The End of an Era . . . Rhino ends Jeremy Wyatt’s Career and Takes the MPW Title

During the MWR Years no wrestler has been more successful in the Midwest by capturing titles, headlining matches and winning awards more than Jeremy Wyatt. His talents and skills earned him the nickname the Belt Collector as he won or challenged for just about every prestigious heavyweight championship in the area.

After an injury that at All American Pro Wrestling that threatened his livelihood that would have ended many lesser men in the sport, Wyatt returned to squared circle to somehow be better than ever. During the 2015 year Wyatt captured the 3XWrestling Championship as well as the Metro Pro Wrestling title on the way to an historic year where he was challenged by many of the best in the sport today. The victories would have been great for any wrestler but the fact that he had to win the matches against the likes of Christopher Daniels, Matt Striker, Matt Cage, Ricky Cruz, and Ace Steel or else see his career come to an end thanks to the evil Commissioner Michael Strider.

With Wyatt getting the last laugh during those epic battles Strider was sure that he had the answer to stop the reign of Wyatt when he signed the 60 minute Iron Man title Match in December against his often rival-often ally Mark Sterling. When the smoke cleared and the dust settled in overtime, Wyatt proved once again why he is had remained on top for so long.

2015 was a very embarrassing year for Commissioner Strider as he had proven unable to strip the title off of Wyatt. As a wrestler Strider was one of the very best in his era, and what made him so great was the desire to win, the never give up attitude that had earned him the love of the fans at one time. With a new year abound he signed one of the toughest baddest men in Ring of Honor today the Beer City Bruiser to deliver the pain on Wyatt in front of a packed house in January.

Wyatt was able to overcome the constant interference from Strider, Sterling to amazingly overcome the power of the Bruiser. Wyatt attempted to taunt Strider once again as he tried to get Strider to come out of retirement to face him one on one in what would have been a historic battle in front of two men who have once been both the most hatted and the most love men in Metro Pro Wrestling history.

Strider’s critics could very well point out many flaws of him as a commissioner, but he had already had a plan B in place as he quickly told Wyatt that his next challenge would come from the ECW Legend Rhino.

You could feel the buzz in the SOLD OUT Turner Rec Center that the man beast Rhino was in the house to do what so many before him was unable to do, defeat the MPW Champion Rhino. Unlike other match-ups prior to their match with the champion, Rhino would make no appearance prior to the war that would explode in Kansas on this night.

The ring would not be big enough early on as the two fought up and down the bleachers of MPW, as the fans ran for cover and tried their best to get a photo of the brutal action as the two me tore into each other. After several moments of intense action Wyatt dropped Rhino on his head with the lightning spiral and had him beat. Stride distracted referee Michael Crase right before the 3 count for what looked to be the win. Yet, Strider quickly got the referee’s attention to stop the count.

Wyatt let his temper get the best of him as he grabbed Strider, delivered a punch that popped the crowd. Seizing the opportunity with Wyatt’s back turned, Rhino drilled Wyatt with the Metro Pro Wrestling title belt. Strider who was arguing with the referee, quickly ordered him to turn around to count the final pin of Wyatt’s career.

With a shocked and stunned crowd watching Rhino becoming the 9th man to hold onto the Metro Pro Wrestling title, Strider celebrated in the ring like he had just won the title himself. As Wyatt laid there knocked out, Strider offered Rhino a 10,000 dollar bonus if he would drop the title and give it to Strider. Rhino would prove to be a mercenary that would earn his money and the legacy as the man that would end the career of Jeremy Wyatt.

Metro Pro Wrestling returns on June 4th and it has been announced that Strider has demanded that since Wyatt is now gone, Strider would be the man to accept Wyatt’s 2015 MWR Wrestler of the Year Plaque.

A special night for the fans as they will also have the chance to meet the tag team legends Demolition and the start of a 16 man tournament featuring many of the best wrestlers in the country to claim the vacant MPW Championship.

