Eldon, Missouri– After another great year of learning for aspiring wrestlers at the annual wrestling camp led by the upcoming 2013 inductee to the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame Harley Race, Pro Wrestling NOAH and WWE representative Steven Regal.

The WLW Champion OTT was able to retain the title much to the chagrin to the Black Hand Warriors as he heads to Richmond, Missouri this Saturday Night to defend the title with special guest Lex Luger and great night of wrestling as Steve Regal and Ace Steel II lived up to the hype and much more.

The first big news coming from the 2012 camp is that the former WLW Champion Jason Jones will return to Japan’s Pro Wrestling Noah the first of 2013.

Jones moved to Eldon Missouri from North Carolina to train with the 8-time NWA Worlds Champion Harley Race to pursue his dream to be the best that he could be. This marks his second tour of Japan with Pro Wrestling NOAH, proving that his dedication is paying off.

During the week at the camp Jones was very instrumental in assisting the students in improving their skills, while teaching proper techniques and safety, first and foremost.
We are happy to say that in the past Jones has been a supporter and friend of MWR and we are thrilled to see him earn this tour for his hard work.

Look out in the near future for a sneak peak of the 2012 camp thanks to the hospitality of World League Wrestling and other top news coming out of the camp right here at Missouri Wrestling Revival.com, Your #1 source for pro wrestling news in the Midwest.

The Great Cheyenne looks to take over WLW and the Midwest in 2012.

Art contest of The Great Cheyenne and The Great Malaki won by Cheyenne Tallman

MWR fans have seen the Great Cheyenne wreck havoc in the past but in April she now sets her sights on the most prestigious women’s title in the MWR coverage area, Harley Race’s World League Wrestling Ladies champion Stacey O’Brien.

The two met at All American Pro Wrestling earlier this year as The Great Cheyenne meet O’Brien looked to end her winning streak at AAPW. Honestly, I was excited about how this match would go down. While I had fans come up to me and said that the match looked to be a struggle,

I was quick to reply to them that of course it was. First you have the 2-time MWR Wrestler of the Year Stacey O’Brien, though she is not huge in statue is trained by the great Harley Race. She is fundamentally sound and know how to use leverage and just when to explode at the right time to overwhelm her opponent.

On the other side of the ring is the demented powerhouse The Great Cheyenne. Though O’Brien has been in the ring with the likes of Miss Natural who is a powerhouse in her own right, Naturals offense is with a purpose. Meanwhile the Great Cheyenne is unpredictable and carries a rage that puts her opponent on the heels.

Photobucket

The first meeting between these two was a slobber knocker (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

That is what happened as the two when into a battle of chess on AAPW’S Collision. It was by no means pretty as O’Brien struggled with the force of Cheyenne, as the current MWR Female Wrestler of the Year O’Brien befuddled the girl that is the she devil of Hellfire Symphony with the skills taught to her from Race.

At the end of the night the clash of styles would have O’Brien remain undefeated in ALL American Pro Wrestling.

Now the stage is set for a rematch in less than a week at World League Wrestling as Stacey O’Brien will defend her title against The Great Cheyenne on back to back nights in Sedan, Kansas and Richmond, Missouri.

I am thrilled to see just in fact who has the advantage in this rematch. Has the AAPW set off a feud that will last throughout 2012 and escalate throughout WLW and AAPW respectfully as well as all over the Midwest?

Also on these cards will be WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Von Erich, that will be ringside as his sons Ross and Marshall will team up to take on Brian Breaker and the WLW Champion “The Prince” Jason Jones, plus all of your favorite WLW Stars.

Also in attendance will be one of the greatest wrestlers of ALL-TIME Harley Race.

Missouri Wrestling Revival first awards were given for 2008, as we looked to honor the men and women of the Midwest. To bring them exposure to the west and east coast as well as the fans of the Midwest.

The award for MWR Lifetime Achievement Award was a no-brainer as it would be the former 8-time NWA World Champion Harley Race. Race has traveled around the world bringing respectability to the sport of wrestling since his debut in 1960. While he won World titles, entertained fans as “King” Harley Race during the boom years of the 80’s at WWF (E) his biggest contributions could very well be outside of the ring. Race currently owns the wrestling school the Harley Race Academy as well as the wrestling promotion World League Wrestling. The school provides the proper training to be a pro wrestler and have produced stand out wrestlers such as Trevor Murdock, Matt Murphy, Wade Chism, Bull Schmitt, Joe Hennig, Keith Walker and current WWE Ref John Cone.

Just as important as the school for the aspiring wrestlers, WLW for over ten plus years has been able to raised over 250,000 thousand dollars for the families, communities and schools around the Midwest with wrestling fundraising shows.

He is a member of every prestigious and worthy Wrestling Hall of fame around the World and it was with great pleasure that we were to present Harley Race with a worthy MWR Lifetime Achievement plaque with a great illustration of the one of the worlds greatest wrestlers of all-time from artist Rob Schamberger.

