Missouri Wrestling Revival is proud and excited that the Midwest was filled with positive exposure in the most important issue of Pro Wrestling Illustrated the Year in Awards edition.
St Louis’s own Randy Orton was voted by the fans as the number one wrestler of 2009. Some may not like his actions or his attitude but you can not deny the mans ability. Congrats to Randy Orton for such a great honor.
One of my personal moments of 2009 will be that the promotions and fans in the Midwest joined together to nominate Mike Sydal as the 2009 PWI Rookie of the Year. Mike has thrilled fans in every promotion in the MWR Coverage area and has backed it up by becoming the High Voltage Wrestling Livewire Champion and the being one half of the very popular 3XWrestlings tag team Champions “The High Flyers” with the talented Zach Thompson.
Wrestling fans if you have not had a chance to see Sydal in action I highly urge you get a chance to check him while he is still in the area. Charismatic, exciting and intense are just a few words that come to mind when his name is brought up and now you can add 2009 PWI Rookie of the Year!
Let’s take a quick look at Midwest wrestling promotions and wrestlers that are covered in this historic issue.

That is just a few of the highlights in 2009 PWI The Year in Wrestling
1.) One half of the Bayou Outlaws Aaron Masterson Defeated Knight Wagner
MR K made a night of friendly & fair completion as he pitted fan favorites against each other. This was a fast paced & high impact match. Both Aaron Masterson and Knight Wagner went back and forth for nearly 10 minutes. In the end it was Bayou Outlaws Aaron Masterson picked up the win via pin fall.
Aaron Masterson gives a thumbs up after his hard fought victory from Knight Wagner. (Photo Credit Brian “Flair” Kelley)
WINNER: Aaron Masterson
2.) The other half of the Bayou Outlaws Maddog McDowell defeated the other half of the MECW Tag Team Champions Deliciously Smooth’s Devin Carter
Two of the biggest MECW wrestlers on the roster both figuratively and literally collided!!! Not only did these two show strength and power but they showed style with great wrestling ability!! On this night it was Maddog McDowell who picked up the win in this epic battle. In the end they showed no hard feelings and shook hands after the match.
WINNER: Maddog McDowell
3.) Matt Mayday (formerly known as Krotch) defeated Nacho O’Reily
Not only did the MECW family not witness the return of Krotch but they were introduced to a “new” MECW wrestler: Matt Mayday! Despite the new found hate the MECW Family had towards the MECW “newcomer”. He did make an impressive debuted as he quickly dispatched of Nacho O’Reily in timely fashion & also debuting with the “new” MECW wrestler was a new finisher. As Matt Mayday put Nacho O’Reily away w/ a top rope curb stomp all you could say was forget about it lights out 1,2,3 it was over.

Winner: Matt Mayday
4.) MECW Independent Champion: Gabriel Brimstone defeated Super Patrio
MECW Independent Champ took out his frustrations on Super Patrio in a harsh and timely manner. All it took was a DDT from Gabriel Brimstone who beat Super Patrio in record time!!

WINNER: MECW Independent Champion: Gabriel Brimstone
5.) The “Unbreakable” Zach Thompson defeated Jordan McEntyre
It a awesome match that pitted two of the biggest MECW Family favorites in history took each other on head to head. Back and forth this match went but in the end it was the former MECW Heavyweight Champion: Zach Thompson who was victorious.

WINNER: The “Unbreakable” Zach Thompson
6.) XXXplicit Content: MECW Heavyweight Champion: Bailey Mannix, Manager: “Lovely” Leon Alexander and The “Pride of Peoria Champion” Eric Allen defeated the Saints & Sinner: Brian Scrilla, Marshall Garrett, and Evan Money
In a huge match that determined the career of XXXplicit Content’s Manager “Lovely” Leon Alexander. If XXXplicit Content and Eric Allen did not win the match then “Lovely” Leon Alexander would be fired from MECW. But if XXXplicit Content & Eric Allen won the match, then “Lovely” Leon Alexander would be resigned to a new MECW Manager contract.

