The Icon Takes Home the Gold – Chris Hargas Wins the SICW Classic Championship

Posted by flairwhoooooo on May 24, 2017

MWR would like to congratulate Chris Hargas for capturing the SICW Classic Wrestling Championship this past weekend at the 58th Anniversary of the Wrestling at the Chase Super show at SICW. Though we do not approve of Hargas’s tactics and that of his manager Travis Cook, there is no denying that in the past year Chris Hargas has upped his game and is deserving of holding this prestigious title.

Brian Kelley – Owner & Editor of Missouri Wrestling Revival

Recap by Patrick Brandmeyer

Flash Flanagan vs. “The Icon” Chris Hargas(w/ Travis Cook), Classic Title Tournament Final, Best-Of-3-Falls Match, Special Guest Referee “The King Of Chaos” Ricky Cruz:

Hargas defeated The Big Texan, Gary Jackson, and Ken Kasa to reach the finals; he was the fresh competitor compared to Flash who had already competed and was favoring his arm. Cruz had plenty of history with both Flanagan and Travis Cook, but he had promised to be unbiased. Cook couldn’t resist getting involved and that led to Hargas winning the first fall; Flanagan attempted to suplex Hargas back into the ring, but Cook grabbed Flash’s foot and held it as Hargas fell on top for the pin in 8:12. Travis kept sticking his nose into the matchup until Ricky finally hauled off and belted him off the ring apron. Flanagan fought back to even the score in 11:05 after a Tree Of Woe double-stomp off the top rope.

As Flash hoped to maintain his momentum, Cowboy Marc Houston made his presence known; Flash left the ring to confront Houston during the rest period between falls. That didn’t end well as Houston ran Flanagan shoulder-first into the ring post…Big Daddy seemed to be encouraging Houston’s actions from the sidelines, so perhaps he’s found a new protégé. Cook demanded that Flanagan be counted out to give Hargas the final fall, but Cruz allowed Flanagan a longer rest period for the sake of fairness. Unfortunately the damage had already been done; Flash did his best to stay in the fight, but Hargas locked on the Crippler Crossface…Flash never surrendered, but he passed out in the hold and the referee called for the bell in 17:23 after three arm drops!

“The Icon” Chris Hargas had become the new SICW Classic Wrestling Champion, much to the delight of his manager who finally had “his” championship back!

From WWE.COM

It has been said that history is written in blood. For the brutally vicious competitor known as Abdullah the Butcher, these words couldn’t be more appropriate.

Internationally known as The Madman from the Sudan, the 400-pounder has terrorized opponents, officials and fans in rings across the globe for more than half a century. Whether he was competing in the grandest arenas of Japan or the dingiest high school gymnasiums in the Midwest, The Butcher attacked his opponents with an unmatched ferocity, jabbing at his victims with a rusted dinner fork and lunging at hapless spectators who dared to get too close to the monster.

In all this time, Abdullah’s distinctive look has barely changed — his baggy judo pants hiked high above his bulging belly, his eyes mad and wandering like a schizophrenic, his forehead carved so deeply with scars that he can firmly insert quarters into the wounds like a coin slot.

This unique appearance and the promise of bloodshed gave The Butcher the rare ability to “pop a territory.” In the days when sports-entertainment was mostly a regional attraction, a promoter could hire Abdullah to come to town and wreak havoc for a few months. The Madman would march into Texas or Quebec with his fork in hand and slice up a local hero like Terry Funk or Jacques Rougeau Sr. Within weeks, fans would be lined up down the block to witness The Butcher and profits would explode.

If the money was right, Abdullah would be there. He battled Andre the Giant in front of 25,000 fans in Puerto Rico and clashed with Hulk Hogan in Japan. His ghastly wars with Bruiser Brody and Carlos Colón defined hardcore action decades before Paul Heyman’s Extreme Championship Wrestling exploded on the scene. The list of The Butcher’s rivals reads like a Hall of Fame itself — The Sheik, Harley Race, Bobo Brazil, Jack Brisco, Stan Hansen, Giant Baba. All these men can attest to the same fact — a champion wasn’t a champion until he came face to face with Abdullah the Butcher.

A true independent, The Butcher would never stay in one place for too long, preferring to keep on moving to the next city in search of a bigger payday. This elusiveness prevented Abdullah from ever having a big pay-per-view match, but he received some major North American exposure in 1991 with World Championship Wrestling. Introduced by Cactus Jack as a threat to Sting, The Butcher participated in the infamous Chamber of Horrors Match in which he was fried in an electric chair. It wasn’t the greatest showcase of Abdullah’s talents, but it presented him as a monster to a whole new generation of fans.

The Butcher has battled every legend in nearly every promotion on the planet — except WWE. Despite his decades in the ring, Abdullah never brawled with Hulk Hogan for the WWE Championship or went the distance with Bret “Hit Man” Hart in Madison Square Garden. These are dream matches that will never happen, but these icons were all brought together when The Butcher took his rightful place alongside them in the WWE Hall of Fame.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on April 17, 2017

MWR Editors note: This title for the post was sent to us via Curtis Wylde and does not reflect the thoughts of the MWR staff.

Just got off the phone with Herb Simmons!!

He has informed me that even though we sent them back to Italy in a “Loser Leaves SICW” match… the new year has brought an end to that clause, and Miss Monica is returning to SICW!

He wants to bring her back… That’s FINE!! Because before I was the “Number 1 Ginja”, and the “Uncrowned Midwest Manager of the Year“… I was a trained Professional Wrestler!

So, April 29th in Millstadt, IL. The self-proclaimed “MWR Female Wrestler of the Year” Miss Monica will be going 1 on 1 with the “Queen of SICW“, the “Lioness of the Lou“… WyldeFyre!

And I’m going to send Miss Monica BACK to Italy… again!
