Posted by flairwhoooooo on June 8, 2011

The talents of Michael Barry has earned him time in a WWE ring in the past while his charisma and hard work is the reason so many fans call him MR Saturday Night.

MWR is proud to have Barry as a part of the MWR Trading card series. Barry trained under former Central States great Sonny Myers as he has kept busy building a reputation as one of the very best outside the MWR coverage area.

When we saw Barry for the first time at Metro Pro Wrestling it was easy to see why WWE has taken notice of the man that fans call MR Saturday Night. Recently Michael Barry came within seconds of defeating Tyler Cook for the NWA Kansas Championship in Kansas City earlier this year.

Look for the Charismatic and exciting MR Saturday Night Michael Barry at a show near you.

Is “Mean” Mason Beck the BIGGEST and most feared Wrestler in the Midwest today?

Posted by flairwhoooooo on April 8, 2011

Photobucket

You may laugh at the fear in that kids eyes in the back but I have seen the same look ringside for some of Becks victims in the ring.

MWR fans throughout the three plus years that MWR has been in existence, there has been many who feel that wrestling’s nastiest wrestler has been “The Rebel” Jeremy Wyatt, there is very few that would argue that the hardest working wrestling is none other than Mark Sterling but what about the biggest and most feared wrestler today?

While no wrestler in the Midwest is more loved than the Mississippi Madman, he brings to the ring a softer side during his matches. In the past the name that was mentioned for feared was “The Future” Donovan Ruddick who currently resides in WWE’S developmental system with FCW under his new moniker DT Porter.

Ruddick standing at 6”9 was a machine that the fans in ST Louis loved to see weather or not he was in a good mood or heaven forbid the man was on a war path destroying opponents on a weekly basis.

With Ruddick’s absence who do we believe is heir to his throne of the Biggest and most feared wrestler in the wrestler in the Midwest?

At the top of any list one would have to say that is “Mean” Mason Beck. Beck a powerful man in the old of Ruddick towers over the competition. What makes Beck a front runner for this title is the fact of how much speed and stamina the man possess.

We have seen recently Mason Beck bully his way around the Midwest with power moves and wrestling combined.

Beck is a former partner of Ruddick as last year the two teamed up with manager MR Late Nite to beat the Madman and his partner former WWE STAR U-Gene at Pro Wrestling Epic ; the two looked to take over the Midwest before Ruddick’s signing of WWE.

While many wrestlers in the Midwest would like to see Beck get signed and move to Florida along with Ruddick, MWR Fans we highly recommend that you get to a show near you to see Mason Beck in action soon before that happens.

Let us look at a video package of why he is MWRS pick for Biggest and most feared wrestler today

Just a few weeks ago we were in Springfield Illinois for New Midwest Wrestling where Mason Beck took on fellow rising superstar Nick Brubaker in a phenomenal match. Brubaker by no means is a push over and went toe to toe with the big man but it was breathtaking at times seeing the power of Beck being demonstrated at times during the match on Brubaker.

Yet MWR may be wrong fans who else could be the man that puts fear in the Wrestlers heart?

In alphabetical order

Alexander Rudolph

Photobucket

Young and wild is words that come to mind for this Metro Pro Wrestling and NWA Dynamo star. Rudolph has been recently been seen around the Midwest more frequent the first part of the 2011 causing alarm for many young wrestlers. Led by manager Sadie Blaze winning has not seemed to be the objective as much as hurting people.

Brian Ash

Photobucket

Ash the current 3XWrestling Champion is intimating to say the least. He brings to the ring a ring presence of power and respect. He is the main reason that Genesis has had the edge over the fan favorites at 3XWrestling

Bull Schmitt
Photobucket

Schmitt is a former WLW Champion who knows how to wrestle but would rather cause trouble and hurt people like MPW Champion Derek Stone along with good friend Trevor Murdock. While Schmitt may seem fun lovin as he heads to the ring it is his roughneck ways in the ring that has his opponents running for cover.

