Golden Circle: Basketball Practice Macho Man Style

Posted by flairwhoooooo on September 17, 2010

Trademark Randy Savage Elbow drop (Photo WWE)

By Greg Anthony

Wrestling is my first love, I think we all know that. However for a period in time, basketball was just as much as a passion for me. Thinking back on it now I always liked basketball, I remember being 5-6 years old and going outside at my Grandma’s on my father’s side and playing for hours on end, not making a single shot. It really wasn’t until I was in 6th grade that I really started to fall in love with the game. Just like everything else in my life, wrestling always seem to creep in somehow.

“The Trendsetter” Jon Michael and I have known each other for years. We are talking since elementary school. I am a few years older than he but we were on the basketball team together in junior high and high school. Sometimes its hard to bullshit someone that knew you when you were a pimple faced little kid. You can’t over exaggerate stories from school because we have each other there to keep us honest.  The story I’m fixing to tell is 100% true and not at all exaggerated.

I approach things I love the same. So the same went for basketball, I was usually the first one there and the last one to leave. One late afternoon after school, Jon Michael and I were playing a game of one on one. I can’t remember who was winning, probably me. The bleachers were pushed back and the ball bounced and landed on top of them. So Jon went upstairs to climb over the rail to the top of the bleachers to retrieve it. As the future trendsetter was perched 15 feet at least above me, we made eye contact. We were both thinking the exact same thing and said “DO IT!”. Jon Michael soared through the air and delivered the best Macho Man double axe handle in the history of Dyer County High School. I took a full fledge bump on the hardwood as Jon crashed behind me. It was awesome until our assistant basketball coach, Coach Starks came up to us and said “What the fuck are you guys doing?” To which without hesitation Jon Michael replied “Macho Man Double Axe Handle“. I couldn’t keep a straight face and Coach just walked away in disgust.

In my opinion, if you don’t have a story like that, you should reconsider being a wrestler. Because you have to love it, live it and be fanatical about it. Kevin Nash in a promo on TNA just said after “X” amount of surgeries I’m in the this business because I love it. That’s a valid point, the guys who don’t love it, get what they can out of it and leave. Like The Ultimate Warrior. So remember great art comes from a true love and passion for what you are doing. There are plenty of people who can draw but only one Michelangelo. There are plenty of wrestlers but only one Ric Flair, I promise.

See the Golden Boy Greg Anthony wrestle this Saturday at All American Pro Wrestling.

Who’s House??? The Mississippi Madman owns PWE and we speak to US Champ Blake Steel.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on September 14, 2010

The Mississippi Madman (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

Straight from the Pro Wrestling Epic Website

A NEW Pro Wrestling Epic champion was crowned at the Lincoln Art & Balloon Festival, as The Mississippi Madman defeated “The Future” Donovan Ruddick to become only the third recognized PWE Champion to date. The victory however, comes not without controversy, as the Madman was awarded the championship after a reverse decision by a second referee. Outside interference was a factor throughout the match up, with Ruddick’s manager Mr. Late Nite providing the distraction, even becoming physically involved. At one point, after delivering a chokeslam to “Future”, the Madman seemingly had the match, and the PWE title at hand, however after only a two count Mr. Late Nite grabbed the foot of the official, pulling him out of the ring.

Under normal circumstances, anyone becoming involved in a match, other than the scheduled competitors, would have warranted an automatic disqualification, however since the championship was vacant, the official allowed the match to continue. With referee Eric Davis tied up with Late Nite on the outside, “The Future” was able to capitalize, and hit The Madman with a “low-blow” assisting him with the 123.

Just as the announcement was being made that Ruddick had won the match, and the championship, a second referee emerged from the locker room, informing Davis of what had transpired behind his back. The decision was immediately reversed, and the title awarded to your NEW Pro Wrestling Epic Champion the Mississippi Madman!

While both Ruddick, and Late Nite have filed a dispute with Pro Wrestling Epic officials, we have been informed that the referee’s decision will stand.

Any further updates or developments on this situation, as well as information on upcoming PWE events will be posted here first.

Missouri Wrestling Revival was thrilled to get this exclusive interview with the new PWE Champion the Mississippi Madman after his big victory against Ruddick.

We were also able to catch up with the PWE US Champion Blake Steel who was partying like a rock star with his valet Melody after retaining the title against Jimmy Karryt.

