St. Louis Anarchy Holding Out on a Hero

Promoter Pierre Abernathy and Davey Vega started the show…Pierre told the fans that Chris Hero‘s flight had been delayed, but they were adding a match or two to the card to give him time to get to the building. As a result, I joked that the subtitle for Part 1 of Gateway To Anarchy could easily be “Holding Out For A Hero”,

Davey Vega acknowledged the passing of Darren Dean, who had competed for St. Louis Anarchy on a few occasions(usually teaming with Aaron Solo(w)). That segued into the ten-bell salute.

Justin D’Air & The K.C. Wolves(Luke Langley & Graham Bell) vs. Kevin Lee Davidson, Sean Orleans, & Kody Krash: This was K.L.D.’s debut and he made an immediate impression as D’Air and the Wolves did their best to prevent his entry into the match.

However, the big man got a tag and it was downhill from there for the opposing trio. The finishing sequence saw multiple dives until only Orleans was left in the ring…however, Orleans loudly proclaimed that he wouldn’t risk his neck with such a move. However, Bell got a hold of Orleans and Awesome-Bombed him over the top rope onto everyone else at ringside! K.L.D. finished Langley with his spinebuster finisher in 14:02, lifting Langley high enough that his head bumped a ceiling panel…the big man got over in a major way in his St. Louis Anarchy debut.

“The Money” Matt Cage vs. Paco Gonzalez: Cage wore a “Straight Outta My Closet” T-shirt in rainbow colors…heh. Paco finally got trunks and Cage acknowledged the wardrobe change by noting that he got his “big-boy pants”.

Paco went for the anklelock multiple times in the match, resulting in Cage limping in the late stages of the bout. That tactic led to his downfall as Cage countered the last anklelock attempt into a victory roll pin in 13:55. Alex Castle attempted another sneak attack, but Cage saw him coming and Castle backed off. That led to Cage speaking his mind about the implosion of the Kentucky Buffet tag team…he said that Castle let his other relationships get in the way of the team’s success. They did a good job of building to the following night’s last-man-standing match between the two.

Mike Outlaw vs. Christian Rose:

Oddly, it turned out to be the shortest match of the night as it was the only bout to go under ten minutes. Rose got the tapout win with the No-Leaf Clover (Liontamer-style Boston crab) in 8:36.

Stephen Wolf vs. “Buck Nasty” Bucky Collins: Hadn’t seen Bucky in several years(think he worked for High Voltage Wrestling a few times. Bucky’s an entertaining heel and the women in the audience were decidedly unimpressed by his mannerisms.

Buck Nasty won a good match with a crucifix bomb in 12:58.

“Zesty” Zakk Sawyers vs. Steve O. Reno:

Both guys were fan favorites in this one, though Reno seemed to be the subtle heel. It could have gone either way, though Zakk recently challenged Gerald James for the Heavyweight Title.

Sawyers stepped off the turnbuckles and jumped backwards into a Diamond Cutter variant, getting the pinfall in 14:51.

The Cause (Evan Gelistico & Adam Caster)(w/ Danny Adams, Everett Connors, & referee Austin Blackburn) vs. The Hooligans(Devin & Mason Cutter) vs. The Viking War Party(“American Viking” Alexander Rudolph & “Littlest Viking” Jake Parnell) vs. Team I.O.U.(“The Down-South Dandy” Nick Iggy & “The Music City Mutt” Kerry Awful) for the Tag Team Titles: This was the Anarchy debut for Iggy and Awful; they were in the rule breaking role with two very popular teams as the other challengers.

This was as chaotic as expected; I.O.U. would get a better chance to shine in their standard tag match on the Sunday show. Parnell attempted a tiger suplex on Caster that didn’t do either guy any favors. The Vikings dished out a huge pileup of humanity as Parnell hit a Codebreaker on Awful, then Rudolph choke slammed Iggy onto Awful as Parnell held Awful across his knees! Chaos broke loose at that point, allowing Mr. Gelistico to steal the fall on Iggy in 12:30.

Davey Vega vs. “The Rebel” Jeremy Wyatt (w/ Greg Jovi): Jovi interfered a bit, which led to Vega sliding out of the ring and wiping out the manager with a pump kick…bwahahaha. Wyatt focused his attack on the leg to potentially set up for his hanging half-crab submission hold…he got Vega in a figure-four leglock at one point, but Vega got to the ropes to escape.

