Mr. K made a special announcement to start the night, he was joined ringside with Brian Scrilla with a ring Bell in hand. Brian Scrilla then announced that MECW had a special Family member in attendance that night. He also announced that this MECW Family member was named the special guest Bell Keeper for the evening. Ricky Lynn was honored to be the Bell Keeper for the evening to show respect to him as was going into surgery that Monday!!!! GOOD LUCK RICKY!!!!!!!!

1.)”Pride of Peoria Champion” Eric Allen defeated Jad Hamilton with a corkscrew face buster. Mr. K upset with Eric Allens cheating throughout the match forced Eric Allen to fight in another match.

2.) Jordan McEntyre defeated “Pride Of Peoria Champion” Eric Allen with a school boy pin. Everyone thought that Jordan McEntyre had just become the new “Pride Of Peoria Champion” and the place erupted with cheers. Eric Allen quickly got on the mic and informed everyone that the first match he was in was to defend his “Pride Of Peoria Championship” Belt not against Jordan McEntyre!!! So Eric Allen was still the “Pride of Peoria Champion” He also stated that he would defend the belt when he said so not when Mr.K wanted him too!!!

3.) Brian Scrilla defeated 1/2 of the MECW Tag Team Champions: Huge In Japan: Jimmy Rockwell with the Heart Punch. XXXpicit Content came out to rear their ugly heads lead by Bailey Mannix before the match and not only to say what was on their mind but to make fun of the largest group of MECW Family that shows up the FUZZY HAT CLUB!!! With black fuzzy hat’s they did their job but not without being booed even more It didn’t take long for Mr.K to run them off from ring side and get the match underway but after Scrilla secured a victory XXXPLICIT CONTENTS Ricky Kwong & Ryan Slade attacked Brian Scrilla, who was quickly saved by the Bayou Outlaws!!!!

4.) Krotch defeated ½ of the MECW Tag Champs: Huge In Japan: “The Asian Sensation” Ricky Kwong with the Krotch Rocket. Krotch came out to ask the MECW Family “WHAT…..IS……SHAKE’N!!!!!” But on a more serious note to let the MECW Family know that his match last month against the MECW Independent Champion: Gabriel Brimstone was his greatest match and challenge ever!! He also wanted a rematch against the MECW Independent champion but before we could get an answer he was interrupted by Huge In Japan once again. In which they told Krotch to quit his whining that no one wanted to hear him complain!! To just accept his lose and move on. Krotch quickly challenged Huge in Japan for their MECW Tag Team Championships!!!! Huge In Japan let Krotch know that he had to earn his spot, they just don’t let anyone face them for the MECW Tag Belts!!! But Mr. K quickly came to ring side and forced Ricky Kwong to face Krotch with the stipulation being that if Krotch beat Kwong then he would be able to challenge Huge In Japan next month’s MECW May 23rd show for the MECW Tag Titles!!!! But after the match Huge In Japan attacked Krotch but only to be stopped by the MECW Independent Champion: Gabriel Brimstone!!!!!!

5.) “The Canadian Sex Icon” Ryan Slade defeated MECW Independent Champion: Gabriel Brimstone via DQ. After a whole match of cheating by Ryan Slade, who even went far as removing his wrist tape and trying to choke the life out of Gabriel Brimstone!!!! Brimstone quickly grew tired of Slades cheating and shoved the ref on the way to attack Ryan Slade and getting himself Disqualified!!! Before Ryan Slade could escape he was DDT for his troubles! Then when the Ref: Waldo tried to get Brimstone under control but was almost DDT for his troubles. Huge In Japan once again tried to attack Gabriel Brimstone but were given a double DDT. The one thing that this journalist finds odd his that Krotch didn’t make it to ring side to save Gabriel Brimstone. In fact he didn’t show up at all. But before it was all said and done Mr.K came out and told XXXplicit Content and Huge in Japan he was tired of all the interference!!! So as punishment to them XXXplicit Content’s: Huge In Japan and Ryan Slade were forced to face The Bayou Outlaws and Brian Scrilla in a 6 man tag match after intermission!!!!

