Jake Dirden is facing challengers from all sides…and the Dynamo Tag Team Titles changed hands for the first time in nearly two years!

The night started at the Stratford Inn in Fenton with Jeremy Wyatt taking on newcomer Andrew Wilder. “The Belt Collector” had his sights set on one of the few championships that he hasn’t held…and while Wilder put up a good fight, he was outmatched in this case. Wyatt forced the youngster to tap out to a unique half-crab variation.

Another favorite in the night’s battle royal was Alexandre Rudolph. Rudolph’s size and power were a major factor in that instance, but he showed his intelligence earlier in the night by reversing Geek Singh‘s armbar attempt into a pinning combination.

 photo 1620645_669586626412992_1521976101_n_zps368684d9.jpg

Executive Director Mark Bland hyped the night’s lineup but was interrupted by manager Travis Cook. With Ken Kasa and Dave Vaughn‘s Missouri licensing up in the air, Cook was seemingly left without representation on the show…but he had something else in mind for the evening.

Rivals Mike Sydal and “Showtime” Bradley Charles did battle…Sydal was the crowd favorite on this night and picked up the win after a moonsault while holding his yoga mat.

It was every man for himself in a four-corner bout featuring Jon Webb, “The Alternative” Brandon Gallagher, Ace Hawkins, and Evan “Money” Morris. Alliances formed and were quickly tossed aside as only one man could emerge victorious; that mentality worked in Gallagher’s favor as he took advantage of the chaos that ensued. After Webb hit Sliced Bread #2 on Hawkins, Gallagher threw Webb out of the ring and pinned Ace with feet on the ropes for illegal leverage.

Kevin X took on Mark Sterling in a battle of heavy hitters. Sterling’s crossfit background allowed him to hang in there with the veteran, but Kevin X took home the victory after his signature Pavement Drop. Bland announced that Kevin X would get the next title shot at Jake Dirden at the Off Broadway show…and that brought out the champion himself. Dirden complained that Bland was simply “handing out” title shots to whoever wanted them and that he should only be facing the most worthy challengers. By the end of the night, Dirden would have no shortage of opponents on his agenda.

The title was not on the line as Dirden faced WLW Heavyweight Champion Elvis Aliaga. Aliaga lose a close bout to Dirden in January with the Dynamo Championship at stake; however, Elvis claimed the referee had prematurely called for the bell when he lost consciousness in the Asiatic Spike hold. This time around, Aliaga was all business as he took the fight to his larger opponent…but things got out of control and the fight ended in a no-contest after both men shoved the official. All three referees and Mark Bland entered the ring to restore order, but Dirden laid out Aliaga with the title belt. Dirden took his leave, but not before literally shoving the belt in Bland’s face.

After the Black Hand Warriors scored a victory over Shorty Biggs and Evan “Money” Morris last month, Shorty and his Tag Team Championship partner Outtkast had to defend their belts against the WLW Tag Champs. Michael Magnuson and David DeLorean showed their tag team expertise as they took the champs to their limit, but the Bumrush Brothers turned the tide before Travis Cook made his presence known. The champs and the referee were both distracted and DeLorean took advantage with a low blow on Shorty…DeLorean put Magnuson on top of Shorty and the referee turned around to make the three-count. The Bumrush Brothers’ 22-month reign as champions had ended…and it looks like Travis Cook has a new tag team in his stable! As of this writing, there’s no word on what Kasa and Vaughn feel about the situation…

 photo 1011215_669586549746333_2039385579_n_zps9aada7de.jpg

The Dynamo Rumble was a situation with no friends or allies…only one competitor could walk away as the winner with a guaranteed Heavyweight Title shot. Several favored competitors entered the fray along with some surprise entrants; Lucy Mendez was the second entrant and the lone female contender, lasting several minutes before being eliminated by Wyatt. Newcomer Andino Giovanni made his return after a long injury layoff, battling several more experienced opponents until being double-teamed by Wyatt and SBC. Rudolph was the powerhouse of the field, eliminating several entrants and lasting until the final four.

