The Yoga Monster Mike Sydal Reigns Supreme at High Risk Wrestling

Posted by flairwhoooooo on April 26, 2016

4

In an historic night of pro wrestling, fans in Warsaw, Missouri got to witness the crowning of a brand new High Risk Wrestling Champion after Mike Sydal showcased why he is one of the top stars in the country in back to back matches.

Sydal had earned a semi-final match by defeating upstart Paco in March to face the infamous Tyler Copeland. Copeland proved why he was a man to be watching in 2016 as he took it to the Sydal from start to finish, but it would not be enough on this evening.

In the march quarterfinal battle Elvis Aliaga continued his path to the topping the Math Magician. In the semifinals the youth of Aliaga was tested against the rugged Tony Kozina. Aliaga the 2014 MWR Future Star award recipient was cocky throughout as he took some punishing blows from Kozina, but would prevail to move in the finals.

In the tournament finals Aliaga showed no fear as he pounded on Sydal as he taunted the HRW fans. Sydal would withstand the onslaught to find an opening to hit the moonsault to a huge roar from the crowd to once again become a champion in the MWR coverage area.

HRW June 25th at the Warsaw Community Center in Warsaw, but be sure to check out MWR in the future for a recap of an event that saw a wild grudge match between Mike Outlaw and Justin D’air as well as the first time ever match up between the 2015 Tag Team of the Year, High Level Enterprise and the HRW Tag Team Champs the Riegel Twins.

A High Risk Show Pays off in Warsaw

On February 27, 2016 High Risk Wrestling, a St. Louis mainstay since 2014, brought their brand of wrestling to the small town of Warsaw, Mo. Frank Thurman, the owner of High Risk Wrestling, recently decided to move his shows from the St. Louis area to Warsaw.

The show was highlighted with the first round of a tournament to decide who the new High Risk Heavyweight Champion was going to be after Blake Belakis relinquished the title shortly before the move.

In the first match of the tournament we saw “The Yoga Monster” Mike Sydal pick up an impressive victory over Paco.

The two high flyers put on an amazing match to open the show and really got the crowd of over a hundred people into the show from the start.

The show wasn’t just about the tournament though, The Magic Man  introduced the crowd to a special attraction.

 photo 71_zps58suy8cb.jpg

All the way from Japan, Kiyoshi Shizaka made his debut with the Magic Man issuing an open challenge on his behalf. As fast as his Monster fueled legs could carry him John E. Rock was in the ring and hyped for the challenge.

 photo 121_zpsj8jbbac2.jpg

In an impressive display of aerial maneuvers and super quick feet Shizaka proved to be a little too much for the crowd favorite, and beat Rock with a backslide pin. Showing his respect to the better man that night Rock bowed to his opponent before exiting the ring.

The theme of the night seemed to be sportsmanship and respect for one’s opponent up to that point in the night, but when Tyler Copeland extended his hand to Jack Gamble in the next quarter final match for the High Risk Championship bout, Gamble was treated to a boot to the gut for his trouble.

 photo 151_zpsyvet47hw.jpg

 photo 162_zpstp6aat2t.jpg

Gamble shook it off and went to work on Copeland. The two men had a great back and forth match with multiple two counts, but Copeland decided Gamble came to close one too many times. With a quick low blow while the ref’s back was turned Copeland rolled up Gamble for the win.

 photo 174_zpswupajwcs.jpg

Next up the ultra-charismatic bad guy Elvis Aliaga took on The Math-Magician in the third quarter final match in the tournament.

 photo 217_zpsfadx159g.jpg

Elvis tried to confuse his opponent before the match even started with some impossible math problems, but they proved to be no problem for the Magician. Unfortunately, Aliaga himself proved to be a problem as he pinned him 1-2-3 to advance to the next round of the tournament.

