Does Steven J Girthy have Jeremy Wyatt poised to become the NWA Champion of the World on Nov 5th at Metro Pro Wrestling ?

Posted by flairwhoooooo on October 11, 2011

By Brian Kelley

To many in the Midwest he is the most hated man in wrestling today; to his opponents he is their worst nightmare.

Photobucket

Jeremy Wyatt and Steven J Girthy have been dominate in 2011. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

His name is Jeremy Wyatt; pro wrestling’s greatest secret , has wrestled one great match after another from Des Moines, Iowa to ST Louis, Missouri and in every town in Illinois and back in his hometown of Kansas City, Missouri.

In the past Wyatt has earned the nickname “The belt collector” for his ability to capture title after title in multiple promotions against the very best. Wyatt would become the first man to be named the MWR Wrestler of the Year and has won three consecutive matches of the years with three different opponents Michael Strider, Tyler Cook and Tyler Black respectably.

Wyatt has mixed it up with the top names in the sport including the current Ring of Honor World Champion Davey Richards, Former TNA World Champion Samoa Joe, the former ROH World Champion Jerry Lynn, Christopher Daniels, Jimmy Jacobs, Al Snow and Road Dogg Jesse James to name just a few.

Still al the wins, belts, awards and great matches have not brought Wyatt to the forefront of the wrestling world.

Is that about to change??

Photobucket

Wyatt can be ruthless in his attack. A masterful tactician armed with the mastermind Steven J Girthy at ringside he is always one step ahead of his opponents. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

This past weekend the top wrestling manager in the Midwest Steven J Girthy set the wheels in motion at Metro Pro Wrestling to gain momentum to become the NWA World Champion. When It was announced that the former NWA World Heavyweight Champion Colt “Boom Boom” Cabana would be making his way to MPW, could the man that Cabana called “Porky Pig” of been masterfully setting his man up for a NWA World Title match against Adam Pearce?

While Cabana entertained the crowd from bell to bell with his masterful wrestling skills and silly antics, Wyatt And Girthy were at were at there very best and they had to be, Cabana has been to the top with WWE and as the NWA World Champion by defeating none other than Adam Pearce on March 6, 2011 at the NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood television tapings earlier this year.

Photobucket

Former NWA World Champion Colt Cabana would fall victim to the The Rebel in the main event at Metro Pro Wrestling. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

Earlier this year the Belt Collector would become only the third man in the history of wrestling to capture the NWA Missouri Title and the NWA Central States Championship as the same time.  Harley Race and Bob Orton SR   being the other two men. Since that time, Wyatt has been able to keep the NWA Central States firmly on his waist against the likes of Sir Bradley Charles, Trent Stone, Jimmy Rockwell, Ryan Drago and arch rival NWA Kansas Champion Tyler Cook.

The greatest years in the NWA History has had the very best in the Midwest in the middle of the title hunt. Former 8 time World Champion Harley Race would bring honor, respectability and toughness not only to the NWA Title but to Japan and around the World.

With momentum on his side and the great mind of Girthy in his corner is the NWA World Title poised to change hands for the first time in Kansas City since Ric Flair defeated Dusty Rhodes on September 17th 1981 nearly thirty years ago?

With all the positives in this equation there is one huge problem for the Belt Collector.

NWA World Champion Adam Pearce!!!

Make no mistake about it, Adam Pearce is one of the top wrestlers in the world today. It is by no fluke that he is a four time NWA World champion who has sent many challengers packing who felt their time was now home wandering what if.

His resume speaks for itself. Titles around the country, victories against the likes of WWE’S CM Punk, Daniel Bryan ( Bryan Danielson), Delirious, Blue Demon Jr. In a true testament of his greatness Pearce was not only able to be a force in a four-way match between Chance Prophet and Jimmy Rave and Shaun Tampers for the vacant NWA World title on August 30th but would become a four time NWA World Champion.