Wyatt went for the hold again and Vega small-packaged him for the flash pin in 29:27(!). Surprisingly, Wyatt offered a post-match handshake and Vega accepted the gesture without incident…though Wyatt swiped a kid’s pizza on the way to the backstage area.

Intermission~! Given the length of the show, I indulged a bit and had a total of four sodas: Two Mountain Dews, a root beer, and a Pepsi. There’s your Official Ben Simon Concession Count(tm).

“The Big Mustache On Campus” Mikey McFinnegan vs. “Absolute” Ricky Starks: Starks was on cloud nine after his recent appearance on NXT…of course, that lasted all of about ten seconds and most of his TV time was being chucked out of the ring by Colin Cassady. He felt like he was on his way to bigger and better things and took on a decidedly arrogant attitude as a result…he even had an “I’m A Hugger” T-shirt that he personally received from NXT Women’s Champion Bayley Rose. McFinnegan tried on the shirt for size, much to Starks’ dismay.

They had a fine match, ending with Starks hitting the double-underhook faceplant in 11:58.

Jojo Bravo vs. “Dirty” Andy Dalton: Jojo’s been in a bit of a slump recently, partially due to questionable calls by the officials. Of course Dalton will take any opportunity presented to him, so that was right up his alley.

Bravo had the momentum, but a near-collision with the referee gave Dalton the opening to deliver an undetected punt to the Universal Weak Point(tm). Dalton rolled up Jojo for the win in 10:13, adding to Bravo’s existing frustration.

Chris Hero & Trik Davis vs. Danny Adams & Everett Connors (w/ Tag Team Champions Evan Gelistico & Adam Caster & Austin Blackburn): Right around 11:00 PM, Hero was ready to go for this penultimate match of the evening. Hero and Trik go way back, dating back to their early days in IWA Mid-South. If I was fantasy-booking, I would have liked to see him against Christian Rose…Rose’s style was compared to Hero’s for a little while. Perhaps that could happen down the line…hint hint.

The match got a lot of time. Hero hit the Death Blow(Rude Awakening setup into a roaring elbow to the back of the head) on Adams, then Davis followed up with a Diamond Cutter and Hero got the three-count in 24:23.

Gerald James (w/ Dorian Victor) vs. Mikey McFinnegan best-of-three-falls for the Heavyweight Title: James had held the title for a mind-blowing 862 days (over two years and totaling 28 months). Fitchett battled James on several occasions, winning some non-title encounters but never being able to unseat the champion.

That included one particularly humbling encounter when James beat him in two straight falls. Fitchett infiltrated the BOSS stable under the Dangerous Deveroux mask and nearly cost James the title to Davey Vega, but it was not to be…however, Fitchett earned one more title shot with his victory in the Anarchy Rumble in November. Notably, Victor went to the backstage area instead of staying at ringside for the main event.

They went right after each other from the opening bell, throwing huge bombs right out of the gate…knowing the people involved, that says a lot. Gerald won a quick first fall with the Michinoku Driver in a brisk 3:24. Fitchett lifted Gerald into a torture rack and dropped him into a reverse Go 2 Sleep(hitting the knee to the back of the head) for a near-fall, but hitting the move a second time was enough to even the score in 6:13.

Things got really wild in the final fall as Fitchett lawndarted Gerald into the wall, then hit the cradle piledriver in the ring for a near-fall. Gerald managed to fight back, but Fitchett countered a piledriver attempt on the apron by backdropping him onto the edge of the ring! Fitchett set the champion up on the turnbuckles, but Gerald came back with a flying DDT onto the edge of the ring…eep. Fitchett was left bloody, but incredibly managed to keep fighting…he delivered a cradle pildriver on the floor(!), then one more in the ring to FINALLY capture the title in 11:28!

Davey Vega celebrated with the new champion, who had to be assisted from the ring…we found out the following night that Fitchett had suffered a concussion. Dorian Victor and Christian Rose went to the ring to help the former champion…but out of nowhere, Rose turned on both of them! Rose locked James in the No-Leaf Clover, yelling at him “YOU LOST!” before leaving the “father and son” laying in the ring. After all of that, James addressed the fans…he said that whether they loved or hated him, he had hopefully earned their respect after his long title reign. He wasn’t sure how much longer he had to wrestle, but he’d keep fighting.

