Miss Monica Presented with the 2016 MWR Female of the Year Plaque with Kurt Angle: Sponsored by Herb Simmons

Posted by flairwhoooooo on March 12, 2017

Missouri Wrestling Revival was very excited to present Italy’s very own Miss Monica with the 2016 MWR Female of the Year plaque at World League Wrestling’s Night of Champions 2. Miss Monica and her partner in crime the current WLW Heavyweight Champion Karim Brigante has had six tours of the USA to come to train under the tutelage of Harley Race at his World League Wrestling promotion.

During each of the tours they have soaked up the knowledge of many of the greatest talents that have traveled through WLW including the annual WWE/WLW/NOAH and New Japan Pro Wrestling camps. In 2016, Miss Monica made a quick impact by capturing the WLW Ladies Championship at the Night of Champions by pinning Stacey O’Brien in St. Peters, Missouri after working with the 2016 Harley Race Wrestling Camp trainers Mark Henry, “The Hurricane” Shane Helms, New Japan Star Hiroshi Tanahashi, and WWE/NXT talent scout Dave Taylor.

SICW promote Herb Simmons would also respect the drive and talents of Miss Monica and Karim by bringing him into his promotion. While there the SICW trouble makers Curtis Wylde and his “Number One Ginger” Wyldefyre set their sights on the two and they had a memorable feud that escalated in a loser leaves town match.

Due to her impact in the Midwest that included exciting matches and feuds in Miss Monica was named the 2016 MWR Female Wrestler of the Year.

Miss Monica has returned in 2017 to the USA and is hotter than ever. Promoters have been scrambling to get them onto their roster as the fans have demanded more Roman Dynasty. Karim won the WLW Heavyweight Championship earlier this year and Miss Monica is on fire. .

Prior to the night of Champions MWR received a message from a friend that respected the two so much for their years of sacrificing their money, time and efforts to be the best that they could be, they wanted to sponsor two trading cards of Miss Monica and the Roman Dynasty. So for the biggest show to date in 2017 for WLW, MWR offered the hated, but respected duo, 2 free cards of them for the first 200 fans in the building to honor them for their accomplishments.

The day and night was filled with a Meet and Greet with Kurt Angle, and a packed night of wrestling so time restraints kept us from doing a presentation. In front of the SOLD OUT crowd.

Yet, thanks to WLW we were humbled to have the 2017 WWE Hall of Fame recipient Kurt Angle take part in the 2016 MWR presentation of Miss Monica’s plaque sponsored by Herb Simmons in the very office of the “Greatest Wrestler in God’s Green Earth”, Harley Race.

Congrats Miss Monica for earning the title as the 2016 MWR Female of the Year.

-“The Legacy” Leland Race started off the show by bringing out his father, WLW promoter Harley Race. Harley said that it was an honor to appear in front of the great wrestling fans despite his recent health issues…however, Jayden Fenix attacked Leland from behind to kick-start their opening contest.

-Heavyweight Title Tournament: “The Legacy” Leland Race(w/ Harley Race) d. Jayden Fenix by DQ when Fenix refused to release a hanging armbar over the ropes after the referee’s five-count (3:59). Harley lent a hand to break up the hold and Jr. Heavyweight Champion “The Hybrid Ace” Jon Webb ran out to fight off Fenix.

-Heavyweight Title Tournament: “The Roman Dynasty” Karim Brigante(w/ Miss Monica Passeri) d. Rex Fults with the roaring elbow after a trip-up by Monica (7:46).

-Heavyweight Title Tournament: Superstar Steve Fender d. Brandon Espinosa after a brainbuster (11:30).

-Stacey O’Brien fought “Miss Natural” Heather Patera to a double countout (7:53). The match was supposed to decide a challenger for Women’s Champion Lucy Mendez at the March 11th show.

-“The Hybrid Ace” Jon Webb d. “Kickin'” Kyle Roberts to retain the Jr. Heavyweight Title by countering a flying roundhouse kick into a kneebar takedown for the tapout (7:08).

