Jake Dirden is facing challengers from all sides…and the Dynamo Tag Team Titles changed hands for the first time in nearly two years!

The night started at the Stratford Inn in Fenton with Jeremy Wyatt taking on newcomer Andrew Wilder. “The Belt Collector” had his sights set on one of the few championships that he hasn’t held…and while Wilder put up a good fight, he was outmatched in this case. Wyatt forced the youngster to tap out to a unique half-crab variation.

Another favorite in the night’s battle royal was Alexandre Rudolph. Rudolph’s size and power were a major factor in that instance, but he showed his intelligence earlier in the night by reversing Geek Singh‘s armbar attempt into a pinning combination.

 photo 1620645_669586626412992_1521976101_n_zps368684d9.jpg

Executive Director Mark Bland hyped the night’s lineup but was interrupted by manager Travis Cook. With Ken Kasa and Dave Vaughn‘s Missouri licensing up in the air, Cook was seemingly left without representation on the show…but he had something else in mind for the evening.

Rivals Mike Sydal and “Showtime” Bradley Charles did battle…Sydal was the crowd favorite on this night and picked up the win after a moonsault while holding his yoga mat.

It was every man for himself in a four-corner bout featuring Jon Webb, “The Alternative” Brandon Gallagher, Ace Hawkins, and Evan “Money” Morris. Alliances formed and were quickly tossed aside as only one man could emerge victorious; that mentality worked in Gallagher’s favor as he took advantage of the chaos that ensued. After Webb hit Sliced Bread #2 on Hawkins, Gallagher threw Webb out of the ring and pinned Ace with feet on the ropes for illegal leverage.

Kevin X took on Mark Sterling in a battle of heavy hitters. Sterling’s crossfit background allowed him to hang in there with the veteran, but Kevin X took home the victory after his signature Pavement Drop. Bland announced that Kevin X would get the next title shot at Jake Dirden at the Off Broadway show…and that brought out the champion himself. Dirden complained that Bland was simply “handing out” title shots to whoever wanted them and that he should only be facing the most worthy challengers. By the end of the night, Dirden would have no shortage of opponents on his agenda.

The title was not on the line as Dirden faced WLW Heavyweight Champion Elvis Aliaga. Aliaga lose a close bout to Dirden in January with the Dynamo Championship at stake; however, Elvis claimed the referee had prematurely called for the bell when he lost consciousness in the Asiatic Spike hold. This time around, Aliaga was all business as he took the fight to his larger opponent…but things got out of control and the fight ended in a no-contest after both men shoved the official. All three referees and Mark Bland entered the ring to restore order, but Dirden laid out Aliaga with the title belt. Dirden took his leave, but not before literally shoving the belt in Bland’s face.

After the Black Hand Warriors scored a victory over Shorty Biggs and Evan “Money” Morris last month, Shorty and his Tag Team Championship partner Outtkast had to defend their belts against the WLW Tag Champs. Michael Magnuson and David DeLorean showed their tag team expertise as they took the champs to their limit, but the Bumrush Brothers turned the tide before Travis Cook made his presence known. The champs and the referee were both distracted and DeLorean took advantage with a low blow on Shorty…DeLorean put Magnuson on top of Shorty and the referee turned around to make the three-count. The Bumrush Brothers’ 22-month reign as champions had ended…and it looks like Travis Cook has a new tag team in his stable! As of this writing, there’s no word on what Kasa and Vaughn feel about the situation…

 photo 1011215_669586549746333_2039385579_n_zps9aada7de.jpg

The Dynamo Rumble was a situation with no friends or allies…only one competitor could walk away as the winner with a guaranteed Heavyweight Title shot. Several favored competitors entered the fray along with some surprise entrants; Lucy Mendez was the second entrant and the lone female contender, lasting several minutes before being eliminated by Wyatt. Newcomer Andino Giovanni made his return after a long injury layoff, battling several more experienced opponents until being double-teamed by Wyatt and SBC. Rudolph was the powerhouse of the field, eliminating several entrants and lasting until the final four.

Several existing issues surfaced in the midst of the battle; Sydal and SBC locked horns once again, leading to Charles throwing Sydal out of the ring and getting some retribution for his earlier loss. Wilder crossed paths with Wyatt once again and was sent floorward. The Black Hand Warriors had to deal with not only the Bumrush Brothers but also Jack Gamble; Gamble and partner Jon Webb had been targetting the pair’s WLW Tag Titles in recent months. DeLorean eliminated Gamble, but the Black Hand Warriors’ night wasn’t quite over.