Lifetime Achievement Awards Presented, New Champions Crowned by Patrick Brandmeyer

History was set to be made at the Stratford Inn in Fenton, Missouri as Dynamo Pro Wrestling introduced a new championship…but history was made in other ways as well.

The show began with a presentation by Missouri Wrestling Revival as co-promoters “Evil” Jim Yount & Crystal Yount received the Lifetime Achievement Award for 2015. Ben Simon represented MWR as Brian Kelley took pictures at ringside; on top of that, Brian Stull was a special guest at the show as he had known Jim & Crystal since their days with Midwest Renegade Wrestling and Gateway Championship Wrestling. “Stully” had been a big proponent of independent wrestling in the Midwest through “The Stranglehold” radio show; he was there to join in the presentation of the award and also to ring-announce for the crowning of the first Dynamo Pro Wrestling D-1 Champion.

Jim & Crystal have been a part of the local wrestling scene for close to two decades and have played a big part in influencing many of the wrestlers that have competed in this area. They thanked the wrestlers and fans for their support, as well as former associate Sadie Blaze who was in attendance for the event.

High Level Enterprise had been on a roll as Tag Team Champions, but Jack Gamble & Jon Webb faced a tough test in the form of Alpha Class. Danny Adams & Paco Gonzalez had trained together under former Ring Of Honor Heavyweight Champion Michael Elgin and had formed an effective tag team combination, presenting a stiff challenge to the titleholders.

After a hard-fought battle, Gamble got the pin on Paco after Webb delivered a Spanish Fly off the top turnbuckle!

Billy McNeil has been resistant to the influence of his new manager C.J. McManus (as well as C.J.’s newest recruit Jayson Khaos), but he has indirectly benefited from their involvement in his matches. This was a big factor in his battle with Brandon Aarons, leaving the fans seriously conflicted about their support of the long-time St. Louis favorite. In particular, C.J. criticized McNeil’s continued wearing of his unicorn mask. Aarons delivered an impressive electric chair German suplex but McManus distracted the referee so his man wouldn’t be counted down.

McNeil confronted his manager, leading to Khaos delivering an unseen cheapshot on Aarons…Billy was seemingly unaware of the involvement, but small-packaged Aarons for the quick pin. After the match, McNeil found out about what happened and apologized to Aarons, leading to a handshake between the two competitors.

(P.S. I am contractually obligated to note that Aarons’ hair was on point as usual.)

“The Alternative” Ozzie Gallagher was intent on making a statement, not only to the fans but to his former associate Sadie Blaze. He had his opportunity in a match with Rocket Mapache, bringing an aggressive attitude that didn’t sit well with Sadie. Gallagher wasn’t focused on winning the match but on unmasking his adversary…while Rocket fought him off for a time, Gallagher finally removed the hood and mercilessly assaulted his foe.

Rocket abandoned self-defense to keep his face covered, forcing the referee to stop the match and award the bout to Gallagher. Gallagher flaunted his “trophy” after the bell, particularly rubbing it in the face of Sadie Blaze as he walked past his seat.

“Young & Dangerous” Evan Morris had defeated Jayson Khaos to qualify for the D-1 Title tournament, so Khaos was on the hunt for payback with manager C.J. McManus and stablemate Billy McNeil in his corner. However, McNeil was still at odds with his allies due to their actions earlier in the evening…he refused to take any cheapshots at Morris despite plenty of encouragement and opportunity to do so.

Morris escaped an Unprettier attempt and delivered a TKO onto the knee, scoring his second win in a row over Khaos; McManus attempted to jump in the ring to break up the pin attempt, but Billy pulled him back to the floor.

“The Don Mega” Shorty Biggs had defeated Lucy Mendez‘s newest protege Kiyoshi Shizuka at a recent event, but the masked man was looking to even the score due to Shorty’s continued interest in Lucy.

The former Tag Team Champion was on the verge of a victory, but Lucy threw herself between the combatants to shield her man from the finishing shot. That allowed Shizuka to poke Shorty in the eye and DDT him for the cheap win…to add insult to injury, Shizuka held a dazed Shorty for a slap to the face from Lucy.

