Ron Powers goes berserk !!!

Posted by flairwhoooooo on February 24, 2011

By Brian Kelley

Shocking developments at MMWA-SICW in East Carondelet this past Saturday.

Missouri Wrestling Revival were all set to present the trophy awarded to the Classic Wrestling Champion Danny Boy Hawkins for becoming the first CWC Champion this past January in the one night tournament.

The fan favorite Danny Boy had just had a great win in a war with “The Worlds Fittest Wrestler” Mark Sterling. Afterwards MMWA-SICW Commissioner Keith Smith and MWR’S Dubray Tallman surprised Danny Boy with the trophy in the middle of the ring.

The champ took time to thanks his fans and family for their support and wanted to give a special thanks to his very best friend Ron Powers.

Powers is one of the most feared men in St Louis, had defeated MMWA-SICW Heavyweight and TV Champ Gary Jackson by count out earlier in the night came into the ring to give his friend a hug and congratulations.

Dubray was on her way out of the ring to let the two friends cherish the moment when promoter Herb Simmons asked Dubray to come back for MWR photographer Mike Van Hoogstraat to take a photo for the media.

Mike shot the photo…..then it happened Ron Powers delivered a clothesline from hell on his good friend, while Dubray ran for cover. Powers then went on a rampage destroying the trophy and continuing the beat down on Danny Boy while the crowd was stunned.

Thankfully Gary Jackson came in the ring on Danny Boys behalf but not before the damage was done. It was clear that Ron Powers had sent the message to the whole locker room, he was not to be trusted and everyone should watch their backs.

What will the following months at MMWA-SICW bring as Danny Boy, Ron Powers and Gary Jackson all have unsettled business to be taken care of.

Thanks to Mike Van Hoogstraat for sharing with you photos of this historic moments in St Louis Wrestling.

By Brian Kelley

Wrestling fans, we were excited last week when our friend Herb Simmons invited us to East Carondelt Illinois for MMWA-SICW action for their special TV taping.

Photobucket

Danny Boy at one time was considered the best in the area….Some things never change as he has once again earned his way to the top. Do not miss Danny Boy vs. Mark Sterling for the very first time..with the title on the line. (Photo Credit Mike Van Hoogstraat)

Then we were told the Classic Wrestling Champion Danny Boy Hawkins would defend his title. Hawkins won the tournament last month with a tough final victory over Brandon Espinosa and to prove that he will not back down from no man his opponent is none other than……………Mark Sterling.

Photobucket

Sir Bradley Charles future is bright but here he has his hands full with Mark Sterling at Metro Pro Wrestling ..Sterling looks to make Danny Boy’s reign as the CCW Champion very short this weekend for MMWA-SICW (Photo Credit Brian Kelley) .

Sterling is considered by many to be the top wrestler in the Midwest today and will look to add the CAC Championship to his resume.

Photobucket

Mike Sydal is not only loved by the fans and the girls but here his peers show true respect for him as Sir Bradley Charles, and MWR photographer Gary Giaffoglione and “The Rockstar” Jimmy Rockwell support the Mike Sydal super hero T-shirt...Get one for yourself.

Also announced at MMWA-SICW is the return of the 2009 PWI Rookie of the Year and most recently 2010 MWR Wrestler of the Year Mike Sydal. Sydal has been seen at Ring of Honor throughout last year, so we urge you to take the chance to see this rising star live while you still can before he is called upon from the WWE.

You will also have the chance to purchase his very own MWR Trading card #37 and have him autograph them himself before they are gone!!

Look for MWR Trading cards from these Superstars that night (if there not already sold out!!)

#2 Mark Sterling-
#5 Mike Sydal
#6 Jeremy Wyatt
#12 Brandon Espinosa
#13 Dave Vaughn
#37 Mike Sydal

Oh but that is not all. The one and only Jeremy Wyatt will be live and in action for the very first time at MMWA-SICW.

Wyatt has been one half of the Missouri Wrestling Revival Match of the Year for three years in a row!!!!

True evil makes his way to MMWA-SICW this Saturday. Can MMWA-SICW handle the aggression of Jeremy Wyatt ? (Photo Credit Bill Smith)

Often hated but never underestimated, I am thrilled to find out which MMWA-SICW Superstar will have the task of meeting the Rebel.

