Pictures comments by Brian “Flair” Kelley

Mr. K made a special announcement to start the night, he was joined ringside with Brian Scrilla with a ring Bell in hand. Brian Scrilla then announced that MECW had a special Family member in attendance that night. He also announced that this MECW Family member was named the special guest Bell Keeper for the evening. Ricky Lynn was honored to be the Bell Keeper for the evening to show respect to him as was going into surgery that Monday!!!! GOOD LUCK RICKY!!!!!!!!

1.)”Pride of Peoria Champion” Eric Allen defeated Jad Hamilton with a corkscrew face buster. Mr. K upset with Eric Allens cheating throughout the match forced Eric Allen to fight in another match.

2.) Jordan McEntyre defeated “Pride Of Peoria Champion” Eric Allen with a school boy pin. Everyone thought that Jordan McEntyre had just become the new “Pride Of Peoria Champion” and the place erupted with cheers. Eric Allen quickly got on the mic and informed everyone that the first match he was in was to defend his “Pride Of Peoria Championship” Belt not against Jordan McEntyre!!! So Eric Allen was still the “Pride of Peoria Champion” He also stated that he would defend the belt when he said so not when Mr.K wanted him too!!!

3.) Brian Scrilla defeated 1/2 of the MECW Tag Team Champions: Huge In Japan: Jimmy Rockwell with the Heart Punch. XXXpicit Content came out to rear their ugly heads lead by Bailey Mannix before the match and not only to say what was on their mind but to make fun of the largest group of MECW Family that shows up the FUZZY HAT CLUB!!! With black fuzzy hat’s they did their job but not without being booed even more It didn’t take long for Mr.K to run them off from ring side and get the match underway but after Scrilla secured a victory XXXPLICIT CONTENTS Ricky Kwong & Ryan Slade attacked Brian Scrilla, who was quickly saved by the Bayou Outlaws!!!!

4.) Krotch defeated ½ of the MECW Tag Champs: Huge In Japan: “The Asian Sensation” Ricky Kwong with the Krotch Rocket. Krotch came out to ask the MECW Family “WHAT…..IS……SHAKE’N!!!!!” But on a more serious note to let the MECW Family know that his match last month against the MECW Independent Champion: Gabriel Brimstone was his greatest match and challenge ever!! He also wanted a rematch against the MECW Independent champion but before we could get an answer he was interrupted by Huge In Japan once again. In which they told Krotch to quit his whining that no one wanted to hear him complain!! To just accept his lose and move on. Krotch quickly challenged Huge in Japan for their MECW Tag Team Championships!!!! Huge In Japan let Krotch know that he had to earn his spot, they just don’t let anyone face them for the MECW Tag Belts!!! But Mr. K quickly came to ring side and forced Ricky Kwong to face Krotch with the stipulation being that if Krotch beat Kwong then he would be able to challenge Huge In Japan next month’s MECW May 23rd show for the MECW Tag Titles!!!! But after the match Huge In Japan attacked Krotch but only to be stopped by the MECW Independent Champion: Gabriel Brimstone!!!!!!

5.) “The Canadian Sex Icon” Ryan Slade defeated MECW Independent Champion: Gabriel Brimstone via DQ. After a whole match of cheating by Ryan Slade, who even went far as removing his wrist tape and trying to choke the life out of Gabriel Brimstone!!!! Brimstone quickly grew tired of Slades cheating and shoved the ref on the way to attack Ryan Slade and getting himself Disqualified!!! Before Ryan Slade could escape he was DDT for his troubles! Then when the Ref: Waldo tried to get Brimstone under control but was almost DDT for his troubles. Huge In Japan once again tried to attack Gabriel Brimstone but were given a double DDT. The one thing that this journalist finds odd his that Krotch didn’t make it to ring side to save Gabriel Brimstone. In fact he didn’t show up at all. But before it was all said and done Mr.K came out and told XXXplicit Content and Huge in Japan he was tired of all the interference!!! So as punishment to them XXXplicit Content’s: Huge In Japan and Ryan Slade were forced to face The Bayou Outlaws and Brian Scrilla in a 6 man tag match after intermission!!!!

