Vote for the MWR Sexiest Female of the 2012!!

Posted by flairwhoooooo on February 6, 2012

Photobucket
The TNA Knockouts are a huge reason why fans turn onto TNA on Thursday nights, but fans can catch sexy and talented women right here in the Midwest each and every weekend. You never know you may catch a future star at your local show in your hometown. Before Angelina Love was one of the Beautiful people she wrestled in Eldon Missouri for Harley Race’s World League Wrestling at one point. (Though she is not pictured here with Velvet Sky, Madison Rayne and Lacy Von Erich at TNA in St Louis)

By Dubray Tallman.

Hello MWR fans, we hope that you are having a great start to 2012. At MWR we have always supported wrestling and the promotions of the Midwest. This also includes the women of the Midwest, and thankfully we have one of the top women to ever grace the ring, right here in the Midwest, MsChif.

At times though, the competition has been very light as there have not been many women matches throughout the years. Thankfully, that is not the case today as there are not only beautiful women that enter the ring in the Midwest but women that really “bring the excitment” !!

Hard hitting matches between the women have been in demand more than ever as fans have been thrilled to see them go at it as they prove they are as marketable as their male counterparts.

Last year we had some fun with the 2011 MWR Sexiest Male wrestler of the year. The winner was none other than Bailey Mannix.

This year we are honoring the women of the Midwest, with the MWR Sexiest female of the MWR coverage area for you to vote for. Each of these women are lovely in their own special wonderful way.

Yet, there can only be one lady that can be named the MWR Sexiest female of the Year award. We hope you take the time to vote on these lovely wrestlers, managers, valets and important women in the Midwest who is your favorite to be named this year’s 2012 MWR Sexiest wrestler of the year.

Remember MWR fans don’t forget to ask your favorite promotion to bring in your favorite women to your area.

Please note the first checkmark is for Amanda the blood thirst Vixen and the second one if for Angelus Layne, for some reason it is not showing up on the page but I can see total votes at the final edit…..

Stacey O’Brien 2011 Missouri Wrestling Revival Female Wrestler of the Year.

Stacey O’Brien becomes the first ever wrestler to be a two time MWR recipient in the singles category.

O’Brien returned in 2011 after an injury had sidelined her since 2009 with a mission to regain her spot as the women to beat in the Midwest.

To say that she is better than before would be an understatement as she has been touring the Midwest breaking young fans hearts and bringing fear in her opponents.

O’Brien has been on fire capturing wins against the likes of rising star Lucy Mendez to start the year at Metro Pro Wrestling.

In April, in Collinsville Illinois, High Voltage Wrestling presented a supershow with Larry Zbyszko and a special first time meeting between Santana G with special guest Dave Hebner as the referee . While Santana G looked to celebrate her homecoming back to the Midwest, it would be Stacey O’Brien to put an end to the party when she had her hand raised once again in a true classic battle of two of the best young talents in the sport.

During a memorable moment in hot month of July, Stacey O’Brien, turned the heat up even more as she had the men’s mouths drop as she came out in a sexy Metro Referee outfit to restore order in a match between Lucy Mendez and Miss Natural.

Back in action O’Brien would come back to St Louis the South Broadway Athletic Club for the MMWA and capture a victory from arch rival Mendez, though Mendez would even the score at SICW later in the year.

At NWA Dynamo wrestling on August 8th in Glen Carbon Illinois, Stacey O’Brien would take the NWA Midwest Women’s Champ MsChif to the test in a great battle that saw MsChif use her “Green Mist” to score a victory to retain her belt.

O’Brien and her arch rival Mendez would go at it all year in World League Wrestling around the Midwest. In Burlington, Iowa on September 18th the WLW Women’s title was declared vacant and it would be the Boston Bawler who would become a 3-time WLW Ladies Champion.

In October she took part in the WLW/WWE/NOAH week long training camp to improve her skills, to get noticed and to be the best that she can be.

There is no doubt that in 2010 pro wrestling in the Midwest missed the talents of Stacey O’Brien. Fans in the Midwest enjoy her while you can as she has the work ethic to make waves in Shimmer, Japan, TNA or even WWE in the near future.