-Heavyweight Title Tournament: “The Roman Dynasty” Karim Brigante(w/ Miss Monica Passeri) won a triple threat match with Superstar Steve Fender and “The Legacy” Leland Race to become the new WLW Heavyweight Champion. Jayden Fenix interfered against Race when he had Fender in the Crippler Crossface, leading to Race taking out Fender and Fenix with a plancha. Brigante caught Race off guard with a pop-up forearm smash, then finished him with the roaring elbow (14:10).

2016 Missouri Wrestling Revival Female Wrestler of the Year – Miss Monica Passeri

Posted by flairwhoooooo on January 17, 2017

00

Italians do it better!”

If you heard that last year than you most definitely took in a wrestling event that had Miss Monica Passeri in the squared circle.

Women’s wrestling received a boost in 2016 when the Roman Dynasty of Karim Brigante and Miss Monica made their home to train with Harley Races World League Wrestling all the way from Rome, Italy. Though she was a fan favorite for all the single guys in attendance she quickly let it be known that she was not to be messed with in the ring.

Miss Monica started to wrestle for European Pro Wrestling (TV Tapings) in Europe. After that she became the Official voice of the WWE in Italian Television for WWE Afterburn and Bottomlin.

In the ring in 2016 she was put to the test and excelled defeating 2-time MWR female Wrestler of the Year, Miss Natural Heather Patera at New Breed Wrestling. That win would set off a feud that would last all summer long that would also include Stacey O’Brien.

In August, Miss Monica would capture a huge win when she pinned Paloma Starr at SICW in East Carondelet, Illinois. During that night Miss Monica and Karim Brigante would get the attention of SICW trouble makers Curtis Wylde and his number one ginger Wyldefyre leading the four on a collision course in a loser leaves town match in September.

She would participate in the annual week long WLW, WWE, New Japan, Noah camp with special trainers Dr. Tom Pritchard, Hiroshi Takahashi, Brian Breaker and the Hurricane. She took the advice and knowledge to good use when she won the WLW Ladies Championship in a triple treat match between champion Patera and O’Brien.

When WWE was on tour in the Midwest, Passeri was put to the test when she met the unstoppable Nia Jax on Raw and Smackdown. That beating may have led to her losing the title so quickly as O’Brien regain the belt in Grain Valley, MO five days later during her first title defense.

The troubles would continue when she teamed up with Brigante to take on the Wylde’s at SICW in a loser leaves town match. When the smoke cleared the Wylde’s masterfully used distraction to seal a victory that sent the Roman Dynasty packing in 2016.

Still, Miss Monica had made an impact showing what we believe here at MWR to be just a glimmer of what she has to offer in the world of pro wrestling.

With the New Year upon us, the Roman Dynasty is set to return and looks to be hotter than ever in 2017.
We would like to congratulate Miss Monica for a great year by naming her the 2016 MWR Female of the Year.

Look for an exclusive MWR Female Wrestler of the Year Miss Monica exclusive artwork honoring her for this achievement from acclaimed artist Dartallion Allen Jr. in the future.

If you would like to sponsor the MWR Female Wrestler of the Year Plaque for Miss Monica then please contact MWR at flairwhoooooo@yahoo.com. The cost is $50.00 and you will receive a past MWR Yearbook, a Tyler Black (Seth Rollins rookie card) and a mention on the MWR Website.

Stacey O’Brien Defeats Miss Monica to Become a 5-Time WLW Ladies Champion in Grain Valley, Missouri

Posted by flairwhoooooo on September 18, 2016

stacey-obrien

Miss Monica reached the mountain top at the biggest show of the year for WLW as wrestling superstars Mark Henry, “The Hurricane” Shane Helms and Dave Taylor watched on as she defeated Heather Patera for the WLW Ladies Championship in a 3-way match that also included Stacey O’Brien.