The night of action will be taped to air on Channel 8 in Illinois (Wild World of Wrestling will continue on 981) with legend Larry Matysik calling the play by play as your favorite MMWA-SICW Stars provide a night of action that you will not forget.

We will also be having a MMWA-SICW Superstar throw out a MWR T-shirt to one of the great fans in attendance.

2010 Missouri Wrestling Revival Award winners

Posted by flairwhoooooo on January 27, 2011

What a great year 2010 was for pro wrestling in the Midwest. Shows throughout the Midwest showed a steady growth in an economy that is struggling.

The biggest companies in the World, WWE and TNA both had pay per views in the Midwest. Fans were able to meet the stars at TNA’S fan fest. The ST Louis Wrestling Hall of Fame honored Dory Funk JR, Bobby the Brain Heenan and Baron von Raschke with their inductions to the hall of fame during the celebration.

Wrestling returned to Kansas City in a big way when Metro Pro Wrestling debut at the historic Memorial Hall with special guest Tommy Dreamer and a TV deal on Metro Sports. Led by former WWE Superstar Trevor Murdock, the Metro roster has to step up their game if they are to be the best if they are to stand out of the 3 time WWE Tag Team Champions shadow.

We were happy to add New Midwest Wrestling to our coverage area.At MWR we have seen some of the NMW talents in past in Dan the Man and Ryan Phoenix but we quickly saw that Bobby Houston, Eric Logan and NMW Champion Jonathan Magnus are just a few that are worthy of seeing in action as well.

Once again we were able to enjoy another great PWE show at the Lincoln Balloon Festival. PWE later in the year saw Donovan Ruddick and Mason Beck go up against the fun lovin former WWE Star U-Gene and the Mississippi Madman.

We were able to see PWP get out of the grasp of the Murder Militia in a classic War Games match while on the other side of the state 3XWrestling continued their standard of providing the fans with great wrestling and an up and close look at their great website including the monthly Outside the Ring program.

In ST Louis MMWA-SICW was the 2009 MWR Promotion of the Year, but they did not rest on their laurels. They continued to train young wrestlers while bringing in some of the very best in Mark Sterling and Mike Sydal, fans where also  thrilled to see old favorites return like Danny Boy and Ron Powers.

AAPW had one of the very best feuds in the Midwest with Shane Rich turning his back on his good friend Edmund “Livewire” McGuire.

NWA Dynamo has brought back some of the GCW flavor and packed the house in a great show in the summer with Pete Madden and Mike Sharona going to war with Nikki Strychnine and Makaze in the main event.

HVW had a slow year but was proud to boast that HVW Original Santana G had made her way to Florida with a great opportunity to valet on Spike TV for TNA with Orlando Jordan.

World League Wrestling is primed to be at their very best with the young talent training at the Harley Race Wrestling Academy. Don’t be surprised to see the talents of Jason Jones, the Cancun Kid, Lucy Mendez, Jack Gamble, Brian Breaker and Ethan Wright hold titles throughout the Midwest and beyond in the near future.

IHW proved that they were one of the best with entertaining shows that grew more and more fans each time. Brandon Aarons has turned into the one of the biggest fan favorites in all of the Midwest. Eric Allen and Sean Vincent would test the skills of the rising young star.

MECW mixed hometown flavor with a dose of Windy City Wrestling, including former WWE Star Mike Anthony and the one and only Bailey Mannix along with teen heart throb Evan Money.

IWA Unlimited provided the fans of Olney Illinois with free wrestling each Wednesday. High flying and hard hitting action gave the wrestlers a chance to improve their skills in a great environment.

IWA Productions packed the house with special guest The Honky Tonk Man but it was the local fans that stole the show when Christian Rose and Danny Cannon tore the roof off the place.

NWA Supreme shows may not have that many shows but the ones they did have where filled with some of the best stars locally and nationally.

MWR wrestlers have been active working to get to the top. Mike Sydal was announced as the 2009 PWI Rookie of the year while Midwest stars Mark Sterling, Ace Hawkins, Brandon Espinosa all made appearances with Ring of Honor.

