MWR VS RING OF HONOR

Posted by flairwhoooooo on January 25, 2015

I have been sitting here for the past couple of months speaking to fans about many of the great wrestling shows in the near future. Recently Proving Ground Pro ,Pro Wrestling Championship Series, High Risk Wrestling and St Louis Anarchy that have  exciting events that featured Ring of Honor Superstars Tommaso Ciampa, reDRagon, Jimmy Jacobs, and A.C.H.

That got me talking to several fans, promoters and wrestlers in the area to fantasy book a star studded night of wrestling that would feature wrestlers from the MWR coverage area and those from one of the hardest hitting promotions in the world today, Ring of Honor.

I tried to find matches that have not been done in this area (If so very rare) that promised to be hard hitting matches that could match any in the world today. After taking a moment to check out the list, feel free to send in your choices for this supercard.

Who did we miss? Was there a better match-ups?

Please note that is all for fun and in no way do I feel there should be this many matches on a card, but in good fun we will imagine this is a supercard double shot.

Ron Powers vs Michael Elgin

 photo michaelelgin2_zpsuwq9pktv.png

 photo IMG_6168_zpsialfjkzj.jpg

In a battle between two of the most powerful men in the Midwest in the past thirty years Michael Elgin vs Ron Powers would be a sight to see. Though Powers is several years older, we have seen at SICW that he can be down right scary for his opponents . I love big men and have been thrilled to photographed these two throughout the past 6 years . Each of them are old school in their approach in the fact that they give the fans a 100 percent each and every night and I would love to lock horns in the middle of the ring in 2015.

The Black Hand Warriors vs reDRagon

 photo 0a_zpsy9uleyxx.jpg

 photo fish_kyle_zpstnz3emup.jpg

Out of nowhere the Black Hand Warriors came in 2014 to become one of the best tag teams in the Midwest. A double champion at Harley Race’s World League Wrestling  and Dynamo Pro Wrestling under the tutelage of Travis Cook, they have been involved in some of exciting wars with the BumRush Brothers and High Level Enterprise. I feel as if reDRagon are the best tag team in the world today, and have been pleading for the promoter of High Risk Wrestling , Frank Thurman to sign this match.

Jeremy Wyatt vs. Alberto El Patrón

 photo 35_zps44027f17.jpg

 photo alberto2_zps06um139s.png

To be honest I could put Jeremy Wyatt in a match with a new student of Ring of Honor and I have no doubt that it would be among the best matches on the card.  Alberto El Patrón  has the wealth, the title history advantage of a 4-time World Champion, but if I know the Rebel as well as I do he would not wilt under pressure, thus making this is an historic match that would be talked about for years.

 photo mpppp_zps8iyhzwln.jpg

Editors note: Metro Pro Wrestling delivers to their fans THIS Friday night an exciting Jeremy Wyatt match against a Ring of Honor Superstar Christopher Daniels in Kansas City. This will be the second ever match between two of the most exciting stars in the country and a match that promises to be one of the best matches of 2015.

01/31/2015 Metro Pro Wrestling (Turner Recreation Center) 831 S. 55th St. Kansas City, KS 66106 Doors open at 6:15 p.m. Event starts at 7 p.m. Front Row: $20 General Admission: $15 Kids 5-12 (Does not count front row): $10 Under 5: Free

Darin Corbin vs. R.D.Evans

 photo DC_zpscgmnmnkc.jpg

 photo rdevansbio_0_zpswmbhywwl.png

I have a feeling that this match has been done before, and if so it makes sense. Both of these men are highly entertaining, and able to deliver an enjoyable match that would be very different that the series battles that we mentioned above.

Jake Dirden vs. Tommaso Ciampa

 photo tommaso2_zpsvlh8joap.png

 photo jake-dirden_zps4mjcakik.jpg

I once heard Jake Dirden say in an interview that he looked forward to wrestling against Ciampa; therefor I offer him the opportunity in my dream card. Honestly, this match would be very awesome as Ciampa is very capable of bringing out the beast in Dirden, and it maybe for the best as he will have to be at the top of his game to survive a focused Ciampa.