We would like to congratulate Stacey O’Brien as the 2011 MWR Female Wrestler of the Year.

1st Runner Up- Lucy Mendez
2nd Runner up-MsChif
3rd Runner Up- The Great Cheyenne

Other wrestlers that receive votes Serenity, Melanie Cruise, Miss Natural

Past MWR Female Wrestlers of the Year.

2010 Amy Hennig
2009 MsChif
2008 Stacey O’Brien

Introducing The Great Cheyenne

What made you become a wrestler?

Aside from being a life long wrestling fan I had friends who were wrestling at the time I was 3 years into martial arts. They kept asking me everyday to come train with them, after 3 months of being asked everyday, I trained with them, finally. I have been hooked ever since then.

What do you like about wrestling?

There are many things I love about wrestling from the athleticism, artistic point of view, the theatrics, the traveling and the social aspects of the business.

Artistically, I get to be a mean nasty evil person without getting arrested or getting into some kinda trouble, I release my stress in the ring and I say mean things to people with out any guilt or consequence… In fact I am applauded for this behavior. I play dress up so as to enhance the spectacle I am making of myself as a heel. I do these things all with the spectator in mind.

Socially, I love the networking, the traveling, and meeting new people all the time, hearing their stories and experiences or getting new diet tips, sometimes even making some really cool friends along the way and meeting some really neat fans that sometimes go so far out of their way just to see you wrestle.

Athletically, there is always a challenge to learn something, stay fit or eat healthier so I can prolong my career and my life. I am always getting motivated to get stronger, tougher looking and more conditioned in the ring, especially when I will be wrestling someone who is really good and challenging.

What I do not like about wrestling?

The slouches with bad attitudes who don’t understand the true craft of what we do. People who are satisfied doing things half assed because they don’t care enough to do more, or those who just don’t have the ambition for more because its too hard to pull it out from way deep inside you. That takes alota heart, gumption and nerve !!

What type of music do you listen to?

I enjoy all types of music but my fave is heavy Metal! Rock on! Options are endless and music is my life. I truly do believe that art makes you smart! and music well it really does “TAME THE SAVAGE BEAST!!!” Right now I have hos.com on my phone… “Hearts of Space”, slow music for fast times , really neat stuff, whoever married Steven Hill is one lucky lady! (he produced the program) … you all should check it out!! It is a “GREAT” way to end your day and unwind … or just chill to … especially if it is a stressful day.

What is your favorite song?

I have several songs I love to hear. I can’t just pick one. I would absolutely DIE with out music!!

Any funny backstage stories?

I am sure there are between mishaps, road trips and ribs, I know I have tons of them but I can’t remember right now. It is after the shows or on the long road trips that the really funny stuff happens. Ahhh , here’s one!

After one show we had in Connecticut , we had a food fight , I got on top of the table and fought back I threw a hunk of steak and it smacked another guy square, smack dabb in the face !! We are all grown ups and we had the best times acting like children! I will never forget the way that steak just slapped him in the face right square on the cheek and that was just one piece!! Always great times and I get to missing the guys when I don’t see them in such a long time. They all know who they are ..Love ya’ all.” Los Quiero Cabrones!! oh yeah and for the record we did clean up the mess we made. :o)

Photobucket

What do you feel is your biggest asset?

My passion for being in the ring. It has kept me involved in wrestling for all these years. It has caused me to overcome and survive so many obstacles. I think it is one of the most significant of human characteristics any artist or performer should possess, or that anyone should possess, it brings about a GREAT factor in your life!! Especially, entertainers because its that lifeline to your spectator, the audience really connects with that emotion.

What was it like entering a arena with thousands of fans shouting and looking at you?