6.) XXXplicit Content’s: Huge In Japan & Ryan Slade defeated The Bayou Outlaws and Brian Scrilla after “Lovely” Leon threw salt in Aaron Masterson eye’s and Ricky Kwong delivered a reverse thrust kick shades of the Great Kabuki picked up the pinfall victory. Bayou Outlaws and Scrilla seemed to have the match well in hand especially after Maddog McDowell and Brain Scrilla connected with a huge double flapjack. But XXXplicit Content stole the victory and almost escaped. Unfortunately for Ryan Slade he stayed out their too long cutting down the fans making mention that he was gonna sweep the battle royal for the Great Plaines Trophy!! Even mentioning that the first person he was going to eliminate was the overweight, ugly, and slow Brian Scrilla because after all he’s beat him once and cost him a match. While Slade wasn’t looking Brian Scrilla snuck back into the ring and leveled Ryan Slade with a clothesline and a Swinging Neck breaker, then finished him off with a heart punch!!!! Ryan Slade couldn’t leave under his own power which forced XXXplicit Content to have to carry him off!!!!

Will we see the “Canadian Sex Icon” at the battle royal?? Guess will find out what his health condition is at the May 23rd show.

7.) Mark Sterling defeated Mike Sydal with a power bomb then made him tap with a sharpshooter the match was high fling and high impact, with Sydal doing the flying and Mark Sterling doing the impacting. Sterling did everything to keep Sydal down but he couldn’t stop the high flying ability. Sydals seem to be over confidence after an earlier win from Sterling at MECW at a past show. Add in the craftiness of the ring veteran Sterling and it was all she wrote for Mike Sydal when he caught the fan favorite off the top with a power bomb and a Sharp Shooter to boot!!!!

8)Rebel Lucha defeated Eric Fantabulous in both of their MECW debuts. The wild and crazy RebeL Lucha excited the crowd with quick moves and fast strikes. Fantabulous was able to slow him down and attempted to make the mask man tapped with an arm bar. Rebel Lucha was able to get loose on way to a big win a MECW

9.) Zach Thompson defeated Dewey “Booger” Dawson, Evan Money, and Bailey Mannix in a Fatal Four Way Match for the MECW Heavyweight Championship. With the three keeping Bailey Mannix out of the match it seemed all but won with the high fling ability of Zach Thompson and Evan Money anything was possible. You couldn’t count out Dewey Dawson strength and power!!! In the end Bailey Mannix got the accidental tag and began cherry picking opponents but ended up being eliminated to the outside of the ring. Highly upset, Bailey Mannix grabbed a chair right as the ref was knocked down, then he leveled the current champ Dewey Dawson, then Zach Thompson, but before he could get Evan Money. Evan caught him with a leg lariet of his own which knocked the chair in the face of Bailey Mannix sending him to the outside. Evan then put him down with a senton dive from the top rope to the outside. Unfortunately for Mannix though is that when he struck Zach Thompson with the chair he fell on the prone body of Dewey and when the ref came to, he counted the 1,2,3!!! WINNER and the NEW MECW Heavyweight Champion: “The Unbreakable” Zach Thompson.

MWR April Awards

Posted by flairwhoooooo on May 9, 2009

MWR’s April 2009 Awards!

The pro wrestling season typically heats up in the Spring and into early Summer.  May is a time to look at what has happened thus far in the year, and make educated predictions as to what is yet to come.  On that note, the April 2009 Awards should serve as a measuring stick when playing fortune teller.  Here are the winners, as voted by the MWR Awards Committee:

April 2009 Wrestler of the Month

Mark Sterling
(3XW, LWA, SCW, PWP, DPW, PWE, IWA, MECW, AAPW HVW)

Sterling is also one half of the tag team champions at 3XW with Gage Octane (Gentelmans Club). A student of the game Sterling rarely gets outwrestled.

aapw-logo

The quality of the AAPW show in Nashville on April 25th was possibly their best since last year. Our first time in this town, they had a paid attendance of 155. Not too shabby. The crowd was HOT. Yes, it was a bit warm in the Community Center, but not that kind of hot. The card was solid top to bottom. The crowd was so happy that The Nashville Moose Lodge, who raised $1,000 from the event, asked AAPW to set aside 4 more dates for fall and winter of 2009/2010!

