The packed house at WLW –Pro Wrestling Noah show had the opportunity to speak to Kevin Von Erich, sign autographs, share memoires of the Von Erich greatest moments and have their picture taken with the man many of the them grew up as kids cheering on as they took on the Freebirds, Iceman Parsons, Chris Adams, "Gorgeous" Jimmy Garvin and members of Skandor Akbar's Devastation Inc. This young lady waited for her turn to speak to Von Erich was an example how happy fans were about him being at the show.

Missouri Wrestling Revival was honored to be a guest of WLW during their annual WLW WWE Pro Wrestling Noah camp recently. A great week filled for the young stars of pro wrestling to learn from the very best.

For a full recap from MWR called WLW/WWE/Pro Wrestling Noah presented a magical week for wrestlers and fans in the Midwest in October.

During the camp I was fortunate able to interview Kevin Von Erich.  The Von Erich name is filled with triumph and tragedy throughout the years. Loved not only in their home state of Texas, their talents and charisma would be a huge catalyst for the wrestling boom in the 80’s.

During the time we spoke, you could tell that today he is happy surrounded by many that love him including his children.

I hope you enjoy this interview that was filmed at Harley Race’s World League Wrestling training facility in Eldon Missouri.

Bull Schmitt ends Derek Stones second MPW title reign.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on December 2, 2011

By Kenneth Scott

If you missed the Metro Pro Wrestling’s November show you missed a great Metro Pro Wrestling Television Championship Match.

First to enter the Metro Pro arena was the challenger Bull Schmitt. Schmit walked round ringside giving all the fans high fives.  Then the Champion Derek Stone enters the arena with the coveted Metro Pro TV Title belt in one hand and a massive steel chain and hook in the other.

The two men finally enter the ring and the ref rings the bell to start the match.  Stone takes Schmitt into the corner turnbuckle and get in a few shots to the stomach before backing off.  Schmitt comes out of the corner and gives Stone a punch right to the skull.  The punch knocked Stone to the mat and he rolled himself to the outside of the ring.

After heckling with some of the fans outside the ring Stone finally got back in the ring.  Stone throws Schmitt into the corner turnbuckle and follows up with a running dropkick to the head of Schmitt.  Stone goes for the cove but only gets a two count on Schmitt.  With Stone having the momentum on his side he goes to the ring announcers table and grabs the chain he brought out and wraps it around his hand.  Stone tries to hit Schmitt in the head with it but Schmitt ducks right at the last second and Stone misses and Schmitt follows up with a kick to the gut to Stone.

Schmitt notices the chain laying on the mat and he picks up the chain looking to take advantage.  He then  tries to hit Stone with the chain but he didn’t realize the referee had picked up the other end of the chain which hurled the referee into the air and knocked the referee to the mat.  Stone retreats to the outside of the ring and not far behind him is Schmitt who gives Stone a big boot to the head that takes Stone down and into a trashcan.  Both wrestlers continue to battle outside the ring and even up into the bleachers.  In the bleachers section chaos ensues in  the arena , Stone gets on the outside of the safety bars and Schmitt is on the other, Stone works to suplex Schmitt off the bleachers and onto the concession table below.  Schmitt blocks the attempt and gives Stone a big headbutt and Stone falls backwards right onto the concession table below.  Bull then hears the referee’s count is getting near 10 and he runs to the ring rolls in and back out to break the count.

Schmitt then goes back to Stone throws some ice at him from the concession area and then leads Stone back into the ring.  Once back inside the ring Schmitt gives Stone a Stunner which sends Stone backwards into the ring ropes and his arms get caught in them and he has no where to go.  Schmitt untangles Stone from the ropes and goes for the cover but only gets to the count of two.  Schmitt keeps up the offense as he nails Stone into the corner turnbuckle then runs off the ropes and back to Stone with a full head of steam and gives stone a thunderous clothesline.   Schmitt tries the move again but this time is met with Stone’s hand and into the Mandible Claw.  Schmitt goes down to one knee almost looking like he may tap but he gets a second wind and gets back up on his feet.  Schmitt then raises his arm above his head then all of a sudden gives Stone an eye poke, puts Stone into the backslide pin 1, 2, 3 for the pin.

Your new Metro Pro Television Champion Bull Schmitt.

International Stars to Compete at All American Pro Wrestling “Main Event” Jan 14th.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on November 30, 2011

AAPW Main Event
Featuring PAC, Colt Cabana and El Generico
6:45 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012; doors open at 5:30 p.m.
Black Diamond Harley-Davidson Warehouse in Marion, Ill.
Tickets are $12 for front row, $10 for adults and $8 for children. They are on sale now at aapwrestling.com.