The Hooligans vs. The Briscoe Brothers

 photo tumblr_m5az8dj0qM1r3fvlyo1_500_zpsr5vttykn.png

 photo 550563_515213985185032_389463958_n_zpsjfisgmyp.jpg

My favorite Tag team today, the Briscoe Brothers meeting the#1 ranked  tag team in the Midwest during the MWR years. The Hooligans and the Briscoe Brothers are an obvious choice.

Mark Sterling vs. MOOSE

 photo moose2_zpsfs9kcxrc.png

 photo 48_zps65653acc.jpg

Mark Sterling has been a man that is considered to be among the most talented men in the Midwest.  I feel that deserves a spot at the E  for his work ethic and dedication in the ring. . Moose , a former NFL football player has the size and charisma to rise to the top of the sport, so it would be interesting to pit a man with a chip on his shoulder like Sterling against an Indy darling so young in his career in the one and only Moose.

Davey Vega vs. Christopher Daniels

 photo IMG_4856_zpszyuvybb5.jpg

 photo danielsfull_zps3qsvkrab.png

Vega has proved to many in 2014 that he is capable of defeating Ring of Honor Superstars, and a win against the ultra-talented , highly versatile Christopher Daniels would cement his reputation.

The Young Bucks vs. High Level Enterprise

 photo 426a85dcd1a4d488fd9c63ffd59459b3_zpsowcf8ssw.jpg

 photo 3_zpscncrng4b.jpg

The battle of the Superkicks will be the name of the game when these two go at it. Jon Webb fresh off of his training with the Pro Wrestling NOAH Dojo, has returned to his partner Jack Gamble to train at the Harley Race Wrestling Academy becoming a team that is capable of challenging the world traveled team of the Young Bucks.

Ricky Cruz vs. Jay Lethal

 photo 19_zpsca2910a6.jpg

 photo lethalbio_zpsk6iuuod8.png

Ricky Cruz is well known for his big win capability throughout his career in the Midwest. The exciting Jay Lethal would bring the ferociousness in their match to test Ricky Cruz as the true King of Chaos.

Mike Sydal vs Matt Sydal

 photo mattsydal2_zpsykofklee.png

 photo 68_zps9469ad98.jpg

I normally hate good guy vs. good guy matches to be honest. Yes, I could have pitted them as a team against the likes of the Viking War Party, the New Midnight Express or the Professionals that would be awesome, but instead decided to have a match on the card to show why I feel as if Mike Sydal is one of the most under-utilized men in the sport today.

Brandon Espinosa vs. AJ Styles

 photo espy_zps7ewhhvay.jpg

 photo ajstyles_zpsetl13mfq.png

The ultra talented Brandon Espinosa has shown that he is capable of doing whatever it takes to get the win. A perfect opponent for A.J Styles as Espinosa is student of the game and would be very prepared to take on one of the top wrestlers today.

Gary Jay vs. Adam Cole

 photo adamcole2_zpsj1o7vprq.png

 photo 26_zps164cb711.jpg

Gary Jay is one of the longest reigning champions in the area as he currently holds onto the St. Louis Anarchy Championship while Adam Cole is a former Ring of Honor Champion. These two men have shown in the past that they are willing to do whatever it takes to win a match so it will be fun to see who comes up with what to win this match.

The Prodigy” Mike Bennett vs. Trevor Murdoch

 photo akprohase6sept6353_zpsi7qdsjnq.jpg

trevorrhodes

Mike Bennett and his First Lady of ROH Maria Kanellis, has earned a reputation to do whatever it to do whatever it takes to get the win. A top tier athlete that would have to use all of his skills and tricks to pull one over on the former 3-Time WWE Tag Champion Trevor Murdoch.

Roderick Strong vs Leland Race

 photo roderickstrong2_zpsmgegwko4.png

Jason Jones

Both of these men are driven to be the very best in the sport today.” Mr. Ring of Honor “Roderick Strong vs the WLW Champion would promise to deliver a technical masterpiece filled with backbreakers, suplex’s and uppercuts that the fans will feel from the front row to the back.