6.) XXXplicit Content’s: Huge In Japan & Ryan Slade defeated The Bayou Outlaws and Brian Scrilla after “Lovely” Leon threw salt in Aaron Masterson eye’s and Ricky Kwong delivered a reverse thrust kick shades of the Great Kabuki picked up the pinfall victory. Bayou Outlaws and Scrilla seemed to have the match well in hand especially after Maddog McDowell and Brain Scrilla connected with a huge double flapjack. But XXXplicit Content stole the victory and almost escaped. Unfortunately for Ryan Slade he stayed out their too long cutting down the fans making mention that he was gonna sweep the battle royal for the Great Plaines Trophy!! Even mentioning that the first person he was going to eliminate was the overweight, ugly, and slow Brian Scrilla because after all he’s beat him once and cost him a match. While Slade wasn’t looking Brian Scrilla snuck back into the ring and leveled Ryan Slade with a clothesline and a Swinging Neck breaker, then finished him off with a heart punch!!!! Ryan Slade couldn’t leave under his own power which forced XXXplicit Content to have to carry him off!!!!

Will we see the “Canadian Sex Icon” at the battle royal?? Guess will find out what his health condition is at the May 23rd show.

7.) Mark Sterling defeated Mike Sydal with a power bomb then made him tap with a sharpshooter the match was high fling and high impact, with Sydal doing the flying and Mark Sterling doing the impacting. Sterling did everything to keep Sydal down but he couldn’t stop the high flying ability. Sydals seem to be over confidence after an earlier win from Sterling at MECW at a past show. Add in the craftiness of the ring veteran Sterling and it was all she wrote for Mike Sydal when he caught the fan favorite off the top with a power bomb and a Sharp Shooter to boot!!!!

8)Rebel Lucha defeated Eric Fantabulous in both of their MECW debuts. The wild and crazy RebeL Lucha excited the crowd with quick moves and fast strikes. Fantabulous was able to slow him down and attempted to make the mask man tapped with an arm bar. Rebel Lucha was able to get loose on way to a big win a MECW

9.) Zach Thompson defeated Dewey “Booger” Dawson, Evan Money, and Bailey Mannix in a Fatal Four Way Match for the MECW Heavyweight Championship. With the three keeping Bailey Mannix out of the match it seemed all but won with the high fling ability of Zach Thompson and Evan Money anything was possible. You couldn’t count out Dewey Dawson strength and power!!! In the end Bailey Mannix got the accidental tag and began cherry picking opponents but ended up being eliminated to the outside of the ring. Highly upset, Bailey Mannix grabbed a chair right as the ref was knocked down, then he leveled the current champ Dewey Dawson, then Zach Thompson, but before he could get Evan Money. Evan caught him with a leg lariet of his own which knocked the chair in the face of Bailey Mannix sending him to the outside. Evan then put him down with a senton dive from the top rope to the outside. Unfortunately for Mannix though is that when he struck Zach Thompson with the chair he fell on the prone body of Dewey and when the ref came to, he counted the 1,2,3!!! WINNER and the NEW MECW Heavyweight Champion: “The Unbreakable” Zach Thompson.

The quality of the AAPW show in Nashville on April 25th was possibly their best since last year. Our first time in this town, they had a paid attendance of 155. Not too shabby. The crowd was HOT. Yes, it was a bit warm in the Community Center, but not that kind of hot. The card was solid top to bottom. The crowd was so happy that The Nashville Moose Lodge, who raised $1,000 from the event, asked AAPW to set aside 4 more dates for fall and winter of 2009/2010!

1st Runner Up – MMWA-SICW
2nd Runner Up – IWA Productions

(On a personal note, although we appreciate the gesture from the MWR Awards committee, both Josh and I abstained from voting in this category out of respect to the rest of the hard working men and women in the Midwest pro wrestling scene. We would also like to include Kari Williams who is a wonderful writer and the true talent of the three of us.)

