3XWrestling 10th Year Anniversary Filled with Kisses, Chains, Ladders and Chairs

Posted by flairwhoooooo on July 26, 2015

By Brian Kelley

For the past 10 years 3XWrestling has been thrilling fans in Iowa with family friendly action with 156 events. During that time they have showcased several of the top young stars in the country, former wrestling superstars and historic matches that have earned them a reputation as a must attend event in the area. Missouri Wrestling Revival was honored to cover the historic 10th year Anniversary event that started off with a chance for the wrestlers around the area to get the opportunity to learn from former WWE Superstar Trevor Murdoch during a pre-show seminar.

Students in Iowa took advantage of training with former WWE Superstar Trevor Murdoch.

When the doors open the wonderful fans of 3XW filled up so fast that the 3XW crew was seeking chairs for the fans at the arena. When the action started the fans were treated to a stacked night of wrestling that included a Dog Collar match between Maddog McDowell and Ryan Slade, where the loser would have to eat dog food, the first ever matchup between the former two time MWR Female Wrestler of the Year Stacey O’Brien and Malia Hosaka, Marek Brave challenge Kraig Keesaman for the 3XW Pure title, Devin Carter defend his wife’s honor against Rory Fox to go along with an epic dog collar ladder match between 3XWrestling Champion Jeremy Wyatt and Mark Sterling. I hope you enjoy these exciting photos of a night that will be remembered forever.

Metro Pro Wrestling Celebrates Five Years of Excitement

Posted by flairwhoooooo on July 2, 2015

By Brian Kelley

Five years ago Kansas City was virtually a ghost town for pro wrestling. Thanks to the hard work, dedication and professionalism of Chris Gough pro wrestling would not only return, but earn a reputation as one of the most respected Independent promotions in the country by fans and wrestlers alike.

BOOKING METRO PRO BANNER

Chris Gough’s road to reviving pro wrestling in the Midwest started off as a graduate at the University of Missouri that opened the road for a job at the top as a writer for the WWE during the beloved Attitude era. Gough would return home in the Kansas City area to start a new life in the world of pro wrestling as a promoter, under the banner of Metro Pro Wrestling with a TV taping at the historic Memorial Hall on June 5, 2010. For the past five years fans have been able to keep up with Metro Pro Wrestling on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel , while YouTube features close to one hundred and fifty episodes of the red hot action.

We caught up with just a few of the people that have enjoyed the hard work of Chris Gough and MPW to get their thoughts on the past five years.

Former three time Metro Pro Wrestling Champion Jeremy Wyatt – Metro Pro has been thru its ups and downs. The downs have nearly been devastating, but the promotion has always came out on the other end even better. You take Metro and put it on one of the coast, and it’s easily considered one the top promotions in the country. Being in the Midwest, it somewhat gets overlooked. I couldn’t be prouder to have been a part of this promotion since day one. Kansas City was a ghost town for so long, Metro made wrestling a big deal here again. I’m obviously winding down, but knowing Metro is only going to continue to get bigger and better makes a small part of me wish I could wrestle forever.

Current Metro Pro Wrestling Kansas State Champion Mike Sydal – When Chris Gough started Metro Pro Wrestling, he revived wrestling in KC. He created something special for the Kansas Citians who love wrestling.

Metro Pro Wrestling fan Debbie ChmidlingI enjoy knowing that there is a well-run group of Professional wrestlers (emphasis on Professional) locally that we can go watch and enjoy. I enjoy the camaraderie, the feeling of community and knowing I am among friends. I am also proud that when wrestlers who aren’t local and travel in to visit mention Metro Pro, they always mention that Chris Gough is absolutely the quintessential promoter

Former one half of the Metro Pro Wrestling Tag Team Champions Mark McDowell – Metro Pro & Chris G. had brought back the missing tradition of pro wrestling to the K.C. region and continues to bring a magic that fans and families can continue to enjoy.