SAY IT AIN’T SO, MICHAEL STRIDER – DEREK STONE THE NEW MPW CHAMPION

Posted by flairwhoooooo on December 16, 2014

 photo 23_zps4f620436.jpg

MICHAEL STRIDER COSTS JEREMY WYATT THE MPW TITLE

The fans of Metro Pro Wrestling packed the Turner Rec Center in Kansas City, Kansas for the holiday season for a night that featured Murdoch Claus, I mean Santa Claus, and the stars of MPW. The return of MPW also featured the last match between two of the very best, as the “teacher” Ace Steel battled his “student” Adam Pearce. The war between the two escalated in and out of the ring, through the concession stand and all the way into the crowd. In the end, respect was earned and given in a magical night of wrestling that showcased everything that was right in the world of pro wrestling in the Midwest.

 photo 0_zpsebfc9319.jpg

Though the night was filled with hard hitting action that saw the bad guys win some and the good guys prevail, it was the Metro Pro Wrestling title match that stole the Christmas spirit. Shockingly, by a man the fans had shown love and respect to over the past few years. That man was Michael Strider, who would play a key factor in the MPW championship match between the reigning Kingpin Jeremy Wyatt defending his belt against the former champion Derek Stone.

The title match featured Wyatt, a man that many consider the best wrestler during the MWR years against Derek Stone a man that that has earned the reputation as one of the most dangerous men in the ring. There is no doubt that Stone is unstable and capable to do whatever he can to hurt his opponent, much less defeat him, but how he was able to pull this off is still one of the biggest mysteries of 2014.

If defending the MPW belt against a former champion was not enough, Wyatt was signed to meet the young star Geek Singh in a match earlier in the night. While the results from that match would show another victory for the champ the aftermath could not truly be put to words. Wyatt would suffer an injury thanks to the hands of his former partner Mark Sterling and The Killer City Kings when they distracted Wyatt long enough to allow Derek Stone to attack from behind leading to all four men laying into Wyatt with evil intentions before Redwing and Michael Strider were able to stop the madness.

Wyatt already injured entered the match with his ribs tapped up and it was apparent from the grimace of pain on his face that he was fighting through tremendous pain. Somehow, he was able to withstand the pounding from the big man Stone during the match, to position Stone for his patented lighting spiral, for the win. Trouble began however, when Stone countered by grabbing the referee Nick Chinn during the move, causing the referee to slam onto the mat hard enough to fall out of the ring to the floor. As Wyatt went for the pin fall the fans counted to three, but with no referee there was no official win. Though the match had taken its toll on the champion, Wyatt continued on the offense with a top rope elbow drop that was on target. Once again, Wyatt, went for the pin as the crowd counted to three and beyond.

With the referee still down and out, and Wyatt hovering over Stone for the victory out from the back came MPW’s Michael Strider in a referee shirt to count the pin. Striders hand went down for the 1, for the 2, but stopped at 3 even though Stone was unable to kick out. You could hear a pin drop at the Turner Rec Center as Wyatt looked up at Strider in shock. In a moment that seemed to stand still, Wyatt came to his feet and confronted Strider in the corner about what had just conspired. With a wicked smile on Striders face, Wyatt must have sensed that he was in dire straits because he turned around to confront Stone only to be leveled with the MPW Championship belt.

Stone quickly went for the pin, and the crowd watched in disgust as Striders hand went down for the final 3 as the MPW belt once again will be around the waist of Derek Stone.

 photo 22_zps7561539f.jpg

As one year comes to an end and another begins the fans will be anticipating the repercussions of Michael Strider’s actions during this historic match and if he and Stone will be able to withstand the revenge of the rebel.