MWR Spotlight: Eric Allen The Peorian Pride Champion”?

Posted by flairwhoooooo on April 20, 2009

eric-allen

By Brian “Flair” Kelley

Eric AllenThe Peorian Pride Champion”?  If you are a fan of wrestling and did not know that such a title existed then you are not alone. Just by chance I was in Wood River Illinois to check out MECW for MWR when this brash cocky Eric Allen was introduced to the crowd as the Peorian Pride Champion (much to my surprise) in his match with Brian Scrilla.  I consider myself knowledgeable of the independent scene in this area but this was the first that I had heard of such a title.

With the camera in hand I watched as Allen used every trick in the book to keep his coveted title belt. Scrilla was the victim of foul play when “Exxxplicit Content” member Ryan Slade’s valet Jenna Stark distracted the referee, to allow Slade to use the belt on Scrilla’s knee to preserve the victory and retain the title.

I was able to catch up with Allen after the match to ask him “Where did you win this belt?” His reply to me was that he had won the belt in Peoria Illinois. Allen stated “Peoria is famous for the fact that for something to succeed it must work in Peoria. If it works in Peoria then it will work anywhere. The Pro Wrestling legends organization got together and decided to bring all the top stars in Illinois and several superstars of the WWE, TNA and ROH. We competed in an underground tournament of 64 to determined Champion to finally get to the truth too who the best wrestler in the world really was” When I plainly asked who the superstars were that was in the tournament Allen was quick to say “I have no time for 20 questions, I have to get back to Peoria, they are having a parade to commemorate my victory tonight.”

While I was on the three hour trip back from MECW and wrestling was hot on my mind. I could not wait to do the research and find out more about this Championship and more importantly why MWR was not invited?

On Monday evening I decided to see how Allen’s parade went. I went on the trusty websites and did a search for parade in Peoria March 21….nothing. I thought maybe it was listed on March 22 beings that it was so late….nothing. Hmmm… I did a thorough search on the Peoria’s newspaper websites and still came up with zilch.  Who knows maybe it was “underground”!

I decided to contact some of the MWR Wrestling advisers. One correspondent that wished to remain anonymous enlightened me with some great information.

I was told that Eric Allen “started out in Gateway Championship Wrestling in St Louis under the tutelage of Dingo for 5 months. During the later stages of the company Ego Express (KC Karrington and Steven Kennedy) , Shorty Biggs, Sean Vincent and Cameron Cage took over the training. Allen quickly felt that he had trained with the best, so that proved that he was superior to the rest of the locker room and he had yet to have a match.

The correspondent went on to tell me that “His (Eric Allen) ego escalated even further when his hand was raised in Overland Park when he defeated Trent Stone. In Eric’s mind he was a World Champion in the making.  Then by surprise GCW went under and he was left without a home promotion. When you saw Eric all he ever talked about was how he could have been the greatest Gateway Championship Champion of all time. Time went on and he never really seemed to be focused.”

Then he got the call from Lethal Wrestling Alliance to wrestle young Brandon Aarons  when the Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley) came to town. He told anyone that would listen, take notice because the MCMG may take him back with them to TNA after he schooled “This punk kid”.

Aarons was able to get the win and really seemed to get in the head of Allen. Later that same month Allen got another chance to show the LWA what he was made of defeating “Just” Rick Stone.  After the match was over Allen spent the rest of the night lobbing LWA Management for another chance at Brandon Aaron claiming that their first match was fluke.  Allen received his wish and when LWA returned to St Charles the next month the two went at it again it was a repeat of their first encounter.

Allen just disappeared for almost a year and hit rock bottom when he was defeated by Steven Miller. Eric Allen who envisioned himself as the next World Champion was furious and humiliated when an LWA fan started a thread asking “Who the F is Eric Allen?”  One fan thought is was a ref, another one replied he is good a drawing pictures, and one Superfan demanded that he got to see pictures of this Eric Allen still in disbelief that he existed.

