“The Tokyo Monster” Kahagas (w/ Travis Cook) won a triple threat cage match with Ron Powers and Flash Flanagan(C) to win the Classic Title. Powers had control of the match and dropped Kahagas with a released German suplex, but Kahagas landed in position to drape an arm over the fallen and bloody Flanagan for the three-count (7:14). Afterwards, Flanagan demanded to get the first shot at the new champion in January.

A Perfect Night for MWR at SICW – Dubray Tallman Says Yes

Posted by flairwhoooooo on October 25, 2015

 photo 12 1_zpsaoq4xc2b.jpg

Brian on his knees proposing with the “good guys” from SICW ,Brent Meyers, WWE Hall of Fame wrestler Cowboy Bob Orton, and “Old School” Chaz Wesson showing their approval with a thumbs up for the proposal as Dubray Tallman accepts the ring while the “bad guys” “The Tokyo Monster” Kahagas, Wyldefyre, Curtis Wylde and SICW Champion Flash Flanagan shows their disapproval. Special edit to Derek Sharpe who unfortunately had to take out Ron Powers on the good side because the room was not big enough….

Missouri Wrestling Revival has had the pleasure to support pro wrestling in the Midwest for the past 8 years by covering the biggest events, awesome matches and moments in hundreds of events. During that time we have provided a home for fans to come to so that they are aware of where to be and why, with over 4,000 posts and thousands upon thousands of photos of the young wrestlers in action looking to live their dream as a wrestling superstar.

While MWR has been blessed to have the support of promoters and wrestlers around the country, and have our very own Yearbooks on Amazon.com and MWR T-shirts sold around the world on ProwrestlingTees, our biggest achievement most definitely has been the positive relationship with the wrestling community and the fans around the country.

They say that behind every good man is a good woman. For myself that has been Dubray Tallman. I had met her over 11 years ago and during that time I wish that I could say that it has been easy, but alas we have had highs and lows that have been self-inflicted at times. Yet, there is no doubt that there has been no women that I have loved as much as I have loved her.

As we were dating early on, I took her to see Harley Race’s World League Wrestling and Kansas’s Central States Wrestling. At the events we would build a foundation of friends in and out of the ring that we still share to this day. Our life would change forever on a day that my friend Josh Ray, called to ask me if I wanted to contribute to a website called Missouri Wrestling Revival. Early on it was Josh, myself and a talented young writer still in High School from St. Louis named Kari Williams who hoped to present a professional positive view of the local wrestling scene in the Midwest.

Years would pass and both Josh and Kari would go on to bigger and better things in life, but Dubray and I would travel to over 40 events a year in Missouri, Kansas, Illinois and Iowa. The amount of miles, money and time to do this site has taken up a huge amount of the past decade for the two of us. Dubray has never been a wrestling fan, but has always been there to support my love for pro wrestling.

So when I decided that I should ask my true love to marry me, I wanted to do something special that she would remember for the rest of her life like the best anniversary gifts. One of my most vivid memories growing up was Macho Man Randy Savage proposing marrying Miss Elizabeth, and I wanted to provide Dubray a moment where she was the main attraction for our biggest moment to date.

The decision was where to have the big moment. First and foremost, Kansas City has always been like my first home as that is where we went for over a year to start to check out the stars of CSW. Today, wrestling is even bigger and better there as Metro Pro Wrestling is the place to be in Kansas City every other month. The Turner Rec Center is always packed with close to 400-to 500 fans that we are very close to. The promotionis also the  home to my close friend and the Artist of Champions Rob Schamberger while having  a great mixture of talent that we have supported in several promotions. So Kansas City would have been a great choice.

During the past couple of years our finances have been depleting as disappointments with jobs and our four kids going to college that our visits to Iowa has dwindled considerable. Still every time that we have made our way to the beautiful state of Iowa, it has been a true pleasure as the wrestling has been fun and the people are so awesome. We have seen that during the 2013 3XW Iowa Latino festival and this years Jeff Thompson Memorial event. I have long considered Iowa fan favorite Mark McDowell to be one of my best friends and it would be a pleasure to have done it at either PWP or 3XW.

Yet, St. Louis was the one place that I felt that it would be the perfect place to propose to Dubray  due to the fact that it was the home of the majority of the promotions that we cover. It would allow a chance for all of our friends and fans of SICW, PWCS, WLW, Dynamo Pro Wrestling, New Breed Wrestling,  MMWA,PWE, St. Louis Anarchy, Proving Ground Pro  and High Risk Wrestling to make the trip to see put my heart on the line.