Dynamo Pro Wrestling electrifies Fenton, Missouri

Posted by flairwhoooooo on April 18, 2014

Jeremy Wyatt has his eyes set on Jake Dirdens Dynamo Pro Wrestling Championship. In Fenton, Missouri during the presentation of Dirden’s MWR Wrestler of the Year plaque he sent a message to the champ and came within 1 second of adding the Dynamo Pro Title to his resume. – Photo credit Stephen Jones

By Patrick Brandmeyer

Dynamo Pro Wrestling returned to the Stratford Inn in Fenton, Missouri for another great night of action…it would be an eventful evening in more ways than one.

The night started with “TNT” Keny G speaking to the fans about his upcoming benefit show for stroke victims. Keny recently suffered a stroke himself and wanted to bring the St. Louis wrestling community together for a good cause.

After that, MWR’s own Brian Kelley presented two of the year-end awards for 2013; Alexandre Rudolph received one of the “Future Star” awards and Lucy Mendez was crowned “Sexiest Female Wrestler” of the year.

The first match of the night saw a battle for tag team supremacy…each duo in the triple threat match had the winner of the night’s Tag Team Title match in their sights. The seemingly mismatched duo of Evan “Money” Morris and “The Littlest Viking” Jake Parnell worked surprisingly well together over the course of the bout. High Level Enterprise(Jack Gamble & Jon Webb) seemed to be on the verge of victory, but a miscommunication between the two led to The Elitism(Brandon Espinosa & Ace Hawkins) picking up the win.

Ricky Cruz(now accompanied by Lucy Mendez) got into a verbal altercation with Executive Director Mark Bland over his lack of title shots…Bland told him to work his way up the ladder if he wanted another championship opportunity. Ricky had a tough test in the form of the returning Brandon Aarons, but Lucy’s distraction led to Cruz scoring the victory.

Dan Walsh hoped to get back on track against “Showtime” Bradley Charles, but Brandon Gallagher stuck his nose into Walsh’s business once again. While “The Alternative”‘s attempt at interference backfired, “SBC” was still able to surprise Walsh with a TKO to beat the former Dynamo Champion. Walsh nearly got his hands on Gallagher, but his blue-haired nemesis got away…leading to Walsh challenging him to a match at Dynamo’s return to Glen Carbon.

Elvis Aliaga hoped to earn his way back into title contention against Mark Sterling; it seemed like Sterling’s Crossfit experience would give him the conditioning to outlast the current WLW Champion, but Aliaga was able to escape with a quick crucifix pinfall.

Powerhouses clashed as “The Urban Legend” Kevin X locked up with Alexandre Rudolph. “The American Viking” gave the veteran a good fight and Kevin X barely edged out a win with a small package.

Brian Kelley presented the 2013 MWR Wrestler Of The Year award to Dynamo Champion Jake DirdenJeremy Wyatt took the opportunity to attack Dirden from behind, hitting him with the plaque and laying him out with the Lightning Spiral. Dirden was able to return to the dressing room under his own power, but Wyatt had scored an early advantage in their rivalry.

After being robbed of the Tag Team Titles in February, The Bumrush Brothers(Shorty Biggs & Outtkast) were fired up to reclaim what was once theirs. The Black Hand Warriors(Michael Magnuson & David DeLorean) were confident under the guidance of manager Travis Cook. The momentum swung back and forth between two of the top teams in the Midwest…but the match broke down into a huge brawl at the end. In the confusion, Magnuson accidentally knocked down his manager Cook…the BRBs pounced on their advantage and hit a double-team faceplant on DeLorean. Shorty got the pinfall and the Bumrush Brothers were two-time Tag Champs!

The fireworks didn’t end there…as Shorty and Outtkast celebrated their win, they were jumped by Mauler McDarby and Shawn Santel! The duo had been observing the show from the audience and took the opportunity to do some damage to the new titleholders…as security ejected them from the building, the Warriors looked for some post-bell retribution until Jack Gamble and Jon Webb appeared to run off their rivals!