High Voltage Wrestling certainly knows who Eric Allen is. They got to see first hand the talent first hand on March 14th where he was very impressive in his domination of Max Archer. After the match was over he was seen lobbying HVW booker Frank Thurman for a HVW title shot with comments like “Let me put HVW on the wrestling map, HVW is young and fresh looking to strive to become the best in the Midwest and I can bring the promotion to the next level.

My correspondent went on to say “The last I caught up with Eric Allen he had told me how he had won this Peorian Pride Championship.” (I had not told my contact where and how Allen had told me he won it)  Allen said that he was headlined in a huge secret  fundraising wrestling event for the Republican Party at the Peoria Civic Center to determined the very first Peorian Pride Champion. He would not say who he fought but hinted that it was a former WWE Superstar who happens to be in the UFC right now. Any fool would know that he was wanting me to think that it was Brock Lesner but when I humored him and asked was it Lesner he replied “ I would love to tell you but you know the government, everything is a secret.”

He ended it with “The man is talented, there is no doubt about it. The problem is his lack of friends due to his ego.” The man is shady and I wouldn’t turn my back on him if I was one of his friends.

Word got back to Allen that I was inquiring information about his title and history and he contacted me via e-mail.  It was short and sweet, “Mr. Kelley make your way to Woodriver Illinois on April 25 at MECW to see the future of the sport and if you’re lucky I will give you the time to know more about the most dominate champion of the Midwest, Eric Allen “The Peorian Pride Champion”.  Tell my fans that I am blessing them with my appearance at High Voltage Wrestling in May when they return to Granite City, IL on May 9th.”

It looks as if I will have to wait a little longer to find out the truth of Eric Allen. Join MWR at Woodriver Illinois on April 25 as we try to get to the truth of the Peorian Pride Championship. Till then  for more information on this show please go to MECWrestling.com

MECW Recap March 21 – MWR Fans beware of XXXplicit Content

Posted by flairwhoooooo on April 14, 2009

By MECW Management

Mr. K started the night off right after being off for almost two months, Mr. K let the crowd know they were kicking off the night with a MECW Tag Title match!!!!

Prior to the MECW Tag Team Championship MWR was able to catch with both the Champions The Bayou Outlaws and the Chalangers Huge In Japan. They had this to say!

Huge In Japan came out with a tremendous amount of jeer by the MECW Family. When the MECW Tag Champions The Bayou Outlaws came to the ring the MECW Family erupted cheers to show their love for the beloved Outlaws. Before Huge In Japan would let the match begin they announced that the acquired the services of a brand new manager! Jimmy Rockwell noted that their new manger had watched a particular cowboy movie over 100 times!!! Jimmy Rockwell then announced their new manager “Lovely” Leon Alexander the manager of former MECW Champion Bailey Mannix!!

With match finally getting under way The Bayou Outlaws were well in control. Especially with Maddog McDowell being the power and Aaron Masterson being the speed and agility. At one point Maddog pressed Aaron Masterson over his head in landing on Jimmy Rockwell in the corner and delivered a monkey flip!!! Maddog was also able to hit a very impressive and very powerful standing leg drop!!! But Huge In Japan soon took control with a well placed reverse thrust kick by “The Asian Sensation” Ricky Kwong!!! The one man in Huge In Japan that lets his martial arts and wrestling ability do the talking in the ring. With Huge In Japan administering a vicious beat down to Aaron Masterson. The co-holder to the MECW Tag Belts finally made it to his corner to tag in the powerful and the awesome Maddog McDowell who quickly cleaned house.

Maddog McDowell landed a double handed choke slam into a spine buster!!! But the referee was distracted with Huge In Japans new manager “Lovely” Leon Alexander, so he couldn’t make the three count that Maddog definitely had!!! Maddog got up and grabbed “Lovely” Leon Alexander and asking the crowd if they want him to hit “Lovely” Leon and with the ref now distracted by Ricky Kwong. This allowed “Lovely” Leon enough time to throw salt in Maddog McDowell’s eyes blinding him long enough for Jimmy Rockwell to roll him up & collect the 1,2,3 after Ricky Kwong knocked Aaron Masterson off the apron.