Evan Money keeps Bailey Mannix in the corner.(Photo Credit Brian “Flair” Kelley)
This match had a lot of action and high flying ability as well as some great tag team work done by Marshall Garrett and Brian Scrilla. Things got crazy when the match broke loose when Brian Scrilla went on a rampage and went after current two time MECW Heavyweight Champion: “XXXplicit” Bailey Mannix. While Scrilla and Money were taking Mannix pillar to post and with Eric Allen down it left “Lovely” Leon Alexander all alone in the hands of Marshall Garrett. Garrett forearmed “Lovely” Leon to stun him, then picked him up for the classic air plane spin, Garrett finished it off by putting Leon Alexander over his knee and spanking him. Marshall Garrett ready to put him away but the ref was distracted. This gave Eric Allen the perfect chance to waffle Marshall Garrett upside the head with his “Pride Of Peoria Championship”. Completely leveling Marshall Garrett and giving “Lovely” Leon Alexander the chance to pin him and pick up the 3 count victory.
WINNER: XXXplicit Content: “Lovely” Leon Alexander and MECW Heavyweight Champion: “XXXplicit” Bailey Mannix and”The Pride of Peoria Champion”: Eric Allen
After the match Scrilla wasn’t finished as he grabbed the mic and told the MECW Family that there was something he needed to come clean with and needed to get something off his chest. But he wanted to do it at the October 24th MECW show face to face with MECW Heavyweight: Champion: “XXXplicit” Bailey Mannix.
3XWrestling Presents Action-Packed Halloween Horror III Event
Iowa’s Top Wrestling Company Holds Premier Fall Showcase
DES MOINES, Iowa – After performing in front of a record crowd in September, Des Moines-based 3XWrestling (3XW) once again invades the Des Moines Social Club to hold Halloween Horror III. The stacked Oct. 16 event features three title matches and a battle royal, among many others.
In a first for 3XW, the main event of Halloween Horror III sees 3XW Heavyweight champion “The Rebel” Jeremy Wyatt, fresh off a victory over internationally-recognized wrestling star Al Snow, defend his championship against a challenger determined by a battle royal earlier in the evening. Never before has a 3XW Heavyweight champion had to defend his championship against the challenge of a same-night battle royal winner.
“I don’t care who I have to defend against in October – whether it’s Devin Carter, Jimmy Rockwell, Mark Sterling, Rory Fox, that punk Tyler Cook or even some fool from the crowd – I’ll beat down anyone who dares challenge me for my title!” said a confident Wyatt.
Heading into the Oct. 16 event, Wyatt, who is widely considered the best wrestler in the Midwest among wrestling fans, has defeated a who’s who of professional wrestling in 2009, including Al Snow and Ring of Honor stars Jerry Lynn, Tyler Black, Davey Richards and Sonjay Dutt. Wyatt has only lost a handful of times in 3XW in the past four years.
The 3XW Tag Team titles will also be defended as current champions The High Flyers (Mike Sydal and “The Unbreakable” Zach Thompson) battle Sexy and Smooth (A.J. Smooth and “The Canadian Sex Icon”Ryan Slade) in a highly-anticipated tag team attraction.
In a rematch two months in the making, “The Viking Warrior” Kraig Keesaman, the 3XW Pure Wrestling champion, puts his 14-month undefeated streak on the line against the challenge of former three-time Pure Wrestling champion Tyler Cook in what should be a classic hard-hitting battle.
Local powerhouse fan favorite Maddog McDowell will battle Mark Sterling, a vicious technical wrestling master, in singles competition.
Among those also competing on Oct. 16 are 3XW Cruiserweight champion Casanova, “Delicious” Devin Carter, “The Right Price” Aaron Masterson, “The Laotian Sensation” Ricky Kwong, “Torturous” Tony Sly, Brady A. Dezire, Rory Fox and more!
Doors open at 7 p.m. for a 7:30 p.m. start time. The Des Moines Social Club is located at 1408 Locust St. in Des Moines.