1st Runner Up – MMWA-SICW
2nd Runner Up – IWA Productions

The MWR Family

One of our awards committee members wrote, “The two main men behind MWR. They do a lot of work, research & writing to help promote independent wrestling across the Midwest. They also log tons of hours in driving time to personally attend shows and support various companies around the Midwest”

(On a personal note, although we appreciate the gesture from the MWR Awards committee, both Josh and I abstained from voting in this category out of respect to the rest of the hard working men and women in the Midwest pro wrestling scene. We would also like to include Kari Williams who is a wonderful writer and the true talent of the three of us.)

1st Runner Up- JJ Merrick
2nd Runner Up – The Mad Conservative Crimefighter
3rd Runner Up – Travis Cook

Others receiving votes: Mark Storm

PWE’S Debut by the numbers of attendance was a little disappointing with the star power and talent on the card to be honest. With that said they should their head up high in the fact that they provided the wrestling scene in the Midwest with some of the top stars in the sport.

PWE management spoke to MWR and felt that they were happy to get their first show on the books. They hoped to improve on several areas’ themselves and felt that the show was a learning experience. PWE wanted to thank the wrestlers for giving a 100 percent and the referee’s that step in on such short notice. Last but not least they wanted to thank the fans for the support and hope that they keep an eye our for the next PWE show.

Till then PWE has teamed up with High Voltage Wrestling to bring the PWE Tag Team Champions to Granite City, IL on May 9th to defend their titles against one of the top tag teams in the Midwest, The Hooligans. HVW returns with a great night of action and some of the top stars in the country. The HVW Champion Donovan Ruddick, The Livewire Champ Kahagas along with all your favorite wrestlers in a card named “Peace and Blood”. For more information go to High Voltage Wrestling.

I would like to thank PWE for the invite to their debut show and would like to wish them the best in 2009 and beyond. To keep up with PWE please check out their myspace at PWE.

PWE Championship Match
Al Snow Vs “Bloody” Harker Dirge

Judging by the video promos of this match, I fear that Snow may be taking Dirge a bit too lightly. However, Snow is a veteran and has seen it all…Dirge will probably give him a tougher fight than expected, but I see the former WWE titleholder coming out on top. PREDICTION: Al Snow

PWE US Championship Match
Mephisto Vs Sly
These two know each other very well, having been both tag partners and opponents in their careers. Sly has the advantage in speed and agility, but lack of size may be his downfall as I see Mephisto overpowering him in this one. WINNER: Mephisto

PWE Tag Team Championship Match
North Star Express Vs Zero Gravity

This should be an outstanding tag team matchup between two of the top duos in the Midwest wrestling scene. The Northstars seem to be the more well-rounded duo and I see them emerging victorious. WINNERS: The Northstar Express

Triple Threat Contenders Match
Arik Cannon Vs Mike Sydal Vs Kyle Rich

Triple threat matches tend to be unpredictable…the third man in the ring can often break up a certain victory by one of the other two. I give this one to Cannon due to the experience edge. WINNER: Arik Cannon

Jeremy Wyatt Vs Jason Lyte of The Hybrids

Will be interesting to see Lyte in singles competition as I’m used to seeing him in tag team action…it should be a tremendous Matchup, but Wyatt is the more seasoned singles wrestler and I see him taking this one. WINNER: Jeremy Wyatt

Mark Sterling Vs Hunter Matthews

Should be a very interesting matchup here…have been impressed with both guys in recent months. I say Sterling wins but it’ll be a close one. WINNER: Mark Sterling

Mississippi Madman Vs Issan Hadeev

Suffice it to say that it could be a long night for Issan Hadeev against the massive Madman…Hadeev will probably need every underhanded tactic in the book to deal with the Madman but I don’t know if it’ll be enough. WINNER: Mississippi Madman

Cecil Cerveza Vs Brandon Espinosa

Should be a good one…a real tossup here. Flip a coin as far as picking a winner here… WINNER: Cecil Cerveza

Matt Cage Vs Curly
Wish I could provide more insight but there are several competitors on this card that I haven’t seen that often(if at all). Interested to see what Curly has to offer though. WINNER: Matt Cage

Triple Threat Tag Team Match
Tracy Smothers & Joey Grunge Vs Sage Ramsey & Dareian Frost Vs Carnage & El Magnifico

Again, three-way matches can go in any direction…tough to bet against Smothers, but the Ramsey/Frost duo may overpower the competition. WINNERS: Tracey Smothers & Joey Grunge

Best of luck to everyone involved…hope the show goes great!