Metro Pro Wrestling Wrestler The Iceman – When Chris started Metro Pro you had a good feeling from day one it was going to be something great and since Metro Pro bursted on the scene 5 years ago and made KC a hotbed for professional wrestling again it has given KC something else to be excited about…The Royals, The Chiefs and for the past 5 years Metro Pro Wrestling…Thank you Chris and thank you Metro Pro fans!

Metro Pro Wrestling fan Glen Enloe – Metro Pro Wrestling has grown from a hope to a thriving reality in just 5 short years. It has been a combination of exciting & creative matches along with a friendly atmosphere both on stage & back stage puts it ahead of many independent wrestling promotions. While we all hoped it would bring back the good old days of KCK’s Memorial Hall wrestling, I think we are all a little surprised & pleased that Metro Pro has lived up to the bill & in some ways surpassed it. Long live Metro Pro!

Metro Pro Wrestling fan Paul Johnson – I like to think of metro pro wrestling as one big happy family. The connection between fans and wrestlers is awesome. It’s what makes it the success it is today and will be in the future.

Ring Announcer Dan Gier – “METRO… Chris has had to answer many challenges… to build, then maintain quality “Indy wrestling” plus the added lore of Kansas City Wrestling established in fans for decades not only the live performances but TV as well… and those challenges have been met.”

They say when you are having fun, time flies and that has been so true with Metro Pro Wrestling. Metro Pro fans have had the chance to meet the 8-time NWA World Champion Harley Race, while witnessing the NWA World Title would change hands for the first time since September 17, 1981, (Ric Flair defeated Dusty Rhodes) when Adam Pearce defeated Colt Cabana on July 21st, 2012. Many of today’s national superstars have made their way to MPW including Tommy Dreamer, Christopher Daniels, Santana G, T.J. Perkins, Stevie Richards, Ace Steel and Kyle O’Reilly.

Though it may have been a great treat to have the world wide superstars appear at Metro Pro Wrestling, it has been a plethora of young talents that have gave their heart and soul to the promotion that has made sure that the fans clear their calendar. Homegrown talent and former WWE Superstar Trevor Murdoch lead the way at the start by defeating Michael Strider for the TV title at Memorial Hall. Striders historic road to the championship, as well as his feud with Derek Stone that led to a Ric Flair eques retirement that told a story that touch the hearts of the MPW faithful.

In the past, Kansas City grew to love Race, Bob Geigle, Bulldog Bob Brown, Rufus R Jones, but todays fans will tell their kids about the great matches of Jeremy Wyatt, Bull Schmitt, Mark Sterling, Mike Sydal, the Iceman, Kobra Kai Dojo, ACH, and Showtime Bradly Charles that they saw live in action at  the Turner Rec Center .

Though the promotion celebrated their five year existence on June 6th, there is no doubt that the future of MPW promises to bring even more thrills and memories for years to come.

Fans never know what to expect at a Metro Pro Wrestling event, so with the announcement of a special guest formally from WWE hinted on their website, the fans flocked the Turner Rec Center early. With a buzz in the air it was announced that the special guest interviewer formally of WWE was Lucha Underground’s Michael Striker. Fans can catch wrestler, now color commentator Michael Striker each and every week on the El Ray Network along side wrestling legend Vampiro. It could have been an easy payday for Striker to come to MPW and sign some autographs as he is a wrestling star seen on TV every week. But Michael Strider, who is now the MPW commissioner, has been on a quest to remove Jeremy Wyatt by proclaiming the next match that Wyatt loses will be his last at MPW shocked everyone in attendance when he enlisted Striker to challenge Wyatt if he was able to defeat Ricky Cruz at the beginning of the night.

The evenings main event would also be the return of ECW Legend Tommy Dreamer going to war in a NO-DQ match with the Worlds Fittest Wrestler, Mark Sterling.

Before we take a moment to check out the highlights of another exciting night of action of Metro Pro Wrestling, let me extended an invitation to you to become part of the MPW family on August the 8TH when they begin their march for five more years of action that you will not want to miss.