The Dixieland Destroyer

Photobucket

Unpredictable and dangerous is what many have to say about the DixieLand Destroyer. You never know what you will get from the masked man. At times has shown a friendly side but when the bell rings he pushes his weight around in a ferocious manner. Referees and Security’s worse nightmare you never know if he truly understands the rules of the match.

Preston Maxwell

Photobucket

Maxwell was just a name on a card in the past at Pro Wrestling Phoenix but when he targeted the Big Hurt Abu Colossus last summer in a brutal feud he put the wrestling world in notice that he would no longer be forgotten. After winning the first stage of his feud he is now the PWP Champion with Abu once again knocking on his door.

Ron Powers

Photobucket

Powers has been feared for many years and age has not slowed down this monster. It looked as if time had soften the big man as he was cheered in 2010m but after feeling slighted with the love that CWC Champion Danny Boy Hawkins was receiving he went postal. MMWA-SICW promoter Herb Simmons has had to employ extra security to contain the rage of Powers during the shows in East Carondelet. Powers would win the CWC title this past March from Danny Boy with no looks of slowing down anytime soon.

Metro Pro Wrestling Champion Derek Stone welcomes you to MWR.

Has MPW Champion Derek Stone lost his mind? Dont miss Metro Pro Wrestling this weekend. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley

Prior to the March Metro Pro Wrestling show in Kansas City our good friend and current MPW Champion Derek Stone took the time to give a shout to the fans of the Midwest.

Later in the night Stone would win a three way match from Trevor Murdock and Bull Schmitt after Murdock drilled the Stone with a chair.

MPW commissioner Michael Strider came out to help the champ where he suddenly snapped and attacked Strider.

We can only hope that Stone was disoriented and did not fully understand his actions that evening.

Please join us at Metro Pro Wrestling on April 9th for a fun filled evening that you will not forget.

Lars Manderson – Working hard to live the dream of a Pro Wrestler.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on March 22, 2011

Photobucket

By Kenneth Scott

Well wrestling fans after about a year hiatus from writing and wrestling I am back. I have gone through a lot of rosters from shows around the Mid-West and I have decided to get to know Lars Manderson a little bit better.

When Lars was a kid he was captivated by wrestling at a very young age. His first live show that he can remember was a WCW (World Championship Wrestling) house show that was held at the Shrine Mosque in Springfield, Missouri. After seeing all the action packed matches he was hooked on wrestling. The characters were larger than life. He never thought that he would be big enough to some day be one of them.

Growing up as a kid him and his best friend would have matches in the backyard. They spread couch cushions all over the yard and they would do high flying stunts like elbow drops of the deck. Like all kids that are wrestling fans they had al the latest WCW or WWE (well back then it was WWF) video games. They spent many wasted hours between wrestling video games and Mortal Kombat.

Now one of the the things fans want to always know is how Lars got started in the wrestling business. Well when he decided that he really wanted to be a wrestler he had no clue where to start or even how to get in it, so he signed up for Harley Race’s Wrestling Camp. A few days after signing up for the camp his mom found an article in a magazine about a pro-wrestler from the area he was from. That wrestler was going to be signed by the WWE. This pro-wrestler was currently in the WWE training camp for up and coming wrestlers called Ohio Valley Wrestling. After reading that he put it out of his mind and thought nothing about it.

A few months after this had happened Lars was working at the Powerhouse Gym, as a trainer. While working a moderately large man with long hair walked into the gym. He knew the man looked familiar, so he went and grabbed the magazine he read about the star that was going to sign with the WWE and sure enough it was him, “Mr. Saturday Night” Michael Barry. Lars approached him introduced himself and told him he was interested in the business, so they set-up a time to sit down and talk.

Photobucket

Lars Manderson and fellow up and comer The Hoodlum realizes that to get to the top that they have to go all out every during every match.