After spending time coming to the United States to train with Harley Race with Karim Brigante, her 2015 has been spectacular, but if there is one lesson she will take with her after her first reign is that the champion is always a marked women.

On a Saturday afternoon in Grain Valley the former champion Stacey O’Brien showcased why she is one of the best women wrestlers in the sport as she tapped out Miss Monica with her deadly Boston crab to once again to hold onto the WLW Ladies Championship.

Ron Powers Explodes on Attila Khan- The Wylde’s Cause World Wide Drama

Posted by flairwhoooooo on August 31, 2016

By Patrick Brandmeyer
Photos Brian Kelley

Note: Patrick Brandmeyer and Brian Kelley arrived late to this event.

Your ring announcer was Drew Abbenhaus; your referees were Nick Ridenour, Jay King, & Denny Thomas.

Bobby D vs. “The Enforcer” Jimmy D: I somehow suspect this may not make it to television, so the particulars of the match may be lost to the ages. All I know is that Bobby won by pinfall in 5:11 (thanks Drew & Doug).

Karim Brigante vs. “The Freestyle Phenom” Jay Howard(w/ Roy Lewis & “The Natural” J.A. Fair): I feel like I’m doomed to eternally miss Fair’s official appearances on wrestling shows; I’ve crossed paths with him at shows in the past, but never when he’s actually booked. I look forward to seeing this one as it was probably a good one, judging by the participants…guess I’ll find out in due time. Reportedly Brigante scored the victory after a roaring elbow in 6:13 (again, thanks Drew & Doug).

“Your Canadian Hero” Sean Vincent & Johnny Blade vs. “Volatile” Curtis Wylde & “Unstable” Dave Vaughn(w/ Wyldefyre): Given the nicknames, that rulebreaker team seems like a surprisingly good fit. Vincent and Vaughn have the current feud, but the history between Vincent and Wylde is extensive and well-documented.
SICWAUGLL-7

SICWAUGLL-10

SICWAUGLL-30

Blade ran afoul of Vaughn in July in more ways than one, as Vaughn scored a cheap win over him via low blow. Vincent & Wylde brawled out of the building…THAT would have been a fine time for me to walk in the door if I’d arrived a few minutes later.

SICWAUGLL-34

Wyldefyre tripped up Blade and Vaughn capitalized with the double-underhook DDT for the win in 9:49.

Moondog Rover vs. Waco(w/ Big Daddy): Circumstances beyond his control have left Big Daddy reaching for proteges, it would seem. Ax Allwardt has been MIA; Bubba Troll is out with injury issues and Vaughn was cut loose from the stable a few months back.

SICWAUGLL-47

SICWAUGLL-45

Of course Moondog remains OVAH~!. but the impeccably-attired Big Daddy had to be sure his new charge made a strong impression.

Moondog nearly won with his version of the World’s Strongest Slam, but a distraction by the manager allowed Waco to get the rollup pin with a handful of denim in 5:47.

“Night Train/Gorgeous/Great One” Gary Jackson vs. Big Jim Hoffarth vs. “The Tokyo Monster” Kahagas(w/ Travis Cook): This match would determine the next challenger to the Classic Title. I could have sworn a previous TV show had set up a Hoffarth vs. Wylde & Wyldefyre handicap match of some kind, but I guess I was mistaken. Kahagas had made a splash in his SICW debut with a surprising clean win over the veteran mainstay Jackson.
SICWAUGLL-60

SICWAUGLL-63

SICWAUGLL-66

This one was surprisingly short; Kahagas had Jackson cornered, but sidestepped as Hoffarth charged with an avalanche. The big man hit Gary by mistake, leading to Kahagas disposing of Hoffarth with a roundhouse kick to the head before pinning Jackson in 5:55. Kahagas is the new number-one contender to the Classic Wrestling Championship and he appears to have the number of Gary Jackson.

