SICW returns in 2013 on January 19th, in East Carondelet, Illinois!!

In an amazing moment in 2012, Ricky Cruz quickly won a number one contender’s battle royal on his first night at 3XWrestling to rocket him into main events across Iowa. Cruz is now the hunted, with all the superstars of the Midwest looking to take the CWC Title off his waist- Photo Credit Peyton Mitchell.

You will not want to miss the action on January 19 at SICW in East Carondelet when the Classic Wrestling Champion Ricky Cruz returns to action to defend his title. Cruz returns from headlining in Iowa the past few weeks a marked man.

The action and drama is heating up with questions galore on who will be able to take the prestigious title from the Champion first.

Will the manager supreme Travis Cook be able to lead either “The Wrestling Machine” Dave Vaughn or “The Iron Man” Ken Kasa to the promise land?

As the 2012 came to a close, the longest reigning, most feared man in all of wrestling, Ron Powers sent a message to promoter Herb Simmons by putting fan favorite Sean Vincent on the shelf for the whole year of 2013 by injuring his leg. Will the former Kingpin of SICW Ron Powers be able to take back what he feels is rightfully his?

On the hunt as always is the opportunist and wily veteran, “Gorgeous” Gary Jackson who’s 3 rules of wrestling has lead himself to championships throughout his career.

How about the young stallions of SICW? Men like Jake Dirden, Brent Myers, Alexandre Rudolph, Bull Bronson, Heath Hatton  and Chris Hargas who would love to put themselves on the wrestling map by defeating one of the top wrestlers in the country Ricky Cruz and adding the SICW Championship to their resume.

It is lonely at the top, even more so for the Classic Wrestling Champion and Ricky Cruz is now the hunted. Each and every day word leaks out that some of the toughest men in the country want to make their way to have the CWC belt around their waist.

You just never know who may show up in a SICW ring.

So mark your calendars for 2013, it is going to be an exciting year in East Carondelet, Illinois. Stay tune at Missouri Wrestling Revival for exciting updates throughout the year, for your number one source of SICW news in the Midwest.

Manager Ron Powers creates havoc in East Carondelet. SICW Wrestling returns this Saturday Old School Warriors return.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on November 20, 2012

SICW fans got their wish in October when Travis Cook told them that he would not be in attendance in East Carondelet, Illinois for the November show. The fans happiness would not last when Cook went on to make an agreement with the former Classic Wrestling Champion Ron Powers to manage his men for the night.

One fact remains with Powers and that is, you can never be sure what he will do, a loose cannon in every sense of the word. While the fans thought he would be out their to manage Cook’s men Dave Vaughn and Ken Kasa.

Powers took it on himself to offer his service to the likes of Max Archer, Bull Bronson, Jake Dirden, Alex Rudolph and his fellow henchman The Big Texan in battle against current champion Ricky Cruz.

Powers and his men did not show the usual savvy of Cook as Archer and Kasa each got disqualified for outside interference. When Powers offered his service to Rudolph, the young powerhouse decline him, only to see Gary Jackson seizing the opportunity for an edge to have Powers in his corner.

Jackson’s 3 rules applied in this

1. He came out to win

2.He refuse to lose.

3.He will cheat if he has too

4. Don’t forget the rules

So with that said thought Powers and Jackson often enemy’s joined forces to pick up another impressive victory in his historic career.

Powers had the experts wandering if he was scouting for more muscle but one thing was sure his number one goal was to send a clear cut message to Ricky Cruz that he had his eyes set on the CWC title as he brutally assaulted Cruz during the match.

If it would not have been for Power’s former right hand man Sean Vincent, he may have very well have taken Cruz out for good…Thankfully men like Chris Hargas, Heath Hatton and Chaz Wesson came out to stand the ground on Powers, Vaugn, Texan, Waco, and Bronson to insure that the Classic Wrestling Champion stood to fight another day.

Ricky Cruz feels the heat at SICW !!

Posted by flairwhoooooo on July 17, 2012

Missouri Wrestling Revival was front and center during the heated conversation in East Carondelet, Illinois as the new CWC Kingpin Ricky Cruz and former champ Ron Powers last month. Here is some exclusive video from the war of words that night in East Carondelet.

Later that evening a tag team battle between The Big Texan and Ron Powers vs. the team of Chris Hargas and Bobby D would become so fierce that for the first time ever I let go of my camera and picked up my video camera to allow you to see the ruthlessness of one Ron Powers.

The man is furious about no longer the Champ and will go to any means possible to regain his title from Ricky Cruz.

Ricky Cruz dethrones Ron Powers under the watchful eye of Gerry Brisco during the 53 Anniversary of Wrestling at the Chase.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on June 4, 2012

By Brian Kelley

It was now or never for the Puerto Rican star Ricky Cruz to overcome the most dominate champion in recent memory in Ron Powers on May 19, 2012 The title on the poster stated it all, “Ricky’s last chance” with a picture of the champ Powers in a white t-shirt blazoned with Cruz’s blood during a match last year and a photo of the fan favorite Ricky Cruz.

