Fans entered the building to receive free NWL KC T-shirts, bumper stickers, and merchandise. They were also welcome to come to the NWL booth to sign up for NWL e-mail updates and purchase tickets for the Jan 7th debut of the NWL at the Scottish Rite Temple .

Chris Gough thanked everyone for their support throughout the years including the fans, wrestlers Turner Rec Staff and Metro Pro Wrestling crew.

He introduced the NWL owner Major Baisden. Baisden welcomed everyone to come out and support NWL in both KC and STL as they are looking to take wrestling in the Midwest to a new level. He then asked to have Metro Pro Wrestling Commissioner Michael Strider to come to the ring. Baisden addressed the near riot at St. Louis Anarchy in November that was led by Strider and fellow NWL KC. Baisden had told Strider NOT to go to STL on that night and for interrupting Davey Vega’s title belt celebration with the chaos, he was FIRED.

Major Baisden then told Strider that he had reinstated Jeremy Wyatt.

Congrats to Kyle O’Reilly from MWR for Becoming the Ring Of Honor World Champion

Posted by flairwhoooooo on December 3, 2016

Missouri Wrestling Revival would like to congratulate Kyle O’Reilly for becoming the Ring of Honor World Champion tonight. We have been huge fans of O’Reilly and have had the honor of covering his matches at St. Louis Anarchy, Metro Pro Wrestling and throughout the Midwest. A well deserved and earned honor for a man who we believe is among the many talented wrestlers that will lead this generation for years to come.

15220109_10154611241961328_8259640084205787067_n

From the Ring of Honor website

In the thrilling, ultra-violent main event, Kyle O’Reilly defeated arch rival Adam Cole to achieve his dream of winning the ROH World Championship.

Per O’Reilly’s request, the bout was turned into a no-disqualification match, and both men ended up severely lacerated as a result. O’Reilly and Cole assaulted one another with tables, chairs, garbage cans, a chain, the championship belt and thumb tacks.

No matter how much punishment Cole inflicted, O’Reilly would not be denied on this night. With thumb tacks sticking in his back, O’Reilly caught Cole in the Cross Armbreaker and forced him to tap out.

Don’t miss your chance to witness this historic, amazing event by catching the replay of Final Battle

Free NWL #FightSTL shirts, stickers, and more for the first fans through the door at St. Louis Anarchy’s awesome show.

-The show started with promoter Pierre Abernathy addressing the fans and acknowledging the fact that it was the final show for St. Louis Anarchy. He brought out National Wrestling League promoter Major Baisden; he got a mixed reaction, but he spoke to the fans about his vision for the NWL and seemed to have them on board.

The Hooligans(Devin & Mason Cutter)(w/ Uncle Leo) d. The Viking War Party(“American Viking” Alexandre Rudolph & “Littlest Viking” Jake Parnell); the match broke down into a bar fight with the four sitting in chairs and punching each other. It finally came down to Devin simply pummeling Parnell to the mat and pinning him (15:53).

“Dad Bod” Sean Orleans won a four-corner match with Cody Krash, Ken Lee, & Chris Crunk when he pinned Crunk after hitting a double Stone Cold Stunner on Crunk & Lee (6:03).

Kevin Lee Davidson d. Mike Outlaw after a Regal Roll off the second rope followed by the spinebuster (10:01).

-“Gorgeous” Jordan Lacey d. “The Incredible Primal Prodigy” Matt Kenway (Look At Him) after the Jenna Jameson(swinging uranagi) (2:02). Gelistico & Adams attacked Lacey after the match, but the returning Adam Caster and Frankie Big Balls made the save! Caster addressed the fact that he had bought into Gelistico’s “bull$#!+”, but he had to retire from wrestling due to concussions and had cleared his head.

slanovll-362

He introduced Frankie Big Balls as well as several personalities from SLA’s predecessor, the Lethal Wrestling Alliance: Jordan Taylor(former LWA President), Tim Pickerill(who did a lot of behind-the-scenes work for the LWA), and Mad Dog Daffronian(LWA ring announcer).

Vega delivered his brainbuster onto the knee on Gary Jay, then hit the move on Fitchett as well and pinned the champion for the win (17:02)! Vega barely had time to celebrate his win as several competitors from the Kansas City side of the NWL attacked all three competitors; I saw Logan & Sterling Riegel), Jake & Ryan King, Kiyoshi Shizuka, and even Michael Strider!