Outtkast eliminated DeLorean, then Magnuson entered only to be jumped in the aisleway by Shorty Biggs! Shorty didn’t want to wait for his official entrance to the matchup as he assaulted Magnuson at ringside, then brought him into the ring for a double-team beating and elimination. Undaunted, Magnuson pulled Shorty to the floor from outside the ring…that issue is nowhere close to being settled..

Dan Walsh hit the ring and immediately set his sights on Brandon Gallagher; Gallagher had cost Walsh a match to Kevin X in January and “Walking Reality” wanted to get some payback. Walsh sent his blue-haired rival sailing out of the ring…but Gallagher didn’t call it a night just yet.

Elvis Aliaga was a surprise entrant at #20…he had already tangled with Dirden earlier in the night, but he wanted another shot at the big man even if he had to win the battle royal to do it. The final four of the match were Wyatt, Rudolph, Walsh, and Aliaga…the remaining competitors focused their efforts on Rudolph, allowing Wyatt to finally get him out of the ring. Wyatt threw Walsh over the ropes…and Gallagher(who was still lurking at ringside) pulled him to the floor to cause his elimination!

That left the first and last entrants to battle it out, so Dirden made his way to ringside to observe the outcome. However, his presence was a distraction to the wrestlers in the ring, particularly Aliaga; that allowed Wyatt to knock Elvis off the top rope to the floor, scoring a huge win in the battle royal!

Dirden and Wyatt confronted each other after the match, but Kevin X made his way to ringside to remind Dirden that his title shot is in a few weeks. With Kevin X, Wyatt, and possibly Aliaga in his future, the Dynamo Heavyweight Champion has a lot on his plate in the upcoming months!

Christmas bash with SICW Dec 14th Camera night plus Ken Kasa vs Jake Dirden, Ron Powers vs Flash Flanagan

Posted by flairwhoooooo on December 10, 2013

SICW

Ron Powers is on a mission, that mission is to repay Flash Flanagan for the brutal attack he did to him. Flanagan attacked Powers while Powers was challenging CWC title holder Ken Kasa. Flanagan lacerated Powers open and Promoter Herb Simmons fired Flanagan. However Powers would not hear of Simmons firing Flanagan. He begged Simmons to let him have another shot at Flash Flanagan on December 14th. Larry Matysik and Simmons agreed to Powers request, so on Saturday December 14th, Powers will attempt to get his evens with Flanagan.

Plus Champion Ken Kasa defends CWC title, a six man tag and other great matches.

Santa will be in the house and it will be camera night. Fans with a paid admission can bring the camera and get the picture with the Wrestler of their choice. (unless wrestler contract states otherwise)

By Hook Or By “Crook”, The Ironman Wins The Belt

Posted by flairwhoooooo on June 27, 2013

By Patrick Brandmeyer

No more trophies…Ken Kasa is the official SICW Classic Wrestling Champion.

In the early years of his career, the wrestler known as Ian Storm had the support of the fans but never quite reached championship status. After a sabbatical from the ring wars, he decided a change was in order…and “Ironman” Ken Kasa made his re-debut in the spring of 2012.

Kasa wore a spiked “gas mask” to the ring and brought a new aggression to his wrestling style…and his performances caught the eye of several notable people on the local scene. One of those was manager Travis Cook, who had already recruited former protégé Dave Vaughn to his side…with Kasa added to the fold, the “Travis Cook Organization” had two tough contenders for whatever belt they targeted.

It didn’t take long for the bulls eye to land on SICW Classic Wrestling Champion Ricky Cruz. Over the course of Cruz’s year-plus reign as champion, many nights were spent dealing with the headaches provided by Cook’s stable AND his mouth. Despite the hardships, Cruz assembled an impressive streak as champion, prompting the fan chant of “Cruz Can’t Lose!”…Cook was dead-set on proving the fans wrong and it was last December when he seemingly achieved that goal.

In a tag match pitting Kasa and former champion Ron Powers against Cruz and Sean Vincent, Vincent was injured and Ricky was left in a two-on-one situation. Vincent gallantly tried to rejoin the battle but it was too late…Kasa took advantage of the situation and scored the shocking pinfall over the titleholder!

On the heels of that win, Kasa earned a title shot in January…Cook interfered several times in the bout and Kasa used several foreign objects to his advantage. In the end, Cruz hit Kasa with a chair that Kasa had brought into the ring…resulting in Kasa getting the win by disqualification(but not winning the title).

Despite the ever-present rule in wrestling that titles do NOT change hands on a DQ, Travis latched onto Kasa’s two wins over Cruz as proof that The Ironman was the “true” champion of SICW. He even presented an “engraved crystal trophy” to Kasa to commemorate his claim to the championship! With Cruz wrestling all over the country, he was absent from a few SICW shows and unable to immediately respond to Cook’s slated point of view.