Several existing issues surfaced in the midst of the battle; Sydal and SBC locked horns once again, leading to Charles throwing Sydal out of the ring and getting some retribution for his earlier loss. Wilder crossed paths with Wyatt once again and was sent floorward. The Black Hand Warriors had to deal with not only the Bumrush Brothers but also Jack Gamble; Gamble and partner Jon Webb had been targetting the pair’s WLW Tag Titles in recent months. DeLorean eliminated Gamble, but the Black Hand Warriors’ night wasn’t quite over.

Outtkast eliminated DeLorean, then Magnuson entered only to be jumped in the aisleway by Shorty Biggs! Shorty didn’t want to wait for his official entrance to the matchup as he assaulted Magnuson at ringside, then brought him into the ring for a double-team beating and elimination. Undaunted, Magnuson pulled Shorty to the floor from outside the ring…that issue is nowhere close to being settled..

Dan Walsh hit the ring and immediately set his sights on Brandon Gallagher; Gallagher had cost Walsh a match to Kevin X in January and “Walking Reality” wanted to get some payback. Walsh sent his blue-haired rival sailing out of the ring…but Gallagher didn’t call it a night just yet.

Elvis Aliaga was a surprise entrant at #20…he had already tangled with Dirden earlier in the night, but he wanted another shot at the big man even if he had to win the battle royal to do it. The final four of the match were Wyatt, Rudolph, Walsh, and Aliaga…the remaining competitors focused their efforts on Rudolph, allowing Wyatt to finally get him out of the ring. Wyatt threw Walsh over the ropes…and Gallagher(who was still lurking at ringside) pulled him to the floor to cause his elimination!

That left the first and last entrants to battle it out, so Dirden made his way to ringside to observe the outcome. However, his presence was a distraction to the wrestlers in the ring, particularly Aliaga; that allowed Wyatt to knock Elvis off the top rope to the floor, scoring a huge win in the battle royal!

Dirden and Wyatt confronted each other after the match, but Kevin X made his way to ringside to remind Dirden that his title shot is in a few weeks. With Kevin X, Wyatt, and possibly Aliaga in his future, the Dynamo Heavyweight Champion has a lot on his plate in the upcoming months!

In the next few days I am going to give you a list of a few of the most talented young wrestlers that will main event shows for years to come.

Adam Pearce wins Metro Pro Title

Posted by flairwhoooooo on August 4, 2013

 photo IMG_4621_zps8678b406.jpg

By Mike Wilson

Fans of Kansas City wrestling were witness once again to pro wrestling history as the Metro Pro title changed hands Saturday July 13. The night started with champion Jeremy Wyatt facing off in a main event caliber match with number one contender Mark Sterling, who had The King Brothers at ringside with him. The two battled it out going back and forth giving the fans at Turner Rec Center everything they had, and then some. Sterling came close many times to gaining the three count, but could not hold the shoulders of Wyatt to the mat, or get him to tap out with his finisher the Markshooter.

Anyone who has seen Sterling in a match knows he only has one major weakness and that is his temper, which has ended up costing him more than one match. In a fit of rage Sterling grabbed his kettle ball and with the King Brothers holding Wyatt’s arms he attempted to end the belt collector’s career permanently. Thankfully referee Michael Crase caught it in time ripping the illegal object from Sterling’s hands. This however did not stop the match from breaking down into complete chaos.

Three on one Wyatt fought them off the best he could until in a surprise move 5 time NWA champion Adam Pearce hit the ring, running off the Kansas City Kings effectively saving The Rebel from the beating of a lifetime. This was not however a completely selfless act on the part of Scrap Iron as he immediately called in the favor as he challenged Wyatt for the title in the main event of the night.

The anticipation was high through the rest of night as fans enjoyed match after exciting match waiting for the main event to see if Pearce, who had failed in his attempt at the gold four months prior, was going to knock Wyatt off as champion. Which was Scrap Iron’s main reason for challenging him, stating he could not get his loss out of his head, and wouldn’t be happy until he proved what he already knew… That he was better than Wyatt.

