Posted by flairwhoooooo on March 22, 2015

 photo 3_zps4rgh6so8.jpg

One of the top tag teams in the Midwest, Jack Gamble and Jon Webb (High Level Enterprise) will be making their way to train at the Pro Wrestling Noah dojo this week in Japan. Both of these men have been trained by the Hall of Famer around the world, Harley Race at World League Wrestling, before thrilling fans around the Midwest. This will be the second tour of Japan for the ladies favorite Jon Webb, as Jack Gamble will be debuting for the very first time. Both men have wisely taken part in the annual WLW, WWE, NOAH camps that Harley Race host each fall that have allowed the opportunity to be seen from the best minds in the sport.

 photo wlwww_zps5nygptpa.jpg

Harley Race is a legend in Japan to this day. Here is a great photo of Race in a former visit in Japan for WLW.

When Jon Webb returned from his time in the Pro Wrestling Dojo, you could see the improvements ten-fold as he continued to capture titles with Gamble as well as become one of the top favorites at Dynamo Pro Wrestling, so with both men training together there look for the two to gel like never before.

It has been announced that they will meet the very exciting duo of Mohammed Yone & Atsushi Kotoge on April 11th. Atsushi Kotoge is a former  GHC Junior Heavyweight Champion and a two-time GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion.  Mohamedo Yone is  a multi-time GHC Tag Team Champion himself so it goes without saying that HLE will be sent into the fire from the start.

Missouri Wrestling Revival has always been honored to cover both of these hard working men during their career and we wish them the very best as they continue to learn and improve at Pro Wrestling NOAH.

Where in the World is Jon Webb ?

Posted by flairwhoooooo on May 24, 2014

 photo 3_zpsd314bf07.jpg

Jon Webb and Jack Gamble’s High Level Enterprise T-shirts have been a favorite at Pro Wrestling Tees and wrestling shows in the Midwest. Will Jon Webb still have that smile when he comes back from Japan?

There is not a day that goes by that we do not get an e-mail from MWR fans asking, where has young wrestling star Jon Webb gone ?  Webb, the young heartthrob has a huge fan base among the girls, but has earned the respect of young boys and men alike ever since taking the opportunity to train with 8-time NWA   Champion Harley Race.

He has appeared for many top promotions in the area including WLW, SICW, DPW, NWA CSW and MMWA, and his partnership in the exciting tag team High Level Enterprise with Jack Gamble are one of the most loved tag teams during the MWR Years.

So where is Jon Webb?

After taking part in two WLW WWE NOAH camps in Eldon, Missouri (NOW TROY MISSOURI) he chose to travel to japan to give Pro Wrestling NOAH a visit. Since he has been gone, his partner Jack Gamble has been a part of some very controversial moments in 2014. Gamble has turned on his fans at both WLW and Dynamo Pro Wrestling. The fans are dying to see how Webb reacts to his partners’ new alliances, while hoping that he can talk some sense in Gamble.

 photo 4_zps6bc9687f.jpg

Jon Webb has not been scared to test himself. From the start he went to train under the 8-time NWA Worlds Champion Harley Race’s watchful eye. Since that time he has tested himself against several of the best in the Midwest including the former MWR Wrestler of the Year Mark Sterling. At the moment he is in Japan learning from some of the best that they have to offer.

Fans I encourage you to LIKE the official Jon Webb FACEBOOK page to keep up with his progress in pro wrestling around the world.

Pro Wrestling NOAH’S Ryu Nakata passes away- A man that touched lives from around the world.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on February 18, 2014

 photo 1_zps586158d7.jpg

Ryu Nakata and Harley Race were a winning combination and you could tell by their actions when they were together that they respected and cared for one another.

By Brian “Flair” Kelley

It is so hard to find the right words or say enough about someone when we lose them in our lives. With that said, please know that with this article we hope show a small tribute to Ryu Nakata

Pro Wrestling in the Midwest lost a true friend today when Japans’ Pro Wrestling NOAH Executive Ryu Nakata, passed away. Mr. Nakata, along with Ken Hirayama represented the NOAH promotion to further training for the students around the world every year at his close friend Harley Race’s World League Wrestling promotions’ annual WLW/WWE/NOAH week long camps.

Young wrestling students around the world would travel to the Missouri to the camp, with the hopes that they would be able to improve themselves enough to impress either the staff at WLW or make the trip overseas to work in front of the great Japanese fans.

Throughout the years Nakata was instrumental in bringing the likes of Takashi Suguira, Go Shiozaki, Takeshi Morishima, KENTA, Naomichi Marufuji, and Kenta Kobashi to the Midwest, while giving the opportunities to the students of the camps to go overseas such as Leland Race and the 2013 MWR Wrestler of the Year Jake Dirden.