Brandon Aarons beautifies B.A.B.E.WATCH

Posted by reimaginejournalism on March 30, 2009

By Kari Williams

As “Irresistably Flawless” Brandon Aarons saunters to the ring, “Girls go crazy!” becomes his battlecry. With each flamboyant step, he anticipates cries of excitement from the girls in attendance. He foresees them fawning over his Greek god-like physique, hoping he does so much as cast a glance in their direction. The moment he steps through the ropes and flaunts his athletic prowess he lets his personality flourish. When Aarons secures victory, he delivers See You Next Tuesday, a fireman’s carry into a modified lung blower, and covers his opponent for the three count.

The Newport Beach, CA native began his career three years ago with Gateway Championship Wrestling (GCW) and has since trained with Lethal Wrestling Alliance (LWA) and Dynamo Training Gym, where he currently resides under the tutelage of Dingo. Noticing he needed something extra to stand out, Aarons established a serious training program in which he goes to the gym five days a week.

“[Other wrestlers] go to the gym all the time [and] get buff. Me? I was a little, skinny kid. Plus, I wanted to get the girls. So, I figure, I can go out somewhere, and I see all the girls looking at me, and I’m like, ‘Alright, this is cool.’ And then I see all the old guys looking at me, and I’m like, ‘You know what? I must be really good if the old dudes are checking me out too’,” Aarons said.

Once his desire to work at a more rigorous pace developed, Aarons had the opportunity to wrestle on the National Wrestling Alliance—Central States Wrestling (NWA-CSW, now Dynamo Pro) television taping in April 2008 against Adam Rich and Tony Brock in a three-way for the first Young Dynamo Cup. Boosting his credibility is the fact that he has worked on cards featuring stars such as Al Snow, Samoa Joe, Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin.

“I wrestled in front of almost 300 people up in NWA Dynamo in Kansas and then Espy [and I] wrestled as B.A.B.E.WATCH [with] IWA Productions…in January. [In the next year, I want to] wrestle in front of more people, get my name out there, get more publicity, do as much as I can to let people know that Brandon Aarons is the next breakout star in the midwest,” Aarons said.

Brandon Aarons and Brandon Espinosa formed B.A.B.E.WATCH in May 2008 and currently have their sights set on gold.

Aarons joined forces with “Thee” Brandon Espinosa in May 2008 when their tag team, B.A.B.E.WATCH, debuted in LWA. The duo has wrestled for LWA, New Midwest Wrestling and High Voltage Wrestling (HVW), among other companies. The skill set they possess, and the attention they receive, allows them to stand out, despite Aarons keeping their key moves secret.

“[Espinosa has] his Mexican flying burrito skills, and I [have] my ridiculously good looking things that I do, which is everything. Plus, Espy and I get fan mail. Granted 99 percent of females that attend wrestling shows are complete trash, and I would never converse with them in my entire life—not even through a mutual friend…But B.A.B.E.WATCH…stands for ‘Girls, girls, girls want our bodies, but they cannot touch us so we wrestle ugly dudes and beat them unless they cheat. You know, like the Ego [Express] did on Jan. 24, the day after my birthday,” Aarons said.

Espinosa utitilizes the time spent together to develop their proficiency and skillfulness in the ring.

“As singles competitors, we are able to show one another what is great about each other, which helps us create our tag team aurora. Strategies are pretty much the same [though]. [We] use each other to the other ones advantage,” Espinosa said.

Having a love for the sport since he was 11 years old, Aarons understands his expectations and responsibilites as a wrestler but while balancing a full time college schedule knows he is limited.

Due to his hardwork and dedication, Aarons, along with others such as Mike Sydal, was named as one of the next wave of breakout stars on Missouri Wrestling Revival (MWR) Owner Josh Ray’s, “2008 Year End Awards and Reflective Celebration” post. Aarons feels that he deserves the credit bestowed upon him.