Missouri Wrestling Revival MO Champion Ricky Cruz vs Leland Race in Sedalia, Mo April 30th

Ricky Cruz continues to be among the top wrestlers in the country in 2016 as he currently holds the MWR Missouri Championship. His title reign will be put to the test when he takes on the son of legendary wrestler Harley Race, Leland Race for the very first time EVER in Sedalia, Missouri.

There have been very few men in the MWR years to be as dangerous as Leland Race who recently battled the NWA Light Heavyweight Champion of the World in a classic match up in Troy, Missouri and now has his eyes set on Ricky Cruz.

This will not be a match that you will not want to miss. MWR will be on hand that very night to document history for this very time ever match-up!

New Breed Wrestling has been red hot since debuting in 2015 with a family friendly night of wrestling that everyone will love.

Justin D’Air vs. Mike Outlaw, Junior Heavyweight Title Tournament: WLW hadn’t created a new championship since 2001(!) when the Tag Team Titles were started. At the previous show, Jon Webb defeated Danny Adams and Ace Hawkins pinned Kyle Roberts to advance in the tournament; Webb vs. Hawkins will be one semifinal and this night’s matches would determine the other semifinal. This was the first meeting between these two in the St. Louis area, though they had faced each other in other parts of the country.

Outlaw was oddly reserved in his entrance and then went into full rulebreaker mode once the bell rang…it was the first time I had seen him in that role in person. Notably, Outlaw turned on D’Air after they lost the High Risk Wrestling Tag Team Titles to Logan & Sterling Riegel, so there was some backstory even if it was on the other side of Missouri. D’Air looked really good with several impressive aerial moves, including a ropewalk into a plancha off the top rope. D’Air rallied and went for the 450 Splash, but Outlaw raised his knees to block the move and rolled up D’Air with his feet on the ropes for the cheap pin in 11:51. Afterwards, Outlaw told the ringside fans that it was just what “outlaws” do.

Jon Webb vs. Karim Brigante (w/ Miss Monica Passeri): Good to see Brigante and Monica again…they had gone back to Italy for a little while, but recently returned to the Harley Race Dojo. Webb is an odds-on favorite in the Jr. Heavyweight Title tournament and has been expanding his arsenal in recent months; he pulled out an impressive rana counter to a vertical suplex in the match with Leland Race that just aired on their YouTube show. These guys have a really solid matchup; Monica did a fine job of jawing with the fans and interfering when the referee’s back was turned. She has wrestled in Italy (saw a few clips on YouTube) but I don’t think she’s competed in the States yet; I can only imagine the Missouri licensing headaches. Monica’s interference prevented a few chances for Webb to close things out, but it finally backfired as Webb knocked Karim into his valet, knocking her off the apron.

A few exchanges later, Webb finished with a superkick and Sliced Bread #2 in 8:39…woo.

Trevor Murdoch (w/ Tag Team Champions Steve Fender & Mark Sterling) vs. Roy Lewis for the Heavyweight Title: Per General Manager Matt Murphy, Murdoch has contractual freedom to hand-pick his challengers…notably, former champion Leland Race did not wrestle on this show (though I’m pretty sure I saw him in attendance).

Murdoch gave a big verbal buildup for his challenger (he’s WLW’s first Eagle Scout!), but it was obvious that he had picked the inexperienced Lewis with the expectation of an easy night. Lewis was psyched just to get the opportunity to be in the ring with the former WWE Tag Team Champion, but the enthusiasm went away in a hurry as he took a serious beating. The “welcome to wrestling, kid” initiation is continuing for Lewis, obviously. The fans chanted “We Want Leland”, prompting Murdoch to ask “What about Roy?”…heh. Lewis got a late rally, but Murdoch rolled through a cross-bodyblock for the win in 5:36…I think he was in the ropes and may have had a handful of tights as well, but I had trouble seeing from my vantage point.