The situation came to a head earlier this month. Travis Cook was irate about Cruz NOT defending his title against Ken Kasa on that night and vowed that his organization would “make a statement” that night. After Kasa & Vaughn defeated Gary Jackson & Shorty Biggs, The Big Texan joined the duo in dishing out a post-match beat down. Travis Cook brought out hair trimmers and threatened to shave Gary Jackson‘s head…and when Commissioner Keith Smith intervened, HE was assaulted and partially shaved!

 photo IMG_2588_zpsf9ca7ad2.jpg

The champion finally hit the ring to put an end to Cook’s actions, but that was just what Cook wanted. He forced the hand of both Cruz and promoter Herb Simmons by demanding that Kasa get the next title shot after Cruz’s defense against Ron Powers later in the night. Ricky was angry about Travis’ insults(he had claimed that Ricky and Savio Vega were “stealing hubcaps” down in Puerto Rico) and agreed to the terms…something that would come back to haunt him.

 photo IMG_2835_zpsd410e986.jpg

Ricky already had a tough task ahead of him in the form of Ron Powers. The previous titleholder tried to win through underhanded means, pulling special guest referee Danny Boy Hawkins in the way of Cruz’s superkick.

 photo IMG_2842_zps2822153a.jpg

Powers then delivered a low blow and piledriver, but Danny Boy called for the disqualification instead of counting a pin. At that point, Kasa and Cook re-entered the picture…they demanded their promised title shot right then and there. Cruz was bloody and hurt…but he was also ticked off and ready to shut Travis Cook’s mouth. Challenge accepted…the match was on.

 photo IMG_2846_zps9dd4baa1.jpg

Unfortunately, while both men had already wrestled that night, Kasa was in a tag match about an hour earlier while Cruz had just completed a tough title defense.

 photo IMG_2869_zpsf35d839b.jpg

Cruz took his frustrations out on Travis Cook…even shattering a hubcup over Cook’s head!

 photo IMG_2882_zpsc8fd6a24.jpg

However, the loss of focus proved to be his undoing as Kasa connected with his trademark flying dropkick, then locked on a cravate hold. Cruz struggled to escape the move but, risking serious injury, he finally had no choice but to tap out!

 photo IMG_2894_zpsb835a099.jpg

Question his methods, but the outcome was exactly what he and his manager wanted: The SICW Classic Wrestling Championship belt now resides around the waist of Ken Kasa. Of course, now that he’s the champion, the target is on The Ironman’s back…Ricky Cruz will want a rematch. Chris Hargas still has a score to settle with his former friend. How do Ron Powers and Flash Flanagan feel about Kasa jumping ahead of them in line? How does Dave Vaughn feel about his partner getting the glory that Cook had once promised him?

Those questions will be answered down the line…but for now, Kasa has the gold and he is the man to beat in Southern Illinois Championship Wrestling.

Manager Ron Powers creates havoc in East Carondelet. SICW Wrestling returns this Saturday Old School Warriors return.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on November 20, 2012

SICW fans got their wish in October when Travis Cook told them that he would not be in attendance in East Carondelet, Illinois for the November show. The fans happiness would not last when Cook went on to make an agreement with the former Classic Wrestling Champion Ron Powers to manage his men for the night.

One fact remains with Powers and that is, you can never be sure what he will do, a loose cannon in every sense of the word. While the fans thought he would be out their to manage Cook’s men Dave Vaughn and Ken Kasa.

Powers took it on himself to offer his service to the likes of Max Archer, Bull Bronson, Jake Dirden, Alex Rudolph and his fellow henchman The Big Texan in battle against current champion Ricky Cruz.

Powers and his men did not show the usual savvy of Cook as Archer and Kasa each got disqualified for outside interference. When Powers offered his service to Rudolph, the young powerhouse decline him, only to see Gary Jackson seizing the opportunity for an edge to have Powers in his corner.

Jackson’s 3 rules applied in this

1. He came out to win

2.He refuse to lose.

3.He will cheat if he has too

4. Don’t forget the rules

Classic Gary Jackson footage.

So with that said thought Powers and Jackson often enemy’s joined forces to pick up another impressive victory in his historic career.

Powers had the experts wandering if he was scouting for more muscle but one thing was sure his number one goal was to send a clear cut message to Ricky Cruz that he had his eyes set on the CWC title as he brutally assaulted Cruz during the match.

If it would not have been for Power’s former right hand man Sean Vincent, he may have very well have taken Cruz out for good…Thankfully men like Chris Hargas, Heath Hatton and Chaz Wesson came out to stand the ground on Powers, Vaugn, Texan, Waco, and Bronson to insure that the Classic Wrestling Champion stood to fight another day.