Southern Illinois-based All American Pro Wrestling is proud to announce that two American breakout independent performers and an international star will make their AAPW debuts on Jan. 14.

Colt Cabana and Marty DeRosa duel it out in these comical sketches celebrating the relationship between wrestlers and writers. Directed and edited by Michael Sanchez (lifejazzfilms.com) Written by Colt Cabana (welovecolt.com) & Marty DeRosa (comediansyoushouldknow.com)

The debut of Colt Cabana has previously been announced, but AAPW officials can now confirm he won’t be coming alone. Appearing alongside Cabana will be the “Generic LuchadorEl Generico and “The Man Gravity Forgot” PAC.

While audiences in the Southern Illinois area have seen Cabana and Generico live in action before, being able to bring Dragon Gate star and recent Open the Brave Gate Champion PAC to the region is a major step forward for the promotion. The trio will appear at “AAPW Main Event” on Jan. 14 at the Black Diamond Harley-Davidson Warehouse in Marion, Ill.

“We know our fans love seeing our local performers, but bringing in stars like Cabana, El Generico and PAC, who are recognized not only nationally but internationally, as well, will only enhance the caliber of our show and the experience of the fans,” said Executive Producer and Promoter Chris Hagstrom.

While it excites AAPW officials to make this announcement, they also caution that PAC’s appearance hinges on travel arrangements. They have been assured there shouldn’t be any issues, but with international travel during the winter months, anything can happen.

Earlier this year, AAPW fans were let down when Sinclair Broadcasting pulled Ring of Honor Champion Davey Richards from an appearance at an AAPW television taping, and officials don’t want to see the same thing happen twice.

“We’re doing everything in our power to keep the situation under control, but unfortunately, some circumstances are beyond our reach,” Hagstrom said. “We hope the fans will bear with us and be patient. We’ll keep fans informed with up-to-the-minute details.”

No matches have yet been announced for Cabana, El Generico or PAC. Those announcements will be made in the coming weeks, likely following the Dec. 18 television taping.

Also scheduled for the show:

AAPW Heavyweight Champion Edmund “Livewire” McGuire defends his title against “Old School Warrior” Ax Allwardt in a No Disqualification match: These two men have a history dating back almost to the start of AAPW in 2006. This year, Allwardt has made it his personal mission to destroy McGuire in front of his endearing fans, winning the AAPW title in the process. When the men met on an episode of “Collision,” McGuire emerged the victor. But in the time since, Allwardt has had McGuire’s number, taking him out in a backstage assault and sending a message through dominating McGuire’s friends in the ring.

Mike Masters challenges AAPW Color Commentator Kevin Hunsperger to a match: When it was announced that “Collision” would be airing on WSIL-TV 3 in Southern Illinois, Southeast Missouri and Western Kentucky this spring, WSIL Morning Show host Hunsperger invited Heath Hatton onto the show. Upset by being passed over, Masters interrupted the show and attacked Hatton. Hunsperger lent a hand by hitting Masters with a chair. Since then, Masters has been on a major losing streak, and he blames it all on Hunsperger. Now, he’s challenged Hunsperger, AAPW’s color commentator, to a match at “Main Event.”

The AAPW Tag Team Championships will be defended: Right now, Curly and Heath Hatton hold tag title gold in AAPW, but at Fan Fest in November, fans saw Hatton have to defend the belts alone against The Convoy. No one seemed to know Curly’s whereabouts, which has left a question mark on their scheduled title defense at the next “Collision” taping on Dec. 18. If Curly and Hatton emerge victorious against their unannounced opponents, they’ll head into “Main Event” as the champs. If not, new champions will be crowned, and they’ll be in action in January.

Women’s wrestling returns to AAPW: Several years have passed since AAPW last showcased women’s wrestling, and on a recent fan survey, it proved to be in demand. Now, officials have been scouring the Midwest to find the right performers to bring the attraction back to the ring. A women’s match has been confirmed, but participants have not yet been announced.

Other stars scheduled to appear at “Main Event” include the undefeated Pokerface, the winless Jay Spade, third-generation star “3G” Eric Wayne, “The Golden Boy” Greg Anthony, “The Serial Thriller” Shane Rich, The Mississippi Madman and more.

“This is going to be the biggest event in AAPW history,” Hagstrom said. “2012 will be a breakout year for AAPW, and this show will start things off with a bang – as well as a few Boom Booms and Oles.”