The final match in the tournament that night saw two veterans, Tony Kozina and Jeremy Wyatt, in a one on one match that was easily main event material. As the two battled back and forth in the ring, “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton took an interest in the match and came out to ringside to observe. Eaton’s distractions kept Wyatt off his game just enough for Kozina to pick up the win and advance to the next round in the tournament.

 photo 328_zpsssz2qnyz.jpg

 photo 322_zpsnc4i1gzv.jpg

Obviously unhappy with the result of the match, Wyatt confronted the legend which quickly escalated from verbal confrontation to Wyatt laying Eaton out with a punch to the jaw. With all four matches in the tournament in the books we will see Mike Sydal, Tyler Copeland, Elvis Aliaga, and Tony Kozina advance to the semi-final round on April 23rd to decide who the next High Risk Champion will be.

The newly coined MWR Missouri Championship was on the line next as champion Ricky Cruz defended his title against Brandon Aarons and his manager Garrett “Freakin” Williams.

 photo 392_zpssdyqejqr.jpg

 photo HRWFEBLIGHT-411_zpsleh6wa8c.jpg

 photo 418_zpsklnjlleh.jpg

After much primping and preening by Aarons the match finally got underway. In a spectacular display of power and agility Cruz seemed to have Aarons number at every turn. Even with the constant interference of manager Williams, including choking the champion in the bottom rope and a jab to the throat from Aaron’s brush, Cruz came out on top retaining the coveted Missouri Title.

 photo 425_zpsi0lditqe.jpg

The main event of the night was for High Risk Wrestling Tag Team Titles. Champions Mike Outlaw and Justin D’air took on the up and coming Riegel Twins to see who the best tag team in High Risk Wrestling was. Both teams were firing on all eight cylinders that night as they threw everything they had at each other. The Riegel Twins, who are relatively new to the wrestling scene, already have an impressive collection of tandem moves in their arsenal had their hands full with the champion duo of Outlaw & D’air.

 photo 498_zpsx5qjapyw.jpg

 photo 501_zpsm2kqtc2j.jpg

 photo 527_zpsm0izgtnf.jpg

In an impressive display from both teams they battled back and forth and showed the crowd exactly why they all deserved to be in that championship match. With D’air on the shoulders of Logan, Sterling climbed to the top rope and delivered a devastating flying clothesline that put D’air down for the three count winning them their first tag team title victory in High Risk Wrestling.

After the match all four men shook hands in a show of respect even though a dejected Mike Outlaw was visibly upset about the loss of his belt.  Unfortunately, after hands were shook all around and the Riegels left the ring

 photo 533_zpsdf9q246i.jpg

 photo 536_zpsymvnxwsp.jpg

Outlaw, who was becoming more visibly upset as the celebration went on, took out his frustration on his partner D’air. Taking three referees and the Riegel Twins to pull him off the prone D’air, Outlaw left the ring only to be met by Bobby Eaton. For a second we prepared for a confrontation, but were surprised when Eaton simply raised his hand and nodded in approval to end the show.

With great stories told more through wrestling than talking, new wrestlers with different styles most haven’t seen before, diverse highly entertaining performers, and an overall family friendly atmosphere High Risk Wrestling really delivered for its audience. If this show is any indicator of the product Frank Thurman will continue to build on, his brand of wrestling is one we can expect many great shows from in the future. There is no doubt Warsaw Missouri has a new asset in their town.

Lord Goldie (WWE’S GoldDust) comes to StricktlyNsane ProWrestling to make Tony Kozina pay on November 2nd!

Posted by flairwhoooooo on October 22, 2013

 photo Stri_zpscea0e459.jpg

StricktlyNsane ProWrestling presents SHATTERED DREAMS and BROKEN bones on November 2nd in Crossville, Illinois, A night of action featuring an all-star cast including the former MWR Tag Team of the Year and current StricktlyNsane ProWrestling tag team champions the Hooligans taking on JCW Champ 2 Tuff Tony and MADMAN Pondo, “Crazy” Mary Dobson fresh off her world tour of England and Japan goes one on one against Jordynn Grace and “The Man of Steel” Daniel Eads will challenge for the Heavyweight Championship against JP Lightning.

Believe it or not, that is not all!

Pro Wrestling’s number one hated wrestler in world, Tony Kozina is now the hunted. Long known as a man that can wrestle with the best of them, the former NWA Junior Heavyweight Champion and trainer of ROH great Davey Richards has only became bitter and meaner with each passing day.

StricktlyNsane ProWrestling fans have been furious at Kozina .