Today’s WLW is filled with a great roster from the WLW Champ Jason Jones, Brian Breaker, Ryan Drago, Jeff Strong, Jack Gamble, Mark Sterling, Steve Fender ,Dustin Bozworth, Stacey O’Brien, Miss Natural just to name a few. So when you see wrestling poster in your hometown and it has WLW on it, know that your money will be well spent and go to a good cause.

Fans this month can catch WLW four times as the Second annual Harley Race invitational tournament will be decided. Last years ,winner “The Prince” Jason Jones propelled that momentum towards capturing the WLW Championship.

This month Kevin Von Erich returns to WLW , while his sons will have their very first match EVER!!

April 20th – Brian Breaker/WLW Champion “The Prince” Jason Jones vs. Ross/Marshall Von Erich (with Kevin Von Erich ringside), WLW Tag Team Champions will make title defense, “The Well Mustacheod Gotch Stylist” Ryan Drago will have singles competition, WLW Ladies Championship will be defended as Stacey O’Brien faces The Great Cheyenne. More TBA.

April 21st – The Harley Race Invitational Tournament continues as Ryan Drago will face Dustin Bozworth in semifinal qualifiers as well as Superstar Steve wrestling to see if he can continue on in the tournament, WLW Champion “The Prince” Jason Jones will face Marshall Von Erich, Brian Breaker will face Ross Von Erich in singles competition. More TBA

April 27th – More Harley Race Invitational Tournament semi-qualifying matches will take place as Brian Breaker aims to secure a spot in the finals of the tournament. WLW Champion “The Prince” will have a championship title defense, and WLW Ladies Champion will defend her title (assuming the championship doesn’t change hand before this night), and the Von Erich brothers will be in action against WLW tag team champions Strong & Reckless!

April 28th – The finals of the Harley Race Invitational Tournament take place this night with the participants to be decided upon by previous matches, the Von Erich Brothers will be in action,  WLW Ladies Champion  will be defending her WLW ladies championship, and WLW Heavyweight Champion “The Prince” Jason Jones puts his title on the line.

Again, more superstars will be announced in the coming weeks and there WILL be more announced. The HUGE event in Eldon will also be the “Harley Race Appreciation Night” so many fans will be in attendance! Get your tickets reserved now at wlwtickets@earthlink.net!

MWR Book Review: The Somebody Obsession- A Nobody’s Desperate Journey to Stardom by Matt Murphy

Missouri Wrestling Revival Book Review: The Somebody Obsession- A Nobody’s Desperate Journey to Stardom by Matt Murphy

People are often discussed with the notion that societies are black and white. In the world of wrestling it is magnified even more so: promoters are people looking to use their wrestlers, the wrestlers are loose cannons, and the fans, well, we are all missing a few pieces to the puzzle.

The truth of the situation is that each one of us can fit that description at one point during our life. Life is not easy and sometimes the desire to succeed can turn a great payout promoter to struggle to pay his wrestlers, cause a wrestler with all the tools to succeed to become bitter, or have a hard working fan get so upset during a match that he does or says something he/she regrets.

For many, wrestling is a way of life. Whether you work in the sport or you just love cheering on your favorite wrestler, we just can not get enough of the wild world of pro wrestling.

At Missouri Wrestling Revival.com, you have seen many of the stars of the Midwest go after titles, do promos and travel town to town in the hopes of getting noticed. Each man and woman has a tale to tell.

One man with such a story to tell is “All That” Matt Murphy. Murphy grew up in the Midwest, not with a silver spoon in his mouth but with hardships and a love of pro wrestling.

His story talks to the reader with an honest look at himself, his friends, and even his closest peers in wrestling.

His first claim to fame was being named “The first graduate student of former World Champion Harley Race’s Wrestling Academy” but what a trip it was to become that.

Murphy makes you feel like you were right there as he struggles to become a man as a teenager to coming back home as a boy that lived his dreams. Stories of who helped him and who took their advantages of himself and other wrestlers are high points throughout the book.

This is easily a must read for any wrestling fan or aspiring young boy that truly wants a taste of a guy who has had the opportunity to make it to Japan and the disappointment of not making it to the WWE.

Matt Murphy was able to see his friend and fellow WLW Alumni Trevor Murdock make it to the WWE with much success. Hear his thoughts on that, as well as his time working with Ian Rotten’s IWA Mid-South along with current WWE Superstar CM Punk. What kind of impression did former wrestlers Big Van Vader and Meng leave on him plus stories of his time with Pro Wrestling NOAH.

I have had the pleasure of working with Matt Murphy in the past and this book gives us a true look at the man who has been a winner, a underachiever with much self doubt, a self proclaimed asshole, and a man who by all means overachieved and did not appreciate it.

