The Hunt Comes To St. Louis! Ring of Honor returns July 23rd

Posted by flairwhoooooo on June 28, 2010

Straight from the Ring of Honor Website

ROH officials announced on June 1st (http://www.rohwrestling.com/news/bangforbucks/) that Generation Me (the former Young Bucks) were making their return to Ring of Honor competition on July 23rd and 24th in Collinsville, IL and Chicago Ridge, IL respectively.

Last night, ROH officials finalized the first of Max and Jeremy Buck’s opponents; a team that GenMe wanted to face more than any other in Ring of Honor, the men that beat them in their last Ring of Honor appearance at “SoCal Showdown” (available on DVD ) – Davey Richards and Eddie EdwardsThe American Wolves!

On that January night in Los Angeles, Eddie Edwards made Jeremy Buck tap out to the Achilles Lock and that loss has eaten up GenMe for months now. “We know in our hearts that we’re better than The American Wolves,” said Jeremy. “We know we can beat Eddie and Davey, and we know July 23rd will be our night.” Max added, “We have kept our eyes on Ring of Honor. We know Eddie and Davey have been wrapped up in their individual pursuits as of late and I know my brother and I have elevated our skills as a team to a whole new level. We are better than ever, and in St. Louis – Davey Richards’ adopted hometown mind you – we will prove that these young bucks, Generation Me, has always been the better team.”

ROH officials are still sorting through the contracts to determine who the Buck’s will face in Chicago and hope to have that match finalized early next week. But get your tickets for Collinsville now, right here, for ROH’s return to Collinsville, IL on 7/23/10! In addition to competing in that tag team contest, Generation Me will also be available for a special autograph signing starting at 7pm!

It’s Generation Me vs. The American Wolves! Don’t miss the cutting edge of tag team wrestling as it comes to the St. Louis area!

Blood Tables and Chairs “The Story of an independent Wrestler” Book Review

Posted by flairwhoooooo on June 27, 2010

By Brian Kelley

I just purchased the brand new book by Dennis T McHawes called Blood, Tables and Chairs and must admit that I could not put the book down. McHawes wrestled as one of the favorite Indy stars of the Midwest in the 90’s going by the name of the DRILL INSTRUCTOR.

I had the chance to see him wrestle several times in Boonville, Missouri with his tag team partner Johnny Jett for a promotion that I cannot recall and recall him becoming an important member of Harley Race’s World League Wrestling.
The books first words are ….. “ST Louis – The Checkerdome – 1982” and young Dennis is attending his very first wrestling match. He is excited and makes no qualms about it. McHawes does not deny that he was a fan of wrestling and because of that you find yourself cheering him on. The Drill Instructor would debut at the historic South Broadway Athletic club and Dennis goes into detail about how he went about getting his foot in the door.

Throughout the book, MWR readers will recognize some of the names that he worked with. The Magic Man, Trevor Murdoch, Rick Ruby, Matt Murphy, Pete Madden, Derek Stone and Steve Fender are all included as McHawes lets us in on his ups and downs in his career. Readers will also learn that during his time with Harley Race, McHawes had the opportunity of working and partying with wrestling stars like Meng, Abdullah and even the great Harley Race himself.

He continues to share stories of Koko B Ware and former NHL Star Tony Twist, gives a true insight of how it felt to share a dream with tag team partner and friend Johnny Jett, only to have life move them in opposite directions. You’ll learn about his opinion concerning certain promoters and what kind of advice not to take from the Iron Sheik.

His trips to working for WWE marked the highlights of this book for me. He lets his guard down for the readers, who are therefore able to truly feel how much he and other wrestlers wanted to impress.
You will also not want to miss his reflection on his relationship with Race. Most of us never get to work so closely and become friends with one of the greats. In all walks of life, you have friendships that have highs and lows. In the end you can really get a feel for how thankful McHawes is towards the people who helped him.

For only $12.00, I highly recommend that you purchase this book You can purchase it at Amazon.com

Golden Circle: Chemistry 101 By Greg Anthony

Posted by flairwhoooooo on June 25, 2010

Chemistry, to most people, is the science of matter. How molecules, atoms, etc react and interact with each other. In wrestling its pretty much the same thing except there is no science to it. In chemistry if you take part “A” and mix it with part “B” then it creates part “C”. In Wrestling if you take part “A” and mix it with part “B” sometimes you get part “C” but sometimes you get shit!

You never know, for sure, who is going to mesh well with who. Just because you have two great workers doesn’t mean you have a for sure 5 Star match(Rating system is a trademark of RRO News and Brian Tramel and may not be reproduced without the express written consent of RRO). Same goes for two not so great workers. I’ve seen two guys that really didn’t have much going for them but for some reason they gelled really well together. It’s a crap shoot; it’s the world letting us know that there are no guarantees in life.

Prime example, I saw Shawn Michaels vs. Mr.Perfect! How could that possibly be bad? They just didn’t get in a good groove and Shawn even mentions it in his book. Motley Cruz is a guy that I have a lot of respect for inside the ring. When I was TLCW champion we got a chance to work one another for the first time in a long time. We had high expectations but when we got to the match we both were waiting for the other to call the match or take the lead and it ended up being a very bland match.

Maybe wrestling isn’t as complex as advance chemistry but it isn’t kindergarten stuff either. There really isn’t a substitute for good chemistry in wrestling. Rock/Austin, Flair/Sting… the list goes on and on. Because it’s not the moves that we remember but the feeling we get from those who have immeasurable chemistry. So don’t watch for that forgettable high spot but rather that unforgettable feeling this business can produce on any given night.

After capturing his first PWE championship title, back in April, with an impressive victory over then United States Champion Mark Sterling, Brandon Aarons looks to prove that he is not just the flavor of the month in Pro Wrestling Epic.

Aarons looks to gain respect as he prepares for arguably the toughest challenge of his young career, when he steps into the ring with current Ring Of Honor World Champion, Tyler Black.

To followers of the independent professional wrestling landscape, Tyler Black is a staple, not only because of his present status in ROH, but also because of his legitimate claim to being one of the top pro wrestlers on the planet, having been ranked at #17 on Pro Wrestling Illustrated Magazine’s “PWI 500” in 2009.

While Brandon Aarons is not yet a household name across the globe, he has spent the better part of the last year, establishing himself one victory at a time defeating some of the best talent that the midwest has to offer.

Key wins over current NWA Central States Champion Mark Sterling,as well as Mike Sydal, (brother of WWE superstar Evan Bourne), both of whom he defeated for their respective titles, have helped to raise the stock of Brandon Aarons in Pro Wrestling Epic.

In addition to those accomplishments, Aarons is also the current flagship of Independent Hardcore Wrestling, having held the Heavyweight title since February.

Can his momentum carry him to the next level of what can only be decribed as his breakout year? Find out on June 26 in Mt. Pulaski.