There is no doubt that he was an important person in the world of pro wrestling in Japan, but on a personal level I would like to honor Ryu Nakata as well as his family and friends for the times that he gave his approval to allow myself the rare opportunity to cover the camps.

During the night of the shows I will always remember the times that he came before the WLW fans to thank them for their support and acknowledge how much he enjoyed coming to the United States. I remember laughing at the Eldon, Show when Mr. Hirayama stated to the crowd that Mr. Nakata was a huge fan of shopping at Wal-Mart.

Today the world lost a great man in Ryu Nakata.

Our hearts and thoughts goes out to the family and friends of Ryu Nakata in this very sad time.

We are thankful to say that we got to know you Mr. Nakata.

Japan is about to get “DirdEY” !

Posted by flairwhoooooo on April 10, 2013

 photo JakeDirden_zps089c6b8f.jpg

In less than a year “DirdEY” Jake Dirden has accomplished more than many wrestlers can only dream of. The Dynamo Pro Wrestling student has sought out the toughest of men to battle while trying to learn from the best that the sport has to offer.

With a natural talent and a great look wrestling promoters in the Midwest have been clamoring to get him in the ring, while fans have been thrilled to see that happen. Standing at 6’8″ and weighing in a total of 253 pounds he has traveled to the top promotions in the Midwest including Ohio Valley Wrestling, Metro Pro Wrestling, Southern Illinois Championship Wrestling, 3XWrestling, Mid Missouri Wrestling Association and Dynamo Pro Wrestling.

 photo IMG_2849_zps0a14266e.jpg

Dynamo Pro owner “Evil” Jim Yount, who has worked with the likes of Evan Bourne (Matt Sydal), Delirious, Dingo, MsChif and Daizee Haze had this to say about Dirden “From day one of his training, I could tell he had the “it factor”. I knew he would be going places. We are extremely proud of him and all that he has accomplished in such a short time.”

TNA GUTCHECK ST. LOUIS 10-27-12 – Photo credit TNA Website.

Dirden took part in TNA’S Gut Check in St. Louis on October of 2012, shortly after that he traveled to Eldon Missouri, for Harley Race’s annual WLW/ WWE and Pro Wrestling Noah camp. He was chosen from the trainers to take part in the weekend show at the end of the camp to see if he could impress them in live action as much as he did during the weekend long camp. The results was in after an impressive match against Mizfitt Manners the powers to be at Japan’s Pro Wrestling NOAH quickly offered Dirden the opportunity to work with them in 2013.

 photo Pro-Wrestling-Noah_zps37055592.jpg

This past weekend inside a Dynamo Pro ring in Glen Carbon, Illinois, Jake Dirden was able to defeat Ricky Cruz, a man who in the past year and half has only been defeated clean in the ring once. This win should give him the confidence as he heads to Japan to train in one of the most respected, hardest working dojos in the world.

So mark your calender for this day in history as the time has come this week for the Dirden to invade Japan, and just as his Midwest opponents have found out that Jake Dirden is a man that will leave his mark wherever he goes.

Eldon, Missouri– After another great year of learning for aspiring wrestlers at the annual wrestling camp led by the upcoming 2013 inductee to the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame Harley Race, Pro Wrestling NOAH and WWE representative Steven Regal.

Photobucket

The WLW Champion OTT was able to retain the title much to the chagrin to the Black Hand Warriors as he heads to Richmond, Missouri this Saturday Night to defend the title with special guest Lex Luger and great night of wrestling as Steve Regal and Ace Steel II lived up to the hype and much more.

The first big news coming from the 2012 camp is that the former WLW Champion Jason Jones will return to Japan’s Pro Wrestling Noah the first of 2013.

Jones moved to Eldon Missouri from North Carolina to train with the 8-time NWA Worlds Champion Harley Race to pursue his dream to be the best that he could be. This marks his second tour of Japan with Pro Wrestling NOAH, proving that his dedication is paying off.

During the week at the camp Jones was very instrumental in assisting the students in improving their skills, while teaching proper techniques and safety, first and foremost.
We are happy to say that in the past Jones has been a supporter and friend of MWR and we are thrilled to see him earn this tour for his hard work.

Look out in the near future for a sneak peak of the 2012 camp thanks to the hospitality of World League Wrestling and other top news coming out of the camp right here at Missouri Wrestling Revival.com, Your #1 source for pro wrestling news in the Midwest.

Marshall and Ross Von Erich wisely seek out the wrestling edge from Pro Wrestling Noah and WLW. See them this weekend in Warrensburg and Eldon, Missouri.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on April 23, 2012

By Brian Kelley

In the 80’s wrestling was on fire, and there were no wrestlers that were more loved than the Fritz Von Erich’s sons, Kerry, Kevin, David, Mike and Chris Von Erich. Though their home was the Texas promotion World Class Championship Wrestling, fans across the country and around the world fell in love with the Von Erich’s. Fans cheered , shouted and cried at times as they took on such villains as the Freebirds, “Gentleman” Chris Adams, “Gorgeous” Gino Hernandez, One Man Gang as well as having wrestling the great manager Gary Hart trying to take down the Von Erichs.