Ricky Cruz Reflects on his Career in the Midwest- See Him One Last Time on Saturday

Posted by flairwhoooooo on November 23, 2016

0000

When Ricky Cruz told me recently that he was calling it a career for some reason I just did not compute that it would actually happen. Maybe I was in denial. Time passed and to be honest I had forgotten all about it till I was having breakfast at Denny’s with my friends Ben Simon, Patrick Brandmeyer and Gary Weiss and it was one of the main topics this past Friday night.

To say that Ricky Cruz was influential in the Midwest since his debut in 2011 would be an understatement. One of the top stars in his country of Puerto Rico, fans quickly fell in love with not only the wrestling skills that Cruz possessed but the rare charisma that only a few are blessed with. In fact other than Brandon Espinosa and Jeremy Wyatt  there most likely is no other wrestler that I photographed or wrote their name on our site more throughout his time in the Midwest, than “The King of Chaos”, Ricky Cruz.

There is no doubt that his feuds and matches with the likes of Ron Powers, Jeremy Wyatt, Adam Pearce,  and Jake Dirden will be remembered for years to come. More than once I have seen a crowd that was dead for one reason or another come alive as Cruz was able to establish a connection with them and get them to their feet.

3

Cuz always took the time to help other young stars in the area along the way with advice in and out of the ring. Though I have mentioned it more than once already it can’t be stated enough the connection that Ricky Cruz had with his fans, young and old. As a photographer he made my job FUN and easy when it was time to get that awesome photo of a wrestler with his fans, before, during and after the matches. If I only had a dollar each time a fan asked for me to take their photo with him through the years I could take December off.

He would go on to star for almost every respectable company in the MWR Coverage area, winning titles and being named the 2014 MWR Wrestler of the Year. We were also honored to have him be a part of the first series of the MWR Trading card set at number #78.

000

When Ben Simon came up with the idea of having a MWR Missouri Title, Ricky Cruz became the first ever champion when he defeated Jake Dirden. I am forever grateful that he took pride in carrying the title that had the MWR name throughout the state of Missouri. We had so much fun through his reign working with several top promotions and wrestlers along the way.

dubi
On a personal level, the future Mrs. Brian Kelley, (Dubray) and I will always consider Ricky a dear friend.

1

This Saturday I hope that you join me as we say farewell to Ricky Cruz as he takes on his arch rival Jake Dirden one last time at Dynamo Pro Wrestling at the Ready Room on Saturday night.

Dynamo Pro 11/26/16

I leave you with Ricky Cruz’s final goodbye through social media, but it will be so much sweeter for you to say goodbye to him in person.

By the way Ricky if you decide to renege on this announcement afterwards I am all for it.

Cruz can’t lose.

Brian Kelley – Missouri Wrestling Revival Owner and Editor

Thank you!!

Since May 2011 I’ve had the opportunity to be here in the mid-west doing what I love, WRESTLING. It’s been great to have the chance to entertain the fans and work with so many talented people.

I wanted to take a minute before this 2 last matches and thank the people that have help me and encourage me to continue doing what I love when I thought I would never set foot in a ring ever again. When I came to St. Louis I was injured and I was never to wrestle again or at least that’s what I was told by my Dr. but that wasn’t the case.

As I was getting better I had the chance to meet Keith Smith and Tony Costa, two gentleman that has been in wrestling forever. They gave me a place to train and later on my first opportunity to come back to the ring. For that I will forever be grateful.

Also thanks to Herb Simmons because he gave me a chance to do great things at SICW. Even when we don’t see eye to eye in a couple of things this days I still appreciate the opportunity and the faith he had in me and my work. I hope one day we can seat at Steak and Shake like we use to and talk wrestling.

I have to thank all the veterans that helped in any way, Keith, Chester, Gary, Pete, for all the advice and their comments. Thank you for helping me be better at this craft.

High Risk Wrestling Dec 2nd Warsaw, MO Mike Sydal vs Davey Richards, Angelina Love vs Miss Natural

Posted by flairwhoooooo on November 22, 2016

15036540_1327897840594686_712899780077615537_n

High Risk Wrestling Presents “Final Fight”, our last Event of the year on Friday, December 2nd, at the Warsaw Community Building in Downtown Warsaw, Missouri! The doors open at 7:00PM and The First Bell is at 8:00PM!