The fans and friends of Barry Ryte showed their support for their guy after he was diagnosed with cancer causing him to back out of the 2010 ECWA Super 8 tournament. Barry has shown in the ring that he has the heart of a champion, and that fighting spirit has helped him It has been announced that he has been cleared to wrestle in 2011. If we had an inspirational wrestler of the Year he would have won hands down.

Fans were blessed to have the Champion of the World Tyler Black make their way to their hometown as Tyler Black met Jeremy Wyatt at 3Xwrestling in Des Moines Iowa, while in Illinois Black went one on one with Brandon Aarons.

This fall word got out that the Future Donovan Ruddick had made his way to Florida with a developmental contract for WWE. He joined the before mentioned Black who has since lost his title to Roderick Strong but we all know the best is yet to come for Tyler Black.

I hope that you have enjoyed the coverage of all of your favorite promotions. It is with the hard work of Dubray Tallman, Mike Van Hoogstraat, Bill Smith, Gary Giaffoglione, Matt Murphy, Greg Anthony , Dartallion Allen, Mark Campos, Josh Ray and Rob Schamberger that makes the site what it is today.

We would like to thank the promoters and wrestlers that support the site for the past three years.

Last but not least thank you so much to the fans of pro wrestling in the Midwest. Take the time to see a wrestler before they become the next Superstar.

On January first we were proud to announce that Mike Chapman was named as the 2010 MWR Lifetime Achievement Award recipient. For more info on Mike Chapman click here.

Now with further ado I give you the 2010 MWR yearly awards.

2010 Wrestler of the Year

Mike Sydal-

Mike Sydal (Photo Credit Scott Finkelstein)

The wrestler of the year was a close vote this year as the surge of Mark Sterling coming within votes to be named for the second year in a row for MWR Wrestler of the Year. Meanwhile Donovan Ruddick had a great push thanks to great performances in 2010 against Dave Vaughn, Mephisto, and the Mississippi Madman. Hard work would pay off for Ruddick as the opportunity that many felt was long overdue, came to pass when he was signed to the WWE developmental contract late this fall. Jeremy Wyatt and Trevor Murdock both garnered several votes thanks to what many voters voiced their respect for each of these men. Last but not least just on the outside of the voting range was Brandon Aarrons who and his former tag team partner Brandon Espinosa .

Mike Sydal toured the country in 2010 wrestling in matches each and every week. Promoters loved him, fans cheered him and the country noticed. His hard work and dedication combined with a true desire to improve earned made him the second wrestler that took part in the WLW/Noah camp that won the PWI Rookie of the Year.

Sydal was just getting started, during Wrestlemania weekend he was in California wrestling with Ring of Honor. He would continue wrestling with Ring of Honor training at their training center before making appearances on Direct TV’S HDNET against Tyler Black, Christopher Daniels and more.

In the fall Sydal returned to much fan fare. At Metro Pro Wrestling, Rock and Roll Mike Sydal was once again on TV with Metro Pro Wrestling against the former WWE Tag Team Champion Trevor Murdock.

At 3XW he was involved in one of the most emotional matches of the year when he was force to face “The Unbreakable” Zach Thompson. Thompson defeated his High Flyers’ partner Mike Sydal following a Dublin Driver in a very emotional and hard fought Loser Leaves 3XWrestling match set up by 3XW Commissioner Todd Countryman in May. Fans rejoiced when Thompson overcame the odds to defeat Brian Ash in November to allow Sydal to once again return.

Throughout the year of 2010 Sydal popped up just about everywhere good wrestling could be found.

Sydal has earned the respect of his peers and promoters and it showed in the 2010 in the final vote. Out of 14 awards committee voters the lowest Sydal got were 16.

We would like to congratulate Mike Sydal as the 2010 MWR Wrestler of the Year.

2010 MWR Tag team of the Year

Attitude Inc. (Guy Smith, Spencer Powers, and Michael Shard)

New Midwest Tag Team Champions : Attitude Inc – Spencer Powers, Michael Shard and Guy Smith

Attitude Inc is a flashy tag team that has electrified the ring at New Midwest Wrestling for the past year. All three men are former NMW Heavyweight Champions who have come together and found success. Like the Freebirds, Attitude Inc have mixed partners to their advantages. Their success and talent has won over the awards committee.

At the start of the year they dismantled the faction the Sin Club of Steve Bishop, Dave Parker and Dareian Frost in impressive fashion.