Winners and New MECW Tag Team Champions: Huge In Japan: Jimmy Rockwell and “The Asian Sensation” Ricky Kwong!!!

After Huge in Japan won the Tag Team Titles, Former MECW Champion Bailey Mannix came out with Ryan Slade and the microphone in hand. He announced that his manager Leon Alexander wasn’t with Huge In Japan by accident. The fact of the matter was that Bailey Mannix was tired of putting up with Mr. K and his rules to MECW. He was sick of being shafted by Mr. K & the MECW family. He also said that Ryan Slade & Huge in Japan were tired of being told what to do and forced into matches by Mr.K!!! So they were coming together to form a faction known as XXXplicit Content!!! A former tag team that Bailey Mannix himself was one half of. The other included now retired Danny Scott. But the former tag team would be larger and more powerful than ever as a Faction!!! With Bailey Mannix the leader, there is no telling how far this faction will go. But Mr. K promises that their will be law and order within the MECW, the Mayor of Midwest promises that!!!!

In the 2nd match it was Brain Scrilla vs. “The Pride of Peoria Champion” Eric Allen. Scrilla stopped Eric Allen on one of his rants. Brian Scrilla promptly told Eric Allen that no one wanted to hear him speak and if he said one more word to expect a to fight, and he would shove that microphone up his nose!!! But with the referee telling each man to go to his respective corner, gave Eric Allen the chance to pearl Harbor Brian Scrilla.

Scrilla quickly regained control with a kick to Eric Allen’s chest. With it appearing that Brian Scrilla had the match all but won. Eric Allen moved from the corner allowing Brian Scrilla to drive his knee into the turnbuckle!! One chop block to the back of Brian Scrilla’s knee, he was now on his back and at the mercy of Eric Allen. Eric Allen not only took enjoyment in the fact that he had hurt Brian Scrilla. Allen relished the fact that he could possibly put Scrilla out of wrestling forever!!!!

Brian Scrilla did not even having enough strength to stand on his left leg still put up a fight against Eric Allen. Finally Eric Allen finally missing a knee into the corner on Scrilla, Scrilla quickly retaliated with a massive clothesline!!!! Scrilla gutted it out picking Eric Allen up for a huge running power slam!!! This gave Ryan Slade the opportunity for his manger to cause a distraction and for him to take Eric Allen’s “Pride of Peoria” belt and slammed it into the back of Brian Scrilla’s injured knee. Eric Allen fell on top of him and hooked the even more damaged leg, giving Eric Allen the victory.

Winner: “The Pride of Peoria” Eric Allen

Juice Robinson and Hunter Mathews meet for the third time. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

Next the audience was on their feet for Juice Robinson an MECW newcomer who not only has strength on his side but height as well. He came out & put a challenge out to the 1st ever MECW Independent Champion Hunter Matthews. Hunter Matthews slowly made it to ring side, with pizza and water in hand. Hunter grabbed the mic and told Juice Robinson 1. He already beat Juice twice, and 2nd That he wasn’t even ready for a fight that he was still eating his dinner. Juice quickly upped the ante and told Hunter Matthews that if he beat him again, that Juice Robinson would leave MECW for good and never bother Hunter Matthews again.

Hunter quickly agreed to the match, Hunter Matthews quickly took control early on. Juice seemed to take quite a beating from Hunter Matthews. But the match was all but over when Juice Robinson started to make a comeback on the always cocky Hunter Matthews. Hunter even resorted to trying to cheat to beat Juice. But this time around Juice was too smart to get caught in one of Hunter Matthew’s tricks.

A quick three count later and Juice Robinson finally was able to defeat Hunter Matthews for the very first time!!!!!!

Match Four was the triple threat number one contenders match for the MECW Heavyweight Championship!!!

It was “The Unbreakable” Zach Thompson vs. Evan Money vs. Bailey Mannix

This was a high impact match, high flying, and fast action match. Zach came off the top rope with impressive high flying moves. Evan Money was flying over the top rope throwing caution to the wind and himself at Bailey Mannix!!!!