I decided that the SICW’s home of East Carondelet, Illinois would be the perfect place to do so as the the Community Center is always packed with fans that have become friends for years, and is the home of  St. Louis’s only TV tapping SICW Wrestling Explosion. Add on the fact that promoter Herb Simmons and his wife Mickey have been very close friends and the ring announcer/commentator Dr. Drew was a friend of ours long before he earned a career in the sport, I had faith that they would do what they could to make it go as smooth as possible.

On the way home from the historic WLW Ric Flair/WWE/NOAH/NEW JAPAN camp event in Troy, Missouri in August I made the call to ask Herb if it was possible that I would be allowed to propose to Dubray in the ring in the near future. My idea was to have Herb announce that he was going to present us with an “award” to thank us for our support of pro wrestling in the Midwest. Beings that she was included in the announcement from Herb she would be required to be in attendance that night. A quick note, Dr. Drew would cement that thought in her head in a positive light when he announced during their TV show that the “Queen of MWR” Dubray and I would be there to accept the award.

Herb asked me if I would like to do it at the October event as it was going to be a huge night with the St. Louis Wrestling Hall of Fame. I was concerned that we would be trying to take away the focus of the Hall of Fame induction, to which Herb stated that he believed that it would only add to the occasion. So with his blessing and help the day was set for the big announcement.

I have never been good on the mic, so it has always been a good that I have been working behind the scenes through the website and photos. When it was time to put my heart on the line, Herb was a 100 percent right, the time could not have been any better. Thanks to the huge night of honoring Bill Apter and Eddie Smith into the Hall of Fame, there was many friends in the building that may not have been there otherwise as friends came from Minnesota , Iowa and beyond.

During the week I had watched some proposals online to help me find the right words and actions to make her moment as special as possible. With time on my hands I also watched some proposal fails that were funny, but a possibility for us to be included if I was to total mess It up.

Before I knew it, we were in the ring accepting our award, and as we had planned Herb and Drew encouraged Dubray to show off our new plaque to the fans as I prepared to get on my knees to ask the biggest question of our life. The moment was a blur, but I will forever remember the huge pop from the crowd as she said yes. Throughout the night, friends and people I did not know were all smiles as they congratulated us on the big moment. Looking back I know in my heart that it was a huge success as among those that were happy for us, there were many young kids around the age of 7-15 that stopped me to congratulate me on doing it in the ring, they thought it was so cool. Kids are as honest as they come and anytime you can impress them (and not bore them lol) on a night filled with hard hitting wrestling action then you know it was a huge success.

Thank you to Promoter Herb Simmons and SICW for allowing us to have our moment in the ring and for all the boys and girls in the locker room who were more than happy to take a proposal photo for fun.

As always thank you to all of the fans and our friends for their sincere support and we look forward to seeing you in 2015.

The NWA National Champion Kahagas is outraged that he is not in the vacated NWA World tournament this Friday!!

Posted by flairwhoooooo on October 31, 2012

Photos and posters courtesy of Kahagas’s facebook page.

By Brian Kelley

In less than three days the NWA have set the wheels in motion to decide just who is the next NWA World Heavyweight Champion in Clayton, NJ at the Clayton High School for NWA DAWG (Dangerous Adrenaline Wrestling Gladiators).

Some of the very best young lions will be in action that night including former NWA National Champion Chance Prophet, who currently holds the NWA Ring Warriors Bahamas Championship, Damien Wayne the  current NWA DAWG Champion, the NWA Smoky Mountain Champion, Jason “The Gift” Kincaid and rising star The “Greek God” Papadon ranked 223 in this year’s annual PWI 500.

Photobucket

One common denominator between yesterday’s NWA and today’s board of directors is the fear of the man known as the Tokyo Monster, Kahagas. Just a little over a year ago during a tournament to crown a new NWA Junior Champion the board look the other way as Kahagas sent word to anyone that would listen that he wanted to be involved in that tournament.

In that tournament Kevin Dougles would go on to defeat Chase Owens in Charlotte, NC on October 7th,2011. Meanwhile The NWA would offer up Chance Prophet to Kahagas with the thought that the 13 month reigning NWA National Champion Prophet would be able to shut him at NWA Battle of the Belts on MARCH 29,2012 for NWA Ring Warriors.

