“Volatile” Curtis Wylde returns to the ring March 27th IHW

Posted by flairwhoooooo on March 11, 2010

By Curtis Wyled

My Life in Wrestling”

Some people dabble into their interests. Many people have some sort of hobby. Then there are others that are plagued by OBSESSIONS, and in Professional Wrestling is where I found an obsession.

Some of my earliest memories as a child were of wrestling with a pillow in my grandmothers living room after my morning fix of WWF Superstars(?) and World Class Championship Wrestling (I always turned it off after the open of WKRP in Cinncinati) I would not only put on matches with my over-sized pillow… I would commentate, announcer, ref, handle sound for both myself and my “opponent” AND I would RECORD IT. I still have a cassette tape of one of these sessions. I was cutting promos on PY Chu Hi, Skandar Akbar, “Rock n Roll” Buck Zumhoff, and others. I was 5-6 years old.

At 9, My Mom remarried, and we moved to Horn Lake, MS. Which was roughly 15min. drive from the TV station that USWA held their weekly tapings and a 20ish minute drive to MidSouth Colliseum for the BIG shows. Both of which I forced my parents to take me to constantly. When Jerry Lawler was THE KING, and Jeff Jarrett was opening doors.

In ’95-’96, ECW began to peak my interest once again. And I, like many do, wasted precious time screwing around with my friends in a yard imitating what we saw. Until, a friend of mine took me to Sam DeCero’s Windy City Pro Wrestling, and I saw a possible way into ECW. Though, it was alittle over a year later before I began actively searching out a school in my price range. I found Powerhouse Championship Wrestling in Spring Valley, IL. which was nearly 3 hours away from where I lived, Danville, IL. Luckily, they had a pair of brothers/students who had been training a couple months that happened to live nearby, and would let me ride with them to training. Those guys became The Phoenix Twins. I became Wyldechylde.

Taking Wyldechylde to Five States, 20+ organizations, having the fortune to work in front of numerous fans, on TV in 3 major cities, and to meet some of the people I idolized growing up. There were times I would work 3 times in one weekend, but that and being able to hangout with guys like Bundy, Funk, Snuka, Hawk and Animal, Iron Sheik, Jerry Lynn… was a dream come true.

The time came when I needed to step away to concentrate on… well life, love, and the other stuff. I became a bouncer at a nightclub just outside of St. Louis (Wild Country), I was then a special events Master of Ceremonies (and bouncer). I’ve promoted my own non-wrestling entertainment events to mixed success, and have managed a local band for over two years. All of which allowed me a fun lifestyle, good times, and great memories.

BUT THEY DIDN’T TOUCH WRESTLING…

There is absolutely NOTHING on this PLANET that can even come CLOSE to the adrenaline rush you get from performing on a professional wrestling show. I can’t fight the fact that I am a junkie, and wrestling… is my fix.

That said, I have been slowly training for an in-ring return for the last few months, and the time for that return has come. March 27th in Waterloo, IL. for IHW’s “Wrestling for a Cure” event where all proceeds from this event will be donated to St. Judes Children’s Hospital in the name of Dax Locke a two year old boy from Washington, IL suffering from leukemia. I hope that everyone will come out to witness my return after over 2 1/2 years in support of this great cause.

Pro Wrestling Phoenix on Saturday Night March 13th!!!

Posted by flairwhoooooo on March 10, 2010

Last month at PWP 50, The Murder Militia continued to show why they feel they are on top of PWP. In a brutal beat down – Jaysin Strife, Chris Havius, Donnie Peppercricket, and PWP Champion “Babyface” Tony Cortez were zip tied to the ropes, and beaten with a kendo stick. With the Militia still holding the PWP Tag Team Titles, they now look to recapture the Heavyweight Title on March 13th:

*** The Murder Militia will have to defend the PWP Tag Team Titles against the former champions, Chris Havius & Donnie Peppercricket! The defending Militia members will be #1 Brett Young & “The Rebel” Jeremy Wyatt – but again, what role will the other Militia members play?

*** Jaysin Strife will take on The Murder Militia’s Joey Daniels. Will this be the fair and square one on one match it should be? Or will the Militia’s dirty tactics continue to prove effective?

*** Also in Action: David Clark, Matty Star, Jimmy Rockwell, Ryan Slade, “The Passion” Zac James, Stephen Saint, Preston Maxwell and more!!!

DON’T FORGET – All PWP Tickets are now JUST $10!!!!!!

Ron Powers and Danny Boy return to MMWA-SICW in East Carondelet this Saturday.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on March 10, 2010

Two of St Louis favorite past wrestlers return to the ring this Saturday when St Louis Powerhouse Ron Powers and Danny Boy return to the ring.  You will not want to miss all the hard hitting action when all your favorite MMWA-SICW stars return to action. Ring action begins at 8:00 P.M. at 823 State street East Carondelet.