Wyatt may have been great in the past but if he is to compete with Pearce then he cannot make one
mistake. If so the confident, ruthless NWA Kingpin will capitalize and remain the NWA World Champion.

When the last bell rang at the Turner Rec Center last week a stunned Colt Cabana and Metro Pro Wrestling fans watched as Wyatt and Steven J Girthy celebrated yet another win.

Metro Pro Wrestling has not announced who Pearce would defend the title against when he returns to on November 5th at the Turner Rec Center but if Girthy and Wyatt have their way then it could be the NWA Central States Champion vs. the NWA World Champion.

Could history be made on November 5tth and Jeremy Wyatt was able to add his most important belt to his collection? The NWA World Championship!!

Thank you Trevor Murdock.

Trevor Murdock will look for WWE gold in 2011 *Photo Credit Mike Van Hoogstraat *

When it was announced on July 3rd 2008 that Trevor Murdock was released from WWE and his short time with TNA came to a close there was many in the Midwest that was sadden by the news

Little did we know the blessing to the Midwest wrestling scene with that chain of events that brought the former WLW Champion back home.

During his return Trevor would touch the lives of many.

Photobucket

Midwest top wrestlers like Maddog McDowell could only improve by taking on Trevor Murdock. McDowell is sure to use what he learned in his match with Murdock to prepare him for his 3XWrestling title match this Friday against Brian Ash *Photo credit Brian Kelley*

In my opinion, for his old stomping grounds the World League Wrestling he would work hard with a very impressive young roster of talent that is now at WLW. I can only imagine what it has been like for young Brian Breaker, Jason Jones, The Cancun Kid, Lucy Mendez and several of the others to pick the brain of a man who not only made it to the WWE but was very successful.

Photobucket

Go to a WLW show and you will see a great core of talent that have been training with the charismatic Murdock.

For Kansas City and Metro Pro Wrestling, wrestling has returned with the big support of Murdock front and center. Metro Pro Wrestling debut with other stars as well including Tommy Dreamer and Adam Pierce but night in and night out at Metro, Murdock has been very instrumental in making Metro Pro Wrestling a success.

Photobucket

Trevor was open with charities, the young wrestlers and fans of the Midwest *Photo Credit Mike Van Hoogstraat*

Since his return we have been blessed to have Murdock be very supportive of Missouri Wrestling Revival. Always available to the fans and an interview, Murdock was awesome to work with each and every time.

Photobucket

Last year we were thrilled when Murdock agreed to be a part of the MWR Trading card set that turned out to be a very memorable card featuring his son that the fans will not forget.

Photobucket

There is no doubt that when the kids today get older they will tell their kids about the feud that Trevor Murdock had with Derek Stone at Metro Pro Wrestling * Photo credit Brian Kelley *

Most importantly, is the fans that have been able to see great matches at both WLW and Metro Pro Wrestling. Murdock has had one great match after another with the likes of Derek Stone, Maddog McDowell, Mike Sydal and Trent Stone.

Photobucket

WWE Stars will have to watch out for the punishing lariat from Trevor Murdock *Photo credit Mike Van Hoogstraat *

There is no doubt that this Trevor is a much improved version that the first time that he showed up at the door of WWE.

Regardless, Trevor if you wrestle ten matches or ten years more with WWE, we will be supporting and cheering you on all the way.

Have fun and we look forward to seeing the 4 time WLW Champion and Metro Pro TV Champion in the WWE Universe once again.

NWA Missouri Champ Jeremy Wyatt

The most hated man in the Midwest today, Jeremy Wyatt, became the NWA Missouri Champion last Saturday by defeating the monster Nation, the electrifying Jonathan Gresham, and powerful Trent Stone in a four way war for the coveted title.

In other NWA news current , also during the night current NWA Central States Champion Mark Sterling defeated former 2 –time  AWA World Champion Larry Zbyszko with guest ref Dave Hebner.