Dirden was fired up to avenge Wyatt’s earlier beating as the Dynamo Heavyweight Title was on the line. Wyatt had the clear edge in experience, but Dirden had a ton of momentum on top of his size and power advantage. In the heat of the battle, referee Jay King was knocked down when Dirden attempted to powerbomb Wyatt into the turnbuckles…Dirden caught Wyatt in his Asiatic Spike hold but there was no official to see the tapout. Wyatt capitalized by decking Dirden with the title belt…he made the pin cover and referee King counted three!

It looked like the Dynamo Title had changed hands…but Elvis Aliaga ran out to protest the decision, telling Jay King what had happened when he was down on the mat As a result, the ref ordered the bout to be restarted…Wyatt thought he had added another belt to his collection but it was not to be. In the end, Dirden’s power made the difference as he chokeslammed Wyatt to the mat for the win to retain his championship! Dirden was the winner and Wyatt immediately blamed the loss on Aliaga, sparking a fight between the two…what was Aliaga’s motivation? Was he ensuring that Dirden hung onto the title so he could be the one to take it from him?

Dynamo started a busy month at the Stratford Inn in Fenton…and things promise to get even more exciting as Dynamo returns to Glen Carbon and Off Broadway in the next coming days!

History was Made in Otterville, Missouri, Devyn Nicole Wins the WLW Ladies Championship

Posted by flairwhoooooo on March 15, 2014

 photo 2_zps5df1233c.jpg

WLW was filled with exciting and shocking moments in Otterville, Missouri last night as fans were on the edge of their seats from the start.

With the debut of WLW trainee Kyle Roberts, plus a man that my friend Jack Tierney calls the “Giant Killer” (after victories over Mark Sterling and former WLW Champion Brian Breaker) Jon Webb once again upset Sterling, and a new tag team of John E. Rock and Jamell Harris proved that they could take a beating as the Black Hand Warriors left them bloody and battered. WLW Champion Elvis Aliaga proved once again that he will do whatever it will take to hold onto his Championship as he delivered vicious shot with the belt to Jack Gamble secure a victory as referee Richard White was knocked out .

While fans had a lot to be excited about it would be a historical moment in the young career of Devyn Nicole when she was able to defeat Stacey O’Brien for the WLW Ladies Championship. Nicole who has trained under Mr. Hughes (a man that had been managed by the “Greatest Wrestler on Gods Green Earth Harley Race in WCW.) In the past Nicole had been overmatched several times against the 2-time MWR Female Wrestler of the Year, O’Brien, but in a quick moment Nicole proved that she has the championship quality of never giving up as she was able to have her hand raised in victory.

Via the new WLW Ladies Champion Devyn Nicole Facebook page we were able to get a statement from her on her feelings of the night “Tonight, I became your WLW Women’s Champion! Special thanks to Mr. Harley Race for the opportunity to make a home with his company

 photo dn_zps281e7be0.jpg

Winning a Championship is truly an accomplishment but now the young Nicole is the hunted when she walks into the danger zone in Richmond, Missouri on April 19th when the stars of WLW return. Already signed for the new Champ will be a three way match against two of the top female stars in country Stacey O’Brien and the current MWR Female Wrestler of the Year “Miss Natural” Heather Patera .

For more information on this exciting night be sure to check out the WLW website and MWR for updates as they come in.

 photo MWRYEARBOOKPROWRESTLINGTEES_zps4cbd53ae.jpg

It is with great excitement that we are presenting the 2013 MWR Yearbook.

Since 2008 Missouri Wrestling Revival has supported the men and women in pro wrestling in the Midwest. Throughout the past 6 years we have had the support and assistance of many great people. From the promoters that work hard to promote shows with their hard earned money and deliver an exciting night for fans to remember to the wrestlers that have driven miles and miles down the road each and every weekend. We have worked closely during the years with many of the top writers, photographers, artist and fans that have true love and respect for the sport.

Each year the yearbook in my opinion is a testament for all the hard work that everyone has done to keep pro wrestling alive in the Midwest. No matter if you have contributed to the yearbook or MWR website this year or if the last time was when the site first opened, please know that you are part of the MWR family and a positive reason for the success of the site.
