2016 MWR Wrestler of the Year – Mike Outlaw / Dez Wellston

Posted by flairwhoooooo on January 16, 2017

1Mike Outlaw continued his rise to be one of the top young talents in the Midwest in 2016 by seeking out the toughest competition he could find. Starting the year off Outlaw challenged Brandon Espinosa in a hard core match before setting his sights to St. Louis Anarchy. Though Outlaw would struggle in the win department at SLA, he quickly earned the respect and love of their passionate fan base.

He would team up with Justin D’Air in a tag team classic at High Risk Wrestling against the Riegel Twins (Logan & Sterling) for the vacated Tag Team Championship. Due to the loss, the two friends quickly became enemies that were set for a brutal ending later in the year.

Outlaw, a former Dynamo Pro Wrestling Champion would set his sights on regaining the title against his archrival Jake Dirden. During this time he entered the WLW Jr. Championship tournament, losing to Jayden Fenix, who would go on to lose to Jon Webb in the finals.

In June, Outlaw would enter the High Risk Wrestling Mayhem tournament defeating Jake Dirden in the first round. In the triple threat finals, Outlaw won the championship over former PWI Rookie of the Year Ace Hawkins and Kiyoshi Shizuka.

In July, he challenged MWR Missouri Champion Brandon Espinosa at MMWA in a hard fought contest, just coming up short. Two weekends later, Outlaw earned the biggest win of his young career when he pinned Ring of Honor superstar Delirious. In August, Outlaw, would add his second Dynamo Pro Wrestling title to his resume by defeating Jake Dirden. A title he would hold until December when Brandon Aarons. Outlaw would end the year losing a thrilling last man standing match against D’air at High Risk Wrestling.

Outlaw would wrestle throughout the Midwest for Dynamo Pro, Saint Louis Anarchy, PWCS, MMWA, Proving Ground, WIA, New Breed Pro, Metro Pro, High Risk Wrestling and Pro Wrestling Resurgence . He would have killer matches with the likes of Davey Vega, Gary Jay and fellow young star Kevin Lee Davidson. His hard work would pay off as he now heads into 2017 as a full time NWL contracted superstar, now named Dez Wellston.

Tonight, history was made at the historic South Broadway Athletic Club as the monster known as Barackus locked in his powerful claw onto Brandon Espinosa, then slammed him hard onto the mat for the 1-2-3 from referee Jay King to become the third Missouri Wrestling Revival Missouri Champion.

We hope to have more details as they come in from the packed house at MMWA.

Congratulations to Barackus and best of luck to any wrestler that is brave enough to challenge the new Champion for the title in 2017.

2016 MWR Year Awards, Dartallion Allen Jr. and End of the MWR Yearbooks

Posted by flairwhoooooo on January 14, 2017

MWR_logo-cleaned_up

Hello MWR wrestling fans I would like to thank you for all of your support and friendship throughout the years. We have supported the men and women of pro wrestling with over 5, 500 post that have included the top news, photos, promos, results and show information for close to ten years for free. I have been so honored to have seen everyone wear a MWR T-shirt, hat and various other MWR merchandise at the shows,  as you have helped us afford to attend the shows to give you the best coverage for an area in this country.

I have some good news and some bad news. We will start out with the bad news so that I can end this post off on a good note. I have decided to end the run of the MWR Yearbooks. First off, thank you to so many of you for assisting with the book when asked upon and for each and every one of you that have added them to your collection. It can be very stressful to give equal coverage to all the promotions that support us within the book and most importantly the cost of the book is not cheap. The biggest obstacle that I have is amount of time to run the website and then editing a yearbook  that takes hours upon hours to publish a book filled with stories while trying to work full time job.

I have been very proud of the books and though I am biased, I feel as if it has been a true treasure of respect for everyone that we covered within the years. The good news is that if I can regroup and get refreshed I will plan on having a MWR book that will feature the complete results of this year with the top photos as well as fan photos. I just want to make sure that I have the passion to do a great book as I do not want to shortchange the MWR name. Still I believe that it is crucial to document the exciting action and results for each year so that the stars in this area are not forgotten as they seem to have been in the 80’s and 90’s.

Now for the good news. I am going to announcing the 2016 MWR Year in Awards starting this Monday. I will be honoring the following awards, Wrestler, Female, Tag Team, and two Future Stars one each day. I am proud to announce that our friend Dartallion Allen Jr, has been willing to honor the award winners with personal Dartallion Allen Jr. Top draw of each of them on the MWR site in the near future.
2017 looks to be an awesome year for the fans in the Midwest and we hope that you continue to keep up with your wrestling news through Missouri Wrestling Revival.

The WWE Hall of Fame manager Hart had his hands full on that night as SICW managers Travis Cook and Big Daddy was in the house to cause trouble throughout the night but before the action happened, let us catch up with the trio for an exclusive interview.