Sterling vs Wyatt will blow the roof off of 3XWrestling By Mark Campos

Posted by flairwhoooooo on September 13, 2010

By Mark Campos

3XWrestling’s annual “Halloween Horror 4” is just under three weeks away and the anticipation for the event keeps building. This frightful night is certain to include mangled bodies, bone crushing action and high flying thrills!

A match that was made at last months “Clobberpalooza Classic III” in now set to make this next show a must see for any pro wrestling fan. “The Rebel” Jeremy Wyatt and Mark Sterling are set to battle in what will no doubt be a contender for match of the night. The hatred between these two runs deep and is very real as they have had over one hundred matches against each other all over the country.

Mark Sterling is now hearing cheers as opposed to the jeers he had been receiving for years as a member of the arrogant “Gentlemen’s Club”. Now Sterling is considered to be a fan favorite and in many eyes should a top contender for the Heavyweight championship. Jeremy Wyatt truly stepped up his wrestling game in 3XW last year and has been on a physical and psychological warpath ever since. Wyatt debuted without much noise but with now with fire in his eyes he will do whatever is necessary to get the win. Taunting his challengers and fans alike this man needs security guards to even leave the arena.

Their feud in 3XWrestling began in August in the finals for the “King of Des Moines 2010 Tournament”. Both Sterling and Wyatt had fought there way up through the bracket facing two different opponents each that night before clashing with each other for the crown. The match that night was a masterpiece as each wrestler applied submissions, reversals and punches in what was a thirty minute classic. In the end that night Sterling was able to roll up Wyatt to get the win and become king. Sterling offered his hand in respect to “The Rebel” but in true Wyatt fashion he blew him off and instead wanted a rematch at the next show. Sterling gladly accepted the invitation.

After the match at “Clobberpalooza Classic III”, which saw Wyatt pin Sterling with a small package, “The Rebel” now claims to have won fifty-one matches to Sterlings’ forty-nine wins. Thus making Wyatt the superior wrestler or at least in his mind and maybe some of the 3XW fans. “The Rebel” then acted like he wanted to shake Sterlings’ hand but pulled away at the last second chuckling as he left the ring. Sterling grabbed the microphone and challenged Jeremy to a two out three falls to determine the better wrestler once and for all! You will not want to miss out on this match as these exceptional Midwest stars light up the Des Moines Social Club.

Some great matches have been signed for “Halloween Horror 4” including a battle royal, championship matches and grudge matches. Others matches will come in the following weeks leading up to this amazing event.

3XWrestlings’“Halloween Horror 4” will be held at the Des Moines Social Club on October 1st located at 1408 Locust Street in Des Moines, IA. Tickets can be purchased at Cup O’Kryptonite and both Jay’s CD and Hobby locations. Advance presale tickets cost $12 for adults and $6 for kids 10 and under. Ticket will also be sold the night of the show at $15 for adults, $6 for kids 10 and under and kids 3 and under are free. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. with the bell time being 7:30 p.m. Don’t miss it!

Check out the video below to see Mark Sterling in action from 2006 as he takes on Casanova.

MMWA-SICW returns this Saturday in East Carondelet with a Triple Main event

Posted by flairwhoooooo on September 13, 2010

MWR fans you will not want to miss out this weekend as MMWA-SICW is back in action with not one, not two but three matches that promises to be a must see.

If you love big men than you will love the match between Ron Powers and The Big Texan. As my friend Herb Simmons said “ This match is shaping up to be the block buster of the year. The Big Texan is ready to do an all war with Powers.” Powers has stated he is ready to leave the Big Man flat on his back in the ring or in the parking lot.

The Big Texan and Ron Powers this weekend will be a match between two of the biggest men in the Midwest. Who will have their hand raised at the end of the Night?(Photo Credit Mike Van Hoogstraat )

Another heavyweight match pits “The Future” Donovan Ruddick in a rematch with Chris Hargas.Ruddick was furious that Hargas was able to get the pinfall on him in a tag match last year so he demanded that his manager Travis “The Crook” Cook grant him a chance to get his revenge.

Chris Hargas took the fight to the Future Donovan Ruddick last month. Look for Ruddick to make a statement but do not count out the impressive young Hargas. (Photo Credit Mike Van Hoogstraat )

Has Hargas derailed Ruddick on his way to the MMWA-SICW Championship?

Last but not least the Champ Dave Vaughn’s title will be in jeopardy when he goes up against fan Favorite Danny Boy. Danny Boy was granted the title shot when he was able to get his hand raise against Gary Jackson via DQ.

