If you have been at a pro wrestling match in the St. Louis wrestling area then you are sure to have seen referee Eric Davis in the squared circle in some of the biggest matches of the past few years.

Both IHW and PWE knows that the men and women of the Midwest can be hard to keep in line so they have to call in one of the best to maintain order and that man is…Eric Davis

A special Main event Recap from MECW – Bailey Mannix is once again the Kingpin of MECW

Posted by flairwhoooooo on December 2, 2010

By Brian Kelley

Missouri Wrestling Revival could not miss the main event of MECW’S Championship match between Champion Eric Allen defending it against Bailey Mannix.

Not only was this a title match but it would be an 30 minute IRON Man match where whoever could score the most pin falls or submissions in that 30 minute time limit they would be the MECW Champion.

In the end there would be only one man to get the pin fall victory or make him submit.

Join me as I share with you a special MWR Main event exclusive brought to you from the find people at MECW.

Remember MECW returns this Saturday with their annual Toys for Tots drive.

Bring a $5.00 Toy get a child admission in for FREE.

The 2010 Missouri Wrestling Revival Awards are close at hand.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on December 1, 2010

It is hard to believe that 2011 is nearly upon us. What a year it has been around the Midwest. Exciting wrestlers delivering for you the fans some great match’s week in and week out.

We will announce out 2010 MWR Lifetime Achievement Award on January 1st 2011.

In 2008 the award was awarded to the greatest of the great when we honored Harley Race with the award.

In 2009 the lifetime achievement award went to the St. Louis’s Larry Matysik who worked closely with Sam Muchnick during the golden years of Wrestling at the Chase. Matysik is loved by the fans in St Louis to this day and the books that he has written has brought the past to today’s fans around the world.

We look forward to announce the 2010 MWR achievement award that is given to the given to a individual man or women who has made a positive impact on the world of Pro Wrestling in the Midwest during their lifetime.

In February we will announce the winners of the 2010 MWR awards in several categories.

After January 1st we will be taking nominations from the fans, promoters and even the wrestlers who should be on the ballot. When you are nominating please remember that it is best to give a paragraph or so to state your case of why you feel that person deserves. It could very well be the difference when the final vote is taken from the awards committee.

The promotions and their wrestlers that are a part of the MWR awards voting are as follows

3xwrestling
All American Pro Wrestling
High Voltage Wrestling
Independent Hardcore Wrestling
IWA Unlimited
Pro Wrestling Entertainment
Pro Wrestling Phoenix
Metro East Championship Wrestling
Metro Pro Wrestling
MMWA-SICW
New Midwest Wrestling
NWA Supreme
NWA Dynamo Pro Wrestling
World League Wrestling

Let’s take a look at each category

Wrestler

Winners
2008 Jeremy Wyatt
2009 Mark Sterling

Who do you feel had the year to be named the MWR Wrestler of the Year? In 2008 Jeremy Wyatt earned the title of The Belt Collector while holding onto a belt in almost every state that we cover.

In 2009 Mark Sterling would become the NWA Central States Champion while headlining big matches all over the Midwest.

Tag team

Winners
2008 The Northstar Express (Darin Corbin and Ryan Cruz)
2009 The Hooligans (Devin and Mason Cutter)

Tag Teams will always be special to my heart. Growing up with the greats of the 80’s such as the Road Warriors, the Midnight Express, the Horseman, and the Rock and Roll Express you never know what can happen in a match.

The first ever tag team of the year The Northstar Express bring to the ring fun filled , action packed double team action.

The Hooligans burst onto the scene and was truly dominate with their unorthodox and exciting attack

Female

Winners
2008 Stacey O’Brien
2009 MsChif

In 2008 Stacey O’Brien was on a roll dominating competition in WLW and MMWA-SICW on the way to becoming the very first MWR Female of the Year

In 2009 the women’s division on notice when MsChif was a triple crown champion. MsChif would take on the best in the Midwest and the world.

Match of the Year
This category is very hard to make the final vote on. With so many great matches throughout the year, it can be hard to determine truly which one is most deserving.

In 2008 it would be the battle between two of the very best when Jeremy Wyatt met Michael Strider in a no ropes barb wire match in a bloody but losing battle that fans have not forgotten. In my opinion this match would be the catalyst Jeremy Wyatt the momentum he needed to dominate the Midwest.

2009 Jeremy Wyatt would once again come up on the short end of the stick but once again brought the fans to their feet. In an epic battle Tyler Cook would give it all he had to defeat the man who was once his tag team partner.  A Midwest classic.

Promotion

2008 3XWrestling
2009 MMWA-SICW

In 2008 3Xwrestling was the standard for pro wrestling in the MWR coverage area. With great matches and a website that brought fans closer than they have ever been in the Midwest with their Outside the Ring gave them the edge they needed to be name the Promotion of the Year.

2009 was a historic year for MMWA-SICW. Celebrating the 50 Years at the Chase they were able to get great coverage in the ST LOUIS Dispatch, hosted several Hall of Famer’s and continued their stance as the most attended show in the MWR Coverage area throughout the year.

Who will win the 2010 MWR Awards? You will have a chance to have your voice heard so now is the time to think about who is the most deserving and be prepared to send your nominations in after the first of the Year.

Good luck to all

Golden Circle: The #1 Reaction!

Posted by flairwhoooooo on November 29, 2010

By Greg Anthony

True workers, not wrestlers, workers know that our jobs are to generate a response. We want people to react to what we present to them. What reaction is the most important. Do we want to make them laugh, cry, cuss. Which reaction do we want, do we need for wrestling to prosper? The answer.. Suspension of disbelief!

Whether you make someone laugh out loud, cry from joy or a church lady cuss like a sailor they all have one thing in common, suspension of disbelief. It is getting harder and harder in today’s wrestling to create this. However it can be done; It can be done with great storytelling and less a few bad habits wrestling has picked up.

Creating suspension of disbelief in wrestling has obstacles that other forms don’t have. Wrestling is based in reality or at least it is suppose to be. So when a wrestler does a move that is obviously impossible and lets face it, ridiculous then you take a step away from reality. I’ve gotten more out of a well placed right hand then some flashy move that didn’t make any sense.

No one can deny the power of wrestling and television. As great as this combo is, it has its own problems. I would much rather watch wrestling on television than a television show about wrestling. Understand? When two people are having a private conversation backstage and act oblivious to the camera 9 inches away, for me, it takes away from my suspension of disbelief.

Great suspension of disbelief moments like HBK vs Undertaker, Double A retirement speech, Horsemen breaking Dusty’s arm,

Eddie Gilbert running over Jerry Lawler with a car were all based in reality.

The people want to believe but we have to want them to believe to. We can’t take the easy road just because we can. We have to roll up our sleeves and do the work. Come up with creative, realistic ways to tell the stories rather than relying on a feather light opponent or an invisible camera man, I promise.
