Dubi meets the New Midwest Wrestling Fans October 2010

Posted by flairwhoooooo on November 16, 2010

By Dubray Tallman

Hello wrestling fans I have returned once again to NMW for the wildly popular”Dubi Meets the Fans” . The night was so full of fast paced action that I got so busy that I did not catch up to the young fan that caught the MWR shirt worn by NMW rising star Christian Rose, but Brian was able to snap a shot of the boy shortly after it happened.

Can it get any better than catching a ring worn MWR shirt from one of the stars of the Midwest?

I first met two fans that were front and center to see wrestling live up close and personal, and both were big fans of “The Appex” Blake Steel. Gary Callahan and Mark Lavigne was able to catch up with Steel.

Blake Steel will need his fans this Saturday when he meets his former partner Eric Ruffington.

Also in the front row were three young boys Austin, AJ and Dawson who were pumped up to see their favorite wrestler enter the battle royal later that night. That man was the big man Sage Ramsey.

3 Sage Ramsey Superfans

Ramsey would take the time prior to the show to pose with the young fans, later he would be face to face with the dangerous Dixieland Destoryer, but he would have the fans on his side as another set of fans wanted their picture taken with him as Bri and Denise Williams and Brooke McAllister from Springfield Illinois posed with the popular NMW star.

I have been told that New Midwest Wrestling have been having a surge of young stars coming to the promotion to make their mark. You may have seen NMW Superstar Bobby Houston call out all of these hard working men here at MWR, one of the men is called the Young Thriller. The Young Thriller had two young ladies in attendance to see him in action. Samantha and Sabrina from Edinbury Illinois got to have their chance to pose with the Young Thriller.

The Young Thriller has won the hearts of the young girls in a short amount of time at NMW.

One of Brian’s favorite wrestlers was also Jeff Grace’s as well, the exciting Ryan Phoenix. Grace from Riverton,m Illinois. Thankfully was able to get his picture with Phoenix before the matches began and why I say that is because during his match with Eric Logan, Logan viciously DDT’D Phoenix from the ring to the unforgiving floor. When we caught up with Phoenix later that night he was still reeling from the blow.

Ryan Phoenix will go for the NMW Championship this Saturday in the Main event.

One guy that has impressed us at NMW ever since we saw him earlier this year for the first time and that is Rip Mystic. Mystic a veteran at NMW has his fair share of fans and three of them are Samantha, Austin and Sara.

Rip Mystic

I would like to thank the New Midwest Wrestling and their fans for being a part of this edition of Dubi Meets the fans.

MWR Fans please join me in Jerseyville Illinois for Independent Hardcore Wrestling for a new Dubi Meets the fans and see the new IHW Champion Sean Vincent go one against the man he beat for the title Brandon Aarons plus a rematch between the “Future” Donovan Ruddick and Mephisto.

MWR interviews New Midwest Wrestling stars prior to November Reign coming this Saturday

Posted by flairwhoooooo on November 14, 2010

The action from last months New Midwest Wrestling’s October BRAWLTOBERFEST show was filled with so much action that we had to put the card in two photo recaps. ( if you missed photo recap number one then click here….if you missed photo recap number two click here)

Now MWR has exclusive words from four of the five men involved in the main event for the NMW Title currently held by Jonathan Magnus with Ryan Phoenix, Eric Logan, Michael Shard and Dan the Man all involved in the match to decide who will be THE man in NMW.

Lets get words from the Champion Jonathan Magnus with his manager Stephanie King.

The man with momentum going into this match has to be the Eric Logan. At BRAWLTOBERFEST Logan took out Ryan Phoenix with a DDT from the outside of the ring to the floor. Logan was sure to be sending a message to all that he will stop at nothing to get the belts around his waist.

Ryan Phoenix has the heart of a champion and he will need that and much more if he can bounce back to defeat Magnus, DTM, Michael Shard and the man who knocked him out Eric Logan. Lets here from this talented up and comer Ryan Phoenix.

If fans get their wish it will be their favorite super Hero Dan the Man overcome the odds and walk out with the title. MWR’S Dubray Tallman caught up with the masked hero.