The Jeff Thompson Memorial Brings Family and Friends Together

Posted by flairwhoooooo on May 31, 2015

 photo 0_zpsngcjulgr.jpg

Missouri Wrestling Revival has supported pro wrestling for the past eight years and during that time we have traveled through the beautiful state of Iowa to meet the wonderful fans. While covering some of the biggest matches of this era on the independent scene that would include the likes of Tyler Black (Seth Rollins) Davey Richards, Adam Pearce and not one, but two Iron Man matches between Jeremy Wyatt and Mark Sterling.

 photo 0j_zpsuqcfrahv.jpg

On this night, I would be traveling to Nevada, Iowa , a town just outside of Des Moines the home base for 3XWrestling as an invite from my longtime friend 3XW fan Brian Vanderwal . Several months prior to the event Brian had Facebooked myself to ask if I could free my schedule to attend a memorial show that he was working with 3XW to honor the memory of his longtime friend Jeff Thompson. Due to the fact that it was Mothers Day and I had hoped to take my mother to Kansas City for the spring race of NASCAR event at Kansas Speedway for the Spongebob Squarepants 400, yet we would not be able to do so as she works at a nursing home for the past 35 years and was unable to get off, so I contacted my friend Brian to let him know the week prior that I would be there, and look forward to supporting his effort to make the Jeff Thompson Memorial Show a success.

To be honest, I can’t say that I had known Jeff, but it was obvious that he had touched many of those in the wrestling community by the kind words that many of the wrestlers had to say about him. I had written a press release on the pain that a mother/fathers have when they lose a child. Jeff a longtime wrestling fan ,made his way to cheer on the Nevada, Iowa girls basketball team on March 7th to win their first ever state basketball tournament . On the way out of the building Jeff collapsed and passed away due to a brain aneurysm on the way out of the arena that night. I did not know Jeff’s mother, Deb and had hoped that it was appropriate for the occasion, but Brian had told me that she had loved it and when we met prior to the event she had given me a hug to start off a memorable night in Iowa.

While meeting with his Dad, Ken, he and I exchanged stories of him traveling through Missouri, only to have a flat tire, and receiving help from a Missourian that had not asked for payment. We spoke about NASCAR and most importantly we talked about Jeff. Ken was impressed in the fact how Jeff had touched so many in the wrestling and Heavy Metal music community. While we spoke friends, family and fans of pro wrestling started to fill up, Ken told me the story that summed up how powerful a mother can be to their child as he explained how Jeff’s first spoken word were “mom” and on that tragic day that Jeff would pass away, his mother Deb was there and Jeff’s last words were “mom”.

Headlining the evenings events were a tag team tournament to crown the first ever 3XW Jeff Thompson Memorial tournament featuring four exciting tag teams including the former MWR Tag Team of the Year the American Bulldogs ( Mark McDowell and Jon West) , the exciting tag team AC/DC of Arik Cannon and Darin Corbin as well as the former fan favorite tag team of Heroes for Hire (Jimmy Rockwell and Zach Thompson) in opposite corners as Rockwell teamed up with the 3XWrestling Champion Jeremy Wyatt while Thompson aligned himself with Wyatts arch rival Mark Sterling.

Also on the card were several 3XWrestling favorites, as well as students from the 3XWrestling school and The Black & The Brave Wrestling Academy to thrill the fans with a night of exciting wrestling. Prior to bell time, Brian Vanderwal and his girlfriend were working the concession stand
 photo 0t_zpsn6b8ivyw.jpg

while 3XW’s Corrie McDowell at the merchandise table offering raffle tickets to the fans for a chance to win wrestling merchandise as the fans had an opportunity to meet the tag team AC/DC, SM King and Nevada’s very own Don Desher.

SM King is the in the face of 3XWrestling announcer Austin Buckner.

Prior to the event 3XW’s Todd Countryman thanked the crowd for attending the show in Jeff Thompson’s memory expressing to them how blessed that 3XW had felt having the support of Jeff throughout the years.

