The Icon Takes Home the Gold – Chris Hargas Wins the SICW Classic Championship

Posted by flairwhoooooo on May 24, 2017

MWR would like to congratulate Chris Hargas for capturing the SICW Classic Wrestling Championship this past weekend at the 58th Anniversary of the Wrestling at the Chase Super show at SICW. Though we do not approve of Hargas’s tactics and that of his manager Travis Cook, there is no denying that in the past year Chris Hargas has upped his game and is deserving of holding this prestigious title.

Brian Kelley – Owner & Editor of Missouri Wrestling Revival

Recap by Patrick Brandmeyer

Flash Flanagan vs. “The Icon” Chris Hargas(w/ Travis Cook), Classic Title Tournament Final, Best-Of-3-Falls Match, Special Guest Referee “The King Of Chaos” Ricky Cruz:

Hargas defeated The Big Texan, Gary Jackson, and Ken Kasa to reach the finals; he was the fresh competitor compared to Flash who had already competed and was favoring his arm. Cruz had plenty of history with both Flanagan and Travis Cook, but he had promised to be unbiased. Cook couldn’t resist getting involved and that led to Hargas winning the first fall; Flanagan attempted to suplex Hargas back into the ring, but Cook grabbed Flash’s foot and held it as Hargas fell on top for the pin in 8:12. Travis kept sticking his nose into the matchup until Ricky finally hauled off and belted him off the ring apron. Flanagan fought back to even the score in 11:05 after a Tree Of Woe double-stomp off the top rope.

As Flash hoped to maintain his momentum, Cowboy Marc Houston made his presence known; Flash left the ring to confront Houston during the rest period between falls. That didn’t end well as Houston ran Flanagan shoulder-first into the ring post…Big Daddy seemed to be encouraging Houston’s actions from the sidelines, so perhaps he’s found a new protégé. Cook demanded that Flanagan be counted out to give Hargas the final fall, but Cruz allowed Flanagan a longer rest period for the sake of fairness. Unfortunately the damage had already been done; Flash did his best to stay in the fight, but Hargas locked on the Crippler Crossface…Flash never surrendered, but he passed out in the hold and the referee called for the bell in 17:23 after three arm drops!

“The Icon” Chris Hargas had become the new SICW Classic Wrestling Champion, much to the delight of his manager who finally had “his” championship back!

21) The Texan Hangman (Waco and Texan)

As much as we love the MMWA-SICW we cannot deny the lack of title defenses from their tag team division hurts their guys on this list. You would not want to meet these two in a dark alley is the big masked men Waco and the Big Texan.

These two big brutes will punish you with brutal punches and kicks from bell to bell. Managed  at times by the mastermind Travis Cook as part of The Connection they terrorized fans and their opponents wile capturing the MMWA-SICW Tag Team titles.

The black mask and Camouflage army pants only add to the perception that they feel no pain as they keep on the offense throughout the match.

Dubi meets the MMWA-SICW fans February 2011

Posted by flairwhoooooo on February 27, 2011

By Dubray Tallman

Hello everyone, an exciting night for me personally as our good friend promoter Herb Simmons asked for me to present Danny Boy Hawkins with a trophy. The trophy was in honor of his accomplishment of winning the Classic Wrestling Champion tournament last month at the very same building by defeating Waco, The Big Texan and followed it up with a win in the finals over “Thee” Brandon Espinosa.

I was nervous as this was to be aired on Channel 8 in St Louis so I didn’t want to mess up and make Danny Boy look bad. In all I was happy with the way it turned out as things was going great until Ron Powers went off his rocker and attacked his good friend Danny Boy.

You can find out the details by clicking here.

The MWR wrestler of the night was one of our favorite young men in the game today high flying A big thank you to Ace Hawkins for throwing out an MWR shirt prior to overcoming the odds and defeating the much bigger Waco during the night.
Photobucket

After his match Ace came out to meet the fan Gavin who was from Waterloo Illinois there in the front row with his family.

Danny Boy had a huge fan base at MMWA-SICW and prior to his good friend Ron Powers stabbed him in the back several of the fans took the chance to get their picture taken with the champ.

Photobucket

First we had Donovan who was at the matches for the very first time!

Photobucket

Dominic’s dad was a special guest for the show and had remembered us at WLW in 2010 when Brian had covered them. It was great meeting them and Dominic was so excited about having his photo while holding the belt with the Champ.

Photobucket

Christian, Kayla, Paige, and Allison was up next , this was Allison’s second time coming and she just loves Danny Boy so I was happy to get the two together along with Allison’s friends.

Photobucket

Brett & Eli Gummersheimer had their photo taken with Dave Vaughn last time but the photo did not turn out so this time they got to pose with “The Icon” Chris Hargas.

Photobucket

Last but not least I was going to pick a wrestler, when I saw that Brian was speaking to Jaysin Static questioning his actions in the ring earlier in the night against his opponent Max Archer when I got my good friend Mike Van to capture the young star putting the MWR Owner in a headlock.

I would like to thank MMWA-SICW for their friendship and support of myself and MWR as we get to meet such wonderful fans while checking out some great wrestling action.

Till next time.

Love Dubz

Ron Powers

MWR’s pick:

A tournament with some of the best today will go at it full force. Ron Powers comes off a big victory of the Big Texan in December. Dave Vaughn is a marked man after taking out Travis Cook after his match with Espinosa last month, which MWR has heard may have retired the wily leader. How will The Big Texan, Waco and Brandon Espinosa do without the man who lead them to glory in 2010?

We had many sources tell us that Danny Boy could have very of been the best wrestling in St Louis, prior to his announcement to walk away a few years ago. Danny Boy has been impressive and may be the most popular wrestler in the company.

Chris Hargas has the skills and the power to overcome the odds, though he has been hit and miss at matches in the past, can this be the year of Hargas. Last but not least is the man who we can not put our money against, the “Great One” Gary Jackson. Jackson can talk but he ALWAYS backs it up.

Our Pick: Gary Jackson.

Wild Card: Brandon Espinosa- A true Ego Maniac if there ever was one. With or without Cook he is one of the best.

Now it is your turn to pick the man who will become the first ever Classic Wrestling Champion.