Also on the card will be two true grudge matches that you will not want to miss.

First it will be a Civil War when the former tag team Feature Presentation partners Eric Ruffington and Blake Steel go at it tooth and nail. The time for talking has long passed where two men who were like brothers look to leave the other one down and out once and for all.

Lets hear from “The Appex” Blake Steel

Also set to go will be two of the biggest men in the Midwest….The Dixieland Destroyer vs. Sage Ramsey. This could get ugly in a hurry!!

—-

New Midwest Wrestling Tag Team Championships
(c)Attitude Inc’s Spencer Powers and Michael Shard vs The Full Metal Jackals (Danny Cannon and Alex Castle)

The Jackals have impressed recently, especially with their showing in July’s big Tag Scramble. Now, they have the opportunity to prove themselves once more as the current champions look to establish their reign.

—-

Scott Keyes vs Matt Cage

Scott Keyes was impressive in his debut last month at CUTTING EDGE. However, he came up just short of winning. The New Midwest Wrestling Office took note of the crowd’s immediate acceptance and decided to give Keyes another opportunity. Matt Cage is a traveled Midwest wrestling star, who has always wanted a crack at New Midwest Wrestling. It’s put up or shut up time for these two new faces in New Midwest!

Who’s House??? The Mississippi Madman owns PWE and we speak to US Champ Blake Steel.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on September 14, 2010

The Mississippi Madman (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

Straight from the Pro Wrestling Epic Website

A NEW Pro Wrestling Epic champion was crowned at the Lincoln Art & Balloon Festival, as The Mississippi Madman defeated “The Future” Donovan Ruddick to become only the third recognized PWE Champion to date. The victory however, comes not without controversy, as the Madman was awarded the championship after a reverse decision by a second referee. Outside interference was a factor throughout the match up, with Ruddick’s manager Mr. Late Nite providing the distraction, even becoming physically involved. At one point, after delivering a chokeslam to “Future”, the Madman seemingly had the match, and the PWE title at hand, however after only a two count Mr. Late Nite grabbed the foot of the official, pulling him out of the ring.

Under normal circumstances, anyone becoming involved in a match, other than the scheduled competitors, would have warranted an automatic disqualification, however since the championship was vacant, the official allowed the match to continue. With referee Eric Davis tied up with Late Nite on the outside, “The Future” was able to capitalize, and hit The Madman with a “low-blow” assisting him with the 123.

Just as the announcement was being made that Ruddick had won the match, and the championship, a second referee emerged from the locker room, informing Davis of what had transpired behind his back. The decision was immediately reversed, and the title awarded to your NEW Pro Wrestling Epic Champion the Mississippi Madman!

While both Ruddick, and Late Nite have filed a dispute with Pro Wrestling Epic officials, we have been informed that the referee’s decision will stand.

Any further updates or developments on this situation, as well as information on upcoming PWE events will be posted here first.

Missouri Wrestling Revival was thrilled to get this exclusive interview with the new PWE Champion the Mississippi Madman after his big victory against Ruddick.

MMWA-SICW Open Door tryouts rundown from Patrick Brandmeyer with photos from Mike Van Hoogstraat.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on August 29, 2010

Editors Note: Last week MMWA-SICW open their doors literly to all aspiring wrestlers to have the chance to work with the 2009 MWR Promotion of the Year.

MMWA-SICW has five shows in the works for September and in 2010 fans have had the pleasure to see Donovan Ruddick, Brandon Espinosa, Ace Hawkins, Mark Sterling and most recently Mephisto make their way to the promotion.

I am sad to say that I was unable to attend due to prior commitments but I knew that MWR fans would have a great look into the happenings of this historic event thanks to Pro Wrestling expert Patrick Brandmeyer being able to attend as well as MWR Photographer Mike Van Hoogstraat.

I now give you Patrick and Mike with the rundown on the Open door tryouts.

