NWA Dynamo Pro 6-26-10 recap

Posted by reimaginejournalism on July 19, 2010

By Kari Williams and Patrick Brandmeyer

With a packed house, Dynamo Pro put on what could be one of the best shows of the year thus far. A main event featuring Pete Madden and Mike Sharona against Nikki Strychnine and Makaze, and NWA Women’s Champion MsChif putting her belt on the line against Billy McNeil contributed to the aforementioned claim.

Dan Walsh won a four-corner match with Jack Gamble, Eathon Wright, and Cancun Kid. Gamble, Wright and Kid are regulars with Harley Race’s WLW promotion. After an action-packed matchup, Walsh pinned Kid after the Designated Driver.

Pete Madden and Mike Sharona (sporting brand-new Syndicate T-shirts) came out to enlighten the masses. Madden wanted a great wrestling match, but Nikki Strychnine and Makaze had to attack them at the training center and make it personal once again.

Tyler Cook faced an uphill battle against a much larger opponent in Alexandre Rudolph. However, Cook’s experience proved to be the difference-maker as he forced the big man to tap out to an octopus-style submission hold; Rudolph attacked Cook after the matchup, so it looks like their issue is not quite over.

In what somehow turned into a championship match, MsChif defeated Billy McNeil to retain the NWA World and NWA Midwest Women’s Titles. McNeil had MsChif set up for the Trigger Effect v2.0 but MsChif swatted the referee’s glasses off his face before blinding McNeil with the green mist. MsChif picked up the win with the Desecrator.

The war between the Bumrush Brothers (OutKast and Shorty Biggs) and the Ego Express (K.C. Karrington and “Spoiled” Steven Kennedy) continued their rivalry in the following contest. The Egos did everything in their power to cheat their way to victory, but Biggs and OutKast would not allow to happen so easily. The teams battled back and forth, but Karrington ultimately propelled his team toward a win by throwing baby powder—which the ring announcer tossed to him—into the eyes of Biggs.

Jeremy Wyatt battled NWA Missouri Champion “Spitfire” Davey Vega for Vega’s championship. These two stellar athletes went hold for hold, and Wyatt nearly wrestled the title away from Vega, but with the fans behind Vega, he would not let the gold slip from his grasp so easily. The champ had just about put the challenger away when Mark Sterling interfered on Wyatt’s behalf. Trent Stone made the save, and as a result, Stone and Vega will team up against Wyatt and Sterling on July 24.

Stone and Sterling continued battling into their match, which put Sterling’s NWA Central States Championship on the line. Both men went all out for the championship, taking the match out of the ring and delivering high impact move after high impact move in hopes of emerging as the victor. Though Stone looked poised for the win, Sterling side-stepped a second spear attempt and stole the match with a roll-up while holding the tights for leverage.

Pete Madden and Mike Sharona waged war Nikki Strychnine and Makaze in the highly-anticipated main event. After Strychnine gave a foreboding speech, all hell broke loose—literally. Chaos ensued as all four men wanted to get at each other’s throats. Bodies were flying every which way, proving that not one of these athletes lost a step in their time away from the ring. They went s far as to knock out the referee, causing Kory Twist to run from the back and ref the remainder of the match. Battling chairs, ladders, tables and being bashed into the metal railing, Sharona and Madden emerged from the fray successful, taking nothing away from the remarkable efforts of Makaze and Strychnine.

Dynamo Pro will return to The Game in Glen Carbon, Ill. on July 24.

Jeremy Wyatt and Michael Strider receive MWR Awards.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on September 16, 2009

I am torn on the announcement that I am about to make. After many nights contemplating the future of the MWR monthly Awards we have decided that for the time being that we are going to discontinue that feature from our site. It’s not that I don’t feel as if the awards are a fun part of the site, it’s just that:

1) Many of the awards committee have become so busy with their everyday lives that they have respectfully asked to be taken off of the committee as they cannot honestly vote on the awards and knowingly give an honest vote. Add on the fact that there are so few individuals that keep up with the MWR coverage area (KS, IA, IL, and MO) that could honestly vote on the awards in an unbiased manner.

2) The time that it takes to get nominations, send out the final vote, tally up the votes then look up a picture to make the winner look like a million bucks is considerable. With that said, in the month of August at Lethal Wrestling Alliance, Kari Williams and I were able to deliver two of the 2008 MWR Awards to Jeremy Wyatt and Michael Strider.

The year 2008 will always be remembered as the year of the Rebel. Main events for the man they would call “The Belt Collector” was the norm. Whether he faced “The Future” Donovan Ruddick, Abu Colossus, Davey Richards, Shorty Biggs, Tyler Cook or the man many claim is the best in the Midwest, Dingo the matches stole the show. Wyatt was the talk of 2008 as he tore through 3XW, LWA, HVW, PWP and NWA Dynamo.

Wyatt is one of the most feared and respected athletes in the sport with a bright future ahead of him. MWR was proud to present the 2008 MWR Wrestler of the Year award to Jeremy Wyatt.

On February 2, 2008 in Lawrence, KS Central States Wrestling was on life support, but that did not stop the wrestlers from going out there and delivering a great night of wrestling. The main event was going to be brutal and promised to deliver as, arguably, the top Midwest Talent NWA Central States Champion Michael Strider went against Jeremy Wyatt in a No-Ropes Barbed-Wire Match.

The outcome? A huge win for a bloodied Strider. Wyatt went on to lose a nipple, thanks to getting caught in the dangerous barb wire. The fans were shocked and impressed as these two warriors gave the match of a lifetime—One that they would never forget.