AAPW returns to the Black Diamond Harley-Davidson Warehouse at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, for the final “Collision” taping of the year. The show airs locally on WSIL-TV 3 and can be viewed worldwide at http://vimeopro.com/aapw/collision.

Bailey Mannix ends Eric Allen’s career in a classic 60 Min Iron Man Match- Justin Reno new MECW Champion?

Posted by flairwhoooooo on November 29, 2011

MECW celebrated their 4 year anniversary and concluded the night with their biggest match in the history of the company as MECW Champion Bailey Mannix would face his former partner and friend Great Plains Champion Eric Allen.

Allen would not be alone though as he would bring reinforcements in powerhouse Chris Logan.

Not only would this match be 60 minutes long and for the title, Both Mannix and Allen’s wrestling career was on the line in a war that had been escalating in one of the most emotional feuds in MWR history.
Each man has been able to capture title after title and building a reputation as two of the most entertaining wrestlers in the Midwest. In 2011 MWR fans named Bailey Mannix the Sexiest wrestler of the year, but on this night there was going to be no time for smiles and posing.

The 60 minutes of Iron Man battle was supposed to be the focal point of the night but it would be actions prior in the night that would have ramifications as the night came to a close.

For a play by play I give you wrestling expert Patrick Brandymeyer for the rundown.

Before the main event, Sinn Enterprises attacked MECW owner Mr. K and forced his signature onto the contract that gave the company to Sarin Sinn. Sinn promptly fired the injured Evan Money (who was sitting in the audience and is currently recovering from an automobile accident that will leave him out of action indefinitely).

After a action packed night that featured Mike Anthony vs Shawn Santel 2 and Mauler McDarby defeat Mizfitt Manners in a bullrope match the match of the fans had been waiting for was about to begin.

The fight spilled outside the ring quickly , the two tore into each other all over the building with Mannix attempting to destroy Allen’s arm. He actually forced Allen to tap out to a cross-arm breaker, but the referee ruled that it didn’t count since it was outside the ring. Mannix was able to get a modified cross-arm breaker in the ring for the tapout (and first fall) just past the twenty-minute mark. Allen brought a ladder into play and evened the score after a powerbomb variant onto the ladder as it was propped up in the corner. Not long after that, Allen got another fall after a low blow and the Shortcut. After the thirty-minute mark, Bailey rallied with a cobra clutch suplex followed by a Shining Wizard to make it 2-2. Around the 45-minute mark, Allen got a fall out of nowhere after a huge kick to the head. The clock ticked down to the time limit and Mannix got Allen in a reverse armbreaker in the final minute, finally forcing Allen to tap with seconds to go!

That made it 3-3 and a draw, but Sarin Sinn ordered overtime…then Sinn Enterprises attacked BOTH men and even the referee. Leon Alexander tried to help only to get choked out by Anthony. Finally, the fan favorite locker room emptied to run off Sinn Enterprises…but the combatants recovered as the overtime was still officially in progress! Mannix finally got the decisive fall in sudden death after a sitout Tombstone onto a chair!

-Chaos ensued after the match as Justin Reno ran into the ring and hit a swinging fisherman buster on Mannix, then Sinn and company ordered the referee to make a three-count…making Reno the new Heavyweight Champion! Sinn continued his power trip by firing Mannix, who stayed true to his word by leaving his boots in the ring on his “retirement”…but Reno made off with the boots as well as his ill-begotten title.

IWAP wrestling fundraiser features big names, mayoral head-shaving. From the Olney Daily Mail

Thanksgiving was ushered in Wednesday night with body slams, choke holds and a head-shaving for Olney’s unfortunate mayor during an IWA wrestling fundraiser at The Holiday.

Money raised from the event will benefit the ongoing Musgrove ball-fields complex, which was approved by Olney City Council this summer.

The event raised approximately $6,100 for the project, which organizer Brad Williams said exceeded the goal of $5,000.

“Everyone was just great to work with,” he said, adding the atmosphere as a little more intimate than the Olney Central College gym where the matches are usually held.

The estimated crowd of 350 to 400 people was into things from the start, screaming at the wrestlers and those who were supposed to be maintaining some control over the matches.

“Hey, ref, would you earn your paycheck?!,” screamed one fan during an early match.

Some big-names taking part included Honky Tonk Man, Koko B Ware and Hacksaw Jim Duggan.

Honky Tonk, who had the crowd on his side immediately and performed his signature song, seemed to have irritated his opponent, who was one half of the tag-team known as Psychotic Rage.

“I’m about to break your little hero in half! How do you like that?,” he yelled as he walked past booing spectators toward his confrontation with H.T.