We are just two weeks away from our next HUGE Event! At this time, I can announce the next two matches!

1. The new HRW Tag Team Champions, BabeWatch will be defending their newly won Championships against former Champ, Matt Kenway and a new partner of his choosing!

HRW Tag Team Championship Match!
BabeWatch ( “Simply Irresistible” Brandon Aarons / Brandon “Espy” Espinosa ) Managed by Garret “Freakin” Williams (c) VS “The Primal Prodigy” Matt Kenway / “The Millennial” Danny Adams

2. After the Wild Main Event at our last Event, where Justin D’Air defeated his former friend, turned Enemy, Mike Outlaw to win The HRW Mayhem Championship, I have decided to make a rule change to The Mayhem Championship as it will now be defended in more than just multiple person matches!

Back in 2005, I, Frank Thurman, ran a Promotion called F.I.S.T. Wrestling in Peoria, Illinois. This Promotion had a Championship called The Specialty Championship. This was a totally new and different Title as it had some specific rules. This Championship could only be defended in some kind of Speciality match, which could be anything from, winner gets 5 minutes with the manager to a 3 way match to a Cage match to a Table match, etc., but there had to be some type of stipulation before the Title could be defended.

The First Athlete to claim The F.I.S.T. Specialty Championship was Now, Wrestling Legend, SharkBoy who defeated Independent Wrestling Legend, Jimmy Jacobs managed by Tank Thurman in a 5 count match, where a 3 count was not good enough, you had to keep your opponent down for a full 5 count!

With this in mind, I have decided to change the Stipulations for The HRW Mayhem Championship!

The HRW Mayhem Title will now have the same stipulations as the Specialty Title! The Mayhem Title can now only be defended in a match with some kind of special stipulations, including multiple person matches!

After watching the last two matches between, Justin and Mike, where they literally left bumps and bruises on each others bodies, I have decided that this conflict between these two Men, needs to end before someone ends up permanently disabled. To that end, I have booked one last match between these two, to hopefully end this once and for all!

HRW Mayhem Championship Match!
Last Man Standing Match!
Justin D’Air (c) VS Mike Outlaw

Also featuring the following:

NWA Missouri Championship match!
“The Freestyle Phenom” Jay Howard (c) VS Paco Gonzalez

Number one Contenders Match!
“Tornado” Tony Kozina VS Kiyoshi Shizuka

HRW High Risk Championship Match!
“The Yoga Monster” Mike Sydal (c) VS “The American Wolf” Davey Richards

High Risk Women’s Match!
“Miss Natural” Heather Patera VS Angelina Love

One Promotion,Thousands of Memories- SLA has Their Last Event this Friday- Do Not Miss Out

Posted by flairwhoooooo on November 13, 2016

The end of an era will happen this coming Saturday in Alton, Illinois as St. Louis Anarchy will have their last event this coming Friday In Alton, Illinois . The National Wrasslin’ League (NWL, LLC) has acquired them with exciting events scheduled in 2017 (more details here).

If you have not been with MWR for the past 8 plus years you may have not known that the SLA foundation was built through a promotion called the Lethal Wrestling Alliance. The LWA featured a group of men and women that had the passion and work ethic to provide the fans with an exciting and fresh style of wrestling. This grass roots promotion offered an opportunity for many of the rising stars in the area to excell against several stars around the country, several of them that  would go onto star in the main event of Wrestlemania.

Throughout the years the LWA would feature hardcore matches, comedy, wrestling classics and memories that shaped the sport in St. Louis for this generation and years to come. The transition from the LWA to the promotion now known as St. Louis Anarchy would find huge success in their home of Alton, Illinois with double shots on Friday and Saturday in front of some of the best fans in the country.

SLA will forever hold a place in my heart due to the  wonderful fans that came to the events for all those years in an unforgettable atmosphere. The above photo is one of my personal favorites, an early LWA event in House Springs as we tailgated prior to a show where we enjoyed delicious food, beer and great friends. I have always loved to see the Lacey and Jackson family as well and supporting the hard working men and women that gave their blood sweat and tears for the fans and the sport that we love.

I would like to encourage all of my friends that we have met in the past to make their way to Alton, Illinois this Friday for one last memory of St. Louis Anarchy and if you have never experienced SLA then please come out to be a part of history as I expect this to be a night to never forget.