The post-match beatdown ensued…all three Black Hand Warriors ran in to brawl with Murdoch and company, but they got the worst of the exchange and were a bit dinged up heading into their matches later in the night.

Heather Patera vs. Stacey O’Brien vs. Lucy Mendez for the Women’s Title: There was an altercation at the previous show that set up this match. Miss Natural and Stacey had battled for the past year or so, but Lucy is also a former WLW Women’s Champion and started her wrestling career with this promotion. In contrast to Dynamo Pro’s alignments, Miss Natural was the rulebreaker in this match while both challengers were fan favorites.

I was honestly disappointed that this match didn’t get more time; the match was good for what it was, but I think they’re capable of doing even better. Lucy and Stacey started fighting before Miss Natural was even introduced, kick-starting the bout as the champion bide her time and let the challengers fight it out.

There were some really good triple threat exchanges, including the obligatory Tower Of Doom spot with Miss Natural powerbombing Stacey as she superplexed Lucy. The finish saw Stacey hit the backcracker on Lucy, only for Miss Natural to toss Stacey out of the ring and steal the pin on Lucy in 6:15.

Jayden Fenix vs. “The Yoga Monster” Mike Sydal, Junior Heavyweight Title Tournament: The winner would move on to face Mike Outlaw in the semifinals. With Sydal in rulebreaking mode for the night, the winner seemed obvious; the Black Hand Warriors have built a pretty strong fanbase in Troy since even before their official turn to fan favoritism. There were a few scattered “Derek Jeter” chants for Fenix but they didn’t last. I haven’t seen Sydal in the heel role as often in recent years, but he’s very effective at it as he focused his attack on the arm. Sydal never had an opportunity to go for the Yogasault; Fenix won with a flying knee strike(a la Mr. Brie Bella) in 10:41.

They played a video on the TV monitors in the building to announce the special guest for the May 14th show: Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat! Very cool…will need to check the schedule and see if I’m free for that.

Elite Aggression (Superstar Steve Fender & “The Fittest Wrestler On Earth” Mark Sterling)(w/ Trevor Murdoch) vs. The Black Hand Warriors (Michael Magnuson & Dave DeLorean) for the Tag Team Titles: This feud stemmed from Fender and Dangerous Derek McQuinn cashing in Fender’s Harley Race Invitational Tournament opportunity after DeLorean and Jayden Fenix had won a four-team tournament for the vacant tag titles; Fender & McQuinn defeated the worn-down champions for the belts immediately after the tourney final. McQuinn suffered a recent injury and Sterling was allowed to substitute as Fender’s tag partner; I had honestly forgotten that Fender & Sterling had been Tag Champs in their own right in the past. Magnuson only recently returned to action, reuniting the original Black Hand Warriors tandem for this grudge match.

The match was clearly going long as they did the slow build, starting with a lot of quick tags on the Warriors’ side. While Fender & Sterling would seem to be the less-experienced duo, they had teamed in the past so their own continuity was on point as well. The champs were able to isolate DeLorean(disposing of his ever-present T-shirt) and then Magnuson, but the challengers finally regained control and cleaned house. They were able to get Sterling out of the game long enough for Magnuson to hit a Codebreaker on Fender, followed by DeLorean dropping Fender with a superkick and getting the pin in 25:12! We have NEWWWWW Tag Team Champions…Jayden Fenix came out to celebrate with his partners.

Lifetime Achievement Awards Presented, New Champions Crowned by Patrick Brandmeyer

History was set to be made at the Stratford Inn in Fenton, Missouri as Dynamo Pro Wrestling introduced a new championship…but history was made in other ways as well.

The show began with a presentation by Missouri Wrestling Revival as co-promoters “Evil” Jim Yount & Crystal Yount received the Lifetime Achievement Award for 2015. Ben Simon represented MWR as Brian Kelley took pictures at ringside; on top of that, Brian Stull was a special guest at the show as he had known Jim & Crystal since their days with Midwest Renegade Wrestling and Gateway Championship Wrestling. “Stully” had been a big proponent of independent wrestling in the Midwest through “The Stranglehold” radio show; he was there to join in the presentation of the award and also to ring-announce for the crowning of the first Dynamo Pro Wrestling D-1 Champion.