Dynamo crowned its first D-1 Champion as Outtkast, “The Filipino Warrior” Elvis Aliaga(w/ Lucy Mendez), and Jayden Fenix of the Black Hand Warriors locked up in a triple threat matchup. Brian Stull did the ring announcing for the occasion as all three men were looking for their first singles gold in Dynamo Pro Wrestling. Outtkast and Fenix had been Dynamo Tag Champs, but Aliaga had never held a championship in Dynamo despite holding gold elsewhere. Outtkast was looking for his first singles title since his reign as GCW Light Heavyweight Champion in 2002.

Aliaga and Fenix formed a temporary alliance to wear down Outtkast, but that broke down as only one man could walk away with the belt. All three men had some close calls, but Aliaga was taken out of the picture long enough for Outtkast to finish off Fenix with the Case Study. Outtkast was presented the D-1 Title belt by Brian Stull and his tag team partner Shorty Biggs congratulated him on his milestone victory!

In a true David-vs.-Goliath battle, “The Yoga Monster” Mike Sydal took on the powerhouse newcomer Kevin Lee Davidson.

K.L.D. has been making waves in the Midwest and across the country as he has been training with Michael Elgin as well.

However, agility and experience won the day as Sydal turned the tide with some well-placed kicks. In the end, the Yogasault sealed the deal as Sydal picked up the three-count.

“Miss Natural” Heather Patera hadn’t been seen in Dynamo Pro in a while, but she was in the unusual position of being the fan favorite in a match against Lucy Mendez.

The two are no strangers to each other as they’ve battled all over the Midwest. In this case, Kiyoshi Shizuka made the difference as he pushed Miss Natural off the top rope behind the referee’s back; that allowed Lucy to capitalize with a jumping DDT to get the duke.

Shorty Biggs ran off the masked man afterwards, but the damage had been done.

The Heavyweight Title situation was in a state of turmoil. Defending champion Ricky Cruz and former champion Jake Dirden had been embroiled in a war in recent months, but Brandon Espinosa had earned the number-one contender’s spot in January. Espy had defeated former titleholder Mike Outlaw to ascend to that ranking, but Outlaw scored a pinfall over Dirden in an impromptu tag match later in the evening…setting the stage for a four-corner match for the championship.

Dirden loudly voiced his dissatisfaction with the match stipulation, saying that the title should be decided in one-on-one matchups and refusing to participate in the contest.

He stormed out the side door of the venue, leaving the remaining three competitors to battle it out. Espinosa was on the defensive against two fan favorites, but managed to catch the champion in his cross-armbreaker finisher.

Outlaw broke up the hold with the High Noon elbowdrop off the top rope, leaving all three men down. The King Of Chaos attempted to go to the top turnbuckle himself, but Espy took advantage of the no-DQ environment by knocking Cruz to the floor with a chair.

Espinosa delivered a frog splash on Outlaw, but Dirden chose that moment to re-enter the fray and break up Espy’s pin attempt!

Dirden threw Espy to the floor and attempted to pin Outlaw, but Outlaw kicked out at two. That only seemed to infuriate the “Intelligent Monster” as he pulled Outlaw to his feet, then dropped him back to the mat with a monstrous chokeslam! That was finally enough to put Outlaw down for the count…making Jake Dirden the three-time Dynamo Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Champion with Michael Magnuson and Jayden Fenix celebrating by his side!

Dirden Overcomes Outlaw At Dynamo’s Anniversary Show by Patrick Brandmeyer

Editor’s note: What an amazing 8 years it has been for Dynamo Pro Wrestling. I have been honored to cover the promotion almost through the start and the promotion is only getting better. Jim and Crystal Yount currently runs the Dynamo Pro school that has offered young students the opportunity to succeed in the world of pro wrestling. Dynamo Pro Wrestling has been active with several fundraisers throughout their years while deliver exciting action throughout the Midwest. I would personally like to congrats everyone involved with Dynamo today and in the past for their success and wish them the very best in the near future.. Before we head off to check out the awesome action from their 8 year anniversary with a special write up from Patrick Brandmeyer, let us take a quick look at some of the great fans that got to the event early as I made my way to welcome them in that evening. Dynamo Pro Wrestling celebrated its eighth anniversary at the Stratford Inn in Fenton, Missouri on Saturday, June 13th with a great night of action. Mike Outlaw got his obligatory rematch against Champion Jake Dirden, but outside factors would decide the outcome once again…

The event began with the full roster at ringside for a ten-bell salute to the late “American Dream” Dusty Rhodes. Dusty’s charisma, gift of gab, and overall influence on the wrestling business were undeniable and it felt like a true icon of the industry had passed away…wrestlers and fans of all ages counted themselves among those who were fans of The Dream.