In July the they outlasted the tag teams of Logantyre (Eric Logan and Justin McEntyre) , The New Immolare (Tom Arson and Ryan Phoenix) and the Full Metal Jackals( Danny Cannon and Alex Castle) in an exciting four way match to win the NMW Tag Team titles.

In consecutive months of October and November they defeated the up and coming tag team the Full Metal Jackals (Danny Cannon and Alex Castle) to retain the NMW Tag Team Titles.

Though Attitude Inc has their hands full with the tag team of the Uninvited (Rip Mystic and Tom Arson) heading into 2011, the team can hold their head up high that MWR has named them the 2010 MWR Tag Team of the Year.

First Runner up Gentleman’s Club- Devin Carter and Casanova
Second Runner up- Steve Fender and Mark Sterling
Third Runner up – The Hooligans -Devin and Mason Cutter

2010 MWR Promotion of the Year

3Xwrestling

3XW’s fifth year proved to be the best yet, featuring a mix of incredible wrestling, packed crowds, strong business relationships within the community, and a continuing commitment to charitable efforts.
Despite the common perception that interest in wrestling is on the decline, 3XW enjoyed consistently growing crowds throughout the year, routinely packing the Des Moines Social Club each month for events thanks to a loyal – and growing – following and strong television, radio, print and word-of-mouth advertising, not to mention the most talented roster of wrestlers in the entire Midwest.

This past July, 3XW also had the honor of being the last wrestling promotion to hold matches in historic Veterans Memorial Auditorium, a building with 55 years of wrestling history. The athletes of 3XW competed in the same building that NWA affiliates, particularly Central States, held matches years ago, not to mention some major WWE/WWF/WCW moments.

3XW’s webshow, Outside the Ring, enjoyed an increasing number of views, as did 3XWrestling.com, which was visited by thousands of fans each month.

First Runner up- Independent Hardcore Wrestler
Second Runner up- MMWA-SICW
Third Runner up- Metro Pro Wrestling

2010 MWR Match of the Year

Jeremy Wyatt vs. Tyler Black – 3XW – April 2, 2010

Spring Showdown at 3Xwrestling was a monumental night of pro wrestling featuring one of the top wrestlers in the Midwest proving to the world that he could hang with the Champion of the World.

The two wrestled to a 30-minute time limit draw in an incredible wrestling match that earned a standing ovation from the crowd after the final bell. The last minute of the match saw referee Jeromy Robb inadvertently get crushed in the corner by both men and fall to the canvas. Black quickly nailed Wyatt with a tremendous reverse brainbuster and covered him for the pin, only there was no ref to count the pin. As Black was checking on the ref in the corner, Wyatt slowly rose to his feet and grabbed Black from behind, slamming him hard with his patented Kansas Tumbleweed (Lightning Spiral) and covering him for the pin with 20 seconds remaining, only for the ref to still be out. Wyatt screamed and pleaded for the ref to get up to no avail and he even counted the pin himself. The time then ran out before a winner could be determined but the fans gave a standing ovation.

First Runner up- MECW November 20, 2010 – Bailey Mannix vs. Eric Allen – 30 Minute Ironman Match

Second Runner up- The Mississippi Madman vs. The Future Donovan Ruddick with MR Late Nite at Pro Wrestling Epic August 28th, 2010 Lincoln, Illinois

Third Runner up- Danny Cannon vs Christian Rose ladder match from IWA Productions OCC show in January 2010

Ron Powers

MWR’s pick:

A tournament with some of the best today will go at it full force. Ron Powers comes off a big victory of the Big Texan in December. Dave Vaughn is a marked man after taking out Travis Cook after his match with Espinosa last month, which MWR has heard may have retired the wily leader. How will The Big Texan, Waco and Brandon Espinosa do without the man who lead them to glory in 2010?

We had many sources tell us that Danny Boy could have very of been the best wrestling in St Louis, prior to his announcement to walk away a few years ago. Danny Boy has been impressive and may be the most popular wrestler in the company.

Chris Hargas has the skills and the power to overcome the odds, though he has been hit and miss at matches in the past, can this be the year of Hargas. Last but not least is the man who we can not put our money against, the “Great One” Gary Jackson. Jackson can talk but he ALWAYS backs it up.