My biggest show was over 22,000. in Asia. It was the craziest, most AMAZING adrenaline rush I have ever felt in my life. It was awesome, the camera flashes look like twinkling stars. You can feel their cheers in your bones, they move the earth underneath you, and you reciprocate with your actions inside the ring, causing the earth to shake back …thrashing around, it’s that give and take .. relationship between you in there and everyone outside of the ring, its that intense! That is not to say that my small shows are not great, some of my best shows are intimate small crowds of a 150 or so, like a lot of my local shows where the fans still get so crazy, hyped up and into my character when I make my entrance. Those are moments I won’t ever forget, no matter what! When I am in that moment nothing else exists. So many times you do things or go places and you can’t help that feeling, when you feel like you just don’t belong but when I am in that ring it NEVER EVER feels that way, in fact that is probably the only place where I really feel like I BELONG. I mean I was so comfortable, at home in front of all those people. “It was just GREAT”!

Photobucket

Did you make any close friends while

wrestling?

Several, my trainer/tag partner/best friend Malaki and I try to travel -wrestle all over, as much as I can. We have made friends all over in different states and different parts of the world. Thinking back, we have made some especially nice friends.

If you were a fan of the sport as a child, who were some of your favorites?

The Late Randy Macho Man, & Luna Vachon (R.I.P.) they had to be two of the most impressionable, so much so that you can never erase their image from your mind.. it doesn’t erase easily. they were captivating. Mick Foley, Kane, ,Vader, Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart, Medusa, Tatanka, Undertaker of course, Chyna. I have also always loved female Japanese and Mexican wrestling, it’s intense.

Is there anyone you credit for inspiring you to do what you do now?

Luna Vachon is one character who did that, she was very impressionable on me as a female in the sport, so was Chyna. Bret Hart and Mick Foley were also a huge inspiration.

Is there anything you would like to accomplish that you haven’t yet?

Sure, there is always something new to accomplish, overcome or defeat. I am always looking to raise the bar. I would love to wrestle, in so many other countries all over the world. Time constraints and responsibilities at home have caused me to pass up a couple of offers but I always keep a positive mind, because “ nothing is impossible”.

What did your family or friends think when you informed them of your desire to become a pro wrestler?

Some discouraged it, criticized me, ridiculed me, frowned upon it and some even blatantly were foul about it. Others have just been quiet in the background. I never let that stop me, I am not concerned with that and what they do .I mind my own business. I focus on me and my business. I am doing what I chose to do, people who find something they really enjoy doing, are fortunate to have found something that makes them happy. Family and friends who really love and care about you come to accept and realize that this is you. Malaki has been my biggest supporter, he has always believed in me and kept it straight with me and always puts 100% into my training. If I need correcting or mess up he is brutally honest, no games. . Since years have passed alot more have changed the way they feel, now these same people see I have been doing this for a long time and I have stuck it out so, now it’s cool, to be a wrestler. Now there is respect because I never scoffed or backed off from the obstacles.

What kind of work do you do? And how many hours per week on average do you spend working out?

I work downtown at several locations doing office work, I replace everyone when are abscent. So I do everyone’s job. I also work at a nursing home with a man who is now one of my close friends, he has MS and I help him out. The disease has rendered him a paraplegic and he is unable to do much for himself. He is by far one of the most inspirational teachers in my life. I am so fortunate to be around him. I work out in the evenings for anywhere from 2-4 hrs, five to six days a week, maybe more. The gym is my home away from home.

Is there something most fans don’t know about you that you would like’m to know?

Not to sure… I love wrestling and nature, the outdoors, I paint, I draw, I can cook, sew, I am funny, or perhaps, I am really not as evil as you think I am hahaha !

Who was your first match and what was it like stepping in the ring for the first time?

Eeks my first match, my first match was with a indie guy that is probably not even in the business anymore , I did alot of royal rumbles and interference ..when I started . It was fun.

What is your relationship with other girls you work with?

It is competitive like anything else. What matters is what we do in the ring. If you find friends that is always “Great” but I focus on the wrestling and the training first and foremost. From there, you make the best friends with those who value and have the same heart and work ethic for the business as you .

Which wrestlers were the most fun to work with?

Terry Funk, Bob Backland, Road Dogg, The Giant Pharoah, The Stretcher, Amanda Storm, Naughty Adrianna, Mercedes KV, Juliette the Huntress, El Nuevo Cuidadano El Leon Apolo, Chris Michaels but the one I loved working with the most was/is Malaki. I think my best matches are vs. Malaki. People really get into the male/female drama. It is so relative to everyday life, all men always have a beef with some female and all women at one point or other just do not see eye to eye with a male, age old true story! “Adam and Eve”.