During 2013, Kozina has told anyone that would listen that he is the man and that no one there can hang with him in the squared circle. He was quick to use underhanded tactics to defeat popular 2 Tuff Tony much to the dismay of the fans.

It would look as if Kozina would meet his match when he went one on one against former WWE Superstar Eugene, but once again he would cheat to win sending everyone from the front to the back into a fit as he only became more obnoxious than ever.

If the fans thought that had reached their peak of being angry that were sadly mistaken. At the last show Kozina felt that he was not being respected when the promoter matched him up against a man that MWR considers to be one of the Midwest top young wrestle today, Jake Parnell. Kozina would make Parnell pay when he beat him mercilessly while letting everyone know at the same time that no one can stop him.

That may change in less than two weeks when a man that is a master of head games, Lord Goldie (WWE’S GoldDust) makes his way to StricktlyNsane ProWrestling to teach Kozina a lesson on respect.

Will Tony Kozina be able to outsmart Lord Goldie or will Tony Kozina feel the curtain fall once and for all?

 photo sins_zps601c7313.jpg

Tony Kozina was the special quest on Mark Blands show The Q SHOW and states that he will present Golddust with a Tony Award…that and much more from wrestlings most hated man.

Editor’s note: The thoughts and views that are stated on the Q SHOW do not necessary reflect the views or opinions of anyone here at MWR. Explicit material as well.

Episode 141 – Rare Gold

KOZ IS BACK! And he has a little on his plate to talk about regarding an upcoming match with a new Tag Team Champion from a little organization called WWE.

Then its rant time. Coming off his rant from the other video series he does with DJ C-Note in the STL area for HOT 104, Mark has a serious issue with Black culture and their gullibility on certain things, especially the BET awards shows that are put out 3-4 times a year. And an issue he has with Panera Bread/St. Louis Bread Company for gouging people on their food prices.

The Daily show released a comedic video regarding Tea Party/Extreme GOP members and how they are destroying the new re-opened federal government over the budget demands that shut it down. Very interesting and funny look at truly out there some people on the right of the aisle happen to be.
Plus BNN with Producer Bobby discussing good ole castration and letter from the listener or two.

Another action packed episode for your approval!

Enjoy!

Tony Kozina & the Ring of Honor World Champion Davey Richards speak out about the NWA Junior Championship, Craig Classic, AAPW, girls on Kozinas phone and NWA Supreme in October in Mattoon.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on August 16, 2011

This Sunday, I drove five hours to be in Mattoon Illinois to cover the exciting NWA Supreme/Pro Wrestling Prestige show.

The great day of action featured Ring of Honor World Champion Davey Richards, the man he defeated for the belt Eddie Edwards, the two time former NWA Junior Champion of the World Tony Kozina, Jimmy Jacobs, El Generico, the 2010 MWR Wrestler of the Year Mike Sydal and rising ROH star Kyle O’Rielly as they mixed it up with the Midwest champions Brandon Espinosa, Oliver Cain and the powerhouse Bear St Pierre.

The talent was off the roof in Mattoon Illinois and when the dust settled from the Vicious kicks from Richards and the deathly chops of Edwards I was able to catch up with the former NWA Junior Heavyweight Champion Tony Kozina to get his thoughts on his quest to regain the title for a third time.

Let’s hear from the man Tony Kozina now….

What an interview that was, as the Champion of the World Davey Richards stated he will be at ALL American Pro Wrestling for a special TV Taping.

Davey Richards is worth the drive and price alone but you will also get to see the stars of ALL American Pro Wrestling including AAPW Champion Edmund McGguire, Shane Rich, Curly, “The Golden Boy” Greg Anthony, Carnage and many more.

So mark your calendar for this special Sunday show on August 28th doors open at 1 pm and a 2 o’clock start with ticket prices for a measly $10.00 and 12 and under only $6.00 for your chance to see Richards in action.

Photobucket

Then do not forget as Tony Kozina will take on Craig Classic on October 22 in Mattoon Illinois, I have spoken to NWA Promoter David Cavazos who states that this heated match is still set to take place.