“I don’t blame [MWR] at all [for selecting me] because if I’m going to train this hard, I better be getting something out of it. But guys like Mike [Sydal], he’s pretty talented. I mean, he’s probably almost just as good as me. Almost. You know, he’s got charisma; he’s got skill. Something I think that I possess as well because I’m irresistably flawless,” Aarons said.

Wrestling for approximately two years, Sydal became an interim member of B.A.B.E.WATCH in Dec. 2008 and appreciates the recognition bestowed upon himself and Aarons.

“It was nice to read that, honestly, because it means people are noticing our hard work. I know both of us can live up to those expectations. We both work hard in and out of the ring, always training in the ring and in the gym,” Sydal said.

Aarons feels secure with his work ethic and plans to prove Ray correct in the coming months. The irresistably flawless one competed in a number one contender’s match for the Heavweight Title against “Future” Donovan Ruddick, J.C. Bravo and Dorian Victor on March 6 for LWA to attest to that fact. In the same month, he wrestled in HVW against Kahagas, who ranked at 373 on Pro Wrestling Illustrated’s PWI 500 for 2008.

“I can guarantee that I can get a reaction out of anybody no matter what I do, whether I’m shaking hands or pulling down my tights to expose my rock hard abs. I [have] skill, I [have] talent, I [have] charisma. My pecs are good. My triceps are good. My biceps are good. I’ve got rock solid thighs, I’ve got great hair. Those guys on that list, some of them might have some of it, some of them may have none of it, but I have all of it,” Aarons said.

The flamboyant Sydal has grown to know Aarons and thinks highly of his some-time partner.

“Brandon Aarons is a young, hungry, up-and-comer with a great body—a nice hard, tight, young body. He is a skilled wrestler with a chiseled and hard, tan look with a young face. [He has a] great boyish face with a toned physique that captivates you so you can’t look away,” Sydal said.

Aarons can back up such statements because he has girls “sending [him] e-mails [and] messaging [him] on MySpace.” Despite his claims, many fans harass Aarons with accusations of being homosexual, which he firmly denies.

B.A.B.E.WATCH plans to broaden their horizons within the next year. ‘We hope to wrestle as much as we can, capture as much gold–because it looks so good around our waists–and spread the word and looks of B.A.B.E.WATCH,’ Espinosa said. Photo by Brian “Flair” Kelley

“We look good. We wear professional-looking gear. I look professional. Espy looks professional. Mike definitely looks professional. His brother is Evan Bourne from WWE. You can’t get more professional than that…What’s gay about us? We don’t do anything gay. We wrestle. That’s what we do. We wrestle. We perform. We get out there. Take names. Kick ass …So, definitely not gay. Not gay at all,” Aarons said.

After working with Sydal semi-regularly for three months, Aarons has no problem with Sydal’s addition to B.A.B.E.WATCH.

“Us good looking guys, we have to stay together because in the wrestling business. It’s hard to find good looking guys, just as hard as it is to find good looking girls…The three of us together has been awesome. B.A.B.E.WATCH as a whole is obviously, Brandon Aarons and Brandon Espinosa, but what do we want? We want babes. What does that ‘S’ stand for? Sydal. He’s the missing link, so if he wants in, he’s in,” Aarons said.

Regardless of the fans’ perception of the irresistably flawless one, he and Espinosa hope to excel as a team, with Espinosa stating that they are on a quest for gold. Before the dashing duet proves themselves in tag team title matches, Aarons must first contend with his opponent at LWA’s next show on April 4 in O’ Fallon, IL. PWP’s Year of the Phoenix IV recap 2-28-2009

Posted by flairwhoooooo on March 12, 2009

pwp1

PWP- YEAR OF THE PHOENIX IV is in the books, and it will go down as one of the biggest and most special nights in company history! We had a great turnout, despite the bitter cold, as we said goodbye to a local legend – the one and only Hype Gotti. We kicked the evening off with a super hot tag team contest:

1.) Zac James and Preston Maxwell came out with a huge key, which they claimed was the key to the Council Bluffs Armory. They claimed THEY were the reason we couldn’t get into the building last month, as they stole the key to turn the armory into “Zac & Preston’s Den of Debauchery”. This brought out the PWP Tag Team Champions, “The Knights of Fire” – Jaysin Strife & Vic Victory. The champs offered to put their belts on the line, if Zac & Preston put the key on the line! After an exciting bout, Strife & Victory were victorious, retaining their titles, and becoming the new keepers of the key to the Council Bluffs Armory!