“Ironman” Ken Kasa & “Dead Sexy” Daniel Gunner vs. Brandon Espinosa & “The Icon” Chris Hargas(w/ Travis Cook): Oddly, this was the only one of the three matches featuring Travis’ charges where he provided his own introductions. Espy and Hargas added their two cents; Hargas has shown a lot of improvement on his mic work in recent months.

SICWAUGLL-79

Kasa has been feuding with Travis Cook’s Organization in general and Hargas in particular, culminating in last month’s 30-Minute Ironman Match victory over Hargas. Kasa got Cook in the ring for five minutes and humiliated him by pulling down his pants, revealing his trademark Spongebob Squarepants boxer shorts…bwahahaha. As a result, Travis promised a reward to either of his proteges if they did some damage to Kasa in this tag match.
SICWAUGLL-87

SICWAUGLL-93

The TCO were a slightly more cohesive unit in this one, having done a lot of damage in recent months with the spike piledriver…when they teased the double-team move on Gunner, the referee warned them against it only to be blatantly decked by Espy.

SICWAUGLL-94

That drew a disqualification in 9:53 as Espy and Hargas delivered the spike piledriver…Gunner had to be stretchered out of the ring, leaving Kasa to vow revenge for his partner’s injury.

Miss Monica Passeri vs. Paloma Starr: Despite being a fan favorite in her previous SICW apperance(vs. Lucy Mendez), Paloma was a rulebreaker on this night.
a>

Notably, Brigante and Monica are fan favorites here…both have struck me as being extremely friendly and courteous in person. Monica had some clothing issues as her T-shirt was ripped, so she was covering herself for a good portion of the matchup. This actually led to a fan throwing her a jacket at one point!

SICWAUGLL-146

SICWAUGLL-148

SICWAUGLL-159

SICWAUGLL-175

Curtis Wylde & Wyldefyre made their way to ringside for a closer look at the bout; Monica overcame both opponent and wardrobe malfunction as she won with an X-Factor(sitout faceslam) in 8:07.

SICWAUGLL-185

The Wyldes cornered Monica afterwards, as apparently Wyldefyre has exclusive rights to female presence in this promotion…that brought out Karim Brigante to back up his lady and set up a mixed tag match for September 17th.

SICWAUGLL-207
Wylde threatened to send them back to Italy by getting their work visas revoked…and that somehow turned into an official stipulation for the matchup. However, the Wyldes will be booted from SICW if THEY lose…huh. Wyldefyre hasn’t been in a lot of official matches; her previous action took place at South Broadway almost ten years ago against Jennifer Starr, so it’ll be interesting to see how she does in next month’s mixed tag.

Ron Powers vs. Attila Khan(w/ Travis Cook), no-DQ match for the Classic Title:

SICWAUGLL-220

These two traded falls in last month’s best-of-three-falls six-man tag, setting up this bout. The referee checked Khan for weapons and found his fork, only to Travis to remind him of the stipulation so it was all for naught. As you might expect from the personalities involved, they didn’t wait long before throwing fists and brawling out of the ring. This scared the bejeezus out of some kids in my section, who were left crying and wanting to go home!

SICWAUGLL-234

SICWAUGLL-240

SICWAUGLL-244

SICWAUGLL-246

SICWAUGLL-252

SICWAUGLL-258

I dare say that Chuck Taylor(err, DUSTIN) has nothing on these two. Chairs flew, Khan bled, and miraculously they made it back to the ring. Travis instructed Khan to wedge a metal garbage can between the turnbuckles, but the momentary loss of focus allowed Powers to avalanche him from behind.

Khan was sandwiched between his opponent and the trash can and turnbuckles, giving Powers the opening to finish with the RKO in a brisk 4:34!

SICWAUGLL-260

Chaos erupted after the bell as Brandon Espinosa and Chris Hargas hit the ring to attack Powers along with Khan. Ken Kasa and Gary Jackson joined the fray, as did Kahagas…ending the show with a staredown between Powers and Kahagas, who will face each other for the title on September 17th.

SICWAUGLL-280

SICWAUGLL-272

So two matches are set up for the next East Carondelet show…