Executive Director Mark Bland attempted to explain his actions against Mike Outlaw the previous month. He claimed that he wanted to teach the rookie a lesson about taking advantage of opportunities…Outlaw refused to use a weapon in his title defense against Dirden, leading to Dirden knocking out the champion with the briefcase. Bland ordered the referee to count the pinfall rather than call for a disqualification, resulting in Outlaw being cheated out of the belt. Outlaw was not satisfied with Bland’s explanation, but Dirden(accompanied by Travis Cook and Alexander P. Dixon) inserted himself into the verbal battle to set the stage for the night’s main event.

The first match of the night saw the ladies of Dynamo Pro in action as “The Queen Of Chaos” Lucy Mendez took on the debuting Paloma Starr.

Starr had the advantage in fan support, but Lucy’s experience made the difference as she scored the victory with a hanging DDT.

After her match, Mendez personally introduced “The Filipino Warrior” Elvis Aliaga for his bout…he would go one-on-one with Outtkast of the Bum Rush Brothers.

The two had traded wins in the past so this was the proverbial rubber match between them. Aliaga distracted the referee at a key moment, allowing Mendez to trip Outtkast on the top rope and then slap him in the face. With Outtkast focused on Lucy, Elvis was able to roll him up with a handful of tights for the cheap victory.

“The King Of Chaos” Ricky Cruz

The manager of Champions Travis Cook leads Jayden Fenix of the Black Hand Warriors.

“The King Of Chaos” Ricky Cruz brought his IWRG Rey De Ring Championship to the ring for his bout with Jayden Fenix of the Black Hand Warriors. Fenix’s manager Travis Cook, intent on controlling all the gold in Dynamo Pro Wrestling, challenged Ricky to put his belt on the line…Cruz accepted on the grounds that Travis finally shut his mouth!

Fenix surprised the veteran champion on a few occasions and nearly scored the upset more than once. However, Cruz retained his title via tapout with a modified Anaconda Vice.

The Bite Club made their way to the ring as Rocket(accompanied by Jackal) took on “The Millenial” Danny Adams in singles competition.

Rocket & Jackal had fallen short against the Black Hand Warriors in the previous month’s Tag Team Title match, but rebounded to upset the Bum Rush Brothers at Off Broadway and were looking to continue their momentum. For his part, Adams had been establishing himself as a top contender in recent months…he controlled a good portion of this matchup by focusing on Rocket’s leg. Rocket rallied, but missed an aerial move and Adams capitalized with a flying Codebreaker off the second rope for the three-count.

Payback

Justin D’Air & Keon Option were psyched for their Tag Team Title shot at the Black Hand Warriors, entering the ringside area with a special Straps Down University-themed entrance. The two rookies had been allies of Mike Outlaw in recent months in his wars with the Travis Cook Organization and hoped to derail their momentum with a big victory on this night. Michael Magnuson & Dave DeLorean had the edge in experience both individually and as a cohesive unit, making it an uphill battle for the upstart challengers. D’Air was isolated from his partner for several minutes, but Option finally tagged into the fray and his team seized the momentum. D’Air launched himself off the top rope into a 450 Splash on DeLorean, but Travis Cook distracted the referee from seeing the potential pinfall. That allowed Magnuson to bring a chain into the ring, but D’Air got it away from him and knocked him out with it…the referee turned around and made the three-count, seemingly crowning new Tag Team Champions!

However, Travis and Alexander Dixon protested the decision due to the use of the chain…and when the referee found the foreign object on D’Air’s person, he reversed the decision and awarded the disqualification victory to the Black Hand Warriors.

Shorty Biggs

After Outtkast and Aliaga’s clash earlier in the show, their tag team partners did battle as Shorty Biggs took on Brandon Espinosa (accompanied by Lucy Mendez). Shorty was intent on avenging his partner’s tainted defeat while Espy was hoping to make it a clean sweep of the Bum Rush Brothers. Lucy got involved in this matchup as well, but it finally backfired as Espinosa knocked Lucy off the ring apron by mistake. Biggs hit the Shortcut for the victory, then carried Mendez to the backstage area.

Black Hand Warriors Dave DeLorean is under this fans skin and the bell has not even rang.