2.) Nate Bash made his return to PWP, taking on Stephen Saint. Saint controlled most of the match, grounding the high-flying Bash – however in the end, Bash scored the upset victory.

Up next, in a total surprise – SONJAY DUTT made his return to PWP! Sonjay went on to say that its no secret that he and Hype Gotti are very close friends, and that if Hype was having his last match – he wasn’t going to miss it! Sonjay then asked to be added to the match itself, making it a 3-Way Dance for later in the evening!

3.) Up next, Joey Daniels was set to square off with Donnie Peppercricket. Before the match, Donnie asked Joey why he slapped him in the face at the last show – Joey explained that he was simply caught up in the moment, and that he was sorry, the two then shook hands, and agreed to have a clean wrestling match, in the name of sportsmanship. A back and forth, even paced match followed, however, in the end, Joey hit his supposed best friend with a low blow, and pinned him with his feet on the ropes…..so much for sportsmanship.

4.) #1 Brett Young took on the highly entertaining Yellow Dog. Dog held his own with the Las Vegas veteran, but in the end, the Dog was tricked into a game of fetch, allowing Young to ambush him with “The One Shot” to pick up the victory.

5.) “The Anarchist” Arik Cannon battled one half of the Northstar Express, Ryan Cruz. Last March, these two gave us one of the greatest matches in PWP history, thus, the rematch was highly anticipated – and these two men did not disappoint! In the end, Cannon connected with “The Glimmering Warlock” to score the win. Cannon then helped Cruz up and the two shook hands in a true display of respect.

6.) Mark Sterling battled the debuting Mike Sydal. Sydal was very impressive, showing that his brother (WWE’s Evan Bourne) isn’t the only impressive athlete in the family – however in the end, the more experienced Sterling was victorious. Despite the loss, Sydal looks to have a very bright future in PWP.

7.) Up next, Chris Havius took on “Babyface” Tony Cortez. Cortez controlled a lot of the match, proving why he is still one of the best in PWP – but in the end, Havius defeated the former champion with a clean 1-2-3. Havius then stated that while he has been in PWP since day one, fighting through back surgery, taking on all opponents, in any type of match-up – he has never received even one shot at the PWP Heavyweight Title. He then made the following challenge for March 21st – in the following main event, if Sonjay wins the title, or if Jeremy Wyatt retains – he would challenge them to a one on one match for the title. If Hype Gotti should win the title, he would then retire as champion, and a tournament would be held in March to crown a new champion – in that case, Havius demanded to be the number one seed in the tournament, vowing that one way or another, on March 21st – he would become PWP Heavyweight Champion.

8.) It was now time for the main event, and Hype Gotti’s very last match ever!

The match would be an elimination style 3-Way Dance for “The Rebel” Jeremy Wyatt’s PWP Heavyweight Championship.

Wyatt, Sonjay, and Hype all hit high impact moves in the opening minutes, bringing the crowd to a frenzy.

At about the 20 minute mark, Hype hit the Gotti Driver on Sonjay to eliminate him from the match. Hype and Wyatt then brawled all over the armory, in and out of the ring, all the while pushing the crowd’s excitement to it’s limit.

In the end, at around the 40 minute mark, Wyatt hit in succession, his Lightning Spiral, the Angel’s Wings, and then applied a dragon sleeper – while Hype held on for as long as he could, he finally passed out in the hold, the match was stopped, and Wyatt retained. What then followed was without a doubt the most emotional atmosphere in PWP history. The locker room emptied, as Hype’s peers gave him an in-ring standing ovation, joined by the crowd at ringside – all of whom showed their appreciation for all that Hype has given to the business over the past 7 years. Hype Gotti’s career may be over, but his legacy to the mid-west wrestling scene, and especially to PWP will live forever. Thank you Hype!

We now turn our attention to Saturday Night, March 21st.

We know that Chris Havius will finally get his shot at the PWP Title, as he challenges “The Rebel” Jeremy Wyatt.