To make the stakes even higher on this evening was presence of WWE HOF and an important member of the WWE as a talent scout, Gerry Brisco was in the house along with his son Wes Brisco.

Another historic evening for SICW as they celebrated 53 Years of Wrestling at the Chase in a packed house with fans young and old, waiting to see a legend in Gerry Brisco and if by the chance Cruz would be able to walk out with the CWC title.

We got there early filled with excitement on not only the Cruz-Powers match but a chance to see the second generation superstar Wes Brisco take on Sean Vincent. I was so excited that as the doors opened from promoter Herb Simmon’s wife Mickey that when I received a text from SICW ring announcer Jeff Vernetti asking if we were already passing out his brand new MWR Trading card # 74? OOPS. Quickly I got with MWR  DIVA Dubray who went to pass out to the fans that had already paid their free Vernetti MWR Trading card.

Almost forty years to the date St Louis wrestling promoter Sam Muchnick presented a new NWA World title belt to the winner of the Harley Race and Gerry Brisco’s late brother Jack Brisco. In an exciting announcement Herb Simmon’s started the night off with presenting Powers with brand new shiny CWC title.

Photobucket

Promoter Herb Simmons stated he didnt approve of Ron Powers and his reign of terror but respected his talent. On this great night a new CWC title was presented to the winner of the main event between the champ and Ricky Cruz.- Photo Credit Brian Kelley

Power’s stated that “It was time that he would have a title belt worthy of him to carry to the ring unlike one that was made at the local Home Depot”. Race would start the night off as the NWA Champ, but when the dust settled it would be Gerry’s brother Jack taking home the brand new belt.

Could history repeat itself?

Photobucket

oh no for Lockdown Tony Raze as Dan Walsh was ready just in time- Photo Credit Brian Kelley

After an exciting contest that saw the crowd celebrate as Dan Walsh & LaMarcus Clinton defeated Max Archer & Tony Raze when LMC pinned Archer after the Macho Elbow the first Chase moment happened. Former Wrestling at the Chase announcer Larry Matysik interviewed Gerry Brisco in front of the fans.

Photobucket

Wrestling at the Chase announcer Larry Matysik had called many of matches of Gerry and his late brother Jack in the past. Here they smile and take the fans down memory lane- Photo credit Brian Kelley

A special moment was captured when Herb Simmons surprised Brisco with an old adversary on the telephone in last year’s special guest Dory Funk JR.

Photobucket

During the intermission my friend ICON showed off the painting of one of the exciting new MWR Trading cards, Ring of Honor tag team “The All Night Express” Rhett Titus and Kenny King that will be used for MWR trading card number 80.

In a co-main event the before mention second generation superstar Wes Brisco a former WWE developmental star would be taking on the newly fan favorite Sean Vincent. Vincent a former stooge of Powers had recently broken away from the stable after becoming jaded with the addition of The Big Texan and Waco.

The month before Vincent lost a close matchup for the number one contender ship against Ricky Cruz for the chance to take on his former leader Ron Powers for the title. Still an opportunity to wrestle a man who many feel is a star in the making in Wes Brisco in front of his father Gerry Brisco a WWE scout is a dream for any talented wrestler in the Midwest would welcome on any day.

While Brisco has the namesake, Vincent has earned the respect of MWR with many great matches throughout the years. Brisco would explode at times only to see Vincent slow it down to take advantage in a battle between two of the very best. With the fans screaming for the figure four, Brisco tried to provide the fans with their wish but Vincent kicked out the first time but with sheer tenacity Brisco locked on the figure four in the middle of the ring. Vincent fought, screamed, and struggled to get out, or to reach the ropes with no hope at all. Moments later Vincent tapped as Brisco picked up the victory.

Out of respect the young Brisco offered his hand to the frustrated Canadian Hero Sean Vincent. Disappointed and upset, Vincent would share the respect to the second generation star. Moments later Vincent and Brisco would be joined in the ring by Brisco’s father who showed the utmost respect to Vincent by getting into the ring to raise the hands of both men.

The time was here that everyone was waiting for, the main event.

Could Cruz defeat Powers?

If not could anyone in the Midwest stop the monster?

As Powers entered the ring it was obvious that Cruz would not only have to pin the champ but watch his back as the masked men The Big Texan and Waco came to ringside to wreck havoc throughout the match.

Photobucket

Last instructions from promoter Herb Simmons to special referee in the biggest match in the history of SICW. – Photo credit Brian Kelley

Special Referee for the night was none other than Gorgeous Gary Jackson, a man who has been eyeing the title for some time now but with the animosity between these two at an all-time high, there had to be a man that was able to control the madness that look to be involved in this match.