The ringside area was crowded with humanity as the night’s main event began. Heavyweight Champion “Dirdey” Jake Dirden had Travis Cook, Alexander Dixon, and all three Black Hand Warriors on his side. Mike Outlaw was backed up by Justin D’Air and Keon Option, plus Executive Director Mark Bland was at ringside to observe the action…with all the combustible elements in one place, it didn’t take long for the powder keg to ignite. Outlaw rallied against the champion earlier and landed the High Noon top-rope elbowdrop, but the Warriors stormed the ring to break up the pin and everyone brawled. The referee made the decision to eject the extra wrestlers rather than call for an early disqualification…leaving only Cook and Bland at ringside.

Outlaw was intent on proving that he could take the big man down on his own…he felt he didn’t need extra help or foreign objects to accomplish that. If he was unable to win, he’d have to work his way back up the ladder of contention. Dirden dominated with his size and power for a while, but Outlaw kept finding ways to outmaneuver the champion. The young challenger hit a second High Noon and seemed to have the title won for a second time…but this time it was Mark Bland who broke up the pin attempt. Bland repeated his message about learning from his “experience” and seizing opportunities…in this case, it would be Dirden would take advantage of the situation, catching Outlaw in the Asiatic Spike from behind.

Dirden powered his opponent down to the mat but Outlaw refused to surrender; however, Bland used his executive influence and ordered the bell to be rung, declaring Dirden the winner by “submission”.

“YOU’RE FIRED

It seemed like the show was over, but Dynamo co-promoter Crystal Yount ordered Bland back to the ringside area. She angrily told him that the fans deserved a better ending to the anniversary show than that…so she sent them home happy by declaring to Bland: “YOU’RE FIRED!” Bland was outraged and had to be physically escorted out of the building by ringside security…capping off a wild night in Fenton for Dynamo Pro’s eighth anniversary!

New Pro Wrestling Epic Champion- It’s all about Brandon Aarons

Leone Mephisto was beside himself, almost to the point of insane about the attention that the Midwest heartthrob Brandon Aarons had received heading into the tournament to crown the new Pro Wrestling Epic Championship in Pontoon Beach, Illinois. In February, thousands of fans flocked to the Missouri Wrestling Revival web site to vote him as the 2015 MWR Sexiest Male of the Year. When MWR took the time to feature Aarons prior to the event on the site with 10 questions on his career and the upcoming tournament, Mephisto took exception that he was not mentioned at all as a threat to the title.

Any other time an opportunity to be honored by the fans with a trophy, would be a wonderful experience, but when it was announced to Aarons that he would be presented with the trophy prior to his match against Steven Kennedy, there was some buzz from several of the other wrestlers that felt that Aarons’ needed to be knock off of his pedestal.

In the first round, the high flyer Billy McNeil used his speed and experience to defeat the Sean Orleans protégé Laurence Johnson via a frog splash from the top rope to head into the finals of the PWE tournament.

The second match would feature Danny Adams and Curt Stallion in what could be their biggest match up to that point. On this night, Adams would get the victory to move forward in the tournament, but there is no doubt that you have heard the last of Stallion.

Leone Mephistos crazed obsession with Brandon Aarons was apparent from the moment he came to the ring for his match against Everett Connors. Mephisto continued to call him Brandon, before and after of the dismantling of the rookie for the win.

Mephisto was not the only one that took exception to Aarons getting attention. As MWR Fan relations Dubray Tallman was presenting the MWR Sexiest Male trophy to Aarons, Steven Kennedy came to the ring demanding to know why he was not declared to be the winner.

Even though he was told that he was not even nominated to be named the Sexiest Wrestler, Kennedy would hear none of it.

Within moments the battle was on for the final spot in the championship main event match. The two had battled many times before and knew each others tendencies as they matched each others moves with a counter strike.

In the end it would be a vicious super kick from Aarons as Kennedy was on his knees that would send the Sexiest Wrestler of the year to the finals.

The final four way match would be an elimination style until one man was standing and thus would be named the new Pro Wrestling Epic Champion. With a vengeance Mephisto attacked Aarrons as McNeil and Adams tore into each other.

McNeil would soar early from the ring onto all 3 men on the outside to get the edge, but his night would be over just as quick when Adams used his feet for leverage on the ropes to illegally eliminate McNeil.