Our Pick: Gary Jackson.

Wild Card: Brandon Espinosa- A true Ego Maniac if there ever was one. With or without Cook he is one of the best.

Now it is your turn to pick the man who will become the first ever Classic Wrestling Champion.

MWR presents Larry Matysik with the 2009 MWR Lifetime Achievement Award

Posted by flairwhoooooo on December 27, 2010

Mickey Garagiola and Larry Matysik

When you say the name Larry Matysik to a wrestling fan in St Louis, you get the same warm feeling that St Louis Cardinal fans get when you mention former ST Louis Cardinal announcer Jack Buck. Admiration and great memories quickly come to mind.

Both men were the fans best friend when it came to providing them with the much desired information about what was transpiring in the sport that they were into.

Buck was the man to hear the play by play of Cardinal greats such as Bob Gibson, Lou Brock, Ozzie Smith, Willie McGee and Bruce Sutter. Fans watched as Matysik called play by play in matches that saw “King Kong” Brody, Dick “the Bruiser, Lou Thesz, Gene Kiniski, Pat O’Connor, Harley Race, Buddy Rogers and many more in action.

St Louis promoter Sam Muchnick was wise enough to know that for wrestling to succeed in St Louis, a sports town that he would have to bring the same respectability that the Cardinals brought to the city.

Wrestling at the Chase

A main piece to the puzzle would be the Voice of Wrestling at the Chase. The television program which broadcast from 1959 to 1983 from the majestic Chase Hotel would be the face of wrestling in St Louis.

Larry interviewing David Von Erich after beating Harley Race

Matysik has been much more than a man calling the play by play of great matches in St Louis. At the young age of 16 in 1963, Muchnick hire Matysik and would be very supportive and helpful in the career that saw Matysik also man the publicist and office manager, as well as book the matches.

In 1984 he would begin working with Vince McMahon and then WWF (now WWE) till 1993.

Matysik has since gone on to write some of the must read books in the industry including

1) Wrestling at the Chase: The Inside Story of Sam Muchnick and the Legends of Professional Wrestling
Photobucket

Wrestling at the Chase is a fond, informative, amusing, and even poignant look at the who’s who of professional wrestling and legendary St. Louis promoter Sam Muchnick.
St. Louis was the capital, and Muchnick the ruler of professional wrestling, before Vince McMahon’s World Wrestling Entertainment took over. What happened in St. Louis paved the way for today’s multi-billion-dollar sports entertainment industry. The centerpiece of this magical operation was “Wrestling at the Chase,” a television program which broadcast from 1959 to 1983 from the majestic Chase Hotel.

Larry Matysik was Muchnick’s protégé and longtime announcer for the television show. With an insider’s eye for detail and accuracy, he recalls funny and amazingly touching tales about the characters who created professional wrestling as we know it. Ric Flair, “King Kong” Brody, Dick “the Bruiser,” the Von Erichs, Lou Thesz, Gene Kiniski, Pat O’Connor, Johnny Valentine, Dick Murdoch, Harley Race, Buddy Rogers, Jack Brisco, and Andre the Giant are all prominently featured. So is Muchnick himself, the Damon Runyan of wrestling, a man who helped mould the bizarre business of circus and sport. The savage twists of the politics of wrestling are on display as well, particularly the changes that rocked the mat world during the early ’80s.

2) Drawing Heat the Hard Way
Photobucket

Thrilling but flawed, entertaining despite the swerves and double-crosses, captivating even when repugnant… professional wrestling has enjoyed the attention and loyalty of untold millions for nearly a century. How and why is precisely what Larry Matysik examines in his third book, Drawing Heat the Hard Way: How Wrestling Really Works.

Wrestlers have their own private language, and in the unique world of wrestling “drawing heat” is a very good thing: the successful generation of crowd reaction and fan excitement. The Hard Way? That’s both exactly what it sounds like and something no one in the industry plans for: a legitimate and unintentional wound suffered because something’s gone awry. In Drawing Heat the Hard Way, Matysik explains what it takes to win the hearts and minds of wrestling fans, and how, at times, mistakes, controversy and unexpected turns of events have damaged the reputation or forever changed the business he loves.

