3XWrestling Welcomes National Wrestling Stars
Iowa’s Top Wrestling Company Hosts WWE Veterans

DES MOINES, Iowa – Des Moines-based 3XWrestling (3XW) is proud to announce the addition of two national wrestling stars to its Clobberpalooza Classic II event on Sept. 18 at the Des Moines Social Club.

Former World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) superstar Al Snow, a widely-known veteran of professional wrestling and multiple-time champion, has signed to compete in the main event of 3XW’s Clobberpalooza Classic II. Snow will challenge “The Rebel” Jeremy Wyatt, the 2008 Missouri Wrestling Revival “Wrestler of the Year,” for the 3XW Heavyweight championship in one of the year’s most anticipated matches.

Snow is most famous for being a major WWE fan favorite a decade ago, when WWE television shows were reaching record cable television ratings. He’s also known outside of wrestling for being the star and head trainer on MTV’s WWE Tough Enough for three seasons and being a playable character in millions of copies of WWE video games sold.

“I have been saying for months and months and months I am the best wrestler in the Midwest,” Wyatt said. “WWE star Al Snow is coming to take my title? Well, you see, I’m Jeremy Wyatt – superstar. I have beaten star after star after star. I’ve beaten Christopher Daniels, Jerry Lynn, Davey Richards, Sonjay Dutt, Tyler Black…the list goes on and on.”

Will Snow make a huge impact and win the 3XW Heavyweight title or will Wyatt continue his dominance of the Midwest wrestling scene? Wrestling fans are anxiously waiting to find out on Sept. 18 at Clobberpalooza Classic II.

Also set for action is current TNA Wrestling and former WWE superstar “The Middle Eastern Nightmare” Sheik Abdul Bashir, who will team with his brother Arya Daivari to challenge The High Flyers, “The Unbreakable” Zach Thompson and Mike Sydal – brother of current WWE superstar Evan Bourne – for the 3XW Tag Team championship.

Bashir, a former TNA X-Division champion, can be seen weekly wrestling some of the quickest and hardest-hitting wrestlers in the world on Spike TV’s popular TNA iMPACT! television program.

He’s also famous for his time in WWE as Khosrow Daivari, where he battled the likes of wrestling legends Hulk Hogan, The Undertaker and “The Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels. In fact, he pinned Michaels in a match on WWE’s flagship television program Monday Night RAW.

The 3XW Tag Team championship match at Clobberplaooza Classic II marks the first time Bashir teams with his brother Arya, who is a regular member of the 3XW roster, to compete on a 3XW event.

Among those also competing on Sept. 18 are 3XW Cruiserweight champion and the 2009 King of Des Moines “The Rockstar” Jimmy Rockwell, “Delicious” Devin Carter, Casanova, Gage Octane, Mark Sterling, Maddog McDowell, Krotch, “The Canadian Sex Icon” Ryan Slade, A.J. Smooth, “The Right Price” Aaron Masterson, “The Asian Sensation” Ricky Kwong, “Torturous” Tony Sly, and more!

Doors open at 7 p.m. for a 7:30 p.m. start time. The Des Moines Social Club is located at 1408 Locust St. in Des Moines.

Founded in 2005, 3XWrestling, a Des Moines-based organization, has performed in front of thousands of fans across Iowa and been featured on Iowa Public Radio and in publications including Juice and Cityview. 3XW events are held monthly in Des Moines.

3XW and its performers are also heavily involved with charity work – a recent 3XW benefit event in Ottumwa, Iowa featuring one-legged wrestling star Zach Gowen raised over $10,000 to help the family of a young man whose leg was amputated due to his battle with cancer. All proceeds from the event we’re given to the family to offset medical costs, with every wrestler performing on a volunteer basis.

Isaan Hadeev reaches pinnacle of career

Posted by reimaginejournalism on September 4, 2009

By Kari Williams

Isaan Hadeev reached the pinnacle of his career July 19 in Danville, IL as he successfully battled Nick Cutler and DaCobra in a triple threat match to emerge with the New Breed Wrestling Alliance (NBWA) Heavyweight Championship. The moment he won the belt, Hadeev “silently thank[ed] [his] son and mother for the strength to continue and be the best in the NBWA.”

Hadeev views his championship victory as the be-all, end-all for his professional career.

“Being the NBWA Heavyweight Champion [is my greatest accomplishment] because that is where I started, and that is where I will finish,” said Hadeev.

Mississippi Madman, a six-year veteran in the Midwest, has high hopes for Hadeev, who Madman has crossed paths with on a number of occassions.