Aarons was in deep trouble as Mephisto and Aarons made a pact to take him out two on one. The two delivered heavy punishment in and out of the ring, including chair shots that left the star battered and bloodied. Yet, it would be Mephisto’s obsession that would leave an opening for Aarons to strike. As Adams went to eliminate Aarons, Mephisto stopped Adams, yelling that he was the one that had to eliminate him. Adams was not happy about at all, and the friendship was over.

During the battle between Adams and Mephisto, Adams was able to get the edge once again only to have Aarons surprise him with a small package to end Adams quest for the PWE title. Once eliminated, Mephisto’s psychotic tendencies came into play as he slid Adams a chair and instructed him to finish Aarons off. At first , it seemed as if Adams would decline the offer to administer the pain, but with Mephisto in his ear he snapped and began brutally beating a bloodied helpless Aarons as Mephisto looked on with a smile on his face.

After Adams was finished with his assault, Mephisto went for what he was hoping be the final pin of the match, but Aarons wouldn’t give up. Mephisto did not miss a beat as he continued his brutality on Aarons as he drove him from the apron head first through chairs that had been set up early on during the match on the outside of the ring.

As the fans looked on shocked and in disbelief Mephisto drug Aarons lifeless body into the ring only to again see their hero refuse to give up kicking out after a long 2 count.

Mephisto full of rage and hate, now with Aarons blood smeared on his face, went to the top rope and attempted an aerial assault in the form of a moonsault.

Aarons quick thinking ,even with a possible concussion, avoided the move hitting a short range Superkick as soon Mephisto came to his knees, this time however it was Mephisto who wouldn’t give up proving that he could take it just as much as he could dish it out.

Aarons attempted to pick Mephisto to deliver a burning hammer for the win, only to receive a shot below the belt which nearly set up Mephisto to deliver the same move that defeated Everett Connors early in the night. Aarons agility allowed him to avoid the move and rock Mephisto with one last Superkick sending him into the ropes. Though Mephisto was reeling he still struggled to latch onto Aarons to regain the advantage. Yet, it would be Aarons who would counter by locking in a beautiful Cobra Clutch Style Suplex that finally allowed him to defeat the man who had been taunting him for months and secure Himself as the New PWE Champion!

10 Questions with Pro Wrestling Championship Series Promoter Greg Jovi

MWR owner and Editor Brian Kelley : Greg, I would like to thank you for joining us today at Missouri Wrestling Revival. We have covered you causing havoc as a manager at St. Louis Anarchy and Dynamo Pro in the past. Recently, you opened up a new promotion based out of Granite City, Illinois PWCS that has a unique set up based on team competition with several of the top stars around the country. I know that you are very busy preparing for the huge event this weekend for PWCS, so once again thank you for taking the time to speak with us.

Greg: Thank you for having me for this piece. Always appreciate the opportunity to get the word out and promote my brand.

1) You obviously are very passionate for pro wrestling, who was your inspiration to work towards being a part of pro wrestling in the Midwest?

Greg: I’ve wanted to be a manager and promoter since I was about 11 years old, the first time I saw Paul Heyman on ECW. Locally, I got hooked on GCW at about 13 and wanted so badly to be apart of that. Seeing guys like Dingo, Pete Madden, and the Ego Express (KC Karrington and Steven Kennedy) made me fall in love with wrestling all over again. Before that I had no idea Indy wrestling existed, let alone right in my backyard.

2) As I had mentioned, you are now a promoter in the St. Louis area, but prior to becoming a wrestling manager you respected the sport enough to seek training to be a pro wrestler. Who were your trainers or people instrumental in helping you , and what was that experience like?

Greg: I actually went in with the mindset that I was going to be a manager. I sent a promo reel to Dynamo and they liked it enough they invited me to the gym one week. I decided my first day I was going to get in there and try to do everything the wrestlers did, and I ended up doing very well and earning respect. Dingo taught me a lot, soon he stepped aside and Davey Vega took over. Sadie Blaze all the while taught me the managing side of things.

As far as how it was, it was the time of my life. I miss those times sometimes. I was in great shape, made great friends, and really showed myself something I never knew I had. I wonder now and again if I’d be a semi competent full time wrestler by now had I not been dropped on my head and injured my neck. I was really starting to click, but I think I was meant for where I am now.

3) Your other positions included being a referee and ring announcer. What are your pet peeves that referees and ring announcers do at this level, and what memories do you have of being of those positions?