There was a very profound aura of excitement at Year of the Phoenix IV – which is sure to carry over to the 21st. No doubt, this is an exciting time in PWP, and believe us, you don’t want to miss a second of it! More details coming very soon!

All American Pro Wrestling Champion Shane Rich vs. Jeremy Wyatt March 14th

Posted by flairwhoooooo on March 3, 2009

By Brian “Flair” Kelley

All American Pro Wrestling returns on March 14 in West Frankfort, IL The AAPW Champion Shane Rich has just survived a war with “Homicidal” Steven Davis in 2008, then in January he not only retained the title against the popular Edmund “Livewire” McGuire but the MWR awards committee honored it as the January match of the month.

AAPW has delivered a Midwest dream match as Shane Rich will have his hands full when he takes on the MWR Wrestler of the Year in 2008, Jeremy “The Rebel” Wyatt. Wyatt will look to hit Shane Rich with the devastating move they call in Iowa the “Kansas Tumbleweed”; they may as well call the “Title Changer” because if he hits Rich with it then we will have a new AAPW Champion. Rich and Wyatt is a main event you do not want to miss.

You will also get to see one of the most exciting tag teams in the Midwest the AAPW Tag Team Champions The LONRS (Mark Sterling and Darrien Sanders) defend their belts against the tag team the fans voted on in the Fan Choice voting last fall, Vinyl and Vega. Vinyl and Vega had been on a roll in 2008 before they took a hiatus from the sport. They return in the biggest match that the two have ever been in. How will the ring rust affect the St Louis duo with an attitude? This will be exciting!!

After unmasking Crimson Shock on January 24th, Ty Blade will be pitted in a match with the mysterious masked man. If Crimson Shock loses, HE MUST REMOVE THE MASK AND REVEAL HIS IDENTITY!

Carnage was fired from Brooklyn Bobby’s stable and “Homicidal” Steven Davis publicly humiliated him at the last event. Carnage attacked Davis during a lumberjack match and beat Davis throughout New Beginnings Assembly. Now, Carnage not only gets Davis one on one in a match but has the opportunity to earn his first victory in almost 2 YEARS.

LWA Feb. 21 Arena Report

Posted by reimaginejournalism on March 2, 2009

By Kari Williams

LWA put on their best show of the year Feb. 21 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in House Springs, MO with 130 in attendance. From the opening match to the main event, there was not a single match that left fans disappointed.

The much anticipated and promoted six-man tag match for the LWA Tag Team Titles kicked off the night, as Evan Gelistico, Pierre Abernathy and Davey Vega tried to take down K.C. Karrington, Steven Kennedy and Gary the Barnowl. Gary and Abernathy started the match up and fought relentlessly.

However, Abernathy began to overpower Gary, giving the Submission Squad the early advantage. The moment that Gary tagged Kennedy, everything changed. Kennedy cleared the house and delivered the patented “Go That Way!” kick to Gelistico with the help of Karrington. It was not long until Abernathy was back in the ring and taking control, allowing Vega and Gelistico to double and triple team their opponents. Halfway through the bout, Tiffani LaFane cornered a confused Gary and convinced him to walk with her backstage, giving the Squad an extra advantage. Unfortunately  , LaFane’s cunning work was not up to par, becaue the Egos had more fire after Gary and LaFane flew the coop and dominated in the three on two situation to retain the tag titles.

“Future” Donovan Ruddick and XXX Jordan Lacey came to the ring next, talking about their match against LWA Heavweight Champion Jeremy Wyatt and the LWA Vice President Jewels. They proclaimed that they would rid LWA of Jewels and Wyatt, which prompted the VP to make her way to ringside.

She confessed that she cannot compete in the match and offered Ruddick a title shot against Wyatt as a settlement. Jewels also stated that “Thee” Brandon Espinosa—who came to prove the claim—would be Wyatt’s replacement in the match. Commissioner Adam Raw felt that Lacey needed a substitute as well and announced that Mark Sterling would do the honors.

After that debacle, Shorty Biggs and Dingo wrestled an impressive bout—one of Biggs’ best to date. Biggs appeared more focused on the task at hand than in previous months, and it showed, seeing as he made Dingo scratch and claw for a victory.