Sentai and Pat Powers double teams “The Chainsaw King” SM King

The action started out fast and furious as Sentai and Pat Powers hoped to use speed to slowdown the powerful SM King.

In the end, Sentai took home the win in front of a rockin’ crowd.

In the first round Mark Sterling and Zach Thompson took advantage of the miscommunication of the American Bulldogs to move on past the first round of the Jeff Thompson Memorial tournament.

A major double team move that helped the American Bulldogs win the 2012 MWR Tag Team of the Year. On this night it would not be enough to take down the Worlds Fittest Wrestler, Mark Sterling.

 photo 0c_zpsak5iqfqc.jpg

Just as Maddog McDowell was able to get the edge, down from below Thompson gives Sterling a helping hand.

Once again the Bulldogs seemed to have animosity between each other after the loss, leaving many wondering if this was the last of the Bulldogs for good.

 photo 0d_zpstt6e4yay.jpg

JD Riggs punishes Rich Brooks in the corner, with advice from his Skylar Pierce manager at ringside.

Up next, Skylar Pierce and power of JD Riggs would be too much for the young Rich Brooks to overcome in match number two as the big man keeps rolling in 3XW.

 photo 0e_zpsi7nqa7ng.jpg

Brooks looks to have a ton of potential, but he will have to avoid taking punishment like this if he hopes to make an impact.

The second match in the Jeff Thompson Memorial tournament went back and forth as Wyatt and Rockwell struggled to keep up with the tag team excellence of AC/DC. Wyatt and Rockwell captured a hard fought victory to move on into the finals of the tournament to be featured in the main event later that evening.

During the intermission, we got to see a softer side of one of the baddest men in the Midwest, “The Rebel” Jeremy Wyatt when they offered Ken and Deb’s grandson Jackson an autograph poster of the nights event in the middle of the ring.

Jackson hooks the leg on Todd Countryman, on the way to victory as Wyatt makes the count and Rockwell cheers him on.

As they say kids say and do the darndest things, and on this night was no different. As Rockwell and Wyatt was in the ring Todd Countryman asked young Jackson if he was would like to challenge one of the tag team winners to a contest, the boy declined, but much to Countrymans’ dismay Jackson wanted a match with Todd.

In years to come this mask wrestler could become the next 3XW Champion.

In one of the shortest matches at 3XW, he delivered one move on the way to getting the 1-2-3 as Wyatt took the role of referee and Rockwell celebrated with the crowd.

WWE’S Bo Dallas would be proud of Jackson because once he got out of the ring he made a victory lap clapping fans hands along the way.

Devin Carter has been one of the best wrestlers at 3XW for some time and Nevada’s own Don Desher hoped to take the cheers of the hometown crowd on the way to victory.

Carter, a wily and dangerous challenger stopped Desher momentum at every turn only to have Desher capture the biggest victory of his young career forcing Carter to tap out to the sharpshooter as the crowd exploded.

Early on Adrian Alexander was able to use his speed to have Rory Fox reeling.

Straight out of the Black and Brave Wrestling Academy,  Adrian Alexander found himself across the ring against former 3XWrestling Champion Rory Fox.

The former student of wrestling great Les Thatcher can defeat you on the ground or in the air.

Speed kills, and her Alexander caught Rory Fox in midair off the top rope.

If Rory Fox’s wrestling skills were not enough, he is a master of hiding foreign objects. Here he is choking Alexander out with a band while the ref was out of position.

I have to believe that Fox is one of the most underrated wrestlers in the Midwest, and the fact that Alexander not only stood his ground, but was able to show signs of getting a win early in his first months of wrestling before falling to losing to Fox. proves to me that we should see a lot of the young star to come.

Brady A Dezire goes for a ride.

Superkick from Dezire caught the young rookie by surprise.

The always charismatic Brady A Dezire was dressed for the occasion as he had his cow style pants, but it would be the cowboy “The Lone Star” Jesse Malone who would be right at home in the country style pavilion capturing a huge win.

In a battle between partners it would be McDowell getting the bragging rights on this evening.