Photobucket

Gary Jackson lays down the law to both Powers and Cruz.- Photo credit Brian Kelley

With the crowd soundly behind Cruz with Lets go Ricky chants echoing the packed building; Powers looked to take them out of the match as he threw Cruz to the concrete floors. While Powers distracted the referee the opportunity arouse for Waco and Texan to put the boots to the young star. At one point two of the biggest fans in the front row grew so upset that there was a three on one advantage that they left the show in disgust telling one of the security men that it wasn’t right and they were leaving.

Photobucket

These two ladies were so furious over the fact that Waco and the Big Texan continued to cheat to lay out Ricky Cruz they would leave before the end of the match…..To their credit they tried to protect Cruz by throwing their hotdog wrapper at Waco. -Photo credit Brian Kelley

Moments later Jackson had enough of the cheating and ejected the masked duo from ringside. Yet as Jackson made sure that they left the ring, that gave Powers a chance to pull out a steal chain out of his gear and wrap it around his knuckles. As Cruz came towards Powers unaware of the danger ahead, Power struck with a vicious blow that dropped Cruz like a rock.

Photobucket

Powers had a secret weapon with a steel chain wrapped around his already powerful fist, amazingly Cruz was able to recover.-Photo credit Brian Kelley

Powers looked to have ended Cruz’s quest at the CWC title with one shot, as Jackson counted one –two- thr——-Cruz was able to barly kick out thus giving the fans and himself hope. Still Cruz was wearing down from the brute strength of the champ. Yet, Cruz is no rookie and has a heart of a champion and as Powers argued with Jackson it gave himself a chance to regain himself and strike with a superkick on the champ. The fans came to their feet as Cruz went for the pinfall but the champ kicked out.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Cruz can brawl with the best of them but is truly a multi skilled wrestler who can submit his opponent at any time during a match…Here he lays into Powers who was in deep trouble reaching for the ropes in desperation.-Photo credit Brian Kelley

Blow after blow the action went back and forth between two of the top wrestlers in the country. Powers nailed a patented piledriver and I was sure it was all but done but somehow, someway Ricky Cruz was able to survive.

Photobucket

Leg strength like tank, Powers was able to withstand one but no way could he survive a second one from the Puerto Rican star as seconds later we had as Cruz would become the third CWC Champion .-Photo credit Brian Kelley

Then it happened Powers set up a second piledriver, but Cruz reversed out of the maneuver and delivered a second superkick to finally defeat Powers for the title!

NEW CHAMP NEW CHAMP NEW CHAMP

Ricky Cruz had done it!!!!

As the crowd came to their feet and the building shook with excitement and cheers, the WWE HOF Gerry Brisco came to the ring to strap on the title around Ricky Cruz’s waist just as Muchnick had done for his brother Jack nearly forty years ago when he defeated Race for the NWA World Championship.

Photobucket

In 2011 Ron Powers were one step ahead of Cruz but a new day has dawn in the Midwest as Gerry Brisco raises the hand of the new champ.-Photo credit Brian Kelley

History was made, Ricky Cruz had done the unthinkable and defeated Ron Powers for the CWC title.

I leave you with final words from the champ Ricky Cruz as he spoke to the fans on that night.

I want you to know that even though Puerto Rico is my home country and my first love, that I want to thank each and everyone of you for your support. I love you and American, thank you so much”- Ricky Cruz.

CWC Champion Ron Powers weighs in on being the special referee this Saturday in the number one contenders match.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on April 15, 2012

Photobucket

SICW ring announcer Jeff Vernetti tries to get a word with Ron Powers. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

We are joined with the current Classic Wrestling Champion Ron Powers today, first off Powers I would like to thank you for taking the time to talk to us at MWR.

Ron: Thank you for the opportunity

MWR: Ron it has been nearly a year since you captured the CWC Championship. Looking back at your reign, who did you feel was the biggest threat to your title and greatest moment to date?

Ron : It’s been 14 months, with the title. My biggest threat? No one. I am my own worst enemy. But I have to say, my greatest moment, was either laying out Danny Boy, or making Ricky Cruz bleed like a stuck pig.

Photobucket

Ron Powers and International superstar Ricky Cruz has been at each other’s throats for months. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

MWR: Your actions as Champion have not always been directed towards your competition and the fans. It has also been directed towards two of the nicest men in the Midwest Herb Simmons and beloved Wrestling at the Chase’s Larry Matysik. Please, take the time to remind fans of why you have so much animosity towards these two men who over a year and half ago had nothing but kind words for you as wrestler and a person.

Ron: There is something here, people don’t know. Larry, Herb, Brody, and Bob Orton created me back in the late 80’s. I am their Frankenstien. I cannot help who I have evolved into. Now I am supposed to be a nice guy? This business will bring out the worst in you. I’m just not afraid to show it. Everyone says I’m a bully. This is a business, my business……….Do something about it.