Update from promoter Herb Simmons

Don’t miss the return of Ron Powers and Danny Boy this Saturday in East Carondelet. There is a lot taking place in the MMWA-SICW. It appears Travis “the crook” Cook, manager of the “connection” is trying his best to avoid having his men get in the ring with Powers.

Dubi meets the AAPW Fans in West Frankfort, Illinois

Posted by flairwhoooooo on March 9, 2010

Dubray Tallman here with a brand new “Dubi meets the Fans”. In this edition we are back at All American Pro Wrestling in West Frankfort Illinois.

Brian recently came up with the ideal to have a promotions superstar to wear a MWR Shirt to the ring and throw it out to one lucky fan. This helps out as the drawing sometimes can be a bit hectic to get everyone signed up before the intermission of the show.

Last week my good friend Santana G became the very first wrestling star to share the love of MWR to the fans. On this night was another good friend, Edmund “Livewire” McGuire who was nice enough to be a part of MWRs give away.

I must say that I had a great time before I even got to AAPW as we rode with our good friends Mike Van Hoogstraat and Jonathan Jones. Then we got to AAPW and caught up with old friends and before I knew the bell had ringed. Brian introduced me to Adam Testa from the Wrestling Daily website and one of the games Brian likes to play is “who is going to win” and this time he included Adam and Jonathan as Mike Van was busy taking some awesome pictures. Brian laughed as Jonathan and Adam got one right while I was wrong then I remembered that I need to find some fans before intermission, so I quickly caught up with some great people for the new Dubi meets the AAPW Fans.

AAPW is known for providing wrestling action that everyone can enjoy so there is always an abundance of kids in the house. Speaking of house, the fans love the Mississippi Madman and when the Madman asks “Who House is it?” the fans quickly reply the Madman’s house. I caught up with Josh Turner and his mother Patty Brockman, Mt. Vernon, IL who quickly said the AAPW Champion.

Up next was young Dakota Wagner and Austin Wagner, West Frankfort, IL who stated that they were fans of Edmund “Livewire” McGuire. McGuire as always was a gentleman and obliged the young AAPW Fans.

I have to laugh about the next Superstar that the fans requested pictures with, Mike Sydal. Over a year ago we pulled up at a show and we had only seen Sydal a couple of times and he always seemed like a nice guy but Brian says” Great Mike Sydal is here! So I replied “What’s the big deal with Mike Sydal?

A year goes by and now wherever we go, from Iowa to Granite City to Kansas all to way to Illinois fans are asking us about Mike Sydal. I asked a couple of girls who their favorite was and they sheepishly stated it was Mike Sydal. When it was time to take the picture one of them got shy and didn’t want to be in it, but young Brittany Mouser from West Frankfort, IL was more than happy to have her taken with him.

I thought I was done with Dubi meets the fans when Tina Reyling from West Frankfort, IL approached us to have her picture taken with Sydal as well.

Not to be left out I asked Mike for a picture of the two of us and as you can see I purchased the hottest wrestling wear in the Midwest, the brand new Mike Sydal t-shirt. .

After the Main event between Madman and Jeremy Wyatt, I caught up with the lucky fan who caught the shirt thrown by McGuire before his match with “Badboy” Chris Thomas. We would like to thank Jack Holmes and his step dad Paul Fisher . AAPW star  KC Jackson was nearby and was gracious enough to get in the picture with the AAPW Fans.

Till next time remember when your Dubin it your Dubin it and when your not, your not cool

MWR Trading Card #2 – 2009 MWR Wrestler of the Year Mark Sterling

Posted by flairwhoooooo on March 8, 2010

When Mark Sterling speaks you better listen. (Photo Credit Mike Van Hoogstraat)

Missouri Wrestling Revival is proud to announce that the Brand new Mark Sterling MWR Card is at the presses as we speak.

This will be card # 2 in the MWR Card series and it could not go to a more deserving wrestler today. Sterling was chosen by the MWR Awards committee as the 2009 MWR Wrestler of the Year.

Now you can own a piece of history as MWR commemorates his achievement with his very own trading card. Sterling  currently holds the NWA Central States Championshipthe PWE US title and one half of the PWP Tag team champions with Murder Militia and just this past weekend won the WLW tag team titles with partner “Superstar” Steve Fender  is poised to make 2010 his year as well.

You may not like him, heck you may even hate him but you can not deny that he is one of the top stars in the sport today.

Look for card #3 coming soon!!!

Big Crowds experience Title Changes and major happenings in the Midwest this past weekend.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on March 7, 2010

Exciting fan turnouts throughout the Midwest this weekend proves that Pro Wrestling is alive and well in 2010 as major title changes happened while some champions were able to walk away still champions.