Ever since winning back the Metro Pro title in a 3 stages match in December Jeremy Wyatt has been on a mission to prove he really is the best wrestler in the Midwest. Over the course of 2013 he has put his title on the line against the best he could find all over the United States.

 photo IMG_2473_zpsa93100d3.jpg

In February he went one on one with former TNA talent T.J. Perkins, showing off his agility in a spectacular fashion, coming out on top with a very decisive victory over the young, able opponent. March gave us our first Pearce vs. Wyatt match of the year which was an an all out brawl that The Rebel proved to be the better man on that night.

When April’s event came we saw him take on and beat one of his most agile and well rounded opponents to date Ring of Honor superstar and one half of their tag team champions Kyle O’rielly.

 photo IMG_1298_zpsffedc494.jpg

The Commission tried to knock him off the top by bringing in the like minded and former leader of WWE’s Right to Censor leader Steven Richards, who in the end tapped out to Wyatt’s crossface submission move. Proving no matter what the style, be it high flyer, brawler, or technical he could beat them all. Wyatt was definitely on the top of his game, and everyone could not wait to see the rematch of the year.

The minute the music hit to introduce the first combatant in the main event the crowd erupted. The energy was literally vibrating through Turner Rec Center, and as expected the two men gave it everything they had from bell to bell. Each man trying to out do the other in and out of the ring.

 photo IMG_4605_zps045963e4.jpg

In the end the pile driver beat the lightning spiral, and Adam Pearce got the 1-2-3 becoming the new Metro Pro Champion.

 photo IMG_4585_zps24bf4d97.jpg

That however is not where this story ends. In an uncharacteristic act by super heel Pearce he extended is hand in a show of sportsmanship, showing Wyatt that he had done something few others had done in the ring, gained his respect. Wyatt’s reaction… attacking Pearce with a ferocity, pummeling the new champion before rolling out of the ring to escape retribution, but did he?

With the crowd chanting “hardcore rematch” over and over Pearce obliged by challenging Wyatt to a dog collar match in August, and if you have ever seen one of these matches they are as brutal of a match as they come. Metro Pro’s August show will not be one to miss, as these two go at it again only this time there be no way to run, and oh yes there will be blood.

The King Brothers reign supreme at 3XWrestling.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on May 12, 2013

 photo killercityfinal_zpsff7b34ee.jpg

Jake, Mark Sterling, and Ryan King.

Jake and Ryan King have exploded in the Midwest in 2013. Trained by Mark Sterling, the former MWR Wrestler of the Year and one of the top wrestlers in the country today, the King Brother  have now put the Midwest on notice when they defeated the 2012 MWR Tag teams of the Year, the American Bulldogs, Jon West and Mark McDowell for the 3XW Tag Team Championship earlier this month.

If the massive size of the King Brothers, and the training of the great Sterling was not enough, the King Brothers now have the Bulldogs manager Skylar Pierce, on their side.

The shocking chain of events happened when 3XW fans watched as Ryan King had handcuffed McDoweell to the bottom of the rope and was about to hit him with one of the belts, but Pierce grabbed it from him for the save. Or so it seemed, but Jake had adverted the refs attention as Pirce shocking hit West behind the referees back leading to Jake covering him for the pin to become the brand new 3XW tag team Champions!!

MWR caught up with the self proclaimed “Manager of Champions” Pierce who was not happy at all with the amount of respect he has been given in the past. Pierce has this to say “It time for people to realize who help the Bulldogs win and keep the 3xw tag team title and win the mwr tag team of the year. Me!!!!!!!!!!! And what do you get for it nothing!!!!!!!! Tell me how many wrestling champions and keep a title for a year? Not many. Tell me a manager that had 3 tag team champions with very few losses this man right here.”

The movie will feature candid footage, match footage, shoot interviews with several of MPW’s stars, and behind the scenes coverage.

The film is in production, and will shoot through December 2013, for a March 2014 release.

3XWrestling To Crown a New “King” of Des Moines.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on August 23, 2012

2012 King of Des Moines Tournament and Perry Saturn Headline Event

DES MOINES, Iowa – The all-stars of Midwest pro wrestling will be in action once again on Friday, August 31 as 3XWrestling (3XW) holds its 2012 King of Des Moines Tournament event in Des Moines.

Headlined by three major matches, 3XWrestling closes out an incredible summer of wrestling action with one of its biggest events of the year.