Jim & Crystal have been a part of the local wrestling scene for close to two decades and have played a big part in influencing many of the wrestlers that have competed in this area. They thanked the wrestlers and fans for their support, as well as former associate Sadie Blaze who was in attendance for the event.

High Level Enterprise had been on a roll as Tag Team Champions, but Jack Gamble & Jon Webb faced a tough test in the form of Alpha Class. Danny Adams & Paco Gonzalez had trained together under former Ring Of Honor Heavyweight Champion Michael Elgin and had formed an effective tag team combination, presenting a stiff challenge to the titleholders.

After a hard-fought battle, Gamble got the pin on Paco after Webb delivered a Spanish Fly off the top turnbuckle!

Billy McNeil has been resistant to the influence of his new manager C.J. McManus (as well as C.J.’s newest recruit Jayson Khaos), but he has indirectly benefited from their involvement in his matches. This was a big factor in his battle with Brandon Aarons, leaving the fans seriously conflicted about their support of the long-time St. Louis favorite. In particular, C.J. criticized McNeil’s continued wearing of his unicorn mask. Aarons delivered an impressive electric chair German suplex but McManus distracted the referee so his man wouldn’t be counted down.

McNeil confronted his manager, leading to Khaos delivering an unseen cheapshot on Aarons…Billy was seemingly unaware of the involvement, but small-packaged Aarons for the quick pin. After the match, McNeil found out about what happened and apologized to Aarons, leading to a handshake between the two competitors.

(P.S. I am contractually obligated to note that Aarons’ hair was on point as usual.)

“The Alternative” Ozzie Gallagher was intent on making a statement, not only to the fans but to his former associate Sadie Blaze. He had his opportunity in a match with Rocket Mapache, bringing an aggressive attitude that didn’t sit well with Sadie. Gallagher wasn’t focused on winning the match but on unmasking his adversary…while Rocket fought him off for a time, Gallagher finally removed the hood and mercilessly assaulted his foe.

Rocket abandoned self-defense to keep his face covered, forcing the referee to stop the match and award the bout to Gallagher. Gallagher flaunted his “trophy” after the bell, particularly rubbing it in the face of Sadie Blaze as he walked past his seat.

“Young & Dangerous” Evan Morris had defeated Jayson Khaos to qualify for the D-1 Title tournament, so Khaos was on the hunt for payback with manager C.J. McManus and stablemate Billy McNeil in his corner. However, McNeil was still at odds with his allies due to their actions earlier in the evening…he refused to take any cheapshots at Morris despite plenty of encouragement and opportunity to do so.

Morris escaped an Unprettier attempt and delivered a TKO onto the knee, scoring his second win in a row over Khaos; McManus attempted to jump in the ring to break up the pin attempt, but Billy pulled him back to the floor.

“The Don Mega” Shorty Biggs had defeated Lucy Mendez‘s newest protege Kiyoshi Shizuka at a recent event, but the masked man was looking to even the score due to Shorty’s continued interest in Lucy.

The former Tag Team Champion was on the verge of a victory, but Lucy threw herself between the combatants to shield her man from the finishing shot. That allowed Shizuka to poke Shorty in the eye and DDT him for the cheap win…to add insult to injury, Shizuka held a dazed Shorty for a slap to the face from Lucy.

Dynamo crowned its first D-1 Champion as Outtkast, “The Filipino Warrior” Elvis Aliaga(w/ Lucy Mendez), and Jayden Fenix of the Black Hand Warriors locked up in a triple threat matchup. Brian Stull did the ring announcing for the occasion as all three men were looking for their first singles gold in Dynamo Pro Wrestling. Outtkast and Fenix had been Dynamo Tag Champs, but Aliaga had never held a championship in Dynamo despite holding gold elsewhere. Outtkast was looking for his first singles title since his reign as GCW Light Heavyweight Champion in 2002.