After talking to Barry it was time to get busy and start training. While training to become a wrestler you have many obstacles to overcome and one that stood out the most for Lars was being close to a ring to actually train in. He had to travel 70 miles or more to get any kind of training in. Every time Michael Barry was booked somewhere he had to be there a few hours early and hope to get some ring time in for his training. He remembers quite well early in his training having to drive to a show in Colorado Springs, Colorado, a thirteen hour drive to get there. When he got there the promoter let him have about 15 minutes of ring time to train. After the event was over he drove straight back through Colorado, Kansas, and back home to Missouri. I know as well as anyone else that 15 minutes of job training isn’t very much but to get any training in at all I’m sure was a blessing. Lars also expressed that the other bad thing about being the rookie or the young guy is that you do all the driving. So three days with no sleep for just fifteen minutes of training to get your foot in the door is hard to do.

Photobucket

Lars had a lot of inspirations to keep training but the one that stuck out in his head the most was his dad. You may think an inspiration would be someone or something that is positive and gives you positive feedback and tells you to keep going. Well his was not the way you would think inspiration would be. His dad hated the fact that he wanted to wrestle. His dad thinks that wrestling is trashy and couldn’t understand why he couldn’t just be happy staying at home doing nothing. Every time his dad would tell him what a mistake he was making it would make him work that much harder just to prove him wrong. Lars also had the inspiration that God didn’t always bless everyone with the size, brains, and athletic ability to be successful in pro-wrestling, but was so glad that he did give him all those. “I just try to use it to the best of my ability and not waste it,” Lars said.

Photobucket

Many times when we are working so hard at something sometimes it gets so hard and so tough you just want to give up and just forget about it. Well Lars went through something like that during his training to become a wrestler.

During the second year of wrestling Lars had to quit for about 9 months to rehab a shoulder injury. This also was a time when he was having relationship problems with his wife. At this time wrestling took the brunt of the hits when it came to arguments. His wife thought that wrestling was replacing her. The worst part is that he loved his wife and at the same time he loved wrestling and both made him happy. “It was probably one of the darkest few months of my life, I was extremely depressed and fell off the face of the wrestling world for a short time,” Lars stated. Lars finally realized that there was nothing wrong for being the way he was and that to be happy he would have to be the person to try for outlandish things. Lars said, “it is better to try and fail than to never try at all.” He also said, “You will never know your limits if you don’t hit them.” Lars didn’t want to have any regrets and said, “I don’t want to become an old man and think ‘I could’ve done this,’ or ‘I could’ve done that too.’”

Lars like many other aspiring wrestlers has the same goal to be on top of the business at the highest level possible. “That doesn’t necessarily mean championships to me,” he said. He wants to be working in New York and wants to be the most loved or hated wrestler on the roster.

As a wrestler to gain popularity and also earn respect from other fellow wrestlers and wrestling companies you have to travel a lot and go to many different venues. That is no different to Lars working in promotions in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, Arkansas, and Missouri. One thing that stands out to me the most about Lars is when I asked him if he has held any championships and he told me that he doesn’t want a title unless the company wants or needs him to hold one. “I see a lot of guys that need a title to get over with the crowd, I never want to be that guy,” Lars told me. I don’t know about you but seeing Lars in person he enters the stage you just know that he wants and loves the business. He also told me, “If I can’t get a crowd to boo me or cheer for me without flashing a title around my waste then I don’t need to be in this business, a title is a prop to too many people.”

Photobucket

Look for Lars moving up the ladder in 2011.(Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

In wrestling each wrestler has a role they play either face (the good guy) or heel (the bad guy). Lars is a natural face. He tells me that it is more difficult for him to play the heel because his heel characteristics don’t quite fit his body type. He loves being a face because it comes so much easier to him. He sad “if I put the energy out there from the moment that I hit the curtain I always seem to get a good response from the crowd.”

Lars hasn’t been exposed to many tag-team matches, he tends to be more of the big singles wrestler. He prefers to do singles matches than tag teams. He does respect tag teams though especially when they do it right and look good doing it. “A well oiled tag team is a thing of beauty,” Lars said. One of his favorite tag-teams to watch is the Jetsetters (Dustin Heritage and Jack Legacy). He says they work great together and says the way they work together should be studied by most of the young and up and coming tag teams.

Now in this next section I have asked wrestlers that either Lars has wrestled or know him what they think about Lars.