“He will make a great nbwa champion. He is a great in ring technician and [has] great charisma,” said Madman.

Although his desire to become a wrestler developed many years ago, Hadeev did not have the means to do so until he apporached NBWA Owner Don Kato after a show in 2006. His training started the following week. Despite his aspirations, he limited his ambitions for the sake of his family.

“I decided I wanted to wrestle back in 1996 but never had a venue till several years ago. When I started wrestling I wanted to do it full time, but my career outside the ring along with family are much more important,” said Hadeev.

Hadeev values spending time with his family over taking his career to a higher level, as in WWE or TNA. He considers his wife, Angelita, and his children, Austin and Jennifer, far more important. Photo courtesy of Isaan Hadeev

He restricts his travel, somewhat, due to caring for his family but still works for NBWA, All American Pro Wrestling (AAPW) and IWA Productions. While in NBWA, Hadeev had the chance to wrestle “The Japanese Nightmare” Kahagas in the Alberta J. Murray Tournament June 21.

“I would have to say my [favorite] match [was] with the Japanese Nightmare Kahagas because there is no other man in this business today who can match stiffnes, viciousnes and brutality like he and I do. I still want a rematch,” said Hadeev.

Kahagas was unable to comment on the match due to the absence of a translator, however, Hadeev clarifies that he and The Tokyo Monster “really didn’t wrestle each other, we literally just beat the hell out of each other.”

Cutler can testify to Hadeev’s statement, having gone to battle with him only a few months ago.

“Issan is by far one of the toughest guys I have worked with. Physically, me and him match up pretty evenly, but there is a ferociousness about him that I haven’t experienced with anyone else I have worked with,” said Cutler.

NBWA Wrestler Aaron Matthews has been wrestling for five years and has crossed paths with Hadeev on a number of occassions. Matthews’ favorite match was Hadeev’s debut match.

Less than a month after going to battle with “The Japanese Nightmare,” Hadeev walked out of the triple threat NBWA Title match riding high. Perhaps some of what lead to Hadeev’s victory had to do with the way he “get[s] inside the heads of the wrestling fans and the wrestler himself”—his favorite part of wrestling.

“I have not had the opportunity to defend the championship since I just recently attained it, but, in all honesty, I don’t believe I will defend it anytime soon since: One, the fans don’t deserve to see a true talent like myself perform; they are not privelaged enough. And two, there is no single wrestler in NBWA or central Illinois who can match strength, skill and wits with me,” said Hadeev.

Because his love for family outweights his love for wrestling, Hadeev remains content with his current position as the top dog in NBWA.

“What are every wrestlers dreams? To make it to WWE or TNA. But I am a realist and realize that will never happen for me as I choose family over being away 300 days a year. But I know if I focused 100% I would make it,” said Hadeev.

With the help of Kato, “Bloody” Harker Dirge and Corleone, among others, Hadeev has had the opportunity to make his dreams come true, while putting his family first.

The Golden Cirlce: Creating a Vocabulary By Greg Anthony

Posted by flairwhoooooo on August 28, 2009

Straight from rasslinriotonline.com

Among the many tasks of running a wrestling company, between finding great talent and producing a worthwhile product their is something that few even think about and that’s creating a vocabulary. Creating a vocabulary for your show, especially in television, is essential to making a wrestling promotion successful. WWE are masters at creating a phrase or reinventing a word that assures every time you hear it you think of a specific person or the product as a whole. Announcers play a huge role is this process, its not that they say it once, they say it every week. To a different degree or variation but they build a wrestling vocabulary.

It helps that WWE has the greatest announcer of all time in Jim Ross. I hope if Jim Ross ever retires that he is still kept on salary to call in once a week and coach young announcers on this irreplaceable gift. Phrases like “educated feet”, “broken in half” and “tougher than a $2 steak” are just scratching the surface of good ol’ JR’s contributions to the wrestling dictionary. If you notice the word wrestler is never used on WWE tv, but is instead replaced by WWE Superstar or sports entertainer. Those are an intentional choice of words. Sometimes creating a wrestling vocabulary isn’t about what you do say but rather what you don’t say.

Certain words have been used to further describe a superstar’s persona. Calling Steve Austin “Stone Cold” was a perfect compliment to his character but adding “The Texas Rattlesnake” provoked a deliberate visual that furthered Austin’s image when we didn’t think that was possible. Triple H has been working on top in WWE for sometime now ,and if being called “The Game” wasn’t enough to convey his ability in this business, but the term “Cerebal Assasian” was a perfect fit. Telling the story that some may be bigger or faster but none will be smarter in between those ropes. When “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair was live in living color in front of television camera and said that he was “The Dirtiest Player in the Game” and talked about “Space Mountain” and the limosines, jets and kissing all the girls he was creating a vocabulary. He was probably telling the truth as well but creating terms and phrases that are used in the business to this day.