Aliaga and Fenix formed a temporary alliance to wear down Outtkast, but that broke down as only one man could walk away with the belt. All three men had some close calls, but Aliaga was taken out of the picture long enough for Outtkast to finish off Fenix with the Case Study. Outtkast was presented the D-1 Title belt by Brian Stull and his tag team partner Shorty Biggs congratulated him on his milestone victory!

In a true David-vs.-Goliath battle, “The Yoga Monster” Mike Sydal took on the powerhouse newcomer Kevin Lee Davidson.

K.L.D. has been making waves in the Midwest and across the country as he has been training with Michael Elgin as well.

However, agility and experience won the day as Sydal turned the tide with some well-placed kicks. In the end, the Yogasault sealed the deal as Sydal picked up the three-count.

“Miss Natural” Heather Patera hadn’t been seen in Dynamo Pro in a while, but she was in the unusual position of being the fan favorite in a match against Lucy Mendez.

The two are no strangers to each other as they’ve battled all over the Midwest. In this case, Kiyoshi Shizuka made the difference as he pushed Miss Natural off the top rope behind the referee’s back; that allowed Lucy to capitalize with a jumping DDT to get the duke.

Shorty Biggs ran off the masked man afterwards, but the damage had been done.

The Heavyweight Title situation was in a state of turmoil. Defending champion Ricky Cruz and former champion Jake Dirden had been embroiled in a war in recent months, but Brandon Espinosa had earned the number-one contender’s spot in January. Espy had defeated former titleholder Mike Outlaw to ascend to that ranking, but Outlaw scored a pinfall over Dirden in an impromptu tag match later in the evening…setting the stage for a four-corner match for the championship.

Dirden loudly voiced his dissatisfaction with the match stipulation, saying that the title should be decided in one-on-one matchups and refusing to participate in the contest.

He stormed out the side door of the venue, leaving the remaining three competitors to battle it out. Espinosa was on the defensive against two fan favorites, but managed to catch the champion in his cross-armbreaker finisher.

Outlaw broke up the hold with the High Noon elbowdrop off the top rope, leaving all three men down. The King Of Chaos attempted to go to the top turnbuckle himself, but Espy took advantage of the no-DQ environment by knocking Cruz to the floor with a chair.

Espinosa delivered a frog splash on Outlaw, but Dirden chose that moment to re-enter the fray and break up Espy’s pin attempt!

Dirden threw Espy to the floor and attempted to pin Outlaw, but Outlaw kicked out at two. That only seemed to infuriate the “Intelligent Monster” as he pulled Outlaw to his feet, then dropped him back to the mat with a monstrous chokeslam! That was finally enough to put Outlaw down for the count…making Jake Dirden the three-time Dynamo Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Champion with Michael Magnuson and Jayden Fenix celebrating by his side!

Metro Pro Wrestling Packs the House to Start 2016

January 30 Metro Pro Wrestling was a sold-out crowd. People were packed in to see an amazing show and promoter Chris Gough did not disappoint. The opening bout was Jayden Fenix vs. Jay Howard.

It was a fast-paced, action-packed match that left the crowd hungry for more. Howard took the victory with a submission move, much to the delight of the fans.

Next up was a segment with Commissioner Michael Strider. He came to the ring, his usual arrogant, cocky self, berating announcer Don Diablo for not holding the ring ropes even though Diablo was injured. Next up he discussed the Brass Ring Challenge featuring Jake Dirden, Kraig Keesaman and Devin Thomas, stating the winner would get a championship match at the time of their choosing. He was interrupted by Mark Sterling, reminding him that he was advertised for the match and wanting to know why he was taken out. Strider informed Sterling he was out because he “couldn’t get the job done” against Wyatt.