One of the greatest moments in wrestling history was on May 6, 1984, when Kerry Von Erich defeated “Nature Boy” Ric Flair in a historic match, in front of over 45,000 fans at Texas Stadium to win the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. Kerry’s victory was a tribute to his brother David, who had died three months earlier and for whom the event, the David Von Erich Memorial Parade of Champions, was named.

In their prime the Von Erich’s were the Beatles, Elvis and Jim Hendrix combined. Loved not only in the states but their impact on wrestling in Japan is still felt today.

Last fall, the fans around the Midwest were thrilled when Harley Race announced that participating during the annual WLW, WWE and Japans Pro Wrestling NOAH was the recent inductee in the WWE Hall of Fame Kevin Von Erich would be appearing.

During the week of the camp MWR was a guest of WLW and Pro Wrestling NOAH as Kevin along with WWE’S Steven Regal and Ricky Steamboat. The three stars along with Race taught the young wrestlers around the country who were fortunate to take the week long camp to learn with three of the top wrestling promotions around the world.

During the annual camp show, the fans came up to MWR with smiles that would remind you of a young child at Christmas time as they spoke about the kindness of one Kevin Von Erich. Sometime you meet your heroes that you grow up with and they live up to your expectations. It was an easy recap to do when so many fans left happy meeting Kevin, Harley, Steamboat and being entertained by the stars of WLW with a stacked card that featured a main event match between Steven Regal vs. Ace Steel.

For a look at that historic week of WLW/WWE/Pro Wrestling Noah presented a magical week for wrestlers and fans in the Midwest in October. Click here .

Photobucket

The Pro Wrestling NOAH website reported earlier this year on January 14 that Kevin’s sons Marshall and Ross Von Erich who had participated in the WLW/Pro Wrestling NOAH/WWE camp in the fall, were on their way to Japan to work on their skills at the Pro Wrestling Noah dojo.

NOAH GM Ryu Nakata and USA and foreign affairs representative Ken Hirayama visited Kevin Von Erich & his family at their home. Kevin was pleased to meet with Ryu and showed him as his boys Ross & Marshall works out at their gym and teaching those fundamentals of the professional wrestling.

Kevin Von Erich and his sons arrived safely at Haneda Int’l Airport. As they announced their participation for NOAH Development program officially at the live coverage atNTV’s building media park along with many fans and other media outlets.

Ross & Marshall commented as they are very excited and honored to be able to join the NOAH organization and can’t wait to start training .Kevin commented as he was very pleased to have his 2 sons joining NOAH to start building the basic foundation.

Click here for Photos courtesy of Pro Wrestling NOAH

Marshall and Ross are both natural athletes as Ross was highly respected as he won several fitness and weight lifting competitions as well as coach’s awards and recognition for his performance throughout high school and college. Marshall excelled at both football and discus, being named to the Kauai Interscholastic Federation All-Star team as a wide receiver and breaking a 12 year old island-wide record in discus.

When I met Marshall and Ross, I knew of their athletic background as I was honored to interview their dad who proudly spoke of them. When I saw them they were soft spoken and while I saw them in the ring during the camp I could tell they were timid and shy hitting the ropes.

So when I received word from the offices of WLW that Ross and Marshall were to make their wrestling debut in April in the Midwest, I was excited about the opportunity to take photos of the Von Erich’s first matches. To be a man and to be honest with you, I was not expecting much from them as far as ring work as they were so new.

Boy was I wrong. Pro Wrestling NOAH in a few months had them in amazing shape and more than ready for their debut. Their first night in Sedan, Kansas they would fall down in defeat against the WLW Champion “The Prince” Jason Jones and the 2011 MWR Future Star recipient Brian Breaker. A great crowd and Pro Wrestling NOAH videotaping the matches for them to be broadcast in Japan there is no doubt that the pressure was on the young boys.

MWR fans may know that Jones and Breaker has been at war with each other for the WLW title but with the newcomers of the Von Erich’s invading their home turf, they seem to have joined together to keep them from winning their first match.

With the taste of defeat from two of the finest young wrestlers in the country, Marshall and Ross had to regroup, oh how I would of loved to have been in the car from Sedan, Kansas to Richmond, Missouri while Kevin gave his two sons advice on how to improve their chances to take down the team as good as Jones and Breaker.

