Stacey O’Brien becomes the first ever wrestler to be a two time MWR recipient in the singles category.

O’Brien returned in 2011 after an injury had sidelined her since 2009 with a mission to regain her spot as the women to beat in the Midwest.

To say that she is better than before would be an understatement as she has been touring the Midwest breaking young fans hearts and bringing fear in her opponents.

O’Brien has been on fire capturing wins against the likes of rising star Lucy Mendez to start the year at Metro Pro Wrestling.

In April, in Collinsville Illinois, High Voltage Wrestling presented a supershow with Larry Zbyszko and a special first time meeting between Santana G with special guest Dave Hebner as the referee . While Santana G looked to celebrate her homecoming back to the Midwest, it would be Stacey O’Brien to put an end to the party when she had her hand raised once again in a true classic battle of two of the best young talents in the sport.

During a memorable moment in hot month of July, Stacey O’Brien, turned the heat up even more as she had the men’s mouths drop as she came out in a sexy Metro Referee outfit to restore order in a match between Lucy Mendez and Miss Natural.

Back in action O’Brien would come back to St Louis the South Broadway Athletic Club for the MMWA and capture a victory from arch rival Mendez, though Mendez would even the score at SICW later in the year.

At NWA Dynamo wrestling on August 8th in Glen Carbon Illinois, Stacey O’Brien would take the NWA Midwest Women’s Champ MsChif to the test in a great battle that saw MsChif use her “Green Mist” to score a victory to retain her belt.

O’Brien and her arch rival Mendez would go at it all year in World League Wrestling around the Midwest. In Burlington, Iowa on September 18th the WLW Women’s title was declared vacant and it would be the Boston Bawler who would become a 3-time WLW Ladies Champion.

In October she took part in the WLW/WWE/NOAH week long training camp to improve her skills, to get noticed and to be the best that she can be.

There is no doubt that in 2010 pro wrestling in the Midwest missed the talents of Stacey O’Brien. Fans in the Midwest enjoy her while you can as she has the work ethic to make waves in Shimmer, Japan, TNA or even WWE in the near future.

We would like to congratulate Stacey O’Brien as the 2011 MWR Female Wrestler of the Year.

1st Runner Up- Lucy Mendez
2nd Runner up-MsChif
3rd Runner Up- The Great Cheyenne

Other wrestlers that receive votes Serenity, Melanie Cruise, Miss Natural

Past MWR Female Wrestlers of the Year.

Shocking news at 3XWrestling, moments after losing the 3XW title to the “IRON MAN” Mark Sterling, Jeremy Wyatt signed the contract to challenge the NWA World Champion Adam Pearce in what is  the biggest match in the career of “The Belt collector”!!

MWR fans may hate Jeremy Wyatt, the first ever MWR Wrestler of the Year but they know how good he is and have been begging for the NWA World Champion to give him a chance at the prestigious title.

So 2012 will start out with a dream match as there is no other place to be than 3XWrestling on January 27th, as “The Belt Collector” Jeremy Wyatt meets “Scrap Iron” Adam Pearce one on one.

Thanks to footage from 3XWrestling, let’s see how this match came to be.

The Kentucky Buffet consist of Alex Castle and Matt Cage, both of whom were members of two other tag teams in the Midwest. Cage with Neil Diamond Cutter as one half of “Counter Culture”, while Castle teamed up with Christian Rose as “Project Mayhem”.

Counter Culture and Project Mayhem would have moderate success in the Midwest, but together they would become 3 time IWAU Tag Team Champions. Their rise included victories over top flight talent, classic matches.

In February they lost a classic 60 man Iron Man tag Team match to arch rival tag team the Top Guns (Danny Cannon and Christian Rose) as the Guns got the edge with four falls to the KYB’s three.

They would bounce later in the year by beating Zero Gravity (Brett Gakiya and CJ Esparza) for the vacant IWAU Tag team titles. During the year they would be able to capture victories over such teams as Jimmy Jacobs & Zach Gowen, Arik Cannon & Darin Corbin, Akira Tozawa & Christian Rose, Christian Rose & Joey O’Riley, KC Karrington & Adam Rich as well as New Midwest Wrestling legends The Feature Presentation (Blake Steel and Eric Ruffington).

The Kentucky Buffett debuted at Dragon Gate USA against the tag team “The Scene” Caleb Konley and Scott Reed.

The KYB also hosts a weekly webshow entitled “All You Can Eat with The Kentucky Buffet“. Special guests have including Johnny Gargano, Colt Cabana, Arik Cannon, Darin Corbin, Akira Tozawa, El Generico and many other top stars in the wrestling business.

Recently, a friendly rivalry, has turned very bitter, very quickly and it will be interesting to see where the future of the 2011 MWR Tag Team of the Year leads them in 2012.

For now we would like to congratulate the Kentucky Buffet for being named the 2011 MWR Tag Team of the year.

1st Runner Up– Heroes for Hire- Zach Thompson and Jimmy Rockwell

3rd Runner Up – Attitude Inc- Guy Smith and Spencer Powers

Posted by flairwhoooooo on January 1, 2012

During the MWR years, there have been no doubts on the skills of Brandon Espinosa.

Yet, in 2011, Brandon Espinosa experienced a breakout year. He sought out better training at OVW in Louisville and is now featured regularly on OVW TV with other future WWE stars. He arguably wrestled more matches for more companies than anybody in the area- at least 100 per year. Espinosa was a key player not only in his hometown of St. Louis but around the country

In what may have been his biggest win to date , Espinosa won the Pro Wrestling Epic 8 tournament by defeating Ace Hawkins in round one, Evan Money in round two, then in an exciting final matchup shocked the Midwest when he defeated one of the very best in ROH Superstar Jimmy Jacobs.

Throughout the year he wrestled for All American Pro Wrestling, High Voltage Wrestling, Independent Hardcore Wrestling, IWA Unlimited, IWA Productions, NWA Supreme, Pro Wrestling Epic, Metro East Championship Wrestling, & MMWA-SICW in the MWR covering area for 2011, has also wrestled for New Midwest Wrestling & NWA Dynamo in the past. In 2011, held the MMWA Jr. Heavyweight Championship, MMWA Wild World of Wrestling TV Championship (current holder), Pro Wrestling Epic Heavyweight Championship (current holder), and IWAU Club Championship but also held the Pro Wrestling Prestige US & Heavyweight Championship and TIWF Cruiserweight Championship in Tennessee, plus at one point held 4 Championships at once.

He competed in the following tournaments in 2011 – NWA Midwest X-Division Championship, AIWF Krazy 8 in North Carolina, IHW St. Louis Invitational, and OVW #1 Contender Gauntlet, reached the Finals in the SICW Classic Championship and TIWF Cruiserweight Championship Gauntlet, and won the PWE Epic 8 and the first ever St. Louis Cable TV trophy by defeating David Osborne, Phil E. Blunt and Gary Jackson.

He would contend for the WLW title held by “The Prince” Jason Jones in his very first match with the company coming up just short when Jone’s manager threw salt in the eyes of Espinosa.

Espinosa had victories over nationally known talents such as Jimmy Jacobs, El Generico, Jay Lethal, and Mike Sydal.

In 2011, Espinosa wrestled in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Wisconsin, as well as in the past in Arkansas, and Kansas.

Espinosa also made an appearance on All Worked Up (Season 3 Episode 12) when taped at a ROH event in Ohio. Also is the trainer of MWR talent  and the 2011 PWI Rookie of the Year Ace Hawkins, as well as many others.

We are proud to announce that Brandon Espinosa as the 2011 MWR Wrestler of the Year.