A classic battle royal was held next as the 3XW stars battled it out, until it was Bulldog partners Mark McDowell and Jon West. On this night Maddog McDowell would have the crowd rockin’ as he was able to turn the tide of West and dump him onto the floor to become the last man standing.

The finals of the tournament was set as four men who have been to battle with and against each other throughout the years battle for the bragging rights of being named the first ever Jeff Thompson Memorial Tag Team Champions.

Jeremy Wyatt gives Zach Thompson the worse titty twister ever.

 photo 005_zpsh50elu1c.jpg

Sterling has no where to run as Wyatt is on top of him.

Sterling and Thompson were vicious and unforgiving in their attack of Rockwell and Wyatt. Sterling delivered the power moves as Thompson used his speed to their teams’ advantage early on. It would be back and forth as both teams looked to gain an advantage, but it would be a leg drop from Wyatt sealing the victory for their team.

 photo 007_zps2oywjlp8.jpg

Moments later Todd Countryman invited Brian Vanderwal in the ring to present the Jeff Thompson Memorial trophy to the team of Jeremy Wyatt and Zach Thompson. It was then decided between Vanderwal, Wyatt and Rockwell that Jeff Thompsons mother and father should come into the squared circle to be given the trophy in Jeff Thompson’s honor.

 photo 006_zpsghyutgcl.jpg

As Jeff’s mom and dad, Deb and Ken were handed the trophy by the winners of the tournament, Vanderwal and several of the young family members came into the ring to celebrate, I realized that I had experienced a truly magical moment at 3XW.

2012 MWR Tag Team of the Year The American Bulldogs (Mark McDowell and Jon West)

For the past five years Maddog Mark McDowell has found success throughout the Midwest winning tag team gold with various partners such as Krotch. Aaron Masterson, and Brian Scrilla but with the addition of a young protégé in Jon West he has found a partner that could very well lead the tag teams into the future of MWR.

McDowell and West in 2011 took it to some of the best in the Midwest but found themselves on the losing side of the of win loss column at the end of the day. Still, you could see the chemistry and confidence improve with each and every match.

2012 would see the American Bulldogs in a war with two of the very best teams today as they tangled with the Metro Pro Wrestling Tag Team Champions Devin and Mason Cutter, and trying to survive on their home ground of 3XWrestling against Genesis led by Todd Countryman.

The American Bulldogs would come up just short in their goal of dethroning the Hooligans from the title. Yet, along with manager Skylar Pierce were not only able to rid the Genesis from power but was also able to capture the 3XW Tag Team Championship Wrestling titles from American Ground and Air (Ben Sailer & Nate Bash at Spring Showdown 3 on April 27th. ).

During their current eight month title reign the Bulldogs ducked no team and proved they were for real by defeating the 2011 MWR Tag Team of the Year, the Kentucky Buffett, the Beautiful Bodies, the Mylan Management Agency, Arik Cannon and Darin Corbin, The Submission Squad and many more with a total of 8 title defenses .

Meanwhile the duo would find success at both Magnum PRO Wrestling and Pro Wrestling Phoenix throughout the year with big wins against “Cheap & Dirty” Preston Maxwell & “The Passion” Zac James, The Heroes For Hire (Zach Thompson and Jimmy Rockwell),  and the tag team of Joe-Dozer” Joey Anderson & Jeremy Jacobs.

The American Bulldogs have been up and down the roads in the Midwest gaining fans and getting big wins in their short career. Now they can add the 2012 MWR Tag Team of the Year to their resume.

Where we would like to see the American Bulldogs in 2013?

The American Bulldogs just barely edged out the Hooligans for this years MWR Tag Team of the Year. Still the defense for their case was well defended as they took on all challengers including retaining the 3XW title a total of 18 times against the best that stood up to take them on .

We would love to see the American Bulldogs and the Hooligans battle it out in 2013 for not only the 3XW,Metro Pro, ST Louis Anarchy tag titles but for the enjoyment of fans in the Midwest.

