Jeremy Wyatt and Tyler Cook Presented 2009 MWR Match of the Year Plaques.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on July 8, 2010

Tyler Black, Brian Kelley and the 3XW Champion Jeremy Wyatt

Last month on June 4th in Des Moines Iowa, we were on hand to present the 3XW Champion Jeremy Wyatt and Tyler Cook the 2009 MWR Match of the Year plaque for their match last July 17th for the 3XW Pure Championship title . Tyler Cook would have his hand raised on that evening in a match that is still talked about today.

Since that time Jeremy Wyatt made that loss the pivotal point of his career when he bounced back to defeat “Delicious” Devin Carter for the 3XW Heavyweight title. Wyatt recently broke the record for the longest 3XW Champion and has had thrilling matches with Al Snow. Maddog McDowell, Tyler Black and an incredible series with fan Favorite Rory Fox.

Tyler Cook on the other hand has floundered and looking to regroup after losing the very next month against the unstoppable Kraig Kessaman who as of press time has not been pinned at 3XW since August of 2008…Yes I said August of 2008! We are huge fans of Tyler Cook here at MWR and feel that it wont be long till he is back in the title hunt again soon.

Midnight Guthrie and Brian Kelley talks about the MWR Award during intermission.

While we were there we got to see a rematch of Wyatt vs. Cook only this time Wyatt was the 3XW Champion. Wyatt would prove once again that he is among the top in the sport today by submitting him to a crossface.

A old foe in Rory Fox would come Rory Fox came out and officially announced he would be using his Gauntlet for the Gold title shot against Wyatt at the 3XW 5 Year Anniversary Event this Friday Wyatt said “fine, but I choose the stipulation. It’s going to be a ladder match!!!

Can Fox finally get the win for this coveted title or will Wyatt continue to be the one man that has his number?

Before we take the time to watch the 3XWrestling commercial I would like to thank 3XW, Jeremy Wyatt and Tyler Cook for their time last month during that important evening as we honored Wyatt and Cook with the 2009 MWR Match of the Year.

Dubi meets the 3XW fans June 2010

Posted by flairwhoooooo on June 18, 2010

Dubray Tallman back with you here at MWR with a brand new Dubi Meets the fans and for the very first time I am doing this feature at 3XWrestling in Des Moines Iowa.

I missed the last time Brian went as he and his good friend Josh Ray made their way to present 3XW with the 2008 MWR Promotion of the Year Plaque last year and since I have been they have moved from IN Play to the Social Club.

If you are one of my friends who live quite a ways and have not checked out 3XWrestling, I highly recommend that you take the drive and not only watch some exciting 3XWrestling but the beautiful city of Des Moines as well. This would be the third time that we have gone together and it never seems to fail that we run out of time to take in the sights. If we ever get enough money I am looking forward to staying in town and sight see after a show the next day.

I was told from Brian that 3XW had a sweet set up and he was not lying. With the lights on and the building painted black it was perfect for wrestling with a big league feel, with up close and personal feel of a local show. Easily the most professional looking shows that we have gone too.

Our good friend Skylar Pierce was very helpful by pointing out some 3XW faithful fans who was allowed in 15 minutes early because they bought their ticket early, which I thought was awesome because I hate to wait to get in so that is a great ideal 3XW.

While Brian caught up with his friends Maddog McDowell and Referee Jeremy Robb, I was off to work meeting the fans. First up was one of our facebook friends Amanda Elliot who I knew was a hardcore Mike Sydal fan but I was told that at last months show at 3XW Sydal had lost a loser leaves town match to high flying Zach Thompson, Say it isn’t so Mike!!

Amanda stated that she liked Rory Fox, a wrestler that Brian had stated he was excited about seeing live for the first time. Rory was impressive in his win against “The Laotian Sensation” Ricky Kwong with “The Laotian Liaison” Chad Mylan and Mylan’s new MMA security guard. I got so busy during intermission trying to get everyone rounded out that Amanda was nice enough to take the picture for us.

Amanda Elliot and Rory Fox

Next up was a great group of fans in the front row who was there to cheer on young up and comer John West. Hope, Joe, Brittany, Alyssa, Haley and Joey Maston from Des Moines Iowa posed with the young star.

