PWCS Draft Explained

Posted by flairwhoooooo on February 12, 2016

 photo 12605534_667341056702836_4046986937145577782_o_zpsshu9knfd.jpg

You may have heard that the first ever PWCS Draft is taking place ahead of this season! Greg Jovi is set to kick it off NEXT SATURDAY NIGHT in Granite City, IL with his announcement of the first overall pick,

But what exactly is the draft? How will it affect the league going forward! It’s time to finally spill the beans!

The PWCS Draft will, indeed, be an every off-season event! The league has put the draft in place for many reasons. Among them, it will set roster limits to prevent teams buying up as many mercenaries as possible. It will also allow teams to have a “bench” if you will, preventing last minute scrambling among other reasons.

Teams will now be required to keep their rosters at 6 wrestlers each. The PWCS Draft will be a supplemental draft, meaning teams will only pick until they have filled all 6 spots.

At the end of every season, if teams do not come to an agreement to re-sign their wrestlers or if the wrestler chooses to opt out of their team, they will enter the PWCS Draft Pool (EX: Jake Dirden being unable to come to terms with The Resurgence this season). Currently, the four team’s rosters are constructed as follows….

Submission Squad: Gary Jay, Pierre Abernathy, Evan Gellistico
Ego Busters: KC Karrington, Danny Adams, Adam Caster
Resurgence: Steven Kennedy, Mat Fitchett, Davey Vega
Blacklist: Makaze, JoJo Bravo, Jake Parnell, Alex Rudolph, Outtkast, and Mike Outlaw

As you can see, The Blacklist already have 6 wrestlers. They have mutually decided to part ways with Nate Redwing, as he explores options outside of PWCS. Makaze was quoted, “We are a band of brothers in the Blacklist. And I will not cut guys just to see if there are greener pastures out there. We stick together, its what has gotten us this far.”

So with the Blacklist filled up, that means the Ego Busters, Submission Squad, and Resurgence till need to round out their 2016 Rosters. The draft order will go in reverse of the 2015 Standings and will be as follows.

Pick #1: Ego Busters
Pick #2: Submission Squad
Pick #3: The Resurgence

The order will be repeated until all four teams have six wrestlers. And don’t worry, these “bench” wrestlers will not be sitting waiting for their time to shine. The league is already working on creative ways to make sure these guys stay fresh and get plenty of ring time.

Its an exciting time in PWCS! Be there NEXT SATURDAY! Tickets available at PWCSWrestling.com

Entrant #1 To The STLI: Mat Fitchett
While these entrants come in no particular order, it fair to say “Granite’s Favorite Son” would be deserving of a number one seed. Fitchett had a monster 2015 with PWCS despite what his 2-3 record may say. His start the 2015 season was plagued by run ins with his rivals in the Submission Squad, who cost Fitchett his partner a match at Stage One then stole a victory from the duo at Stage 2. The Squad even distracted Fitchett in the opening match of Stage 3 and cost him another loss.

But on that same night at Stage 3, Fitchett would start his path to revenge. He came to the aid of Zak Sawyers to even the odds against the Submission Squad. Fitchett gained a victory that night and never looked back. Fitchett defeated Sawyers at the Widcard Stage in a match of the year candidate and went on to be one of the sole survivors in the 2015 Championship Spectacular.

All the way, Fitchett put on an incredible performance each and every night. He fought through two matches with a dislocated shoulder, fought off the the Submission Squad, and still emerged a-top the PWCS ranks. We believe that more than grants him entry into the the first annual STLI All-Star Tournament.

2015 Missouri Wrestling Revival Wrestler of the Year Jeremy Wyatt

Posted by flairwhoooooo on January 1, 2016

 photo 00_zps9tbdnnpl.jpg

In 2015 many wrestlers in the Midwest deserved to win awards by having great matches, earning accolades and drawing big crowds all around the Midwest. That could not have been done if the talent was not delivering in the ring having fans counting the days till the next event.

Jeremy Wyatt first won the MWR Wrestler of the Year award in 2008 when he earned the nickname the Belt Collector by capturing belts throughout the Midwest. Since that time he has been in the running for the same award every year as he delivered excellent matches and built a fan base through cheers and hate throughout the Midwest.

In 2015, Jeremy Wyatt once again filled the arenas with historic matches and feuds while being showcased in 23 main events in 5 of the MWR promotions including his home of Kansas City, as well as Des Moines, Iowa, Granite City, Illinois and Council Bluffs Iowa.

His feud with Metro Pro Wrestling commissioner Michael Strider has lead to huge matches with the likes of Christopher Daniels, Matt Striker, Ricky Cruz, Christian Rose, Ace Steel and has involved Jim Cornette to  help spearhead wrestling back to life in Kansas City. He represented 3XW as their champion against the like of Rory Fox while  feuding with his often friend/rival Mark Sterling in a dog collar ladder No DQ match and an 80 Minute Iron Man match, while facing Hype Gotti in a loser leaves PWP match in July.

In St. Louis, Wyatt found himself drawing red hot heat from the fans at St. Louis Anarchy and PWCS as he battled Colt Cabana while testing his skills against KC Karrington, Makaze,  & Steven Kennedy in the main events.

There is talks that Jeremy Wyatt is close to calling it a career, but if anything is clear it is that his impact on the MWR Coverage area is still being felt in 2015 and beyond.

Past MWR Wrestlers of the Year Winners

2014 Ricky Cruz
2013 Jake Dirden
2012 Adam Pearce
2011 Brandon Espinosa
2010 Mike Sydal
2009 Mark Sterling