What kind of advice can you give a young woman who might be considering getting into the wrestling business?

Hurry run in the opposite direction!!! Nah just kidding, If you do not have a high threshold for pain and bodily harm …don’t do it! If your looking for money don’t do it! If you love wrestling and I mean really enjoy wrestling then go for it because that enjoyment of wrestling is what you need to want to keep going at it until you make it to whatever heights your looking to make it in this business. I think its truly a labor of love until you make it big!

Good luck ..no GREAT luck! You’re gonna need it!

Any last words for your fans out there?

THANKS for all the support without the fans, the audience, we would have no reason to put on a show! AND SEE YOU ALL AT THE NEXT SHOW!

Stacey O’Brien and Santana G- The start of a war between two wrestling beauties

Posted by flairwhoooooo on June 4, 2011

Stacey O’Brien is back and has set the Midwest on notice that she is better than ever. The former MWR Female of the Year has came back from an injury  and after shaking off the ring rust is on quite a roll in 2011.

MWR fans that love women wrestling should be thrilled that since her absence several young women Lucy Mendez, Mia Martinez, The Great Cheyenne, Melanie Cruise   and Santana G have all been improving their game in the Midwest.

Photobucket

Stacey O'Brien took it too the Midwest Sweetheart in their first match *Photo Credit Brian Kelley*

At the end of April Stacey O,Brien got to meet one of the hottest women in the sport today for the very first time, Santana G. Santana G’s homecoming party was cut short when the Catholic Schoolgirl Stacey O’Brien pinned her one –two –three by former WWE Referee Dave Hebner in Caseyville Illinois.

Stacey O’Brien has been in a red hot feud with Lucy Mendez and never one to  stay out of trouble O’Brien makes her presence known while I was interviewing Sanatana G.

Watch what happens.

4 States, 14 Shows, 4,265 miles and 74 hours on the road in 3 months at MWR.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on October 26, 2010

With a plethora of great shows  these  past few months,  it has been hard to keep up with all the exciting  news flash, photos and happenings around the Midwest.

MWR has been active with some of the top stars in the country while meeting many of you the great fans, some for the first time while others we know quite well.

We have spent almost every weekend on the road covering the top promotions in the Midwest.

Let’s take a look at some of the sights of the past few months with MWR, the Fans and Superstars around the Midwest.

August 7- Granite City Illinois- High Voltage Wrestling

HVW returned from their summer break to with top stars Kahagas taking on Trent Stone , the Midwest Sweet heart Santana G going up against her arch rival Amy Hennig and the Great Cheyenne with MsChif watching.

Dan Walsh (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

Would it be just by chance that the MWR Wrestler of the Week was MTV’S Dan Walsh who would give away a MWR T-Shirt in August only to see him get the HVW Livewire title soon after? Hey Dan we are just playing, you earned it….with a handful of Trent Stones tights.

August 21 – Council Bluffs Iowa – Pro Wrestling Phoenix

The trips to Iowa seem to take so long to get their, which has been a reason for us to scale back from going to PWP and 3XW. One problem they are so GOOD!! MWR fans don’t worry we have no plans what so ever to stop covering these two exciting promotions.

Pro Wrestling Phoenix delivered on this evening with some exciting wrestling action. We were on hand when Axel Greece assists Ryan Slade and Zac James cheat Chris Havius and Donnie Peppercricket out of the PWP Tag Titles. The show also saw the war rage on between Abu Colossus and Preston Maxwell.

Pro Wrestling Phoenix Champion Tony Cortez (Photo Credit Gary Giaffoglione)

The MWR Wrestler of the Night was the PWP Champion Tony Cortez. Cortez was able to survive the onslaught on Jayden Draigo to retain the championship in a feud that has become quite personal.