Photobucket

For a second it look like the NWA Central States Champion Mark Sterling was going to play nice. *Photo Credit Mike Van Hoogstraat*

Regardless if you either of the Kansas City Killers Wyatt or Sterling one can not deny that they  are among the top wrestlers in the World today.

We here at MWR would love to see Wyatt or Sterling take on the current NWA Champion The Sheik in 2011.

Photobucket

NWA World Champion The Shiek

It would be great too see the NWA Championship come back to theMidwestand either of these two are more than capable of doing just that.

4 States, 14 Shows, 4,265 miles and 74 hours on the road in 3 months at MWR.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on October 26, 2010

With a plethora of great shows  these  past few months,  it has been hard to keep up with all the exciting  news flash, photos and happenings around the Midwest.

MWR has been active with some of the top stars in the country while meeting many of you the great fans, some for the first time while others we know quite well.

We have spent almost every weekend on the road covering the top promotions in the Midwest.

Let’s take a look at some of the sights of the past few months with MWR, the Fans and Superstars around the Midwest.

August 7- Granite City Illinois- High Voltage Wrestling

HVW returned from their summer break to with top stars Kahagas taking on Trent Stone , the Midwest Sweet heart Santana G going up against her arch rival Amy Hennig and the Great Cheyenne with MsChif watching.

Dan Walsh (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

Would it be just by chance that the MWR Wrestler of the Week was MTV’S Dan Walsh who would give away a MWR T-Shirt in August only to see him get the HVW Livewire title soon after? Hey Dan we are just playing, you earned it….with a handful of Trent Stones tights.

August 21 – Council Bluffs Iowa – Pro Wrestling Phoenix

The trips to Iowa seem to take so long to get their, which has been a reason for us to scale back from going to PWP and 3XW. One problem they are so GOOD!! MWR fans don’t worry we have no plans what so ever to stop covering these two exciting promotions.

Pro Wrestling Phoenix delivered on this evening with some exciting wrestling action. We were on hand when Axel Greece assists Ryan Slade and Zac James cheat Chris Havius and Donnie Peppercricket out of the PWP Tag Titles. The show also saw the war rage on between Abu Colossus and Preston Maxwell.

Pro Wrestling Phoenix Champion Tony Cortez (Photo Credit Gary Giaffoglione)

The MWR Wrestler of the Night was the PWP Champion Tony Cortez. Cortez was able to survive the onslaught on Jayden Draigo to retain the championship in a feud that has become quite personal.

In the near future look for a phot recap from their last show in October  from PWP/MWR Photographer Gary Giaffoglione

August 28- Lincoln Illinois – Pro Wrestling Epic

The Balloon festival in Lincoln Illionis is a BIG deal and with PWE providing a FREE show if you attend you can not miss it.

PWE delivered with the biggest match in years in the Midwest literally when the PWE title was on the line between the Mississippi Madman taking on “The Future” Donovan Ruddick led by MR Late Nite.

Ohhhs and AHHHS were heard as the two behemoths battle for supermecy and who is truly the top big man. Nothing was settled decisively, but the crowd went home to tell their friends about the Madman and Future. The match that shook the Midwest .

Evan Money explodes on Eric Allen (Photo credit Brian Kelley)

“The Kid” Evan Money was the MWR Wrestler of the Week as he went on to defeat Eric Allen with a frog splash.

September 4th – Kansas City Kansas- Metro Pro Wrestling

We were thrilled to support Metro Pro Wrestling for several reasons; first off the wrestling scene in the KC market has been dry for some time now. With Metro Pro Sports having TV, showcasing several of the top stars in the country today and oh yeah our former partner in crime Josh Ray is the current ring announcer for this upstart promotion. Metro Pro proved to be a great time with a great upside going into 2010.