On Friday in Leavenworth, Kansas, St Louis powerhouse Trent Stone upset Brian Breaker for the World League Wrestling Championship. Stone follows in the footsteps of wrestler’s superstars such as Derek Stone, The Barbarian, Butch Reed, Takeshi Morishima, Trevor Rhodes and Keith Walker as men who have held this prestigious Championship. Also on the card WLW Women’s Champion Becca Swanson survived a triple treat match with former WLW Champion Amy Hennig and Lucy Mendez.

On the same night in Des Moines Iowa at 3XW this past Friday saw the New Gentleman’s Club of Gage Octane and Casanova led by Todd Countryman defeated the young exciting team of the High Flyers of Mike Sydal and Zach Thompson. Jimmy Rockwell hit a rock on bomb off the top rope to beat Brady A. Dezire and retain the Cruiserweight Title while The Viking Warrior” Kraig Keesaman successfully defended the 3XW Pure Wrestling championship over the returning Buck Albright by pinfall after a vicious Nordic Spike. Amazingly Keesaman has now not been pinned or submitted in over 20 months of 3XW competition.

In shocking news 3XW Heavyweight Champion Jeremy Wyatt was involved in another heated moment when he teamed with Gage Octane to beat Brian Ash and Maddog McDowell. Wyatt and Octane  would get the win when he with a Kansas Tumbleweed set up by Ash shockingly turning on his partner and protégé McDowell and nailing him with a brutal clothesline. After the match, Ash stood triumphant with the rest of Gentlemen’s Club as fans pelted the ring with trash and loudly booed Ash’s actions. For the second month in a row, The Gentlemen’s Club added a prominent figure from 3XW’s past to the group.

Friday set the tone for the whole weekend as the action continued on Saturday.

IHW Illinois Champion Eric Allen (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

Missouri Wrestling Revival was on hand at IHW in Dupo Illinois at a packed house to take in the tournament for the IHW Illinois Championship that saw Eric Allen defeat Mephisto in the first round while Billy McNeil advance by beating Sean Vincent. In the finals Sean Vincent would make his presence known by hitting McNeil with a fireball allowing Allen to get the pin in a Match of the Year Candidate.

The Submission Squad(Pierre Abernathy & Evan Gelistico) won a triple threat match with Justin Wade & Shawn Santel and Cabal & Brandon Graves(w/ Mr. Late-Nite & Michael Gideon Morbid) to retain the ACW Tag Team Titles when Gelstico executed a single-arm DDT out of nowhere and caught Cabal in a Fujiwara armbar until he tapped out.

IHW Champion Brandon Aarons was put to the test in the Main event when he took on “Spoiled” Steven Kennedy. At times it looked like there would be a new IHW Champion but Aarons once again showed why he is one of the top young stars in the Midwest as he beat Kennedy with a cobra clutch suplex to retain the title.

IWAP in Olney Illinois promised to be an exciting night of wrestling when Dynamite Danny Cannon granted Christian Rose a rematch for the IWAP Title that he won in January. Rose was on top of his game and regained the championship when he pulled the turnbuckle cover off early in the match and that would be the deciding factor when Christian Rose slammed Cannon into the dangerous corner. In tag team action the The Northern Saints (Canadian Kidd Tony Flood and Damien Thorne) beat Team xXx ( Jay Spade and Joey O’ Riley) to win the Tag Team Titles.

A weekend of wrestling would not be complete without the 2009 MWR Wrestler of the Year Mark Sterling making his impact known. WLW had a tournament to for the vacated WLW Tag team titles in El Dorado Springs MO . Sterling is capable of winning tag team titles with any partner but when you match him up with one of the best in the Midwest in “Superstar” Steve Fender then the odds in Vegas goes way up. Sterling and Fender would have their hands full with the ultra talented Brian Breaker and Ryan Drago but in the end it would be Sterling and Fender who would have their hands raised. Sterling and Fender has the skills to dominate the tag team scene in 2010.

WLW Women’s Champion Becca proved that Friday night was no fluke when she survived once again in a triple treat between Amy Hennig and Lucy Mendez.

Look for more recaps in depth from these exciting shows in the future at MWR.

Wrestling fans gear up for an exciting 2010 as Pro Wrestling comes to your town. We hope to see you there.

EDITORS NOTE: I would like to personally apologize to former WLW Champion Brian Breaker for not having him listed as the WLW Champion this past week in the MWR Roll Call of Champions. Instead I had “Superstar “ Steve Fender listed and thanks to several MWR Readers I was reminded that Breaker won the title from Fender this past October. Breaker is one of the top young talents in the Midwest with a great look, awesome power and a bright future in this sport. In no way was Breaker not being listed meant as disrespect for his accomplishment of winning the WLW title.