DES MOINES, Iowa – Hot off the heels of its Four Year Anniversary Event – which saw a standing-room only crowd of hundreds of fans pack the Des Moines Social Club – 3XWrestling (3XW) is gearing up to hold the biggest tournament in company history.
3XW’s first ever King of Des Moines tournament is scheduled to once again excite area wrestling fans at the Des Moines Social Club on August 21. This spectacular tournament features 11 top competitors doing battle in a unique three-round, one-night tournament format, with the winner being named the first “King of Des Moines” at the end of the night.
What makes this tournament unique in pro wrestling circles is that two of 3XW‘s championships will actually be defended in first round action. 3XW Cruiserweight champion “The Rockstar” Jimmy Rockwell, now in his 13th-month as titleholder, defends the championship against the demanding challenge of “The Canadian Sex Icon” Ryan Slade. The 3XW Tag Team titles will also be defended as champions The Gentleman’s Club, Gage Octane and Mark Sterling, face mega-popular risk takers Mike Sydal and “The Unbreakable” Zach Thompson, collectively known as the High Flyers.
3XW‘s other top titles will also be defended in non-tournament action. “Delicious” Devin Carter defends the 3XW Heavyweight championship against the phenomenal Jeremy Wyatt, the 2008 MissouriWrestlingRevival.com “Wrestler of the Year,” in a much-anticipated main event bout. Tyler Cook also looks to retain the 3XW Pure Wrestling championship against the devastating offensive attack of Kraig Keesaman, who hasn’t tasted defeat since August 2008, in what should be an outstanding technical wrestling bout.

Wrestling fans can watch the latest episode of 3XW Outside the Ring at www.3XWrestling.com for more details on this spectacular event, including interviews with many of the competitors.

MWR Brian Kelley poses with MECW fan Cassie (Photo Credit Dubray Tallman)
This past Saturday MECW fan Cassie from Bethalto, Illinois won a free MWR T-shirt. Cassie was front and center to cheer on the new MECW Tag team Champions (Deliciously Smooth) Devin Carter and AJ Smooth as they defeated (Huge in Japan)Ricky Kwong and Jimmy Rockwell. MECW fans witness a grueling contest when fan favorite Zach Thompson lost his MECW Heavyweight title to Bailey Mannix in a dog collar match.
Look for a full recap of the show with pictures and promo in the future at MWR. We would like to thank MECW for allowing us to be a part of the show. MECW returns to Wood River Illinois on August 29th
Jeremy Wyatt once again dominated the Midwest . On May 1st in Carlisle, IA at 3XW he regained his 3XW Pure Championship from Tyler Cook when he delivered a Kansas Tumbleweed to Ricky Kwong in a four way dance, with the match stipulating that whoever got the pinfall would win the belt. At Pro Wrestling Phoenix, Wyatt defended his title against Payday Patterson and with his friends Mark Sterling, Brett Young and Joey Daniels, Wyatt created mayhem when they attacked innocent ring crew members, current and former wrestlers and whoever would get in their way. In Kansas at NWA Dynamo Pro Wrestling Shawn Shultz defended his NWA Mid America TV Title in a triple threat versus Jeremy Wyatt and Shorty Biggs. Wyatt was victorious, but pinned Shorty, so according to the previously stipulated rules Shultz retained his NWA Mid America TV Title. Wyatt was so close to becoming an NWA Champion, but a match with Shultz one on one will be a must see for all wrestling fans. At LWA, the title of the May 30th show was “The Future is Now” with the thought that Donovan Ruddick would reclaim the LWA title that was once was his. Wyatt and Ruddick fought in the ring and out. When the smoke cleared Wyatt retained the title. An amazing month for the man nicknamed The Belt Collector.

Camron Star (GAW)
Defeated former TNA Star Mickie Knuckles in GAW on May 9th. Not much is known about this stunning female wrestler who came into the Midwest and took home a big victory against one of the toughest females in the history of the sport. MWR will keep our eyes open to see where Star will shine next.
Celebrating the 50 year at the Chase, this organization worked closely with the St Louis Dispatch for weeks to provide a week long tribute to wrestling past and the current. A full pull out in the paper and information throughout the week prior to the May 9th show along with awesome internet links on their site gave pro wrestling in the Midwest a positive look at the importance of the sport. From Sam Muchnick to Harley Race to Gary Jackson. Harley Race and several friends made the reunion a success. Take a look at the article yourself and you will see why the month of May should go to MMWA-SICW and the St Louis dispatch website at 50 years of Wrestling at the Chase.