Little did I know that 3XW was to provide the fans with an exciting surprise at the start of the show when to the ring came the easy on the eyes Tyler Black who was to wrestle later on that night. Eric Konecne from Exira Iowa quickly came up to me to see if it was possible to have his Dubi meets the fans picture with his favorite tag team The Horndogs of Krotch and Maddog McDowell with Tyler Black. I told him that I would do my best and though during the intermission that had wrestlers signing Autographs and hanging out with the fans we were unable to get Eric with the Horndogs and Black at the same time we took his picture separately with the stars.

Brian was asked by Midnight Guthrie to come to ring to show off the MWR Plaque that we were giving Jeremy Wyatt and Tyler Cook for their 3XW match last year then it was back to meeting with the fans.

One of the most popular wrestlers there had to be the “Rockstar” Jimmy Rockwell who was birthday boy Jack’s favorite wrestler. Jack was turning 8 years old that day and was joined with Allison ( Sue City) and Randy from (Des Moines). It took us some time as Jimmy is great with his fans but young Jack and his friends looked to have a birthday to remember

Slowly but surely, I have been working on a new project here at MWR called MWR’S Sexiest wrestler in the Midwest and one man that is sure to be a part of the voting will be Kansas City Heartthrob Tyler Cook.

Tyler Cook (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

On this night I was thankful that Cook represented MWR by wearing our shirt to the ring and throwing it too one lucky fan.  A wonderful women, Paula Grove caught the shirt while sitting next to her husband Don. Unfortunately Cook took a beating from The Rebel Jeremy Wyatt prior to intermission and was unable to come out to pose with Paula but she was in good sprits as we talked about how long she had been coming to 3XW.

Paula Grove and Dubray Tallman (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

A fun night of wrestling with some great guys, I hated to leave but before we left Brian picked up a 3XW dvd that had Tyler Black vs. Jeremy Wyatt and offered to buy me a Sir Bradley Charles T-shirt , a wrestler who he is thinks very highly of but he didn’t have my size so Brian got a XL, just my luck  .

The road home was filled with rain and storms and it took us a little longer than normal but it was well worth it. I was impressed when Skylar called us the next morning to make sure we made it home safe. It is always good hanging with people that care.

Once again 3XW and their fans thank you for the good times.

Brian will have a photo recap of this show very soon and I will be working on Dubi meets the IHW Fans from this past weekend.

Till next time MWR Fans be good.

Jeremy Wyatt -Tyler Cook 2 June 4th in Des Moines Iowa.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on June 1, 2010

Last year Jeremy Wyatt and Tyler Cook tore the house down on July 17th in a Ladder match for the 3XW Pure Wrestling Championship. In a back and forth war for the ages, Tyler Cook would survive by getting to the top of the ladder first.

The match would earn them the 2009 MWR Match of the Year as well as more fans for the sport.

Just a month later Wyatt would win his very first 3XW Championship by defeating three time 3XW Champ Devin Carter while the same night the red hot Kraig Kessaman would derail Cook and take his 3XW Pure Championship.

Wyatt has turned away formidable opponents Rory Fox, Al Snow, Tyler Black, Maddog McDowell and most recently Jimmy Rockwell but has the man who took the 3XW Pure title from Wyatt going to walk away as the new 3XW Champion?

This Friday is the rematch.

This is a match that you will NOT want to miss.

Jeremy Wyatt vs Tyler Cook for the 3XW Championship.

Worth the price of admission alone!

3XW – Over The Top Results 5/7/10

Posted by flairwhoooooo on May 12, 2010

Des Moines Social Club
1408 Locust St
Des Moines, IA

Thanks to the awesome crowd that packed the Des Moines Social Club for this excellent show!

1. 3XW Pure Wrestling champion “The Viking Warrior” Kraig Keesaman successfully defended the title over “The Right Price” Aaron Masterson after drilling him with the Nordic Spike in 8:48. Keesaman has now not been pinned or submitted in 23 months of competition.

Following the match, Hunter Matthews came out and addressed the crowd and Masterson, talking about losing to Masterson at Spring Showdown and talked about how ashamed his mother his of his actions is of late. He then proceeded to vicious assault Masterson with a brutal Piledriver. Due to the injuries Masterson sustained from the beatings at the hands of Matthews and Keesaman, he was unable to compete in the Gauntlet for the Gold later in the evening.

2. Malia Hosaka defeated Claudia Del Solis after an impressive facebuster in 11:36. Solis, an impressive newcomer to 3XW that won over the crowd, was accompanied at ringside by members of the Mid Iowa Rollers roller derby team, who have bouts on May 15th and May 22nd at Hy-Vee Hall. Visit http://www.midiowarollers.com for more details.