The night in Richmond started out rocky for the youngest Von Erich, Marshall who went one on one against the former WLW Champion and a man who has made his way last year for a tour of Pro Wrestling NOAH Brian Breaker along with former WWE Star Trevor Murdock. Though Marshall was in phenomenal shape, Breaker still had the edge with his power and size, but the young Von Erich used his speed to have Breaker in trouble.

Like Breaker, Marshall is blessed with natural speed and power. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

Yet, out from the back came the sneaky snake Jason Jones, who had come to ringside and interfered just long enough to give Breaker the chance to steal the victory.

Photobucket

Brian Breaker and Jason Jones 2, the Von Erich brothers zero.

The stage was set at that time for as the Von Erich’s challenged Breaker and Jones to a rematch in the main event of the evening.

Photobucket

History was made in April in the Midwest as fans got to witness one of the very first tags in the history of the 3rd generation Von Erich’s as Marshall tags in his older brother Ross. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

The building seemed too erupted, the action seem to be at a furious pace from the start.

Photobucket

Beautiful dropkick from Ross lets Jones know that he and Breaker were in for a fight. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

Then it happened Marshall locked on the fearsome “Von Erich” Claw on the champ Jones, the fan in me almost shouted in joy as I seemed to have been transported back in 1983 but thankfully, I was able to regain my composure to take photos and remember that I was there in a professional capacity. Jones may be evil at times but he can wrestle and by no means is not an idiot did not hesitate to find a way out of the Claw before Marshall had it completely locked in.

With the Von Erich’s on fire, Breaker and Jones used their experience and a little cheating to get the edge it was looking bleak for the young Von Erich’s.

The young fans screamed with all their might to encourage the third generation stars to fight back against the odds and dirty deeds being dished out by Breaker and Jones.

Just as fast and furious the match had started the end was about to unravel for the WLW Champ Jones and Breaker as Ross delivered bruising kicks left and right, while Marshall locked on the Claw on Breaker then hoisted him up for a slam…

Yet Jones made the save and threw Marshall outside the ring and got the edge on Ross and was prepared for a big move when Marshall was able to get away from Breaker as the two had been going at each other at ringside. Marshall delivered a dropkick on Jones from the back allowing Ross to use the leverage for a roll up as the referee hit the mat 1-2-3.

Missouri Wrestling Revival Book Review: The Somebody Obsession- A Nobody’s Desperate Journey to Stardom by Matt Murphy

People are often discussed with the notion that societies are black and white. In the world of wrestling it is magnified even more so: promoters are people looking to use their wrestlers, the wrestlers are loose cannons, and the fans, well, we are all missing a few pieces to the puzzle.

The truth of the situation is that each one of us can fit that description at one point during our life. Life is not easy and sometimes the desire to succeed can turn a great payout promoter to struggle to pay his wrestlers, cause a wrestler with all the tools to succeed to become bitter, or have a hard working fan get so upset during a match that he does or says something he/she regrets.

For many, wrestling is a way of life. Whether you work in the sport or you just love cheering on your favorite wrestler, we just can not get enough of the wild world of pro wrestling.

At Missouri Wrestling Revival.com, you have seen many of the stars of the Midwest go after titles, do promos and travel town to town in the hopes of getting noticed. Each man and woman has a tale to tell.

One man with such a story to tell is “All That” Matt Murphy. Murphy grew up in the Midwest, not with a silver spoon in his mouth but with hardships and a love of pro wrestling.

His story talks to the reader with an honest look at himself, his friends, and even his closest peers in wrestling.

His first claim to fame was being named “The first graduate student of former World Champion Harley Race’s Wrestling Academy” but what a trip it was to become that.

Murphy makes you feel like you were right there as he struggles to become a man as a teenager to coming back home as a boy that lived his dreams. Stories of who helped him and who took their advantages of himself and other wrestlers are high points throughout the book.

This is easily a must read for any wrestling fan or aspiring young boy that truly wants a taste of a guy who has had the opportunity to make it to Japan and the disappointment of not making it to the WWE.

Matt Murphy was able to see his friend and fellow WLW Alumni Trevor Murdock make it to the WWE with much success. Hear his thoughts on that, as well as his time working with Ian Rotten’s IWA Mid-South along with current WWE Superstar CM Punk. What kind of impression did former wrestlers Big Van Vader and Meng leave on him plus stories of his time with Pro Wrestling NOAH.

I have had the pleasure of working with Matt Murphy in the past and this book gives us a true look at the man who has been a winner, a underachiever with much self doubt, a self proclaimed asshole, and a man who by all means overachieved and did not appreciate it.

After my final assessment of Murphy with working with him and reading his books, I feel as if he is one of wrestling’s best kept secrets. Matt Murphy is a man who has a wealth of wrestling knowledge that just does not sugar coat his thoughts. If given the chance I have no doubt that Murphy is capable of improving the world of wrestling as we know it today.

His book delivers with a must read story for every fan that loves wrestling.