Sterling countered that he had two falls against Wyatt in one night, something no one else had ever done, he is the only one in Metro Pro who has competed in three iron man matches, and a list of stars brought in to eliminate Wyatt also failed. Strider conceded Sterling could be in the Brass Ring Challenge, however, he had to win the match or be fired.

Kiyoshi Shizuka with Geek Singh vs Redwing for the Central States Title.

At the outset, it was all Redwing on offense until Singh interfered, allowing Shizuka to attack Redwing from behind with a wicked chop block to the left knee. He continued to work on the knee for several minutes with clubbing blows and dropping on the knee several times.

At one point, Redwing made it to the ropes, Shizuka distracted the referee and Singh choked Redwing with the bottom rope. Redwing spent a great deal of time on defense for this match, but once he regained his feet, it was all over for Shizuka. Using a crushing power slam, Redwing pinned him to retain the title.

The Commission, Evan Gelistico and Pierre Abernathy, vs The King Brothers, Jake and Ryan, for the number one contender spot for the tag team title. The Commission may have had a great weight disadvantage, but they had so much pent-up aggression, they rapidly overtook The King Brothers.

The Commission attacked before the King Brothers could take the ring. They made use of whatever was available against the Kings, including an assortment of objects from Todd’s trusty grocery cart and a kendo stick from Santa Claus. After several minutes of pure bedlam, both teams returned to the ring and the bell was sounded.

Again, it was The Commission on offense immediately and This Kings were never quite able to mount any offense. With the ref attending to a downed Ryan King, Gelistico took the opportunity to bend the rules by knocking out Jake King with the Rule book for the three count, ensuring them a title shot. While The Commission was celebrating in the ring, Kobra Kai Dojo, consisting of Mat Fitchett and Davey Vega stole in behind and attacked them.

After leaving The Commission lying in the ring, the despicable Geek Singh made off with The Rules.

Next out was Metro Pro Champion Ace Steel. He had quite a few unkind words for the people of Kansas City who said there was no one to contest him, so he was issuing an open challenge. He was quickly answered by the KC Wolves, Graham Bell and Luke Langley.

Since it would be a one-on-one match, Lucy Mendez, The Assistant Commissioner, said his opponent would be decided by a coin toss. The coin toss went to Langley, the bell sounded and the match began with Bell and Mendez ringside. Langley and Steel were pretty evenly matched, quickly changing from offense to defense several times until they both spilled outside the ring and Langley tweaked his knee. Langley threw Steel back in the ring as soon as he regained his feet, but this was the opening Steel needed.

He began to work on the injured left knee. After several minutes Bell entered the match, causing the disqualification. Steel grabbed the microphone and said he could beat them both in a handicap match and Lucy made the match. Bell came in on very strong offense and it looked like the Wolves had it locked up until Langley was tagged in and while the ref’s back was turned Mendez pulled Langely’s bad leg from under him to allow Steel to get the pin.

Brass Ring Challenge with Kraig Keesaman vs Devin Thomas vs “Dirty” Jake Dirden vs Mark Sterling for a chance at the Metro Pro Wrestling Title. Initially, Sterling slid outside the ring while Thomas and Dirden double-teamed Keesaman. When Keesaman went down, Sterling rolled in and attacked Thomas.

Keesaman and Sterling formed an uneasy alliance against Dirden and Thomas, while the King Brothers stood guard outside the ring, mostly informing the fans to “Shut Up”. With Dirden and Keesaman both outside, Sterling rolled up Thomas and held his tights to win the Brass Ring Challenge.

It will be a place to train up and coming wrestlers as well as a place for current wrestler to work out and improve. They invited all the fans to spread the word. McQuinn is a personal trainer/professional wrestler and Murdoch is a former WWE talent who is now a wrestler on the independent scene.

After a 20-minute intermission, Mike Sydal vs Jon Webb was up.

These two are both known for high-flying moves, acrobatics and quickness.