3. Mark Sterling beat Gage Octane by DQ in a wild match in 14:34 that saw Brian Ash and “Delicious” Devin Carter of the Gentlemen’s Club jump Sterling, only for Sterling to be saved by the Horndogs (Maddog McDowell and Krotch), which allowed Sterling to spear Octane and almost apply the Markshooter to Octane following the match. Luckily for Octane, his teammates outside the ring were able to pull him out of the hold. Sterling challenged all four members of the Gentlemen’s Club to an 8-man tag team match against Sterling, McDowell, Krotch and a partner to be announced at Downtown Destruction on June 4.

4. “The Unbreakable” Zach Thompson defeated his High Flyers’ partner Mike Sydal following a Dublin Driver in a very emotional and hard fought “Loser Leaves 3XWrestling” match set up by 3XW Commissioner Todd Countryman in 14:41. Following the match, both men shook hands and embraced in the ring while “American Pie” by Don McLean played over the speakers and the fans gave Sydal a standing ovation. Sydal walk around ringside after the match and shook hands with many of fans in the crowd.

5. 3XW Heavyweight champion “The Rebel” Jeremy Wyatt successfully defended his title over 3XW Cruiserweight champion “The Rockstar” Jimmy Rockwell following a Cropduster DDT in a tremendous championship match in 25:34. Rockwell earned many nearfalls over the champ, leaving fans on the edge of their seats. The end of the match saw Wyatt laying on the mat and Rockwell going up to the top rope for his patented Rock On Bomb. 3XW Pure Wrestling champion Kraig Keesaman, who attacked Rockwell last month, stood at the top of the entrance ramp and distracted Rockwell while he was standing on the tunrbuckle. When Rockwell went for the move, Wyatt had recovered enough to roll out of the way before spiking Rockwell with the Cropduster DDT for the win.

6. Fifth Annual 25-Man Gauntlet for the Gold Battle Royal – Entrant No. 13 Rory Fox won the battle royal and a future 3XW Heavyweight championship match in 30:45 after eliminating Maddog McDowell and Brian Ash (entrants No. 1 and 2) last to win the match.

Tyler Cook made his return to 3XW as the final entrant (No. 25) and eliminated heavy-favorite Kraig Keesaman, who was distracted by Jimmy Rockwell on the outside of the ring.

“The Laotian Sensation” Ricky Kwong (No. 10) was accompanied to the ring by his manager “The Laotian Liaison” Chad Mylan. Kwong put in a very impressive performance, eliminating the second-most competitors at three behind Rory Fox’s four. Every time Kwong eliminated an opponent, Mylan gleefully grabbed the microphone and proudly announced that Kwong had eliminated another opponent. Kwong’s run was finally ended when Fox threw him over the top rope, causing Mylan to go irate. The only competitors in the battle longer than Kwong were Maddog McDowell, Brian Ash and Devin Carter (No. 3). Mylan also introduced his new Mylan Management Agency (MMA). More details on the next episode of Outside the Ring.

– Fox also eliminated Gage Octane, who once again reached the final five of the Gauntlet for the Gold. Every year that Octane has competed, he’s reached the final five competitors, but he’s never won.

The Gentlemen’s Club and Sterling/Maddog McDowell/Krotch, opponents next month in the 8-man tag, targeted each other throughout the match. Ash violently eliminated Krotch, punching him in the face when Krotch tried to springboard back into the ring. Sterling eliminated Carter, last year’s winner. Brian Ash eliminated Mark Sterling as Sterling was battling with Octane.

Sexy and Smooth (Ryan Slade and A.J. Smooth) were eliminated by Jon West and Sir Bradley Charles. Sexy and Smooth have already challenged West and Charles to a tag team match on June 4 at Downtown Destruction.

– Former ring announcer KL Snow – the only ring announcer to ever lose a “Loser Leaves Town” stipulation – attempted to sneak his way into the battle royal and regain employment in 3XW, only to be quickly pushed aside upon entrance by the debuting Hamlet Azul (a masked European luchador and figure skating enthusiast) and directed backstage by 3XW officials.

– Other masked competitors included the Rebelucha (a confederate luchador), Ski Mask Malloy (martial arts master from the Ozarks), The Yellow Dog (eliminated by Ash after Ash threw Dog’s toy over the top rope and he jump over the rope to fetch it), and Disco Diablo En Fuego (a demonic dancing luchador).