“Lars is a great young talent that will do good in this business.” Michael Strider

“Mr. Saturday Night” Michael Barry has this to say about Lars, “Lars is undboubtedly one of the quickest learners I have ever came across in the ring and with the politics in the back. The kid’s got a great head for the business bottom line. Looks, charisma and a desire to be the best (secondary to me with all of those traits, of course) The only limit is gonna be himself on his future in the business. One had perhaps better pack a pair of sunglasses with this kid, because his future is bright.”

In closing I want to thank Lars Manderson for taking out the time to put up with my constant hounding through email and bugging him at a show or two. I also want to thank Missouri Wrestling Revival (https://missouriwrestlingrevival.wordpress.com/) for their help and putting this article on their website.

One more thing from Lars Manderson:
In closing, to the fans. Every wrestler deeply appreciates your cheers, your boos, every reaction that you give us. We love the autographs, the pictures, and the appreciation that you show us. Keep coming to the shows, keep getting louder, because without you we are just grow men in spandex and leather boots pretending to fight each other. You make it real. And if you’ll indulge me, I don’t care if there are 10 or 10,000 it is all the same, each and every Manderfan will be chanting my name
“Man-der-son, Man-der-son, Man-der-son” from the moment I hit that curtain, until my opponent hits the mat.

All of my Manderfans will party long after that.

So when I come to your town get to your seat and bring all your friends,
cause when Lars is in the ring the show never ends.”

Artwork of Stacey O'Brien is from The Promotions Rob Schamberger

In 2008 the world was in the palms of one Stacey O’Brien. O’Brien had won the World League Wrestling Women’s Championship and was honored as the  first ever MWR Female Wrestler of the Year.

Shortly after she was sustained and injury that would keep her out for over a year and a half.

Since her return the Midwest is getting heated with some very talented ladies looking to make O’Brien’s good years past her. At Metro Pro Wrestling she went up against Lucy Mendez and found out that it would not be an easy chore to get to the top as Mendez defeated her in their first encounter.

Don’t count O’Brien out just yet in 2011 she started the year off by avenging her loss to Mendez with the goal of becoming the very best once again.

Keep an eye out for Stacey O’Brein, a champion and one of the very best in the country.

Till then pick up Stacey O’Brien’s own trading card before they sell out.

2010 Missouri Wrestling Revival Award winners

Posted by flairwhoooooo on January 27, 2011

What a great year 2010 was for pro wrestling in the Midwest. Shows throughout the Midwest showed a steady growth in an economy that is struggling.

The biggest companies in the World, WWE and TNA both had pay per views in the Midwest. Fans were able to meet the stars at TNA’S fan fest. The ST Louis Wrestling Hall of Fame honored Dory Funk JR, Bobby the Brain Heenan and Baron von Raschke with their inductions to the hall of fame during the celebration.

Wrestling returned to Kansas City in a big way when Metro Pro Wrestling debut at the historic Memorial Hall with special guest Tommy Dreamer and a TV deal on Metro Sports. Led by former WWE Superstar Trevor Murdock, the Metro roster has to step up their game if they are to be the best if they are to stand out of the 3 time WWE Tag Team Champions shadow.

We were happy to add New Midwest Wrestling to our coverage area.At MWR we have seen some of the NMW talents in past in Dan the Man and Ryan Phoenix but we quickly saw that Bobby Houston, Eric Logan and NMW Champion Jonathan Magnus are just a few that are worthy of seeing in action as well.

Once again we were able to enjoy another great PWE show at the Lincoln Balloon Festival. PWE later in the year saw Donovan Ruddick and Mason Beck go up against the fun lovin former WWE Star U-Gene and the Mississippi Madman.

We were able to see PWP get out of the grasp of the Murder Militia in a classic War Games match while on the other side of the state 3XWrestling continued their standard of providing the fans with great wrestling and an up and close look at their great website including the monthly Outside the Ring program.