They gave the crowd plenty of all three in a very good back and forth, fast-paced match that saw Sydal take the win with a roll up and a handful of tights.

New to the Metro Pro scene are the Riegel (pronounced Regal) Twins, Logan and Sterling to face their opponents Kobra Kai Dojo, with Geek Singh for the Metro Pro Tag Team Title.

This was once again a fast-paced, high flying match. Eventually, to the great delight of the fans, The Riegels appeared to have Kobra Kai Dojo on the run.

Even when Geek Singh was distracting the attention of the referee, that didn’t slow the Riegels down. The man in the ring was hurt and the one on the apron rolled in for a little bit of that twin magic. At that point, Geek Singh pulled the ref out of the ring and distracted him while Fitchett hit one of the Riegels with the Rules and Vega low-kicked the other.

This allowed Fitchett to get the pin and Kobra Kai Dojo retained the titles. When The Commission showed up for a measure of vengeance, Kobra Kai hotfooted it to the back.

Tracy Smothers with his sons hit the ring for an opening monologue and they talked about all the things that were wrong with Kansas City and how they couldn’t wait to get back to Tennessee. They bagged on The Chiefs, The Royals, The Kings, K-State, KU, the people of Kansas City.

Finally, Don Diablo was able to introduce the Math Magician. Smothers was again riled up because the crowd was chanting 1-2-3. He told the crowd not to chant 1-2-3, then he told them not to chant Tracy sucks which really got the crowd fired up. At one point, Math took a seat in the front row to watch the ranting. The opening bell sounded and after just a few moves, Smothers suggested a dance off.

According to the crowd, neither opponent won the dance off and while Math Magician had his back to them, all three of the Smothers attacked him. Eventually, Math Magician was able to out-wrestle Smothers and when Smothers took him down for a pin, Math Magician reversed the roll up and got the win.

Smothers took the mic again to tell the crowd how much he disliked them and he was glad to be leaving.

Next up was a battle of the Superheroes with Lucy Mendez as Batman and Miss Natural as Superman. Miss Natural showed us her ability to fly and was quite impressive.

Then she caught Mendez making fun of her and the match was on. Just when it looked like Superman would win, Batman grabbed Kryptonite from the ringside, disabling Superman and getting the pin.

Next up, for the Metro Pro Wrestling title was contender Beer City Bruiser Vs Champion Jeremy Wyatt.

Of course, Strider had to come to the ring to “watch the match”. When Wyatt opened with several wrestling moves, Bruiser shouted “I want you to fight me, not wrestle.” No one could ever accuse Wyatt of not being accommodating. He unloaded with several shots to the head, threw Bruiser out of the ring, slammed his head onto the concession stand table and threw him into Todd’s cart of goodies. Then threw him back into the ring and asked if he had enough fighting. The match was filled with punches, chops and all out brawling. Another tussle sent them outside the ropes, which found Bruiser on the short end of the stick. While he was collecting his wits, Wyatt jerked him off the floor, pulled him to the bleachers and slammed his head onto the railing, raked his face across a zipper from the jacket of a fan and threw him back into the ring.

Once back in the ring, it looked like Wyatt had a good hold on everything until Strider interfered once more. While Wyatt was down on the ropes, Bruiser distracted the referee while Strider choked Wyatt. As the match teetered back and forth and Strider continued to interfere, Wyatt found himself with the upper hand and was able to gain the pinfall. As he was celebrating his win, Sterling came to the ring to attack him, but Wyatt caught him coming into the ring and he rapidly exited out the other side where he stood with Strider.

Wyatt invited him to use his championship opportunity right then and there, but Strider held Sterling back. Eventually, Wyatt offered to leave the belt laying and walk away, win or lose, if Strider would agree to a match with him. Instead, Strider announced his opponent on the April 9th show.

For the title it will be Champion Jeremy Wyatt defending against the man-beast, Rhyno. This is a show you won’t want to miss, so get your tickets early, they sell out fast!