If anyone understands wrestling, the problem-child offspring of whatever “real” sport is, it’s Matysik. Drawing Heat the Hard Way takes on the way wrestling is booked or planned; analyzes the roles of wrestlers and announcers, and explores steroids as an industry and fan issue. It also considers wrestling’s power-brokers, from those who influence the business by reporting on it, like Dave Meltzer, to those who make the final decisions on what gets broadcast every week, like the omnipresent Vince McMahon, and even to those who influence the sport with their pocketbooks — the fans themselves.

At times humorous, occasionally heartbreaking, always insightful, Drawing Heat the Hard Way is ultimately an objective take on what it means to be a wrestling fan, from someone who knows the business inside and out.

3) Brody: The Triumph and Tragedy of Wrestling’s Rebel

Photobucket

The most unpredictable and charismatic grappler of all time? The brute that made brawling an art before the term “hardcore” was coined? The confrontational businessman who fought for every penny he felt he deserved?

“Bruiser” Brody had no peers when it came to blood and guts, controversy and independence. Most wrestling promoters portrayed their top talent as exactly that kind of free-spirited, take-no-guff personality. They didn’t mean it, though — which explains why so few would admit to respecting Brody even as they featured him time and again.
So why did they give him work? Simple. “Bruiser” Brody delivered the goods in the ring and at the box office.

In the 1970s and early 80s, Brody was one of the few performers, along with Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair, to be recognized as a national star. With his fiery personality, Brody also conquered the international market.

Nearly two decades after his murder in Puerto Rico, Brody: The Triumph and Tragedy of Wrestling’s Rebel delivers a complete portrait of Brody’s remarkable life. Co-authors Barbara Goodish, Brody’s widow, and Larry Matysik, a close friend, offer a first-time opportunity to truly understand one of the sport’s most complex and controversial human beings. Goodish’s account of her husband’s horrific murder and its aftermath is both heartbreaking and compelling, while Matysik’s insider knowledge of the business puts Brody’s place in wrestling history into perspective. With a foreword by WWE announcer Jim Ross, Brody offers readers the unvarnished truth about one of the greatest wrestling legends of all time.

4) An electronic book- From the Golden Era

This unique digital publication offers a complete record of every twist and turn, of every performer, of all the battles from television’s legendary Wrestling at the Chase, and every card presented at both the historic Kiel Auditorium and The Arena (Checkerdome) during the glory era of the St. Louis promotion.

Wrestling at the Chase announcer and St. Louis insider Larry Matysik adds background about the personalities, business, secrets, and politics to make this electronic book a revealing, in-depth account of three decades of wrestling’s golden era. Featuring everything from attendance figures, to booking strategies, to insights and NWA championship bouts, From the Golden Era: The St. Louis Wrestling Record Book is the once-in-a-lifetime document that every serious wrestling observer must have.

Photobucket

Matysik has also been instrumental in keeping the history of one of the highest rated wrestling television programs Wrestling at the Chase alive with Classic St Louis Wrestling, hosted by Matysik himself. In 2007. Matysik headed a team to bring to St Louis the St Louis Wrestling Hall of Fame.

He was joined in this effort by promoter Herb Simmons, webmaster Mitch Martsey, sports journalist Keith Schildroth, and longtime fan Nick Ridenour. The Hall of Fame was created to honor the role St. Louis played in helping to establish professional wrestling in North America. Today the hall can be seen at the historic South Broadway Athletic club.

In 2011 fans in St Louis will once again be able to hear the Voice himself call wrestling matches when he returns to TV on Sunday February 6, 2011 at 11:30 am and then rebroadcast on Sunday evening at 10:30pm on Charter Cable channel 8. The matches will be taped in East Carondelet Community Center on Saturday January 22nd.

Once again, thank you so much for your positive contribution to pro wrestling Larry Matysik.

Please join us at MWR on January 1st when we will announce the recipient for the 2010 MWR Lifetime Achievement Award.

Dubi meets the IHW Fans November 2010 with a special appearance at MECW

Posted by flairwhoooooo on December 10, 2010

By Dubray Tallman

We were excited to be a pat of Independent Hardcore Wrestling’s final show of 2010 in Jerseyville Illinois on November 21st.

