Controversy at the Casa Loma Ballroom – Maverick and Drew Gold End the Letterman Era

Posted by flairwhoooooo on June 7, 2017

Photos and article by Brian Kelley

The Letterman era has ended before it could fully get started thanks to the dirty nasty tactics of two men. That is right Maverick is the new NWL St. Louis champion after defeating Todd Letterman and Cornell Douglass (with Castle) in a three-way match on June 4 at the Casa Loma Ballroom and MWR was on hand to cover all the hard hitting action.

The three powerhouses went to war, only hampered by the interference of “Brother” Castle. The referee’s hands were tied (as in typical three-way fashion) there were no disqualifications. “Lockdown” Ray Briggs made his way to the ring to clear Castle from ringside.

Confusion set in when Drew Gold, manager of “Greatness” Marcellus Gaines entered the ring with brass knuckles.

At first, it looked as if he would hit Letterman, only to have Maverick stop the blow by taking the brass knuckles out of Gold’s hand. Then it happened ….. Maverick drilled Letterman with the brass knuckles

Just like that Maverick had the NWL STL strap in his powerful grasp and Drew Gold flaunted a Maverick T-shirt much to the disdain of the NWL STL fans.

Moments later, the big man Jack Foster came to the ring to confront the new champion. He let it be known that he was on the hunt for the title. Maverick vs. Foster would be a war for the ages.

Heading into Father’s Day weekend, Maverick stands atop the NWL STL. Reserve your tickets for June 16th at the Casa Loma Ballroom by heading to http://fightstl.com/. Note this is a Friday card, with a bell time of 7 P.M.

The Letterman Era Is Upon Us – Todd Letterman is the First NWL STL Champion

Posted by flairwhoooooo on April 10, 2017

By Brian Kelley

Just in case you are one of the few that did not hear Todd Letterman proclaim loudly to NWL correspondent Marti Belle that the Letterman era has begun, this is an bonus warning to all NWL wrestlers from MWR .

Letterman showed off his athleticism, power and perseverance in classic matches during the NWL STL tournament against Skyler Beckett, Marcellus Gaines,  Mathew Grundy and then a brutal war with Maverick in the finales that sealed his name in the history books.

When the year started MWR announced that he was one of the 2016 MWR Future Stars of the Year, Todd Letterman would be a star. Little did we know that Letterman would be the man to make history as the first ever NWL STL Championship.

We have a lot of respect for  Letterman who has been trained under former ROH WORLD Champion Michael Elgin, took advantage of the Harley Race WLW, WWE, Noah camp and last year wrestled in Europe . No one else looks like him and I can’t say enough about how much upside he has in years to come. .

With that said, we have not been impressed with his attitude and actions as of late in interviews and in the ring, but there is no denying that he is well deserving of being the NWL STL Champion.

Look for updates at MWR on who the new champ will face in his first defense. Will it be Maverick (who had just won a huge match earlier last night against Cornell Douglass, prior to the clash with Letterman for the title) get a rematch and end the era before it gets rolling,  or is 2017 the year of the “5 star Phenom” Todd Letterman and we will just have to deal with it?

The Champagne has been Popped- Dak Draper is the First Ever NWL KC Champion

Posted by flairwhoooooo on April 2, 2017

The Mile High Magnum Dak Draper and Blain Meeks went to war at the Scottish Rite Temple in the finals of the NWL KC Championship last night that had fans clamoring for more.

Early on it looked as if Meeks speed would be the deciding factor on his way to the title, but Draper was able find an opening to force his will at key moments of the match. Meek chants from the fans shook the building as their favorite looked to have the match won with his daring and fearless aerial attack he was able to hit, in and out of the ring with expertise timing and perfect location on Draper’s body and head.

After a roller coaster chain of events that saw Marco and Leonel Howlett enter the ring in hopes of helping out Draper, the Royal Blood, Jax and Jet came out to run them out of building. It was still anyone’s match to win. When the smoke cleared it was Draper that was able to get the 1-2-3 and make history as the first ever NWL KC Champion.

Now Draper has his  million dollar looks, the perfect tan and the NWL KC Championship belt around his waist with the finest drinks in hand. Meeks can hold his head up high and learn from this classic match to prepare him for his rematch that we can’t wait to witness ourselves.

Keep an eye out at MWR to find out who will be the first to face the new champion for the title.

We hope to see you this Sunday as the huge NWL STL Tournament  is set to happen  at the Casa Loma Ballroom in St. Louis.