In ST Louis MMWA-SICW was the 2009 MWR Promotion of the Year, but they did not rest on their laurels. They continued to train young wrestlers while bringing in some of the very best in Mark Sterling and Mike Sydal, fans where also  thrilled to see old favorites return like Danny Boy and Ron Powers.

AAPW had one of the very best feuds in the Midwest with Shane Rich turning his back on his good friend Edmund “Livewire” McGuire.

NWA Dynamo has brought back some of the GCW flavor and packed the house in a great show in the summer with Pete Madden and Mike Sharona going to war with Nikki Strychnine and Makaze in the main event.

HVW had a slow year but was proud to boast that HVW Original Santana G had made her way to Florida with a great opportunity to valet on Spike TV for TNA with Orlando Jordan.

World League Wrestling is primed to be at their very best with the young talent training at the Harley Race Wrestling Academy. Don’t be surprised to see the talents of Jason Jones, the Cancun Kid, Lucy Mendez, Jack Gamble, Brian Breaker and Ethan Wright hold titles throughout the Midwest and beyond in the near future.

IHW proved that they were one of the best with entertaining shows that grew more and more fans each time. Brandon Aarons has turned into the one of the biggest fan favorites in all of the Midwest. Eric Allen and Sean Vincent would test the skills of the rising young star.

MECW mixed hometown flavor with a dose of Windy City Wrestling, including former WWE Star Mike Anthony and the one and only Bailey Mannix along with teen heart throb Evan Money.

IWA Unlimited provided the fans of Olney Illinois with free wrestling each Wednesday. High flying and hard hitting action gave the wrestlers a chance to improve their skills in a great environment.

IWA Productions packed the house with special guest The Honky Tonk Man but it was the local fans that stole the show when Christian Rose and Danny Cannon tore the roof off the place.

NWA Supreme shows may not have that many shows but the ones they did have where filled with some of the best stars locally and nationally.

MWR wrestlers have been active working to get to the top. Mike Sydal was announced as the 2009 PWI Rookie of the year while Midwest stars Mark Sterling, Ace Hawkins, Brandon Espinosa all made appearances with Ring of Honor.

The fans and friends of Barry Ryte showed their support for their guy after he was diagnosed with cancer causing him to back out of the 2010 ECWA Super 8 tournament. Barry has shown in the ring that he has the heart of a champion, and that fighting spirit has helped him It has been announced that he has been cleared to wrestle in 2011. If we had an inspirational wrestler of the Year he would have won hands down.

Fans were blessed to have the Champion of the World Tyler Black make their way to their hometown as Tyler Black met Jeremy Wyatt at 3Xwrestling in Des Moines Iowa, while in Illinois Black went one on one with Brandon Aarons.

This fall word got out that the Future Donovan Ruddick had made his way to Florida with a developmental contract for WWE. He joined the before mentioned Black who has since lost his title to Roderick Strong but we all know the best is yet to come for Tyler Black.

I hope that you have enjoyed the coverage of all of your favorite promotions. It is with the hard work of Dubray Tallman, Mike Van Hoogstraat, Bill Smith, Gary Giaffoglione, Matt Murphy, Greg Anthony , Dartallion Allen, Mark Campos, Josh Ray and Rob Schamberger that makes the site what it is today.

We would like to thank the promoters and wrestlers that support the site for the past three years.

Last but not least thank you so much to the fans of pro wrestling in the Midwest. Take the time to see a wrestler before they become the next Superstar.

On January first we were proud to announce that Mike Chapman was named as the 2010 MWR Lifetime Achievement Award recipient. For more info on Mike Chapman click here.

Now with further ado I give you the 2010 MWR yearly awards.

2010 Wrestler of the Year

Mike Sydal-

The wrestler of the year was a close vote this year as the surge of Mark Sterling coming within votes to be named for the second year in a row for MWR Wrestler of the Year. Meanwhile Donovan Ruddick had a great push thanks to great performances in 2010 against Dave Vaughn, Mephisto, and the Mississippi Madman. Hard work would pay off for Ruddick as the opportunity that many felt was long overdue, came to pass when he was signed to the WWE developmental contract late this fall. Jeremy Wyatt and Trevor Murdock both garnered several votes thanks to what many voters voiced their respect for each of these men. Last but not least just on the outside of the voting range was Brandon Aarrons who and his former tag team partner Brandon Espinosa .