But it didn’t take Bailey Mannix long to gain control of the match and took Zach and Evan not only to their limits but from pillar to post!!! The MECW Family even saw Bailey Mannix take flight in this match!!!! In the end though Zach delivered a germen suplex on Bailey Mannix & Bailey Mannix executed a Northern Lights Suplex on Evan Money!!! The referee counted the 1,2,3 but the problems were just beginning. It seemed to the referee that all participants in the match had their shoulders pinned to the mat!!! Mr. K came out spoke to the ref who then went to the back and reviewed the tape. Mr. K came back with the ref’s decision stands and that all three men are the number one contenders. So in April 25th Zach Thompson, Evan Money, and Bailey Mannix would face the MECW champion in a fatal four way match!!!!

Winners: Zach Thompson, Evan Money, and Bailey Mannix

After intermission the next match was Jordan McEnytre’s return match!!!!

Jordan McEntyre vs. “The Canadian Sex Icon” Ryan Slade

This match being Jordan McEntyre’s return match to MECW, Jordan didn’t seem to show any sign of ring rust. But the “Sex Icon” Ryan Slade, managed to take control of the match, taking Jordan McEntyre to his limits. Jordan McEntyre found a way to pull the rug out from under Slade and almost beat the “Sex icon” in numerous near falls!!! But with the help of Ryan Slades manager pulling the leg of McEntyre while on the top rope thought to put Jordan down for Ryan Slade to attempt a super-plex!!!! Brian Scrilla showed up to ring side too chase off Slades manager. This allowed Jordan the opportunity to shove Slade off the top rope & deliver a flying elbow drop & gain the 1,2,3!!!!!!

Winner: Jordan McEntyre

Next was the MECW Independent Championship Match!!!!!

Gabriel Brimstone vs. Krotch

Earlier in the evening Krotch came out to make sure Gabriel Brimstone and The MECW Family knew that the reason that he was not at the last show. The reason was because he was busy training & getting ready to cash in his number one contender ship match for the MECW Independent Title!!!! He made sure that Brimstone knew that it was nothing personal, that he was cashing it in because if he could face anyone for that title it would in fact Gabriel Brimstone.

Locking up Gabriel Brimstone and Krotch, this was a intense match up. With the crowd being torn right down the middle, half cheering for the challenger Krotch and the other half for the Independent Champion: Gabriel Brimstone!!!!

The whole match nobody knew who would end up on top, but it was Gabriel Brimstone who reversed Krotche’s Krotch Rocket finisher and went for the school boy for the 1,2,3!!!!!

After the match Krotch was upset with himself that he wasn’t able to kick out of the pin attempt. But in the end Krotch & Brimstone shook hands, resumed their friendship and left it all in the ring.

Winner and still MECW Independent Champion: Gabriel Brimstone

Main Event: Knight Wagner vs. MECW Heavyweight Champion: Dewey “Booger” Daweson.

Knight Wagner thru everything he had at the MECW Heavyweight Champion: Dewey, even coming close to become the new Heavyweight Champion for MECW!!!!! But in the end it was Dewey “Booger” Dawson who retained the MECW Heavyweight Championship!!!!!

Winner and STILL MECW Heavyweight Champion: Dewey “Booger” Dawson

But Dewey’s victory celebration wouldn’t last long as he was quickly attacked by the newly formed faction in MECW XXXplicit Content!!!! With the new MECW Tag Team Champions and Ryan Slade putting the boots to Dewey, Bailey Mannix wasn’t far behind with steel chair in hand. Dewey started fighting back but didn’t last long with Bailey Mannix waffling Dewey in the back with the chair. But it only got worse from their, as Dewey turned around to only be leveled in the head with the steel chair!!!!!! Bailey then dropped to his knees extending his arms and proclaiming himself the savior of MECW!!!!!! XXXplicit’s Contents celebration didn’t last long either because: The Bayou Outlaws, Zach Thompson, Evan Money, & Brain Scrilla carring a steel Chair to boot!!! With all of them running off XXXplicit Content and helped the fallen MECW Champion Dewey Daweson to the back!!!!!