In the near future look for a phot recap from their last show in October  from PWP/MWR Photographer Gary Giaffoglione

August 28- Lincoln Illinois – Pro Wrestling Epic

The Balloon festival in Lincoln Illionis is a BIG deal and with PWE providing a FREE show if you attend you can not miss it.

PWE delivered with the biggest match in years in the Midwest literally when the PWE title was on the line between the Mississippi Madman taking on “The Future” Donovan Ruddick led by MR Late Nite.

Ohhhs and AHHHS were heard as the two behemoths battle for supermecy and who is truly the top big man. Nothing was settled decisively, but the crowd went home to tell their friends about the Madman and Future. The match that shook the Midwest .

Evan Money explodes on Eric Allen (Photo credit Brian Kelley)

“The Kid” Evan Money was the MWR Wrestler of the Week as he went on to defeat Eric Allen with a frog splash.

September 4th – Kansas City Kansas- Metro Pro Wrestling

We were thrilled to support Metro Pro Wrestling for several reasons; first off the wrestling scene in the KC market has been dry for some time now. With Metro Pro Sports having TV, showcasing several of the top stars in the country today and oh yeah our former partner in crime Josh Ray is the current ring announcer for this upstart promotion. Metro Pro proved to be a great time with a great upside going into 2010.

September 11 – Waterloo Illinois – Independent Hardcore Wrestling

IHW has been on a roll in 2010 with some great matches in front of a packed crowd. On this night we were thrilled to debut the Tony Kozina MWR Trading Card. Kozina is one of the most well diverse and exciting wrestlers today. During the night Kozina wrestled one of the Midwest most impressive young men in the game Chris L.O.G.A.N

Let’s take a look at a Video recap of this great show from IHW

September 22- Olney Illinois – IWA Unlimited

Our first trip to Olney lived up to the hype that has been told to me. A weekly FREE Wednesday show how can you go wrong. A great small venue filled with some of the top young talent in the area.

IWA Unlimited fan favorite The Intimidator gives away a free MWR T-shirt to start the night off. (Photo Credit Tim Dunahee )

Everyone that I talked to loved the stars of IWA U and looked forward to the hump day of the week. If you have the day off and live in STL I urge you to take the drive to see what you are missing.

September 25 – Hillsdale Missouri- MMWA-SICW

A great day for the community of Hillsdale as MMWA-SICW teamed up with the Hillsdale Police force to provide a free wrestling show. MMWA-SICW are always fan friendly and if a free outdoor show was not enough, the team work also offered free BBQ and back packs filled with treats from the police force given to them by the stars of MMWA-SICW.

Ace Hawkins is the MMWA-SICW Santa Clause in September while sporting the MWR T-shirt

The MWR Wrestler of the day was none other than Ace Hawkins. Ace fresh off of his appearance at Ring of Honor not only gave away a free MWR shirt but bicycles from the kids and some awesome ST Louis Wrestling Hall of Fame shirts before having a great match against Brandon Espinosa.

September 25- Wood River Illinois – MECW Double shot evening

One of the best kept secrets in the Midwest, is the fact that some of the best talent in Iowa makes the long trip to the STL to go to prove that they are among the best in the Midwest. Jimmy Rockwell, Devin Carter, Zach Thompson, Ryan Slade  and even self proclaimed  wrestling genius Chad Mylan has put an end to Gabriel Brimstones stranglehold  in the Independent title when his man Kwong won the belt in recent months.

Iowa is not the only area that is well represented as the upstate Illinois wrestlers BroMance (Knight Wagner and Jordan McEntrye)  with Erin currently holds onto the MECW Tag Championship and Matt Mayday, Mike Anthony and Chris Logan have all brought their own flavor in the company.

MECW Champion Bailey Mannix (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

On this night the MWR Wrestler of the Night was the champ himself, Bailey Mannix. Mannix is still one of the most underrated wrestlers in the game today.

October 2- Kansas City Kansas – Metro Pro Wrestling

Metro Pro Wrestling heated up with the brand new Metro Pro Wrestling TV Champion Trevor Murdoch taking charge. With an appearance from wrestling great Harley Race the fans where able to see some of the great from the past mixed in with some of the best today.