Greg: I don’t really have ring announcing pet peeves, I’ll just say good ones are hard to find. Number one ref pet peeve is the best ones always want to wrestle it seems. More power to them, that’s not a knock, but a lot of great refs simply strive for more and great refs as well are hard to find.

4) After some time you would shock the fans by becoming a force in Dynamo Pro Wrestling and St. Louis Anarchy as a manager. At Dynamo Pro Wrestling you aligned yourself with the KC Karrington’s First Church of Karrington with Steven Kennedy, Dice and Adam Raw. Today, in the land of Anarchy you lead the N.WO style of faction BOSS that includes the St. Louis Anarchy Champion Gerald James, Dan Walsh, Jordan Lacey and more joining every second it seems as chaos reigns at SLA. Who was your first wrestler that you managed, and what mistakes as a manager did you make that you have fixed since then?

Greg: I think my first “client” if you will was actually Mat Fitchett, and I was a good guy believe it or not. Eventually, I turned on him at Yuletide Terror one year and we were off to the races. As far as mistakes, I remember never knowing where to stand. I was like, “if I stand here I’m blocking their view, but if I’m here nobody sees me at all”. I was super nervous about little dumb stuff like that all the time.

5) If you had the chance to manage to anyone wrestler in the world today who would it be?

Greg: First name that comes to mind is Kyle O’Reily. Great wrestler and great guy. I would also love to manage a female talent, that’s not a dynamic that’s really been done often. Would love to see what I could do managing somebody like Heidi Lovelace.

The St. Louis Anarchy champion Gary Jay has been unstoppable. Next month, in Alton, Illinois he will face JoJo Bravo on April 17th and if he is able to retain his title he will tested by Davey Richards the next night. This Saturday Gary and Greg represents the Ego Busters against the Resurgence Steven Kennedy in the double Main Event.

6) Gerald James has been the SLA Champion while defeating the likes of Takaaki Watanabe, Davey Vega, Angelus Layne and Mat Fitchett and is still one of the most underrated wrestlers in the country. His reign has been highly entertaining, what has been your highlight while leading him during this time.

Greg: There have been so many fantastic matches and moments in his lengthy reign, it’s hard to choose. I think busting up the Angelus Layne wedding has probably been my favorite. Being involved in a wedding gone wrong has got to be on every wrestlers bucket list right?

7) Last year, you came up with concept of Pro Wrestling Championship Series. Before we take a look at the upcoming 2015 season, please explain the concept to the fans for us on the team system.

Greg: Certainly. The concept is pretty heavily rooted in how college and high school wrestling works. We have four teams. Each event, the wrestlers from a team compete against the wrestlers from another. Their individual wins and losses go towards their team’s overall record. At the end of the season, the two teams with the best record face off in a four on four elimination match to crown that season’s champion. It’s pro wrestling as a team sport.

8) I know from experience that becoming a wrestling promoter is an uphill battle as in today’s environment. There are so Many entertainment choices for the fans to choose. From your experience what has been the recipe for success for you and partner Jason Coellner at PWCS?

Greg: Providing a quality product that is different from the rest has worked great for us. We advertised that we would be new and innovative, and I don’t think anyone has left a PWCS event saying, “Well that’s the same show I saw at ____”. We truly do offer a fun, alternative brand with substance in the ring.

9) This coming weekend PWCS returns to action. I understand that you have DVDs of the first season. Are they all done and ready for the fans to purchase and if so how much?

The DVDs are $10 ($15 for the Championship show , as it will be a 2 disc set)

Greg: Stages 1-3 are all currently available online at pwcswrestling.storenvy.com and at live events. It will be down to the wire, but we should have all those as well as the Championship Spectacular featuring Colt Cabana and Jimmy Jacobs at this Saturday nights event. Jason does a fantastic job on these along with our play by play man Drew Xzono Jr.

10) What should fans expect different this season at PWCS?

Greg: For starters, you’re going to get the return of one of the best wrestlers in the area this Saturday night, and if rumors are true he’s going to put the entire league on notice and on edge.

You’re also going to see a fourth regular season event this year. It internally being called the Wildcard Stage and will provide some fun matches as all four teams will mix it up and have one last shot to secure a spot in the 2015 Championship Spectacular.

And you never know what else might happen or who might show up. Thanks Brian for having me, and thank you to anyone who has supported the league so far.