– Besides the ones mentioned above, other returns and debuts included Jaysin Strife, David Clark, and Sparrow.

Upcoming appearances:
3XW will hold wrestling outside all afternoon and into the evening on Saturday, May 15th as part of the Des Moines Social Club’s annual Subjective Circus event. Lots of other entertainment as well, including live music and special events/games for the kids. Come join us to see lots of matches. http://www.desmoinessocialclub.org

3XW stars will also be appearing at the Mid Iowa Rollers bout on May 22nd at Hy-Vee Hall. http://www.midiowarollers.com

Dubi meets the MECW Fans- Shawn Santel, Bayou Outlaws, Gabriel Brimstone and Jeremy Robb

Posted by flairwhoooooo on April 1, 2010

By Dubray Tallman

Dubray Tallman back once again with Dubi meets the fans, this time we are back with our friends at MECW in WoodRiver Illinois. MECW often calls their fans “family” and it truly is a wonderful group of people that comes out to the Knights of Columbus hall for some fun wrestling action.

Brian and I have had the pleasure to be invited by MECW often in the past year that I have made some great friends including the famous Fuzzy Hat club.

On this night fan favorite Evan Money would be the throwing out the MWR T-shirt to a lucky fan in the stands prior to his match and I was off hanging with some cool people.

Their was one man in on this night that was the talk of the hall and that was Shawn Santel who I was told was coming back home to MECW. Before I even got the chance to ask if anyone wanted to be apart of DUBI meets the MECW Fans, people were coming up wanting to be a part of it and I found out quickly that many had came out to see Shawn Santel.

First up in the Shawn Santel fan club was a huge group of people Zach Lafferty, Brandon Rady, Sheryl Baumeister, Jacob Ford and Harry Baumeister from Bethalto Illinois

As Shawn hung out with his fans I caught up with a little cutie Jolene from Hartford, Illinois who enjoyed the Bayou Outlaws of Maddog McDowell and Aaron Masterson.

The Outlaws are one of the nicest guys in the sport and was more than happy to take the picture with her.

Then I went back to Shawn Santel and got his picture taken with Junior Loeffen and then with Zach Leverett.

MECW Superfan Rebecca Hacker asked if she could have her picture with Gabriel Brimstone and then I asked my fellow fuzzy hat member Panther if he would take his picture with me.

Last but not least another superfan Annie who was telling us that she had purchased an autograph picture of referee Jeremy Robb so I ask Annie she would like have her picture taken with Jeremy, making him the first ever ref in the Dubi meets the fans. Brian and a few wrestlers were laughing that Jeremy had already sold more pictures this year than Huge in Japans Jimmy Rockwell.

As always it was like a big party at MECW where everyone is your friend.

PWP’s 2010 Year of the Phoenix V Photo Recap by Gary Giaffoglione – Jayden Draigo returns

Posted by flairwhoooooo on January 23, 2010

Photos by Gary Giaffoglione

The show started with a shocking return, as Jayden Draigo made his way to the ring. Draigo was a staple of the Omaha area wrestling scene for many years, but left PWP on very bad terms back in early 2006, so to see him again in the PWP ring came as quite a shock to many. Draigo went on to explain that the 4 men who had been collectively known as The Murder Militia had been on top of the company for a long run, but lacked the vision and guidance to bust through to the next level – which he was there to offer. He promised the PWP faithful that change was on its way.

*** Matty Star defeated Stephen Saint. After the match, The Murder Militia’s “Rebel” Jeremy Wyatt returned to PWP, and laid out both men. Wyatt went on to state that he was back, and coming for “his” PWP Heavyweight Title.

This brought out Jaysin Strife, the man who took the title from Wyatt – Strife and Wyatt then debated over their past accomplishments, which finally brought out “The Anarchist” Arik Cannon. Cannon said they all had done a lot to be proud of, but instead of talking about it – why not lace up their boots, and see who was the best in a 3-Way Dance later in the evening.

*** Abu Colossus defeated David Clark. Clark’s stock continued to rise, even in defeat, proving that this rookie is not to be taken lightly. However, Abu showed everybody once again that he is undoubtedly one of the strongest forces in PWP.