2015 Missouri Wrestling Revival Female Wrestler of the Year Lucy Mendez

Lucy Mendez captures back to back MWR Female Wrestler of the Year by creating havoc and chaos throughout the MWR coverage area in 2015.

Working beside Metro Pro Wrestling commissioner Michael Strider and Travis Cook, her presence were felt at Dynamo Pro Wrestling, Metro Pro Wrestling, 3XWrestling ,New Breed Wrestling, Gateway Elite Wrestling and Proving Ground Pro throughout the year. She has led a who’s who of wrestling talent along the way including Brandon Espinosa,Ricky Cruz and Elvis Aliaga

As a wrestler Mendez took on the best that the area had to offer as fans were thrilled to see her take on the talented Paloma Starr, Rachael Freeman,Melanie Cruise, D’Arcy Dixon as well as renewing her feuds with Miss Natural & Stacey O’Brien

In and out of the ring, Lucy Mendez was a force to be reckon with and thus has earned her second MWR Female Wrestler of the Year award.

Steve Fender is Out of Control

MWR has seen some of the wildest wrestlers in the sport make an impact with their brutal wrestling style that has left their opponents bloody and beaten. From the deranged Derek Stone to the methodical madness of Ron Powers to the man that has been a promoters nightmare in the monster Attila Khan.

Yet, what we have seen in the recent months from one of the Midwest top scientific style wrestlers, Steve Fender has been quite disturbing. As one half of the World League Wrestling Tag Team Champions with partner Derek McQuinn, otherwise known as Elite Aggression, the two have used every trick in the book to maintain control of the championship as they have remained one step ahead of the Black Hand Warriors and the rest of the young stars of WLW.

We witness Steve Fender take his actions to an all-time low at New Breed Wrestling in Eldon, Missouri  in October when he destroyed a TV that was donated from the NBW sponsor Rent-A-Center that was going to be raffled to support Multiple Sclerosis, prior to his match against his former friend Trevor Murdoch.

Scotty Zei is furious and had to be held back.

Fender explained why he turned on Murdoch at the last event by saying that he did it just because he didn’t like him.  In fact he only teamed with Murdoch,  so he could get close enough to ambush him.

New Breed Wrestling commissioner Wade Chism made an impact when he scheduled an impromptu inter-gender match between Fender and  Lucy Mendez against Murdoch and Miss Natural.  Murdoch and Natural took home the win on the night, but if history has shown anything in the past from Fender, it is only going to get a little more wild at WLW and NBW.

MWR Missouri Champion Ricky Cruz Retains Against Cousin Gator at New Breed Wrestling

Travis Cook and his hired hit man Cousin Gator looked to end Ricky Cruz’s MWR MO Title reign before it got started in front of a red hot New Breed Wrestling crowd.

The King of Chaos” Ricky Cruz is a marked man ever since he became MWR’s first Missouri Heavyweight Champion in Fenton. Cruz’s first title defense was to be against the dangerous Attila Khan in Eldon for the upstart New Breed Wrestling. However, Khan was suspended for a recent brutal attack on Gary Jackson (outside of NBW).

 

Travis Cook, Khan’s manager, took great pride in finding a replacement: the  powerful Cousin Gator of Guns and Beer. This year, Cousin Gator had impressed Cook by defeating Brandon Aarons and The Iceman (Iceman is consistently ranked in our Top 10).

As Travis Cook distracted the ref, Lucy Mendez assisted Cousin Gator in punishing the champ.

Cook not only knew Cruz’s strengths and flaws, but he enlisted another arch rival to help Gator win the belt and that was none other than the MWR Sexiest Female & Female Wrestler of the Year, Lucy Mendez.

Cook and Mendez stacked the deck against the champ with referee distractions and subsequent interference. Cruz showed the heart of a champion as he withstood it long enough to find an opening to land a superkick to put Cousin Gator down for the three count.