September 11 – Waterloo Illinois – Independent Hardcore Wrestling

IHW has been on a roll in 2010 with some great matches in front of a packed crowd. On this night we were thrilled to debut the Tony Kozina MWR Trading Card. Kozina is one of the most well diverse and exciting wrestlers today. During the night Kozina wrestled one of the Midwest most impressive young men in the game Chris L.O.G.A.N

Tony Kozina (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

Let’s take a look at a Video recap of this great show from IHW

September 22- Olney Illinois – IWA Unlimited

Our first trip to Olney lived up to the hype that has been told to me. A weekly FREE Wednesday show how can you go wrong. A great small venue filled with some of the top young talent in the area.

IWA Unlimited fan favorite The Intimidator gives away a free MWR T-shirt to start the night off. (Photo Credit Tim Dunahee )

Everyone that I talked to loved the stars of IWA U and looked forward to the hump day of the week. If you have the day off and live in STL I urge you to take the drive to see what you are missing.

September 25 – Hillsdale Missouri- MMWA-SICW

A great day for the community of Hillsdale as MMWA-SICW teamed up with the Hillsdale Police force to provide a free wrestling show. MMWA-SICW are always fan friendly and if a free outdoor show was not enough, the team work also offered free BBQ and back packs filled with treats from the police force given to them by the stars of MMWA-SICW.

Ace Hawkins is the MMWA-SICW Santa Clause in September while sporting the MWR T-shirt

The MWR Wrestler of the day was none other than Ace Hawkins. Ace fresh off of his appearance at Ring of Honor not only gave away a free MWR shirt but bicycles from the kids and some awesome ST Louis Wrestling Hall of Fame shirts before having a great match against Brandon Espinosa.

September 25- Wood River Illinois – MECW Double shot evening

One of the best kept secrets in the Midwest, is the fact that some of the best talent in Iowa makes the long trip to the STL to go to prove that they are among the best in the Midwest. Jimmy Rockwell, Devin Carter, Zach Thompson, Ryan Slade  and even self proclaimed  wrestling genius Chad Mylan has put an end to Gabriel Brimstones stranglehold  in the Independent title when his man Kwong won the belt in recent months.

Iowa is not the only area that is well represented as the upstate Illinois wrestlers BroMance (Knight Wagner and Jordan McEntrye)  with Erin currently holds onto the MECW Tag Championship and Matt Mayday, Mike Anthony and Chris Logan have all brought their own flavor in the company.

MECW Champion Bailey Mannix (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

On this night the MWR Wrestler of the Night was the champ himself, Bailey Mannix. Mannix is still one of the most underrated wrestlers in the game today.

October 2- Kansas City Kansas – Metro Pro Wrestling

Metro Pro Wrestling heated up with the brand new Metro Pro Wrestling TV Champion Trevor Murdoch taking charge. With an appearance from wrestling great Harley Race the fans where able to see some of the great from the past mixed in with some of the best today.

What has the best Wrestler on Gods Green earth Harley Race along with Ethan Wright and Jeff Strong so mad, could it be because of something that former MWR Josh Ray is doing? See it on METRO SPORTS in Kansas City (Photo Credit Bill Smith )

If fans in Kansas City want the best bang for their buck they need to give Metro Pro Wrestling a chance. You won’t regret it.

October 9- Eldon Missouri – World League Wrestling

One of the biggest nights of the year brought several of the most influential men in the game today. Co-Owner of Pro Wrestling Noah was in attendance along with Harley Race and Cauliflower Alley Club’s Karl Lauer. The MWR Wrestler of the Night was Midwest knockout Lucy Mendez who gave away the very first MWR pink t-shirt.

October 10- Marceline Missouri – Modern Championship Wrestling

Just down the road from my house was a new promotion was a rare Sunday show that featured local favorite The Iceman. Brian Blade won the belt at the very first show and has been a thorn in promoter Dustin Watson’s side ever since.

October 16- Glen Carbon Illinois – NWA Dynamo/High Voltage Wrestling

We were on hand to present the High Voltage Wrestling tag champs the Hooligans the 2009 MWR Tag team of the Year plaques. To be honest we offered the exciting tag team Full Contact Dojo  (Jonathan Gresham and Ric King) the chance to be the MWR Wrestlers of the Week to throw out a t-shirt as a way of being nice.