Mike Sydal toured the country in 2010 wrestling in matches each and every week. Promoters loved him, fans cheered him and the country noticed. His hard work and dedication combined with a true desire to improve earned made him the second wrestler that took part in the WLW/Noah camp that won the PWI Rookie of the Year.

Sydal was just getting started, during Wrestlemania weekend he was in California wrestling with Ring of Honor. He would continue wrestling with Ring of Honor training at their training center before making appearances on Direct TV’S HDNET against Tyler Black, Christopher Daniels and more.

In the fall Sydal returned to much fan fare. At Metro Pro Wrestling, Rock and Roll Mike Sydal was once again on TV with Metro Pro Wrestling against the former WWE Tag Team Champion Trevor Murdock.

At 3XW he was involved in one of the most emotional matches of the year when he was force to face “The Unbreakable” Zach Thompson. Thompson defeated his High Flyers’ partner Mike Sydal following a Dublin Driver in a very emotional and hard fought Loser Leaves 3XWrestling match set up by 3XW Commissioner Todd Countryman in May. Fans rejoiced when Thompson overcame the odds to defeat Brian Ash in November to allow Sydal to once again return.

Throughout the year of 2010 Sydal popped up just about everywhere good wrestling could be found.

Sydal has earned the respect of his peers and promoters and it showed in the 2010 in the final vote. Out of 14 awards committee voters the lowest Sydal got were 16.

We would like to congratulate Mike Sydal as the 2010 MWR Wrestler of the Year.

2010 MWR Tag team of the Year

Attitude Inc. (Guy Smith, Spencer Powers, and Michael Shard)

New Midwest Tag Team Champions : Attitude Inc – Spencer Powers, Michael Shard and Guy Smith

Attitude Inc is a flashy tag team that has electrified the ring at New Midwest Wrestling for the past year. All three men are former NMW Heavyweight Champions who have come together and found success. Like the Freebirds, Attitude Inc have mixed partners to their advantages. Their success and talent has won over the awards committee.

At the start of the year they dismantled the faction the Sin Club of Steve Bishop, Dave Parker and Dareian Frost in impressive fashion.

In July the they outlasted the tag teams of Logantyre (Eric Logan and Justin McEntyre) , The New Immolare (Tom Arson and Ryan Phoenix) and the Full Metal Jackals( Danny Cannon and Alex Castle) in an exciting four way match to win the NMW Tag Team titles.

In consecutive months of October and November they defeated the up and coming tag team the Full Metal Jackals (Danny Cannon and Alex Castle) to retain the NMW Tag Team Titles.

Though Attitude Inc has their hands full with the tag team of the Uninvited (Rip Mystic and Tom Arson) heading into 2011, the team can hold their head up high that MWR has named them the 2010 MWR Tag Team of the Year.

2010 MWR Promotion of the Year

3Xwrestling

3XW’s fifth year proved to be the best yet, featuring a mix of incredible wrestling, packed crowds, strong business relationships within the community, and a continuing commitment to charitable efforts.
Despite the common perception that interest in wrestling is on the decline, 3XW enjoyed consistently growing crowds throughout the year, routinely packing the Des Moines Social Club each month for events thanks to a loyal – and growing – following and strong television, radio, print and word-of-mouth advertising, not to mention the most talented roster of wrestlers in the entire Midwest.

This past July, 3XW also had the honor of being the last wrestling promotion to hold matches in historic Veterans Memorial Auditorium, a building with 55 years of wrestling history. The athletes of 3XW competed in the same building that NWA affiliates, particularly Central States, held matches years ago, not to mention some major WWE/WWF/WCW moments.

3XW’s webshow, Outside the Ring, enjoyed an increasing number of views, as did 3XWrestling.com, which was visited by thousands of fans each month.