IHW has had some great matches throughout the year. Add great matches with some buildings full of fans; IHW has to be considered among the finalist for the MWR Promotion of the Year in 2011.

Our good friends Drew and Gary was there to hang out with me during the matches making the night that much more fun.

The MWR wrestler of the night was Neil Diamond Cutter. It had been forever since we saw the youngest Cutter. Neil had his hands full on this night when he was set to face off with the powerful Chris L.O.G.A.N and a very biased referee Ace Roberts. Prior to his match though he wore the MWR shirt to the ring and threw it to young Alex.

Alex was in attendance with his brother Dalton and was able to get his picture taken with a very sore Neil Diamond Cutter.

Andrew Feruson from Grafton Illinois was impressed with Graves who had demolished young Johnny Griffen in his very first match. Graves who can be very intimating at times was in good spirits when we asked for a picture with his new fan.

Nathan Franke from Jerseyville Illinois was glad to see wrestling come to his hometown. Nathan was quick to let me know that he wanted his picture with Brandon Aarons.

Aarons has not only won over the hearts of the women in the Midwest but the respect of the men as well.

I sometimes get so busy that I forget to have my picture taken with a wrestling star as well. On this night one guy that was easy to remember was called The Manimal. During his match with Chaz Wesson the Manimal was whipped and chopped in and out of the ring. I had to give him respect though because he did not back out from the punishing blows that was heard throughout the building. I was happy to have my picture taken with the Wildman.

On this night that would not be the only show we would make. As soon as the last bell was rung at IHW, Brian was determined to make it to MECW 30 minutes down the road in Woodriver.

We were able to make it to the main event featuring MECW Champion Eric Allen taking on Bailey Mannix in a 30 Minute Iron Man match. Brian said the clock had 27 minutes 32 seconds on the clock when he took his first shot of this awesome match. In the final minute Mannix would pin Allen and once again becoming the MECW Champion.

After the match MECW fans Andrew Davis and Blake Young asked to get their picture taken with the new Champion. To make it that much sweeter Brian was able to get MECW Stars Mathew McDarby and Evan Money to in the picture as well.

In the next edition of Dubi meets the fans we were at MECW’s final show of the year on December 4th.

You can catch me at MMWA-SICW this Saturday to be a part of Dubi meets the MMWA-SICW fans. Please join me for a great night of wrestling.

Mark Sterling is highly considered the top wrestler in the Midwest. The current MWR Wrestler of the Year debuted a few months ago so it was with great excitement when promoter Herb Simmons and I spoke that he was to return to action at MMWA-SICW.
His will face off against the Mike Sydal.

This will be the very first time that Sydal, the 2009 Pro Wrestling Illustrated wrestler of the Year will wrestle for MMWA-SICW. Sydal has had a banner year in 2010, making his way to wrestle for Ring of Honor for several months all around the country and on Direct TV’s HDNET ROH Monday night wrestling. In Kansas City fans have seen Mike Sydal on their TV screen for Metro Pro Sports wrestling.

Now for the first time Sydal will be coming to their TV in St Louis.

Who will win this sure to be classic match and where will you be when it happens? There is only one place to be and that is in East Carondelet on Saturday.

Fans of the big men of wrestling, will have their gift in the match of Ron Powers going toe to toe with the Big Texan. These two have fought inside the ring and outside the building with no definite answer to who has the edge. The pressure will be on both men as Simmons has mandated that this be a Leather strap match.

This is setting to be the war of all wars so therefore a special ref has been assigned to maintain control in this war between two behemoths.

Dave Vaughn had been the MMWA-SICW Champion for most of the year. Now he will have to be the hunter instead of the hunted. (Photo Credit Mike Van Hoogstraat)

Last month tensions was up in sell crowd at East Carondelet during the battle between Dave Vaughn and Brandon Espinosa.

Vaughn is looking to regain the momentum back after losing the MMWA-SICW Championship from Espinosa’s teammate The Future” Donovan Ruddick in Travis Cook’s group ‘The Elitism’.

Espinosa is one of the very best in the game today and with Travis Cook in his corner he looks to keep Vaughn from moving back up the ladder with a big win in this 2 out of 3 falls match. Promoter Simmon’s issued a stern warning to Travis “the crook” Cook that if he interferes there will be a price to pay.