What has the best Wrestler on Gods Green earth Harley Race along with Ethan Wright and Jeff Strong so mad, could it be because of something that former MWR Josh Ray is doing? See it on METRO SPORTS in Kansas City (Photo Credit Bill Smith )

If fans in Kansas City want the best bang for their buck they need to give Metro Pro Wrestling a chance. You won’t regret it.

October 9- Eldon Missouri – World League Wrestling

One of the biggest nights of the year brought several of the most influential men in the game today. Co-Owner of Pro Wrestling Noah was in attendance along with Harley Race and Cauliflower Alley Club’s Karl Lauer. The MWR Wrestler of the Night was Midwest knockout Lucy Mendez who gave away the very first MWR pink t-shirt.

October 10- Marceline Missouri – Modern Championship Wrestling

Just down the road from my house was a new promotion was a rare Sunday show that featured local favorite The Iceman. Brian Blade won the belt at the very first show and has been a thorn in promoter Dustin Watson’s side ever since.

October 16- Glen Carbon Illinois – NWA Dynamo/High Voltage Wrestling

We were on hand to present the High Voltage Wrestling tag champs the Hooligans the 2009 MWR Tag team of the Year plaques. To be honest we offered the exciting tag team Full Contact Dojo  (Jonathan Gresham and Ric King) the chance to be the MWR Wrestlers of the Week to throw out a t-shirt as a way of being nice.

In a shocking development they defeated The Hooligans to become the NEW HVW Tag Championship . No HVW Champion was safe as “The Belt Collector” Jeremy Wyatt defeated Kahagas and Dan Walsh won the HVW Livewire belt.

Look for a photo recap as well and interviews with all of the new HVW Champions here at MWR in the future.

October 23 – Springfield Illinois – New Midwest Wrestling

NMW invited us and invited us and I am glad that they did, we had debut once before and was very impressed and happy to have added them in our NMW Coverage area. The last show I photographed the most dangerous ( and fun matches) to be a photographer at in my carrer during the4 team NMW Tag Team scramble match and returned for the biggest Battle Royal, rumble style of the year for NMW. All for the enjoyment of you the fans.

The MWR Wrestler of the Week was up and comer Christian Rose. Look for more information about this exciting night of wrestling at MWR soon.

There you have MWR fans, the itinerary of where Dubray and I have been in just the past tthree months. We may not be able to keep up with the miles that the 2009 MWR Wrestler of the Year Mark Sterling does but who can, that man is a machine.

I would like to thank you the fans, the wrestlers, and the promoters for making

Missouri Wrestling Revival – The Wrestling Press of the Midwest.

MWR fans please support your local professional wrestling and we hope to see you at a show.

The Ego Express d. The Bumrush Brothers; K.C. Karrington was thrown out of the ring and appeared to suffer a knee injury, drawing ring announcer Wesley and the referee over to check on him. This conveniently left no one to count the pin when OuTtKaSt had Steven Kennedy covered after a double-team powerbomb. Karrington turned out to be playing possum and eliminated Shorty Biggs from the equation, then tripped up KaSt as he attempted to climb the turnbuckles. The Egos finished off KaSt with a double neckbreaker and SSK got the pinfall.

-The Great Cheyenne won a triple threat match with Amy Hennig and Santana G; Santana seemed to be in the crosshairs of both Hennig and Cheyenne, though only one competitor could win the match. Hennig delivered the Perfectplex on Santana, but Cheyenne threw Hennig out of the ring and stole the pin on Santana! Despite the circumstances of the finish, Hennig and Cheyenne attacked Santana after the bell…which brought MsChif into the ring for the save!

Kahagas d. Trent Stone in a hard-fought matchup to retain the Heavyweight Title. Kahagas was able to avoid Stone’s trademark spear on two occasions…he escaped the setup for the Stone Crush and got the win with an exploder suplex turned straight into a small package pin! Stone appeared ready to leave the ring without accepting a handshake from the champion…at that point, Wyatt & Sterling jumped the champion! Stone, who has had issues with the Kansas City Killers in the past, decided to re-enter the ring and even the odds…leaving the champion and challenger standing tall in the ring!