First Runner up- Independent Hardcore Wrestler
Second Runner up- MMWA-SICW
Third Runner up- Metro Pro Wrestling

2010 MWR Match of the Year

Jeremy Wyatt vs. Tyler Black – 3XW – April 2, 2010

Spring Showdown at 3Xwrestling was a monumental night of pro wrestling featuring one of the top wrestlers in the Midwest proving to the world that he could hang with the Champion of the World.

The two wrestled to a 30-minute time limit draw in an incredible wrestling match that earned a standing ovation from the crowd after the final bell. The last minute of the match saw referee Jeromy Robb inadvertently get crushed in the corner by both men and fall to the canvas. Black quickly nailed Wyatt with a tremendous reverse brainbuster and covered him for the pin, only there was no ref to count the pin. As Black was checking on the ref in the corner, Wyatt slowly rose to his feet and grabbed Black from behind, slamming him hard with his patented Kansas Tumbleweed (Lightning Spiral) and covering him for the pin with 20 seconds remaining, only for the ref to still be out. Wyatt screamed and pleaded for the ref to get up to no avail and he even counted the pin himself. The time then ran out before a winner could be determined but the fans gave a standing ovation.

First Runner up- MECW November 20, 2010 – Bailey Mannix vs. Eric Allen – 30 Minute Ironman Match

Second Runner up- The Mississippi Madman vs. The Future Donovan Ruddick with MR Late Nite at Pro Wrestling Epic August 28th, 2010 Lincoln, Illinois

Third Runner up- Danny Cannon vs Christian Rose ladder match from IWA Productions OCC show in January 2010

2010 MWR Future Star of the Year -Sir Bradley Charles

Fans of Missouri Wrestling Revival have often asked for us to have a Rookie of the Year award. After some serious thoughts, we thought it may be easier to honor that one guy or women who we feel has the talent, skills and work ethic to make it to the next level in our sport.

Easy was by far the wrong word, after taking some time to look all around the Midwest I quickly realized that there are most defintly some hard working wrestlers with skills and talent galore.

That’s why I have to believe that this award is very deserving. The MWR Fans are full aware of the talents of Mark Sterling and Jeremy Wyatt, both former MWR Wrestlers of the Year but this is for that guy who could very well be a future MWR Wrestler of the Year and more importantly have a chance to sign with the WWE.

So without further ado, we are proud to announce the first ever MWR Future Star- Sir Bradley Charles

Sir Bradley Charles made his way to Canada to train with Lance Storm at his Wrestling Academy. Charles has worked overseas before heading back home to The King’s Court of Kansas City.

In the Midwest SBC has made his way to work a who’s who of promotions in the MWR Coverage area including HVW, PWP,3XW,NWA Dynamo and has been OVER in his hometown of Kansas City with the upstart promotion Metro Pro Wrestling.

SBC chants are often heard during his matches with some of the very best in the Midwest including Domino Rivera, Shane Hollister, Mike Sydal, Flash Flannigan and Jayden Draigo.

Recently he has been at odds with Mark Sterling in a battle over the crossfit training. Sir Bradley Charles would come up short in the challenge but there is no doubt that he is a first round pick in any promotion in the Midwest.

While SBC has youth on his side, it’s the desire to become better with each and every match that allows promoters and the fans to see that “it” factor just waiting to explode.

It is with great pleasure that we name Sir Bradley Charles as the first MWR Future Star award. J

Can Stacey O’Brien return to Championship form in 2011?

Fans have been excited at Metro Pro Wrestling to meet the former MWR Female Wrestler of the Year Stacey O'Brien (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

This past week MWR made our way to Metro Pro Wrestling in Kansas City and one of the matches that we had on our radar was Lucy Mendez vs. Stacey O’Brien.

The two Midwest knockouts had gone to battle late last fall with Mendez taking the former MWR Female of the Year to school by beating her convincingly.

O’Brien was coming off of an injury that sidelined her for over year, showed ring rust in that first match, went back to the drawing board training relentlessly for their rematch.

Was O’Brien able to even the score on the hottest female wrestler in the Midwest, Lucy Mendez? Or did Mendez continue her winning streak?