Even on our level, trying to catch a big break, some of the most successful are those who create a vocab about themselves. I wanted the TLCW championship to be considered the top title in this area, so when I said I was in the best company, with the best talent and that made me “The Best of the Best” it became a piece of wrestling vocabulary in this area. When you hear “I’m Derrick, by God, Greater then Great, King…1…2…3… DAMMIT” he created another aspect to his character. Or when Dustin Starr decided to add a number in the middle of his name. Guys really need to sit down and try to brainstorm to come up with things that can enhance their character.

It would be impossible to list all of the contributions that people have made relating to this aspect of the business. Atleast impossible for me in an bi-weekly article. But even as I finish up phrases like “One legged man in an ass kicking contest” and “Genetic Jackhammer” are dancing through my head. I guess what I’m trying to point out is its not just about watching the product but also listening to the product. So eyes and EARS open and you will learn more than bargain for, I promise and when “The Golden Boy” Greg Anthony makes a promise its as good as gold.

—-Greg Anthony is a regular on the local area circuit. He won RRO Booker of the Year 2008 and is listed in the top 5 of the RRO Top 10 2008. Greg is currently working as booker of NEW and can be seen tagging with legend Bobby Eaton and Brian Thompson as “Midnight Gold”.

Editor’s Desk…

By Josh Ray

Here is another edition of the Editor’s Desk, where I cover a lot of ground in the area’s pro wrestling community with one column!

The man that calls himself Mad Conservative Crimefighter has posted a review of a show that happened at the Illinois State Fair this month.  It’s a harsh review, and can be read here.  I’m not really a fan of calling a wrestling organization “Intergalactic”, mainly because you can’t really take that word seriously unless it refers to a science fiction book or movie, but other than that it doesn’t seem like the organization was fully prepared to put on a show that would leave a good taste in anybody’s mouth.  Organizations should try to put their best foot forward, and I am left wondering how much the promoter was paid to put on a subpar show…  and how much profit was made.

Recent discussions continued about the attendance at a Pro Wrestling Next show in which Drake Younger, the champion of a top-tier independent wrestling organization (Combat Zone Wrestling), defended his title against Hunter Matthews.  PWN officials reported a low draw of approximately 40 people, but other reports had the attendance at less than half of that number.  Regardless of the draw, the show delivered some great action…  and that is something that gets lost in the shuffle sometimes by smart marks and even “smarter” marks (wrestlers and promoters).  Hooligans vs Submission Squad and Drake Younger vs Hunter Matthews?    I can’t see anybody complaining with that.  I think the argument should be how best to promote shows so that there are more in attendance.  Sometimes, less shows or more time between shows to do the proper leg work are all thats needed.

Missouri Wrestling Revival has conditionally accepted a buyout offer that will be mutually beneficial for all involved.  An announcement will be forthcoming when final details are hammered out.  The MWR staff is excited about a new opportunity and will make the November 14th show in Granite City, IL one to remember as a celebration of nearly two years of “Giving Back to Midwest Pro Wrestling”.  Kari, Brian, and I have given as much as we can in this capacity to the local wrestling scene, but will continue to be involved in pro wrestling!  Come to the MWR show on November 14th and witness a show that you will not soon forget!

As a new chapter begins for Missouri Wrestling Revival, one closes for the successful IWA Mid South promotion.  Attendence had dropped off recently and one can assume that DVD sales dropped due to the economy.  Signs of the organizations troubles surfaced, in my humble opinion, when they began making more money off of hopeful wrestlers than fans in attendance, but the idea of tryout matches in front of Ian Rotten, Mickie Knuckles, and a live audience is an idea that should be commended.  I personally wish all involved with IWA Mid South the best, and hope to see them successful in wrestling again in the near future!

Dragon Gate USA runs a much anticipated show in Chicago in less than two weeks on September 6th!  Since the announcement of the event months ago, I have personally attempted  to secure spots on the show for some of the best wrestlers in the MWR coverage area, but a deal has not been reach as of press time.

Independent Hardcore Wrestling has a show scheduled for September 5, 2009 in Dupo, IL (VFW Hall – 200 N. Fifth Street).  The last show was highly regarded, and this show features an excellent matchup between Brandon Aarons and Harker Dirge that is sure to be great!

Be on the lookout for more news as it happens right here at http://www.MissouriWrestlingRevival.com!