MWR- Tag Team interview with The American Bulldogs.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on July 25, 2012

Photobucket

Missouri Wrestling Revival was honored to sit down with the American Bulldogs, Jon West and Maddog McDowell.  Currently they are the 3XW Tag Team Champions, and have their eyes set on several tag titles in the Midwest.

More importantly than that is their popularity towards the fans. As you are able to see here in this video, the Bulldogs are genuinely good guys as much as they are talented. We have seen evidence of the fans support in Kansas City for Metro Pro Wrestling, in St Louis for NWA Dynamo, in southern Illinois for Pro Wrestling Epic and back in their homes states of Iowa for 3XWrestling and Pro Wrestling Phoenix.

The two combine on old school good guy tag team that fights for the rights while bringing to the table a mix of old and new school moves that include quick tags, great double teams and explosive moonsaults especially for the younger Jonathan West.

Always looking for competition the Bulldogs have expressed interest in making runs for the titles at both MMWA-SICW and AAPW. If so fans would have a chance to see some exciting matches with the likes of Waco and The Big Texan as well as AAPW Tag Team Champs Matt Cage and Christian Rose.

Dubi Meets the 3XWrestling fans January 2011

Posted by flairwhoooooo on February 3, 2011

By Dubray Tallman

Hello everybody, Dubray here once again to ring in the new year as we had the very first Dubi Meets the fans for 2011 in Des Moines Iowa at 3XWrestling. The show was on a Friday so we both took personal days so we could not miss the main event of Mark Sterling taking on Jeremy Wyatt in a 60 minute Iron Man match.

We packed for two nights as we planned on staying in Des Moines as we were going to head to Kansas City for Metro Pro Wrestling the following night for Metro Pro Wrestling TV Champion Trevor Murdock defending his title against my very favorite Derek Stone.

Brian had met up with a new friend from Iowa and they were talking about Central
States Wrestling back in the day and before I knew it the doors opened early for the fans that had bought tickets in advance.

Elizabeth Robb and the New 3XW Tag Team Champions The Horndogs

The first lady I met were Elizabeth Robb from Des Moines Iowa. This was Elizabeths first time at 3xwrestling and she had came with her cousins to see what she was missing. Elizabeth wanted to get her picture with the Canadian Sex Icon Ryan Slade, but Slade had left the building after his match so Elizabeth took the chance to get her picture with the Horndogs, Krotch and Maddog McDowell.

Tyler Lindsey and Jonathan West.

Up next was the very excited Tyler Lindsey. Tyler quickly got permission from his family to be a part of Dubi meets the fans. Tylers pick was the young star Jon West.

PWI Photographer Wayne McCarty and Dubi meets the fans own Dubray Tallman.

Brian was excited about the chance to meet Wayne McCarty who I was told is one of the premier wrestling photographers in the country. Wayne wore the MWR shirt as he took photographs throughout the exciting night of wrestling throughout the evening.

Photobucket

Connor Olson with Sir Bradley Charles

The next group was a father and son duo from Ames Iowa Chad and Connor Olson. They were big fans that have been coming since last march to 3Xwrestling. Connor has great taste in his wrestlers as he chose the 2010 MWR Future Star of the Year Sir Bradley Charles and took the picture without his father.

Photobucket

Samantha and her husband Cory Sorter with Zach Thompson.

During the show I met two new friends Samantha and her husband Cory Sorter. They were partying after the show at 3XW’S after party at Z’s Bar but prior to that they got their picture taken with “The Unbreakable” Zach Thompson .

The following evening we made our way to Metro Pro Wrestling. MPW is a promotion that is running on all cylinders with some exciting wrestling and some very interesting feuds. As you may have heard my man Derek Stone took down the Champ, Trevor Murdock to become the MPW TV Champion.

A great weekend of wrestling and good times with the fans and staff at 3XWrestling, if you get a chance I urge you to check out 3XWrestling this coming Friday Feburary 4th

and Metro Pro Wrestling

on March 5th for another TV taping.