Which one of these aspiring wrestlers and personalities will make a mark in the future at MMWA-SICW?(Photo credit Mike Van Hoogstraat)

I’ve been fortunate to get fairly close to the local wrestling scene…case in point, being invited by Tim Miller to the MMWA-SICW tryout in East Carondelet this past Thursday. Saw several familiar faces in attendance as well as some Broadway trainees and some out-of-towners.

Some of the familiar faces for MWR fans and new one lined up to speak to Keith Smith, Tim Miller and Jim Harris (Photo credit Mike Van Hoogstraat)

The main Broadway representatives were Tim himself, Keith Smith, and referee Jim Harris. They laid out what Broadway has to offer: Exposure in a great wrestling market in front of good audiences, as well as T.V. time(via their local-access program) and a decent payday. Broadway is stepping up their schedule in a major way in September, so the roster will be expanding in the near future…September has the usual shows at South Broadway and East Carondelet as well as their debut in Hillsdale, MO and a return to Fairmont City. The injured A.J. Williams was also in attendance as well as Ace Hawkins.

They had one interviewer/commentator tryout named Ben Simon who did a fine job and will apparently be at their East Carondelet show this weekend.

Blake Steel is one of the best promo men in the sport today, it was no surprise that he was dead on in showing his skills.(Photo credit Mike Van Hoogstraat)

Ben Simon was impressive in his effort to win a spot as a professional announcer, here he gets words from Ian Storm (Photo credit Mike Van Hoogstraat)

Keith asked why I didn’t try out for that spot…and I didn’t really have a good answer for him. Haven’t gotten behind that particular microphone since the GCW days and wouldn’t mind doing it again sometime!

Those in attendance got a chance to prove themselves behind a microphone and also in the ring. The trainees practiced in the ring with Johnny Courageous while those with more experience under their belt had full-fledged matches with the likes of Courageous, Brandon Espinosa, and Sean Vincent.

Former MMWA-SICW manager The Magic Man is always entertaining and I have him hoping for his return to the promotion for some time now. (Photo credit Mike Van Hoogstraat)

The Magic Man was in the house and did a classic promo to kick things off…

Was good to see former GCW competitor Ian Storm in the house as well as Springfield IL’s Blake Steel.

Former GCW wrestler Ian Storm gets the upperhand on one of the Midwest top Wrestlers Brandon Espinosa while Ref Eric Davis looks on. (Photo credit Mike Van Hoogstraat)

Not so fast Storm, what you dish out the talented Espinosa will give you that and more. (Photo credit Mike Van Hoogstraat)

Is Eric Allen the best wrestler in Illinois? That is what he will tell you.(Photo credit Mike Van Hoogstraat)

Sean Vincent catches Allen and lets him know about it. (Photo credit Mike Van Hoogstraat)

Could moments like this lead to a big feud at MMWA-SICW in the future? My money is on the fact that Steel will not forget Espinosa actions during the tryout.(Photo credit Mike Van Hoogstraat)

Also saw a couple of guys who have flown under the local radar to some extent, Kurt Styles and Rick Stone. One of the more decorated local grapplers was in the house as Eric Allen sought to add another notch to his resume.

A group from Jefferson City arrived later in the tryout…some did better than others.
Espinosa was quick to let one of them know about an early mistake in their practice matchup.

New faces try their hand at the very difficult skill of wrestling.(Photo credit Mike Van Hoogstraat)

Critiques followed each matchup in the hopes that each wrestler would learn and work to improve. Vincent had a good short sprint with one of the Jeff City upstarts who went by “Bill Murray”(no relation).

Keith Smith and Herb Simmons have seen it all in their many years in the business, they watch the proceedings with a close eye for future talent. (Photo credit Mike Van Hoogstraat)

I’m always open to a learning experience and I feel like I’ve learned more in the past few years of wrestling viewing than at any other time in my nineteen(!) years of following the industry. I have all the respect in the world for anyone who steps in a wrestling ring because I couldn’t do what they do. I don’t think lack of in-ring experience disqualifies a person completely from having an opinion about wrestling…though I suppose I would respect the opinion of a wrestler over a non-wrestler.

Look for recaps from both of the shows that MMWA-SICW had in August in the near future at MWR.