NWA Board of Directors grant Tony Kozina a shot at Craig Classic’s NWA World Junior Heavyweight Title

Posted by flairwhoooooo on June 6, 2011

National Wrestling Alliance- Midwest
St.Louis, MO.

Two days after a May 28th victory in Streator, IL. over Shank Barzini and Jimmy Karryt to become number one contender to the NWA Midwest X Championship, currently held by Oliver Cain, Tony Kozina got the news he had been waiting for since February.

The NWA Board Of Directors had reviewed his appeal of the Feb. 4-5 weekend and granted him another match against NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion, Craig Classic.

“In regards to the disputed dates of Feb. 4th and Feb. 5th, the NWA Board Of Directors finds the following.

DISPUTE OF FEB. 4th: Craig Classic misses flight due to weather. Planned championship match between Tony Kozina and Craig Classic is canceled.

CONCLUSION: Contract states that the terms of this agreement are void in the event of an “act of God”. Mr. Classic was delayed in New Jersey on Feb. 4th, due to weather. Therefore, on grounds of “act of God” this rematch request is denied.

DISPUTE OF FEB. 5th: Kozina is pinned, but has foot visibly on ropes. Referee doesn’t see this and counts to three. Referee is made aware of the situation by Kozina, but stands by his decision, and awards the match to Craig Classic via pinfall.

CONCLUSION: After reviewing the footage, the claims are found valid, therefore the NWA Board Of Directors grant a championship rematch of Tony Kozina and Craig Classic for the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship.”

When asked about the Midwest X title, Kozina politely answered “Let me say that I’ve had my eye on the NWA Midwest X title since I moved to St.Louis. But it was always as a stepping stone to getting the World Junior title back. That’s been my goal from day one. I’m certain Oliver Cain has no shortage of hungry contenders. I’m going to start making the calls to secure a date and a city for the world title match and then it’s back to training harder than ever before, so there’s no point in looking at the X title right now.”

Tony Kozina’s not through with NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion Craig Classic.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on March 1, 2011

National Wrestling Alliance
-STREATOR, IL.

When the referee’s hand slapped the mat for the third time, NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion, Craig Classic smiled, knowing that this victory secured his trip to Japan for Zero-One for their huge upcoming show. The problem in Streator, IL. that night was that the referee failed to notice Tony Kozina’s foot on the rope.

“That match did seem to end abruptly”, said Trevor Millmaker, who watched from the second row with his sons in attendance.

After the bout, Craig Classic showered, dressed, and sped away to the airport without saying a word. Kozina, on the other hand, answered some questions from the internet and newspaper reporter on hand.

“Part of me is screaming inside as to who this ref is, and how much experience he has. And then I think, well.. it just wouldn’t have gone down that way had I simply lifted my shoulder. I wasn’t out. I was trying to conserve energy. The rope was there and hey- you throw your foot over the rope to break count and relax for a second. Never did it occur to me that the referee might not see it!”

What was to be two title shots for Kozina, turned into one shot, which ended in controversy. The night before, in Waukesha, WI., Kozina found himself in a three-way dance to determine a number one contender after it was announced that the Champion was delayed at a New Jersey airport due to the winter storm blanketing the country.

“It’s always something”, said Kozina. “I had the promoter calling me earlier in the week, saying the local wrestlers, and other midwest wrestlers were complaining because they felt they deserved the shot. Then Classic is delayed, which was true. It happens. But then I get this outcome which, to me, is unacceptable.”

When asked about his next step for a rematch with Classic, the 14 year veteran didn’t miss a beat. “I had all three NWA Midwest representatives together as soon as I came back from the ring. This match was not only about that NWA title, but a Japanese tour as well, so there was a lot at stake tonight. Bob Trobich (Executive Director, National Wrestling Alliance) will get my appeal for a rematch, plus, I was granted two title matches to begin with, so I’m shooting for two more matches with whoever the Champion is.”

As of this writing, there has been no answers regarding any future NWA title matches for Tony Kozina. Craig Classic is scheduled to take the NWA World Jr. Heavyweight title to Japan, and Puerto Rico, before returning to the U.S. in late April. For fans who witnessed the events in Streator, IL., the questions is, will it take place in the midwest?

Only time will tell.