Danny Boy was impressive in his match against the Great One Gary Jackson. Can Danny Boy defeat the MMWA-SICW Champion Dave Vaughn?(Photo Credit Mike Van Hoogstraat )

Jackson has been very vocal about the outcome and has vowed to get even with Danny Boy.

Can Danny Boy get the title off of Vaughn before that happens?

PWP’s Battle Of The Phoenix ’10 Photo Music Recap

Posted by flairwhoooooo on September 12, 2010

MWR fans on August 21, 2010 we witness a thrilling night of wrestling at Pro Wrestling Phoenix with some of the top stars in the country. In the main event we witness Jaysin Strife jump over the top rope to allow Jayden Draigo to win the 2010 Battle of the Phoenix.

Thanks to our friends at Pro Wrestling Phoenix we have a full recap of the events including why Strife gave Draigo the win to go along with a music video of the amazing sights and punishing moves of each match.

PWP returns to action on September 18th in Council Bluffs and we highly recommend that you take the opportunity to check out a great night of wrestling.

As the evening started, “Babyface” Tony Cortez came out right away, and called out Jayden Draigo to finally fight him. Jayden came out to the ring and talked with Cortez about their history, and told Tony that the fans who loved him now were the same ones spitting on him and calling him Francis two years ago. He told him to make his own decisions and forget the fans then left the ring. As soon as Draigo left, “The Passion” Zac James’ music hit and he and Ryan Slade came out to the ring. Zac told Tony to put his title on the line right then and there, which most people assumed was Zac using his Anytime Anywhere title shot.

1.) PWP Heavyweight Championship: “Babyface” Tony Cortez defeated Zac James w/ Ryan Slade. This was an intense match with Zac showing a new intensity and focus on winning the championship. Unfortunately for him he fell short and Cortez retained his coveted title. After the match, Zac got on the mic and addressed the fans who were yelling at him that he wasted his title shot. He showed them the contract and pointed out that he never said he was using his title shot, and he never signed the contract, therefore, he still had his Anytime Anywhere contract for either PWP Championship.

2.) Sir Bradley Charles made his return to PWP and defeated Joey Daniels in a very back and forth contest. SBC pulled a lot of tricks out including a beautiful Northern Lights Suplex, but he finished it off with his TKO maneuver.

3.) A returning “Rockstar” Jimmy Rockwell defeated Jayden Draigo via roll up when Tony Cortez appeared at ringside just long enough to distract Draigo.

4.) Matty Star finally got his revenge against “The Rebel” Jeremy Wyatt in this PWP classic. Both men used every ounce of strength & valor and kicked out of just about every move imaginable. The match ended when Star finally got the upper hand and nailed Wyatt with a Falcon Arrow from the top rope! This match is seriously one of the best contests in the 5 ½ year history of PWP.

5.) Abu Colossus defeated Preston Maxwell via disqualification when Maxwell had the Gator Roll Choke locked in on Colossus and refused to let go even when Colossus got his feet the the ropes. It took a few PWP officials to get Preston to break the hold who showed genuine frustration as he thought the match should have been his. He showed his lack of respect for Colossus who quickly gave chase.

6.) Jaysin Strife defeated Supafli in a fantastic match. Supafli proved to the PWP fans that he can hang in the ring with a former PWP Champion. This match also saw Supafli severely cut open his chin on a dive to the outside. In the end Strife pulled out the victory but both men showed each other respect afterwards. This match was also a classic that won’t soon be forgotten, and was easily the best performance we have seen in Supafli’s young career. He proved that the sky is the limit for this exciting masked star.

7.) PWP Tag Team Championship Match: Chris Havius & Donnie Peppercricket defeated The Beautiful Bodies of Brian Gott & Derek Cornell. The Bodies were close in this one but not close enough and the PWP fan favorites retained their titles. As soon as the Bodies were out of the way, Zac James’ music hit ONCE AGAIN and he came out, clearly signed the contract and received his PWP Tag Team Championship match along with Ryan Slade.

8.) PWP Tag Team Championship Match: Zac James & Ryan Slade defeated Chris Havius & Donnie Peppercricket to become the NEW PWP Tag Team Champions. During the match, Ryan Slade attempted to use the Canadian flag as a weapon, however the referee caught him and took the flag away setting it on the apron. In a shocking turn of events, ring announcer Axel Greece grabbed the flag and nailed Peppercricket with it as he was attempting a tag team finishing move with Havius! Zac James then hit the Sliced Bread #2 and we had new tag team champions. Afterwards Greece got on the mic, announced the winners of the match and proclaimed that he was sick of being made fun of, beaten up, not taken seriously, and that he would lead Zac & Slade to greatness. He also proclaimed that one of them would win the Phoenix Challenge!