In a shocking development they defeated The Hooligans to become the NEW HVW Tag Championship . No HVW Champion was safe as “The Belt Collector” Jeremy Wyatt defeated Kahagas and Dan Walsh won the HVW Livewire belt.

Look for a photo recap as well and interviews with all of the new HVW Champions here at MWR in the future.

October 23 – Springfield Illinois – New Midwest Wrestling

NMW invited us and invited us and I am glad that they did, we had debut once before and was very impressed and happy to have added them in our NMW Coverage area. The last show I photographed the most dangerous ( and fun matches) to be a photographer at in my carrer during the4 team NMW Tag Team scramble match and returned for the biggest Battle Royal, rumble style of the year for NMW. All for the enjoyment of you the fans.

The MWR Wrestler of the Week was up and comer Christian Rose. Look for more information about this exciting night of wrestling at MWR soon.

Christian Rose (Photo Courtesy of Jon 'Skippy' Edgecomb)

There you have MWR fans, the itinerary of where Dubray and I have been in just the past tthree months. We may not be able to keep up with the miles that the 2009 MWR Wrestler of the Year Mark Sterling does but who can, that man is a machine.

I would like to thank you the fans, the wrestlers, and the promoters for making

Missouri Wrestling Revival – The Wrestling Press of the Midwest.

MWR fans please support your local professional wrestling and we hope to see you at a show.

Trevor Murdoch introduces a future second generation superstar.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on October 24, 2010

By Brian Kelley

MWR was honored to catch up with the current World League Wrestling and Metro TV Champion recently at the WLW/Noah camp.

Though Murdoch has been an ornery son of a gun in Kansas City with the hottest young promotion in the KC area , while back home at his roots he has been more at ease taking on all challengers to his belt including Trent Stone, Brian Breaker and Jason Jones in recent months while being in good spirts with the fans.

We took advantage of that situation and got this message from the former 3 time WWE World Tag Team Champion along with a special guest.

Midwest Wrestling fans Trevor Murdoch will be in action for Metro Pro Sports on November 6th for another fun filled TV Taping.

MTV’s Road Rules Dan Walsh wins HVW Livewire Championship

Posted by flairwhoooooo on October 19, 2010

You have seen him thrill fans on MTV’S reality TV show Road Rules, this past Saturday Dan Walsh won the coveted High Voltage Wrestling Livewire Championship in a 4 man scramble match.

The match featured three of the most talented superstars in St Louis today when the POWERFUL Trent Stone, the FEARLESS OuTKaSt and the BREATHTAKING Billy McNeil gave an exciting match to get their hands on the title.

In a bit of an upset it was Dan Walsh who would have his hand raised at the end of the night but it would not be without controversy as Walsh had a handful of Stone’s tights to get the Victory.

Dan Walsh will have his hands full to hold onto the title, as the HVW Livewire curse or blessing to some have struck many. The first HVW Livewire champion Brandon Espinosa held onto the title for just under and hour till the “Tokyo Monster’ Kahagas  won the title later that night. Kahagas would use the belt as a stepping stone to rocket to the top of the chain by winning the HVW Heavyweight Championship.

Mike Sydal would win his first ever singles championship when he became the HVW Livewire Champion on the way to becoming the 2009 Pro Wrestling Illiustrated Rookie of the Year. Shortly after Mike was being courted by Ring Of Honor when the exciting young Brandon Aarons defeated him in the spring earlier this year.

Aarons due to personal reason was unable to defend the belt in August and this show so the curse that struck Aarron’s former tag team partner Espinosa bite him.

Now we have the “Dananimal” Dan Walsh as the HVW Livewire Champion.

How long will he last is anyone’s guess. Till then lets hear from the new Champ Dan Walsh.