The Champion is down thanks to XXXplicit Content but gets a little help from his friends. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

MWR final analysis: MECW is a federation that everyone should have there eyes on. Dewey “Booger” Dawson is highly entertaining, two of the top tag teams in the Midwest with Huge in Japan and the Bayou Outlaws. Bailey Mannix is the real deal, Gabriel Brimestone is OVAH. Evan Money and Zach Thompson flies with the best of them. Juice Robinson is a superstar in the making, Hunter Mathews is always entertaining and “Lovely” Leon is …well “Lovely” Leon. Plus you have a top notch locker room with some excitable fans that include the Fuzzy Hat Club.

MWR November 2008 Awards

Posted by flairwhoooooo on December 12, 2008

November Wrestler of the Month

jeremy-wyatt-part-2

Jeremy Wyatt (PWP, LWA, 3XW, HVW, NWA-DPW)

The rebel wrestled in FIVE organizations in four states in the month of November. At 3XW in Iowa, he defeated the vastly improving Mike Sydal. In Illinois with HVW he wrestled Kahagas in such a tough match that Kahagas had to use a fake injury to get the upper hand to steal the win. At LWA in Missouri, he retained the LWA Championship in a three way between Dingo and KC Karrington when he pinned Karrington.

He traveled to PWP  in Iowa he was able to retain the PWP Championship when he defeated former Champion Abu Colossus and #1 Brett Young in a three way dance. Last, but not least he returned to Kansas with the NWA, he was scheduled to take on Dingo but when Dingo was unable to go, none other than ROH Star Davey Richards would be the man Wyatt had to beat. In a match up that Wyatt sure felt the next day; the outcome was once again a win for the Rebel Jeremy Wyatt.

dynamo-pro-wrestling-logo

NWA Dynamo Pro Wrestling

In a time where 100 people attending is good, 221 is phenomenal. What is more impressive is the last time wrestling was there the attendance was low. More important than the number was the crowd response. From the time the bell rang to the last pinfall the place was off the hook.

1st Runner Up –New Midwest Wrestling
2nd Runner Up – 3XW
3rd Runner Up – IWA Productions

Others receiving votes – AAPW,HVW, Chaos Pro Wrestling

November Personality of the month

high-voltage-show-2-plsu-nwa-in-pomona-011

Magic Man (HVW)

Seemingly 100% behind his man from the PWI 500, The Magic Man turned on Kahagas during the main event of the last High Voltage show, aligning himself with “Future” Donovan Ruddick. He showed that he gravitates toward greatness, and he felt that Kahagas could not handle it anymore (see video on Missouri Wrestling Revival). Overall, Magic Man’s wit and knowledge warrant his nomination for Personality of the month.

1st Runner Up- Luke Roberts (LWA)

November Match of the month

NWA Kansas Champion #1 Brett Young

Vs.

Tyler Cook

(NWA Presents Dynamo Pro Wrestling)

October 29th Pomona, Kansas

On a night where every match was top notch, the pressure was on in front of 221 people. The Kansas Champion was at his very best, working the crowd to frenzy and using every advantage to retain the title. Tyler Cook, worked and worked to get the momentum going his way but when Cook hit the uncovered turnbuckle (Thanks to Brett Young earlier) he would go home without the belt. In the main event, you can make or break what the fans thought of the night. Cook showed that he can live up to the hype that many feel he is capable. The fans though, cant wait to see Brett Young get what’s coming to him next time. What more can you ask from the bad guy?

MWR Spotlight: Luke Roberts (Part 3 of 3)

Posted by Admin on May 17, 2008

Luke Roberts (Part 3 of 3)

by Brian “Flair” Kelley

As far as wrestlers and the St Louis scene are concerned, we will start with the WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton. Have you had any past interactions with “The Legend Killer“?