The 4th-annual King of Des Moines Tournament (KODM) is one of the feature attractions of this event. It is a one-night, single-elimination tournament featuring eight of 3XW’s most recognizable competitors battling over three rounds to crown a new “King” of Des Moines.

For the first time ever, former King of Des Moines Tournament winners are competing again in the tournament, with “The Rockstar” Jimmy Rockwell (2009 winner), “The World’s Fittest Wrestler” Mark Sterling (2010) and “The Canadian Sex Icon” Ryan Slade (2011) vying to become the first two-time tournament winners. They join a field that also includes former KODM entrants “The Laotian Sensation” Ricky Kwong (with Chad Mylan) and “The Punk Rock Icon” Tony Sly, as well tournament newcomers Darin Corbin, Ray Stryker, and “The Survivor” Barry Ryte.

Along with tournament bouts, two other major matches round out the card. In a very special eight-man tag team attraction, current 3XW Pure Wrestling champion and long-time WWE/WCW/ECW star Perry Saturn teams with 3XW Tag Team champions The American Bulldogs (Maddog McDowell & “The American Fury”Jon West with Skylar Pierce) & Sir Bradley Charles to face “All That” Matt Murphy & Genesis members “Delicious” Devin Carter, Casanova & Nate Bash with Todd Countryman. This match was set up as a result of Genesis members attacking Perry Saturn before the Bulldogs and SBC made the save at June’s Downtown Destruction 4 event.

Completing the card is a title match that fans have been anticipating for over five months. “The Professional” Benjamin Sailer defends the 3XW Heavyweight championship against former three-time champion “The Rebel” Jeremy Wyatt. Sailer won the championship by impressively winning a 30-man Gauntlet for the Gold battle royal at May’s Over the Top 3 event after Wyatt was forced to vacate due to suffering a broken ankle in April. Now, with a newly-inserted steel plate in his ankle, Wyatt makes his in-ring return to 3XWrestling facing the challenge of 3XW’s top submission wrestler in Sailer, who has submitted his past three opponents. If Wyatt wins, he’ll become the first four-time 3XW Heavyweight champion.

The King of Des Moines Tournament will be held at the Baratta’s@Forte Center in Des Moines. The event will be filmed for future airing on 3XW’s weekly television program on Iowa CW Network affiliates. 3XW’s TV show airs Saturday at 6 p.m. on KWKB channel 20 (eastern Iowa) and 1:30 a.m. Monday on KCWI channel 23 (central Iowa).

Doors open for the The King of Des Moines Tournament at 7 p.m. (6:45 p.m. for advance ticket holders) for a 7:30 p.m. start time. The Barratta’s@Forte Center is located at 615 3rd St. in beautiful downtown Des Moines.

Advance tickets for 3XW events are available at http://www.3XWrestling.com through Brown Paper Tickets – http://www.brownpapertickets.com (search “3XW”). Additional tickets for the Des Moines event are sold at All Play (615 3rd St.), Cup O’ Kryptonite (2608 Beaver Ave.), and Jay’s CD and Hobby (3315 S.E. 14th St.)

Ticket prices are as follows:

– Adult Front Row: $18 Advance Tickets | $20 at the Door

– Kids Front Row: $9 Advance Tickets | $10 at the Door

– Adult General Admission: $12 Advance Tickets | $15 at the Door

3XW’s King of Des Moines Tournament is sponsored by Baratta’s, Mediacom, Godfather’s Pizza, Henry J’s Taco House, White’s Automotive, Prints Copy Center, B&B Grocery, Meat & Deli, Aspen Athletic Clubs and Air Lanes.

3XW, a Des Moines-based family-friendly wrestling promotion, has grown from humble beginnings in July 2005 to being a leader in the Midwestern professional wrestling scene. 3XW has twice been recognized (2008, 2010) by Missouri Wrestling Revival (http://www.missouriwrestlingrevival.com) as the “Promotion of the Year” for the Midwest.

3XWrestling holds monthly events the final Friday of each month in Des Moines at the Baratta’s@Forte Center, with additional events throughout the state of Iowa each month.