High Voltage Wrestling Champions Kahagas and the Hooligans return’s this weekend.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on October 14, 2010

This weekend join Missouri Wrestling Revival in Glen Carbon Illinois when High Voltage Wrestling teams up with NWA Dynamo for a star filled event.

First off the 2009 MWR Wrestler of the Year and current NWA Central States Champion Mark Sterling will defend his title against the returning powerhouse Kevin X.

NWA Dynamo Pro and High Voltage Wrestling team up on Saturday October 16th at the Sports Academy in Glen Carbon, Il. to celebrate HVW’s second anniversary with a night of exciting action.

Already signed to the card NWA Central States Champion Mark Sterling takes on the returning Kevin X.

Kevin has been away from the ring for awhile but returned to action for the first time back at the August 28th Dynamo Pro event. With his impres…sive debut a new challenge stands in his way. The current reigning NWA Central States Champion Mark Sterling. Kevin has tasted gold before and now wants to satisfy the hunger that has been reawakened.

Also the HVW Heavyweight championship will be on the line when the Champion “The Tokyo Monster” Kahagas defends against “The Rebel” Jeremy Wyatt.

Wyatt has been surfing a wave of impressive wins as of late.

With a pinfall win over NWA Missouri Champion Davey Vega at the August 16th event during a tag match that saw both Wyatt and Sterling teaming together to take on Vega and Trent Stone. Wyatt has proven once again that he is a force to be reckoned with and he intends to add the HVW Title to his ever growing collection of Championships.

What started as a respectful match between s “the Human Wrecking Ball” Pete Madden and Super Castladi 13 was ended abruptly when Alexandre Rudolph along with Sadie Blaze rushed the ring and brutally attacked Madden. Rudolph was out to make a name for himself by taking out the STL wrestling legend when Kory Twist made his way to the ring and confronted Rudolph. Just a few seconds of exchanges were seen before both Rudolph and Blaze retreated from the ring leaving Twist standing tall and wanting to return to wrestling after 4 years to face Rudolph man to man in the ring.

Twist commented that if Rudolph wants to try and make name for himself at the expense of others it will not start with Pete Madden.

Last but not least October 16th will mark another return as the 2009 MWR Tag Team of the Year the Hooligans will defend their HVW Tag team titles and be on hand to receive their MWR Plaques.

STL cult legend Pete Madden has won the fans over in Kansas City with Metro Pro Wrestling, He will be in action this Saturday at NWA Dynamo and High Voltage Wrestling. If you have doubts of the mans talent lets take a look at Madden in action against one half of the Barrio Boys Domino Riveria who is led by the Latino knockout Lucy Mendez.

STL Fans check Madden this weekend in Glen Carbon Illinois and KC Fans Metro Pro Wrestling returns on November 6th.

The Ego Express d. The Bumrush Brothers; K.C. Karrington was thrown out of the ring and appeared to suffer a knee injury, drawing ring announcer Wesley and the referee over to check on him. This conveniently left no one to count the pin when OuTtKaSt had Steven Kennedy covered after a double-team powerbomb. Karrington turned out to be playing possum and eliminated Shorty Biggs from the equation, then tripped up KaSt as he attempted to climb the turnbuckles. The Egos finished off KaSt with a double neckbreaker and SSK got the pinfall.

Despite the circumstances of the finish, Hennig and Cheyenne attacked Santana after the bell…which brought MsChif into the ring for the save!

Kahagas d. Trent Stone in a hard-fought matchup to retain the Heavyweight Title. Kahagas was able to avoid Stone’s trademark spear on two occasions…he escaped the setup for the Stone Crush and got the win with an exploder suplex turned straight into a small package pin! Stone appeared ready to leave the ring without accepting a handshake from the champion…at that point, Wyatt & Sterling jumped the champion! Stone, who has had issues with the Kansas City Killers in the past, decided to re-enter the ring and even the odds…leaving the champion and challenger standing tall in the ring!