Unbeknownst to many, this match would change the course of Midwest Wrestling. Strider would slowly fade away from the sport as his heart was no longer in it. Jeremy Wyatt would go on to main event wherever he was booked. He become a six-time MWR Wrestler of the month and part of five MWR Matches of the month in the process.

A true passing of the torch match.

In January the MWR Awards will return as we will honor the 2009 MWR Wrestler, Tag Team, Promotion, Female, Personality and Match of the Year. Details will be given around that time.

Thank you for your support and your understanding.

May 2009 MWR Awards

Posted by flairwhoooooo on June 15, 2009

May 2009 Wrestler of the Month

Jeremy Wyatt (LWA, PWP. 3XW, AAPW, PWE, DPW)

wyatt

Jeremy Wyatt once again dominated the Midwest . On May 1st in Carlisle, IA at 3XW he regained his 3XW Pure Championship from Tyler Cook when he delivered a Kansas Tumbleweed to Ricky Kwong in a four way dance, with the match stipulating that whoever got the pinfall would win the belt. At Pro Wrestling Phoenix, Wyatt defended his title against Payday Patterson and with his friends Mark Sterling, Brett Young and Joey Daniels, Wyatt created mayhem when they attacked innocent ring crew members, current and former wrestlers and whoever would get in their way. In Kansas at NWA Dynamo Pro Wrestling Shawn Shultz defended his NWA Mid America TV Title in a triple threat versus Jeremy Wyatt and Shorty Biggs. Wyatt was victorious, but pinned Shorty, so according to the previously stipulated rules Shultz retained his NWA Mid America TV Title. Wyatt was so close to becoming an NWA Champion, but a match with Shultz one on one will be a must see for all wrestling fans. At LWA, the title of the May 30th show was “The Future is Now” with the thought that Donovan Ruddick would reclaim the LWA title that was once was his. Wyatt and Ruddick fought in the ring and out. When the smoke cleared Wyatt retained the title. An amazing month for the man nicknamed The Belt Collector.

Celebrating the 50 year at the Chase, this organization worked closely with the St Louis Dispatch for weeks to provide a week long tribute to wrestling past and the current. A full pull out in the paper and information throughout the week prior to the May 9th show along with awesome internet links on their site gave pro wrestling in the Midwest a positive look at the importance of the sport. From Sam Muchnick to Harley Race to Gary Jackson. Harley Race and several friends made the reunion a success. Take a look at the article yourself and you will see why the month of May should go to MMWA-SICW and the St Louis dispatch website at 50 years of Wrestling at the Chase.

May 2009 Personality of the Month

Mark Bland

l_9c51e131ea45fc2940acd16b5d0e4831

As the host of the fan favorite wrestling/MMA show with Matt Krueger Bland provides an outlet for wrestling fans to speak their mind on the sport that they love. When Mark Bland decided to get back in the ring and offer some excitement in the Midwest with a match against any champion in a 200 mile radius, no one stepped up. Bland looked around and wanted to take on one of the best wrestlers in the Midwest and found himself what could be his death wish in Donovan Ruddick, the High Voltage Wrestling Heavyweight Champion. A Sunday phone call to HVW promoter “TNT” Keny G lit the fuse that saw an invite to AWR’s Matt Krueger to their show on May 9th. Krueger unwisely attack Ruddick with a chair and got rewarded with a one way ticket out of the arena. The aftermath has seen Mark Bland go back into training with warnings from UFC former Champions to Ruddick that Bland will knock him out. TNT Keny G responded on May 31 by taking over the AWR Radio program while Bland attended to his family for the day. What will happen in this feud? Will Bland be able to topple the giant or will he be exposed as the fraud many thinks that he is. Whatever the end results the year of 2009 looks to be anything but “bland”.

1st Runner Up- {Tie} Kari Williams, Paul Daniels
2nd Runner Up – {Tie} Harley Race, Eric Davis

Mississippi Madman was on a roll as the PWN Champion last month he won a huge Title vs. Hair match against Marek Brave. The Madman looked unstoppable going into the his title defense against the talented Danny Daniels. Daniels would stop at NOTHING and took it to the big man. Outside the ring they fought and up the bleachers and throughout the building. The Madman look to turn the momentum, but with a little distraction from a masked man Daniels was able to put the Madman through a table and get the one two three.

The quality of the AAPW show in Nashville on April 25th was possibly their best since last year. Our first time in this town, they had a paid attendance of 155. Not too shabby. The crowd was HOT. Yes, it was a bit warm in the Community Center, but not that kind of hot. The card was solid top to bottom. The crowd was so happy that The Nashville Moose Lodge, who raised $1,000 from the event, asked AAPW to set aside 4 more dates for fall and winter of 2009/2010!

1st Runner Up – MMWA-SICW
2nd Runner Up – IWA Productions

The MWR Family

One of our awards committee members wrote, “The two main men behind MWR. They do a lot of work, research & writing to help promote independent wrestling across the Midwest. They also log tons of hours in driving time to personally attend shows and support various companies around the Midwest”

(On a personal note, although we appreciate the gesture from the MWR Awards committee, both Josh and I abstained from voting in this category out of respect to the rest of the hard working men and women in the Midwest pro wrestling scene. We would also like to include Kari Williams who is a wonderful writer and the true talent of the three of us.)

1st Runner Up- JJ Merrick
2nd Runner Up – The Mad Conservative Crimefighter
3rd Runner Up – Travis Cook

Others receiving votes: Mark Storm

No match could match the emotion that flowed through the building as the fans wanted the hated Wyatt to lose the belt and didn’t want the loveable Lacey to lose his career.