May 2009 Personality of the Month
Mark Bland
As the host of the fan favorite wrestling/MMA show with Matt Krueger Bland provides an outlet for wrestling fans to speak their mind on the sport that they love. When Mark Bland decided to get back in the ring and offer some excitement in the Midwest with a match against any champion in a 200 mile radius, no one stepped up. Bland looked around and wanted to take on one of the best wrestlers in the Midwest and found himself what could be his death wish in Donovan Ruddick, the High Voltage Wrestling Heavyweight Champion. A Sunday phone call to HVW promoter “TNT” Keny G lit the fuse that saw an invite to AWR’s Matt Krueger to their show on May 9th. Krueger unwisely attack Ruddick with a chair and got rewarded with a one way ticket out of the arena. The aftermath has seen Mark Bland go back into training with warnings from UFC former Champions to Ruddick that Bland will knock him out. TNT Keny G responded on May 31 by taking over the AWR Radio program while Bland attended to his family for the day. What will happen in this feud? Will Bland be able to topple the giant or will he be exposed as the fraud many thinks that he is. Whatever the end results the year of 2009 looks to be anything but “bland”.

Danny Daniels defeats the Mississippi Madman for the PWN Title. (Photo Credit: Brian Kelley)
Mississippi Madman was on a roll as the PWN Champion last month he won a huge Title vs. Hair match against Marek Brave. The Madman looked unstoppable going into the his title defense against the talented Danny Daniels. Daniels would stop at NOTHING and took it to the big man. Outside the ring they fought and up the bleachers and throughout the building. The Madman look to turn the momentum, but with a little distraction from a masked man Daniels was able to put the Madman through a table and get the one two three.

3XWrestling (3XW) and Missouri Wrestling Revival (MWR) have teamed up to bring pro wrestling fans in the Midwest something to be proud of. As part of 3XW’s “BAM-O-Ween” on October 17, 2008 in Des Moines, IA at inPlay, MWR is sponsoring a match as part of the “MWR Midwest Best Series” for the 3XW Pure Championship between two of the best wrestlers that the MWR coverage area has to offer.
The MWR “Midwest Best” match alone offers a glimpse into the future of professional wrestling. 3XW Pure Champion Tyler Cook defends his newly acquired belt against Shane Hollister, one of the fastest rising stars in the Midwest! 3XW management contacted MWR with the possible match, and MWR Owner-Editor Josh Ray was so excited by it that he wanted to help make it happen!
As part of this sure-fire crowd pleasing card, 3XW Heavyweight Champion “Delicious” Devin Carter defends his title against a man who was once closer than a brother, Casanova, the former 3XW Cruiserweight Champ. Since Carter won heavyweight championship gold this summer, Casanova has turned his back on him. Two straight 3XW events have featured Carter on the receiving end of a Casanova attack. Now they settle their differences in the middle of a 3XW ring!
One-half of the Northstar Express, the Midwest’s premiere tag team and longest reigning 3XW Tag Team Champions, faces one-half of the Gentlemen’s Club, the current 3XW Tag Team Champions, when Ryan Cruz squares off against Mark Sterling! Sterling is no stranger to singles matches as a former 3XW Pure Champion, but he’s in the opposing corner from a tag team specialist who impressed many at 3XW’s “Clobberpalooza Classic” when he faired well in a two-on-one handicap match against the Gentlemen’s Club. The Northstar Express undoubtedly have a claim as the number one contenders to the 3XW Tag Team Championships, but a Ryan Cruz victory could raise his stock as a solo wrestling star. Mark Sterling will be his typical ruthless and brutal self to stop Cruz dead in his tracks.
It’s only 3XW’s second female wrestling match of 2008, but it is one for all of Iowa to pay attention to as Malia Hosaka, a star in WWE, WCW, ECW, and now SHIMMER, takes on Ring of Honor’s beautiful-but-dangerous Allison Wonderland. A match with these two is sure to please, but it is anyone’s guess as to who will emerge victorious. This is a must-see match!
If you are still looking for reasons to go to 3XW’s “BAM-O-Ween”, look no further than this awsome list of wrestlers who are scheduled to be in action:
“The Anarchist” Arik Cannon
Maddog McDowell
Mike Sydal
3XW Cruiserweight Champion “The Rockstar” Jimmy Rockwell
“The Rebel” Jeremy Wyatt
Arya Daivari
Ryan Slade
Zach Thompson
Aaron Masterson-Slade
Ricky Kwong Krotch