After my final assessment of Murphy with working with him and reading his books, I feel as if he is one of wrestling’s best kept secrets. Matt Murphy is a man who has a wealth of wrestling knowledge that just does not sugar coat his thoughts. If given the chance I have no doubt that Murphy is capable of improving the world of wrestling as we know it today.

His book delivers with a must read story for every fan that loves wrestling.

Brian Breaker 2011 Missouri Wrestling Revival Future Star.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on January 5, 2012

The goal of Missouri Wrestling Revival has always been to support the men and women of Pro Wrestling.

In 2010 we debut the prestigious MWR Future Star award.

The criteria is for a wrestler who has not only has the skills to make it to the top but the desire and dedication to seek out opportunities to be the best that he or she can be.

We could not be more excited than we are this year in the wrestler that we have chosen.

Not only does he have the size, build and skills to be a star in the sport for many years to come but he also has been under the watchful eye of the 8-time NWA World Champion Harley Race.

His name is Brian Breaker.

Standing at 6”3 and a chiseled 255 pounds he has burst onto the wrestling scene at the young age of only 21 years. Hailing from Sand Springs Oklahoma, Breaker has sent many opponents on his feared finisher the Oklahoma Death Ride.

With raw talent Breaker has already been able to capture gold as one half of the WLW Tag Team Champions as well as being a two time WLW World Heavyweight Champion.

Scouts in Japan have quickly noticed the talent that the man possesses and in the spring of 2011 he was invited for a tour of Pro Wrestling Noah.

Once he returned to the Midwest he has taken his bone crushing moves to Metro Pro Wrestling in Kansas City and NWA Dynamo and SICW in St Louis.

When WWE came to St Louis in 2011, he was asked to step up to take on highly hyped WWE’s Brodus Clay in a battle of two powerhouses and though Clay would get the win, it would be valuable experience for Breaker.

Meanwhile, Breaker dominated the competition in his home base of WLW including an exciting defense of his title against young Jack Gamble during the annual WLW/Pro Wrestling Noah show in Eldon Missouri.

During the camp Breaker would continue to learn from the very best in WWE Hall of Famer Ricky Steamboat, Kevin Von Erich and Steven Regal.

It is with great pleasure that we are to name the 2011 MWR Future Star of the Year award to Brian Breaker.

Past MWR Future Star Award winners

Stacey O’Brien 2011 Missouri Wrestling Revival Female Wrestler of the Year.

Stacey O’Brien becomes the first ever wrestler to be a two time MWR recipient in the singles category.

O’Brien returned in 2011 after an injury had sidelined her since 2009 with a mission to regain her spot as the women to beat in the Midwest.

To say that she is better than before would be an understatement as she has been touring the Midwest breaking young fans hearts and bringing fear in her opponents.

O’Brien has been on fire capturing wins against the likes of rising star Lucy Mendez to start the year at Metro Pro Wrestling.

In April, in Collinsville Illinois, High Voltage Wrestling presented a supershow with Larry Zbyszko and a special first time meeting between Santana G with special guest Dave Hebner as the referee . While Santana G looked to celebrate her homecoming back to the Midwest, it would be Stacey O’Brien to put an end to the party when she had her hand raised once again in a true classic battle of two of the best young talents in the sport.

During a memorable moment in hot month of July, Stacey O’Brien, turned the heat up even more as she had the men’s mouths drop as she came out in a sexy Metro Referee outfit to restore order in a match between Lucy Mendez and Miss Natural.

Back in action O’Brien would come back to St Louis the South Broadway Athletic Club for the MMWA and capture a victory from arch rival Mendez, though Mendez would even the score at SICW later in the year.

At NWA Dynamo wrestling on August 8th in Glen Carbon Illinois, Stacey O’Brien would take the NWA Midwest Women’s Champ MsChif to the test in a great battle that saw MsChif use her “Green Mist” to score a victory to retain her belt.

O’Brien and her arch rival Mendez would go at it all year in World League Wrestling around the Midwest. In Burlington, Iowa on September 18th the WLW Women’s title was declared vacant and it would be the Boston Bawler who would become a 3-time WLW Ladies Champion.

In October she took part in the WLW/WWE/NOAH week long training camp to improve her skills, to get noticed and to be the best that she can be.

There is no doubt that in 2010 pro wrestling in the Midwest missed the talents of Stacey O’Brien. Fans in the Midwest enjoy her while you can as she has the work ethic to make waves in Shimmer, Japan, TNA or even WWE in the near future.

We would like to congratulate Stacey O’Brien as the 2011 MWR Female Wrestler of the Year.

1st Runner Up- Lucy Mendez
2nd Runner up-MsChif
3rd Runner Up- The Great Cheyenne

Other wrestlers that receive votes Serenity, Melanie Cruise, Miss Natural

Past MWR Female Wrestlers of the Year.

2010 Amy Hennig
2009 MsChif
2008 Stacey O’Brien
