Turner Rec Center

Fans entered the building to receive free NWL KC T-shirts, bumper stickers, and merchandise. They were also welcome to come to the NWL booth to sign up for NWL e-mail updates and purchase tickets for the Jan 7th debut of the NWL at the Scottish Rite Temple .

Chris Gough thanked everyone for their support throughout the years including the fans, wrestlers Turner Rec Staff and Metro Pro Wrestling crew.

He introduced the NWL owner Major Baisden. Baisden welcomed everyone to come out and support NWL in both KC and STL as they are looking to take wrestling in the Midwest to a new level. He then asked to have Metro Pro Wrestling Commissioner Michael Strider to come to the ring. Baisden addressed the near riot at St. Louis Anarchy in November that was led by Strider and fellow NWL KC. Baisden had told Strider NOT to go to STL on that night and for interrupting Davey Vega’s title belt celebration with the chaos, he was FIRED.

Major Baisden then told Strider that he had reinstated Jeremy Wyatt.

NWL, LLC Announces Plans to Open State-of-the-Art Training & Performance Center

Posted by flairwhoooooo on December 1, 2016

gi_59126_alistair_16-11-28_20786The National Wrasslin’ League (NWL, LLC) has announced plans to open its Training & Performance Center (TPC), a 10,000-square-foot facility designed to help talent reach peak physical conditioning and train prospective wrestlers.

“This state-of-the-art center will enable NWL talent to continually hone their in-ring craft and get in the best shape of their lives through an extensive training and nutrition program,” says Major Baisden, NWL president. “The NWL TPC will also contain a fully equipped studio for shooting interviews and video features with talent appearing on NWL events in Kansas City and St. Louis.”

Opening in February 2017 at 105 E 18th Avenue in North Kansas City, the NWL TPC will be equipped by Sorinex, a leading provider of strength-training equipment to college and professional sports teams, including more than 90% of the NFL. Other amenities will include a pro-style locker room and clubhouse for NWL wrestlers as well as a competition ring for performers and prospective talent to train.

Derek Stone, a ring veteran who has wrestled throughout the world since beginning his career in 1993, will serve as training director at the NWL TPC. Rob Messerli, a NASM, CSCS and Precision Nutrition certified trainer, will oversee the daily training and recovery of the League’s athletes in his role as strength and conditioning coach.

“Stone and Messerli are experts in their respective fields who can help take the League’s performers to the next level,” Baisden says. “The TPC will prove invaluable as NWL KC and NWL STL continue to attract talent from across the country.”

Under Stone’s direction, the TPC will also offer novice and advanced wrestling schools twice a year for a limited number of qualified candidates, along with occasional clinics for experienced pros. Open tryouts for the wrestling school will be held on the following dates, with prospective students only required to attend one day: Dec. 10–11; Jan. 14–15; and Feb. 11–12.

The end of an era will happen this coming Saturday in Alton, Illinois as St. Louis Anarchy will have their last event this coming Friday In Alton, Illinois . The National Wrasslin’ League (NWL, LLC) has acquired them with exciting events scheduled in 2017 (more details here).

If you have not been with MWR for the past 8 plus years you may have not known that the SLA foundation was built through a promotion called the Lethal Wrestling Alliance. The LWA featured a group of men and women that had the passion and work ethic to provide the fans with an exciting and fresh style of wrestling. This grass roots promotion offered an opportunity for many of the rising stars in the area to excell against several stars around the country, several of them that  would go onto star in the main event of Wrestlemania.

Throughout the years the LWA would feature hardcore matches, comedy, wrestling classics and memories that shaped the sport in St. Louis for this generation and years to come. The transition from the LWA to the promotion now known as St. Louis Anarchy would find huge success in their home of Alton, Illinois with double shots on Friday and Saturday in front of some of the best fans in the country.

SLA will forever hold a place in my heart due to the  wonderful fans that came to the events for all those years in an unforgettable atmosphere. The above photo is one of my personal favorites, an early LWA event in House Springs as we tailgated prior to a show where we enjoyed delicious food, beer and great friends. I have always loved to see the Lacey and Jackson family as well and supporting the hard working men and women that gave their blood sweat and tears for the fans and the sport that we love.

I would like to encourage all of my friends that we have met in the past to make their way to Alton, Illinois this Friday for one last memory of St. Louis Anarchy and if you have never experienced SLA then please come out to be a part of history as I expect this to be a night to never forget.

Congrats from MWR to everyone at SLA for their success as they look to make the NWL a huge success in 2017.