*** “The Canadian Sex Icon” Ryan Slade defeated Darin Corbin via DQ, stealing a page out of Eddie Guerrero’s playbook, making it look like Corbin had hit Slade with a flag pole, even though he did not.

*** PWP Heavyweight Champion, “Babyface” Tony Cortez came out and stated that he would be a fighting champion, but would be choosing his own challenger for the night, he chose “The Rockstar” Jimmy Rockwell. Cortez obviously underestimated Rockwell, as Jimmy nearly had the match and the title won at several points. In the end however, Cortez showed that he truly is one of the very best, picking up the win.

After the match, Jayden Draigo came back out, to confront Tony Cortez. Draigo spoke about the history the two shared, both being pioneers for independent pro wrestling in the area, and even talking about how Draigo was the one to initially train Cortez. Jayden offered Cortez a spot in the Murder Militia, telling him to at least consider it.

*** Up next, The Murder Militia’s Mark Sterling & Joey Daniels were to challenge Chris Havius & Donnie Peppercricket for the PWP Tag Team Titles. An irate Havius came out alone, saying that he just found Donnie bloodied in the back. Sterling & Daniels kept yelling for Havius to simply forfeit the titles – however Havius insisted on fighting, even if it was 2 on 1. Havius held his own, but took a severe beating – until Jaysin Strife ran out, hoped into Chris’ corner, and stepped up as his partner. Strife cleaned house, until he was pulled out of the ring, and sent into the ring post by Jayden Draigo. With Strife out of the picture, Havius was overwhelmed by the odds, and Sterling & Daniels became the new PWP Tag Team Champions. The new champions celebrated with Draigo as they made their way to the back.

*** In the main event, “The Rebel” Jeremy Wyatt, Jaysin Strife, and “The Anarchist” Arik Cannon squared off in a fast paced, epic encounter. In the end, The Murder Militia’s Mark Sterling and Brett Young pulled Cannon out of the ring and held him as Joey Daniels laid a beating on him – while the referee was trying to get order restored, in the ring, Jayden Draigo hit Strife with a Super Kick, followed by Wyatt hitting The Lightning Spiral. The referee slid back in just in time to count the three, making Wyatt the winner.

After the match, Wyatt and Draigo put the boots to Strife, as Tony Cortez made his way to the ring applauding and smiling. Cortez got in the ring, and raised the arms of Draigo and Wyatt – but then in a shocking moment, Cortez hit a double Flatliner on both men, to a huge ovation from the crowd. Helping Strife up, Cortez and Strife then fought off the other members of the Murder Militia, before Draigo called them all back to regroup. The night ended with Cortez and Strife standing tall.

The Murder Militia appears to be stronger than ever, having reclaimed the PWP Tag Team Titles, and now with the guidance and vision of Jayden Draigo – however, the PWP resistance is far from dead as well. What will happen next? We’ll just have to wait and see!

We now look to Saturday February 13, 2010 – where Pro Wrestling Phoenix will hold it’s 50th EVENT!!

Details coming very soon!

Pro Wrestling Illustrated Year in Awards …Mike Sydal 2009 PWI Rookie of the year.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on January 15, 2010

Missouri Wrestling Revival is proud and excited that the Midwest was filled with positive exposure in the most important issue of Pro Wrestling Illustrated the Year in Awards edition.

St Louis’s own Randy Orton was voted by the fans as the number one wrestler of 2009. Some may not like his actions or his attitude but you can not deny the mans ability. Congrats to Randy Orton for such a great honor.

One of my personal moments of 2009 will be that the promotions and fans in the Midwest joined together to nominate Mike Sydal as the 2009 PWI Rookie of the Year. Mike has thrilled fans in every promotion in the MWR Coverage area and has backed it up by becoming the High Voltage Wrestling Livewire Champion and the being one half of the very popular 3XWrestlings tag team Champions “The High Flyers” with the talented Zach Thompson.

Wrestling fans if you have not had a chance to see Sydal in action I highly urge you get a chance to check him while he is still in the area. Charismatic, exciting and intense are just a few words that come to mind when his name is brought up and now you can add 2009 PWI Rookie of the Year!

Let’s take a quick look at Midwest wrestling promotions and wrestlers that are covered in this historic issue.

Page 13 Former WWE/TNA and WLW Star Trevor Murdoch opens up a new restaurant in Eldon Missouri called T Murdoch’s Bar and Grill. Maybe this means that MWR needs to do a review of the restaurant in the future.