Photobucket

When the smoke cleared Kahagas was not only standing but holding the belt up high for the NWA to see as Prphet laid battered and beaten . Since that time Prophet , Kevin Dougles and even the last NWA World Champion Adam Pearce have all been defeated by Kahagas as he has toured the country defending the belts from Woonsocket, Rhode Island , Nassau, Bahama, Ft. Lauderdale FL, Kansas City, KS and Dallas ,Texas to name just a few.

The rich history of the NWA National title should not be dismissed as men like Jack Brisco, Masked Superstar, Wahoo McDaniel and Dusty Rhodes have all worn the title. In fact, Kahagas has faced 35 former NWA World,  Tag or  NWA Junior Champions in the past including Dusty Rhodes, Adam Pearce, Blue Demon, Jason Rumble, Hector Guerrero, the Headbangers and many more.

So that leads with the question and anger from the mind of pro wrestling’s fiercest striker Kahagas.

“Why is he not invited to the Wrath of Champions to get his hands on the coveted title?

Photobucket

Photobucket

Is NWA DAWG running and hiding while having the Tokyo Monster defend his belt in Texas on back to back nights against some poor soul who does not know what he has gotten himself into?

Always beware of the Tokyo Monster!

The great crew from talkNWA took the time to talk to TNT Keny G regarding the most excitement in the NWA since Ric Flair held the belt. This interview was done a couple of days after “The Tokyo Monster” Kahagas defeating Chance Prophet for the NWA National title at the Battle of the Belts in Florida at NWA Ring Warriors.

Now the NWA National Champion Kahagas has momentum on his side as this Friday in Glen Carbon, Illinois when he meets the NWA Champion of the World Adam Pearce as champion takes on champion.

Take the time to listen in on TNT Keny G and the talkNWA radio as they give the low down of the NWA from the Midwest and around the world.

“Babyface” Tony Cortez and NWA World Champion Adam Pearce have a shootout at Magnum Pro Wrestling!

Posted by flairwhoooooo on February 9, 2012

By Brian Kelley

Less than 24 hours after Adam Pearce survived an onslaught from “The Belt Collector” Jeremy Wyatt at 3XWrestling in Des Moines, the NWA Worlds Champion made his way to Council Bluffs, Iowa for Magnum Pro Wrestling.

His opponent was hometown favorite “Babyface “ Tony Cortez, a man who has been in battles with many of the best in the Midwest. Cortez’s moment that he has been waiting for his whole life had come to that very moment on January 28th, the chance to prove that he was among the very best in the world.

From the moment the doors open you could feel the electricity spark from wall to wall, with the ring being the spark that got it going. World titles opportunity chances come to wrestlers very few if ever in a wrestler’s career.

In the past Cortez has succeeded and survived an epic war games steel cage match, defeated former friend Jayden Draigo, captured wins against the hottest stars of wrestling like Mike Sydal and “The Anarchist” Arik Cannon.

Champions have had to beware of the feisty Cortez as he has defeated Hype Gotti and Golden Boy” Vic Victory thus making him the only man to be a two time PWP Champion. Cortez has also won the PWP tag team championship with the before mentioned Gottie (Simply the Best) in a classic as MWR sponsored the PWP Tag team title match between the Northstar Express (Darin Corbin and Ryan Cruz) on November 21st, 2008.

As we walked into the building that night, we had to wonder just how could Cortez keep up with the much favored NWA Worlds Champion Adam Pearce?

No doubt the Magnum Pro Wrestling fans were on Cortez’s side. As he entered the ring, the building exploded with cheers. I could see nor feel any doubt from the Magnum pro wrestling’s fans that Cortez was the underdog on this night.

When the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion came to the ring with his “ten pounds of gold” he was still all smiles but you could tell that the night before’s defense against Wyatt had him a little bit more focused than normal .

Photobucket

Pearce is a master strategist and agitator from the moment his music hits till the final bell ring. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

After studying hours of tapes of Pearce, I have come to conclusion that no wrestler enjoys taunting the crowd more than Adam Pearce, at first I thought it was a tactic to get under his opponents skin. I am now convinced that just like his rival from the night before Wyatt that he thoroughly enjoys seeing them in total anger. I was beginning to wonder if I would need protection to take photos at ringside the emotions were so hot from the fans in the front row.

Photobucket

“Babyface” Tony Cortez was up to the challenge of meeting the Worlds Champion. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

Before I knew it the action was fast and furious as Cortez strategy was to move forward. From the get go it looked as if he had the right plan as Pearce was reeling from the quickness of the challenger. Like any smart champion Pearce found a way to slow down the momentum of Cortez and the fans mood by grabbing hold of him then taking him down with a headlock.