I have had some indirect contact with Randy through his father. However, as far as direct contact, I have not had the privilege of working with him. He came to South Broadway about a year after I left to wrestle on the St. Louis wrestling scene.

How do you feel of his work as a wrestler?

As a wrestler, Randy Orton is coming into his own as one of the best “bad guys” in the sport. He has developed an attitude that incites professional wrestling fans to hate him. Given the right opportunities, I feel that Randy will be at the top tier of the WWE for years to come.

Let’s stay with the Orton family and talk about his father “Cowboy” Bob Orton, who I met at an OSWA show a while back.

I have had several run-ins with “Cowboy” Bob Orton. Every time I work with him, I always have a great time. Even though he may not be in his prime, he still can provoke a crowd to hate him. From working with him, it is easy to see that many of the skills that Randy Orton has are genetic.

St Louis has been represented well here recently with Delirious, MsChif, and Daizee Haze wrestling in LWA for the Michael Johnson Benefit show on May 3rd. Matt Sydal and Dingo have also made a splash. Which one has surprised you the most with their success?

If I had to choose one, I would have to say MsChif. The successes of the men notwithstanding, to excel as a women’s wrestler is a much more difficult task. Right now, she holds two of the most recognized championships in the world. That, combined with her athletic skills and her attitude, is the reason why I would choose MsChif as the St. Louis wrestler who has surprised me the most.

Who would you say in the past 18 years was the most underrated wrestler in the St Louis area?

In my career, the most underrated wrestler was John Blackheart. This man was technically sound and knew what it took to get a reaction out of the fans. He could go out and fly with the light heavyweights, brawl with the brawlers, manipulate the rules in the world of tag team wrestling, and do things behind a referee’s back that were pure gold. John Blackheart could go out to the ring with anyone and have a good match. He was just that good.

Who do you feel is the best tag team ever in professional wrestling?

The best tag team in professional wrestling, in my opinion, would be Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard. They thought and wrestled in almost perfect harmony with little to no communication necessary.

Who do you feel is the best tag team in St. Louis in the past 20 years?

That’s easy! Billy Bob and the Techno Kid! Just joking! Seriously, the answer to this question will stun a lot of people. From all of the tag teams that have wrestled in St. Louis on a regular basis, I would say that the Ego Express is the best tag team that I have seen in the past 20 years. They know what the other one is thinking at all times. They genuinely seem to like and trust each other. Their knowledge of the rules and how to break them is outstanding. Also, they have a manager/valet that fits their plans perfectly. The Ego Express, whether you like them or not, has all the tools to hang with any tag team in professional wrestling.

Is there anyone that comes to mind that never got the chance, but really deserved it?

I feel that “The Punisher” from the MVWA never really got his time in the spotlight. In his heyday, he could drive a crowd to almost riot status before he even entered the ring. If he would have had a company like an MMWA, GCW, or LWA to sign him and he could have stayed healthy, he could have been huge.

At the moment, you have the chance to become LWA President. You are running against Jacob Dangle, Steven Miller, Bavarian Boy. For those who have not been a part of LWA, tell us what that is about.

Since Yuletide Terror 2007, the LWA has been without a president. Management has decided that someone needs to take control of the LWA before chaos destroys the company. Seeing that I have refereed and ring announced for the LWA, a friend of mine tried to convince me to run for the LWA presidency and I brushed it off. Yet, as time went on, I heard that Steven Miller had found a loophole and weaseled his way into the election process. Once I heard that he was running, I knew that I had to give serious thought about running for LWA president.

Steven Miller thinks that, if Bavarian Boy or Jacob Dangle is elected president of the LWA, he can use his influence with Donovan Ruddick to intimidate them into doing what he wants. However, Mr. Miller knows that I am not, nor will never be, scared of anyone. I know that since I am running for LWA President against Steven Miller, if I lose, I will probably be out of a job.

The fans of the LWA need to make their opinions known. I recommend that everyone goes to www. lwawrestling. com and vote for who you think should be the new LWA president.