Filled with technical wrestling and pure athleticism, these men went toe-to-toe, with each man only mere milliseconds away from securing a win. In the end, with both men fighting with everything, Dingo defeated Biggs, who offered his hand to Dingo as a sign of respect.

Super Electro took on Shamus O’ Flannery in an electrifying, fast-paced bout. Complete with an electrical shock to O’ Flannery and multiple high-risk maneuvers on O’ Flannery’s part, it was hard to find anyone who did not enjoy this match.

Although not lengthy, O’ Flannery proved his worth when he secured his first victory since returning to LWA over Electro after a frog splash.

The ever-flamboyant Mike Sydal was in action next against “The Technical Messiah” Nick Tyson, in what one best describe as a personality conflict. When Sydal came to the ring, he declared that he is tight, tan and toned. Not one to sit around and wait for a fight, Tyson took it to Sydal, who put up an extroardinary fight in which each man scored multiple near falls. Sydal attempted to gain a pyschological advantage, but to no avail.

Tyson’s experience and tenacity in the ring far outweighed Sydal’s mind games. Sydal’s antics only seemed to anger The Technical Messiah, but Sydal did not go down willingly and even used submission holds against Tyson.

In the end, the flamboyant interim member of B.A.B.E.WATCH succumbed to pain and tapped out to the Gateway City Stretch.

After the match, Abernathy emerged to attack Tyson, which was followed by the entire Submission Squad and Gary.

Dingo made the save for Tyson with the aid of a steel chair, chasing the Squad away. Tyson and Dingo then revealed an alliance through a handshake.

Once the intermission ended, LWA President Luke Roberts and Raw came out to celebrate Mardi Gras and throw beads to the fans. Roberts then brought up the former LWA wrestler he wanted to bring back, and Raw revealed that he himself was the only wrestler who would stand up for the fans and bleed LWA. Jewels then brought up the fact that Raw turned his back on LWA one year ago, stated that Raw would have to work his way up and she will make it as difficult as possible.

“Irresistably Flawless” Brandon Aarons took on the masked newcomer Dash Rando. Unsure of Rando, Aarons looked reluctant to begin.

Rando quickly got the fans on his side, while the fans got to Aarons with their catcalls and accusations. Despite being new to LWA, Rando put up an impressive fight against Aarons, but Aarons held his own and did his best to overpower Rando.

Ultimately, Rando’s abstract arsenal proved too much for the “Irresistably Flawless” one, and Rando racked up his first victory with the company.

Aarons’ counter-part, Espinosa, was in action next, teaming with Jewells against Lacey and Sterling. In, essentially, a two-on-one bout, Espinosa started off against Sterling and did his best to hold his own.

Being unable to tag his partner, who refused, severely hindered his chances of winning for the team, especially when Lacey and Sterling began making frequent tags.

At one point, when Espinosa was down, Lacey nearly got his hands on Jewels, but, out of nowhere, Sterling lunged at his partner, and prevented him from doing so.

Jewels waited on the outside and Espinosa walked away as Dorian Victor came to attack Lacey, ending the bout in a no-contest.

The main event, with Ruddick challenging Wyatt for the Heavweight Title, proved how much these two competitors want that belt. They held nothing back, and Wyatt began attacking Ruddick before the bell even rang, trying to gain the unfair advantage.

Wyatt’s underhanded tactics did nothing to deter the 6’9” monster, who terrorized Wyatt inside and outside the ring. At one point, Ruddick had Wyatt in the air and planned to slam him into a table located next to the entrance ramp, but Wyatt countered and sent Ruddick flying.

Before Ruddick had a chance to cover Wyatt for the three count, Sterling and Victor interfered, allowing Wyatt to steal the win with a roll up.

Sterling disclosed that after his match against Wyatt back in June that he knew they had to team up. He went on to say that Wyatt is the champion and the brains, and he is the muscle in the group. Then he made it known that Victor was never poor, that it was just a cover up, and Jewells was behind all of it.

To find out how this feud develops, do not miss the second LWA Double Shot on March 6 and 7. The first night is in Granite City, IL and the second in O’ Fallon, IL. For more information go to lwawrestling.com.