Photobucket

To slow down Cortez, Pearce brought him to the mat. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

Cortez would fight to get back up once again hitting a belly to back suplex that seemed to have given the challenger the chance to get the pinfall. Any other man that may have been enough but Pearce did not become a 4 –time NWA’S World Champion by not taking a beating. Just as the ref was to hit the 3 count, Pearce’s shoulders came off the mat, keeping the Champion still alive in the match.

Photobucket

Knowing that this was his moment to shine, Cortez pulled out all the stops. Surprisingly the fans didn’t mind the least. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

Back and forth they went, as Cortez turned his back, Pearce rolled him up but Cortez was able to kick out, moments later it was the challenger using his feet on the ropes for extra leverage but Pearce was still too strong.

Photobucket

A headbutt from Pearce dropped Cortez. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

One mistake against Pearce and many of men are done for the night, as was the case with Cortez, when Pearce locked in his pildriver, there was no escape for the hometown favorite.

Photobucket

Though Cortez fought with all his might, the champion was able to hit his patented piledriver. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

Unlike many wrestlers who try to use the move but are unable to deliver it with enough force to get a win , Pearce knows what he is doing and the crushing blow sent Cortez crashing head first into the mat.

Three seconds later, the NWA World Champion Adam Pearce retained his championship and survived the Terror of the Midwest tour weekend against both Jeremy Wyatt and Tony Cortez.

Photobucket

Pearce remains the NWA World Champion. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

The cocky grin was still there on the champ , his eyes were glazed a bit. You could tell he now knew that the Midwest is in fact the “Danger Zone” for his title. Men like Tony Cortez, Jeremy Wyatt, Michael Strider and Kahagas all have their sights set on “Scrap Iron” Adam Pearce.

Magnum Pro Wrestling returns next Saturday!!

Breaking news: Has NWA’S Howard T Brody and Larry Brannon signing of the NWA National Heavyweight Champion Chance Prophet vs. the Tokyo Monster Kahagas put the NWA on the map again?

Posted by flairwhoooooo on December 14, 2011

By Brian Kelley- MWR Owner and Editor

Photobucket

Hot news tonight coming in from Fort Lauderdale, Florida as the former High Voltage Wrestling Champion Kahagas tore the roof down in Fort Lauderdale, Fla against the NWA National Heavyweight Champion Chance Prophet for NWA Ring Warriors in a title match.

Photobucket

In the house was the former National Wrestling Alliance President Howard T. Brody, and former 3 time NWA World Tag Team Champion and now Chief Operations Officer Larry Brannon  were on hand for what one MWR correspondent in Florida called the most brutal match in the NWA since the days of Harley Race and Ric Flair, Bruiser Brody and Abdullah just to name a few.

The night was filled with Superstars as the NWA World Tag Team Champions, the Dark City Fight Club (Jon Davis and Kory Chavis), were defended their titles against two members of pro wrestling’s most heralded and often controversial stables, Degeneration X, in “Bad Ass” Billy Gunn and “X-Pac” Sean Waltman.

Photobucket

The Original Diva” Sunny” made her way to NWA Ring Warriors, as was the “Midwest Sweetheart” herself Santana G. Sunny gave the highest of compliments when she stated that Santana G was the top female talent not signed by the WWE today.

Photobucket

Santana G has worked hard to earn the respect of some of the best in the business have taken notice. From the best in the business such as MsChif, Scott Hall, X-Pac, to the greatest Diva of them all Sunny. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

Yet, at the end of the night all the fans could talk about was the brutal NWA National Heavyweight title match between the two warriors that went at it with neither of them backing down. Inside the ring Kahagas and Chance Prophet delivered chops and punches that echoed throughout the building . Outside the ring, it would only get uglier as both men would be disqualified as they went at each other with a vengeance.

Our sources state that both men were far from calling it done on this night, but they will have to wait another day to settle the score to see who truly is the best man.

Earlier this fall we saw the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Adam Pearce electrify the crowd at Metro Pro Wrestling in Kansas City against Michael Strider.

With HVW promoter TNT Keny G scouting out talent in Florida this week, MWR believes that the chances of the NWA National Heavyweight Champion Chance Prophet giving a rematch to Kahagas in the Midwest is very likely.

Should it happen at HVW, Dynamo Pro Wrestling or Metro Pro Wrestling it has the chance to be the match of the year in the Midwest in 2012.