Photobucket

Sean Vincent , CWC Champion Ron Powers and The Big Texan has not seen eye to eye, it was only a matter of time before the power of 3 egos broke them up. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

MWR: Recently we took a closer look at your former right hand man, Sean Vincent and why he felt it was time to break away from your pack. His thoughts on The Big Texan was less than flattering, what was the reason you brought in a third man to your group and looking back was it a wise thing to do.

Ron: Sean Vincent was, is, and will always be, a tool. Unfortunately, a tool made in Canada. Foreign tools don’t last. I just throw the crap away. Big Texan is like a Craftsman tool. Made in the US, and came with a lifetime guarantee. As far as why I picked Texan? He’s better looking than Sean, even with the mask on!

MWR: Over the past few months we have seen you been put to the test as Ricky Cruz who has come very close to take your title. Last month, you were at seeking to take out both Vincent and Cruz. Vincent declared himself the next CWC Champion after winning a gauntlet match by defeating another rival of yours Chris Hargas.

You took exception to that comment and headed to the ring where you challenged the Canadian Hero right then and there. Vincent looked to have had the match won but because it wasn’t sanctioned the pinfall never counted.

Later that night you were involved in a two out of three falls match against Cruz. The match was tied 1-1 and from the reports we got, Cruz would have had you defeated for the title if Vincent wouldn’t have interfered and putting an end to the match.

Now the stage is set for a number one contenders match between your former partner in crime Sean Vincent and quite possibly the biggest threat to your title today, Ricky Cruz. Yet, there is a catch, you were somehow named special referee to this highly important match.

Photobucket

Sean Vincent may not have the size of the either Cruz or Powers but don’t count out the Canadian Hero. In the past few years he has picked up some huge victories. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

The question is can you call this match fair and square right down the middle ?

Ron: Lets get something straight. Cruz did not have me beat. It’s called stradegy. I knew what the count was. Now, back to the question. I have always been a fair person. Just misunderstood. I think it will be a great night. I love watching two people I can’t stand, A Puerto Rican and a canadian, beating the crap out of eachother!

MWR: Do you have a preference for who wins this matchup ?

Ron: Ricky has the edge. And Sean, you dumb ass, you’ve lost yours.

Photobucket

Many in attendance were shocked to see Kevin X fall to the multi talented Ricky Cruz in his last match in the Midwest earlier this month. Not MWR, Cruz may have struggled with the mind games of Powers but he is still considered a favorite to be the man to knock Powers off his throne in our eyes. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

MWR: Any last words

Ron:  Yes, I have a few. And they won’t be the last. Ricky Cruz, If you beat Vincent, I’m only giving you one more shot. I never needed more than title shot, and I’d take what I fought for. Hell Ricky, I have 15 years on you. That’s about how long it’s been since I heard your brother squeel. I promise I’ll keep it in the family. As for Sean Vincent, don’t outsmart your common sense. Your a punk, and you can’t hold a candle to a third of my career. You can poke fun at me, my wrestling atire, and my size. I might be fat, but your ugly, and I can lose weight.

MWR Trading card #66 Ron Powers

Posted by flairwhoooooo on March 14, 2012

Photobucket

CWC Champion Ron Powers has cleaned house at SICW. Can anyone stop him? Photo Credit Brian Kelley

6/16/66 is the year of this beast. Ron Powers is one of the last men that binds the gap between old school wrestling to the wrestling that we know today. From Power’s early days in the ring, terrifying his opponents and fans around not only the Midwest but around the world to today in 2012.

Ron Powers caught the eye of the legendary wrestler King Kong Brody with his raw ability that few men exist in the sport even today. Appearances for WWF (E), WCW, Mid-south, Texas and Puerto Rico only added to the legend of Ron Powers.

Today Ron Powers has shown that though his age may have raised but his domination in the ring has yet to be challenged since he turned on his good friend Danny Boy Hawkins to let SICW promoter Herb Simmons know that he had one goal in mind. That was to become the CWC Champion and no one and I mean no one has been able to weaken that grip that he has on the belt.

His 2011 Year was so impressive that the Powers received enough votes from the MWR committee to be named 3rd runner up as wrestler of the year, while only wrestling in only one promotion in the MWR coverage area. A first during the year in awards for that category

This month Ron Powers will meet one his most dangerous foe in arch rival Ricky Cruz in a two out of three falls match for the title. If Cruz is unable to succeed then one has to wonder if anyone can stop this monster.

Photobucket

With a bio from legendary Wrestling at the Chase announcer Larry Matysik along with a quote from King Kong Brody this is truly a card worthy of the man who is deserving of a card for a wonderful career –Ron Powers.