9.) Jayden Draigo won the annual Phoenix Challenge! A lot of interesting things happened in the course of this match, including Havius & Peppercricket immediately going after Zac & Slade as soon as they got to the ring. Abu Colossus was the last entrant and as soon as he hit the ring he went immediately after Preston Maxwell who got eliminated while brawling with each other and probably didn’t even realize it. They kept fighting with each other outside the ring for a good five minutes, fighting their way back to the locker room. It came down to last years winner Jaysin Strife & Draigo, but Strife shocked the crowd by jumping out to the floor on his own! Draigo had the match won, but his look of glory soon turned to anger when Tony Cortez came out and the match was announced: Cortez would finally get his hands on Draigo September 18th when they fight one on one for the PWP Heavyweight Championship!

Strife then said to Cortez that a deal is a deal, and now that Cortez will finally get his hands on Draigo – he needs to remember that Strife did him a huge favor, and Cortez still owes him another shot at the PWP Title.

Phoenix Challenge Order of Entry:

1. Sir Bradley Charles
2. “The Rebel” Jeremy Wyatt
3. “The Canadian Sex Icon” Ryan Slade
4. Jaysin Strife
5. “The Rockstar” Jimmy Rockwell
6. Donnie Peppercricket
7. Jayden Draigo
8. Derek Cornell
9. Joey Daniels
10. Matty Star
11. Angelus Layne
12. “The Passion” Zac James
13. Chris Havius
14. Brian Gott
15. Abu Colossus

Eliminations:

* Jeremy Wyatt by Sir Bradley Charles
* Joey Daniels by Jimmy Rockwell
* Sir Bradley Charles by Zac James & Ryan Slade

* Chris Havius simultaneously with Zac James
* Zac James simultaneously with Chris Havius
* Brian Gott by Abu Colossus
* Preston Maxwell simultaneously with Abu Colossus by Jayden Draigo
* Abu Colossus simultaneously with Preston Maxwell by Jayden Draigo
* Jaysin Strife eliminated himself

It was one of the most memorable PWP shows to date! Thanks to everyone who came out! The next show is September 18, 2010 at the National Guard Armory in Council Bluffs! Already announced:

PWP fans! Battle Of The Phoenix 2010 was an incredible night full of shock and surprises! Join us on SEPTEMBER 18, 2010 at the Council Bluffs National Guard Armory for a huge night of live pro wrestling!

PWP HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP:
”BABYFACE” TONY CORTEZ VS. JAYDEN DRAIGO

Jayden Draigo has been a thorn in Tony Cortez’s side ever since he returned to PWP. Last month, Jaysin Strife jumped out of the ring and allowed Draigo to win the annual Phoenix Challenge. Tony Cortez came out and it became clear that a deal had been made. After months and months of Tony trying to get his hands on Draigo, it will finally happen! Will Tony Cortez continue to prove why he is the champion? Or will Draigo find a way to steal the title away from Tony?

PWP TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP:
ZAC JAMES & RYAN SLADE W/ AXEL GREECE VS. CHRIS HAVIUS & DONNIE PEPPERCRICKET

Last month saw Zac James finally cash in his Anytime Anywhere contract, and he cashed it in right after PWP Tag Team Champions Chris Havius & Donnie Peppercricket defeated the Beautiful Bodies. In a huge shock to everyone, former ring announcer Axel Greece attacked Donnie Peppercricket during their match allowing Zac & Slade to pick up the victory. He then announced to the world that he was sick of being joked on, not taken seriously and ignored, and he would lead these men to greatness. Havius & Peppercricket will no doubt be looking for huge retribution in this match, and they will be fresh. Who will take home the titles?

REMATCH:
JAYSIN STRIFE VS. SUPAFLI

One match that was talked about so much by all the fans from our August event was Jaysin Strife Vs. Supafli. Supafli has asked PWP officials for a rematch, and because there has been so much buzz about this match, they have agreed! You won’t want to miss this!

ONE SHOT CHALLENGE:
#1 Brett Young will be in attendance and word has it that he will be issuing his “One Shot Challenge!” Last time this happened, Abu Colossus answered the call and defeated Young. Will he taste defeat again, or will he come out victorious?

ALSO IN ACTION: Abu Colossus, Matty Starr, Preston Maxwell, Derek Cornell, Joey Daniels, Jay Johnson & more!
