Kevin X to wrestle his final match in the area at the huge NWA Dynamo April 6th Supershow.

Kevin X(aka Kevin Sharp) has been a staple of the St. Louis wrestling scene for over a decade, dating back to the days of Midwest Renegade Wrestling(MRW).

He entered Gateway Championship Wrestling(GCW) in 2000 with his eye on the Heavyweight Title held by Pete Madden, but he was double-crossed by Big Bad Ben after Ben won the championship. The two fought for months until Sharp finally captured the title in a no-DQ match in the spring of 2001.

Kevin held the title for most of the calendar year, defending against tough challengers at every show…in the end, it took two tough opponents to end his title reign. On a night when he was scheduled to defend against Jack Adonis, Nikki Strychnine inserted himself into the situation and the match became a triple threat encounter. The numbers caught up to him and Strychnine ended his title reign…leaving Sharp incredibly bitter about the circumstances of the title loss.

Kevin underwent an attitude change in the ensuing years, transitioning from the self-absorbed “Pretty Boy” into a gangster mentality. Changing his name to Kevin X, he formed “Thug Inc.” with Shawn Almighty and D’Mon G to run roughshod over the GCW roster. He would be a mainstay in the championship picture of just about every promotion in the Midwest!

Kevin X fought Adam Raw for the LWA Title at one point and also held the MMWA-SICW Heavyweight Championship, continuing a long-standing feud with veteran Gary Jackson.

In recent years, Kevin has competed for Dynamo Pro Wrestling as well as Gateway Championship Wrestlingin the Kansas City area.

Wrestling fans in the St. Louis area wish Kevin X the best of luck in the future…one could say that his career was “just too pretty!”

MWR Book Review: The Somebody Obsession- A Nobody’s Desperate Journey to Stardom by Matt Murphy

Missouri Wrestling Revival Book Review: The Somebody Obsession- A Nobody’s Desperate Journey to Stardom by Matt Murphy

People are often discussed with the notion that societies are black and white. In the world of wrestling it is magnified even more so: promoters are people looking to use their wrestlers, the wrestlers are loose cannons, and the fans, well, we are all missing a few pieces to the puzzle.

The truth of the situation is that each one of us can fit that description at one point during our life. Life is not easy and sometimes the desire to succeed can turn a great payout promoter to struggle to pay his wrestlers, cause a wrestler with all the tools to succeed to become bitter, or have a hard working fan get so upset during a match that he does or says something he/she regrets.

For many, wrestling is a way of life. Whether you work in the sport or you just love cheering on your favorite wrestler, we just can not get enough of the wild world of pro wrestling.

At Missouri Wrestling Revival.com, you have seen many of the stars of the Midwest go after titles, do promos and travel town to town in the hopes of getting noticed. Each man and woman has a tale to tell.

One man with such a story to tell is “All That” Matt Murphy. Murphy grew up in the Midwest, not with a silver spoon in his mouth but with hardships and a love of pro wrestling.

His story talks to the reader with an honest look at himself, his friends, and even his closest peers in wrestling.

His first claim to fame was being named “The first graduate student of former World Champion Harley Race’s Wrestling Academy” but what a trip it was to become that.

Murphy makes you feel like you were right there as he struggles to become a man as a teenager to coming back home as a boy that lived his dreams. Stories of who helped him and who took their advantages of himself and other wrestlers are high points throughout the book.

This is easily a must read for any wrestling fan or aspiring young boy that truly wants a taste of a guy who has had the opportunity to make it to Japan and the disappointment of not making it to the WWE.

Matt Murphy was able to see his friend and fellow WLW Alumni Trevor Murdock make it to the WWE with much success. Hear his thoughts on that, as well as his time working with Ian Rotten’s IWA Mid-South along with current WWE Superstar CM Punk. What kind of impression did former wrestlers Big Van Vader and Meng leave on him plus stories of his time with Pro Wrestling NOAH.

I have had the pleasure of working with Matt Murphy in the past and this book gives us a true look at the man who has been a winner, a underachiever with much self doubt, a self proclaimed asshole, and a man who by all means overachieved and did not appreciate it.

After my final assessment of Murphy with working with him and reading his books, I feel as if he is one of wrestling’s best kept secrets. Matt Murphy is a man who has a wealth of wrestling knowledge that just does not sugar coat his thoughts. If given the chance I have no doubt that Murphy is capable of improving the world of wrestling as we know it today.

His book delivers with a must read story for every fan that loves wrestling.

PWP March 24 Sir Bradley Charles vs. Abu Colossus

PWP Heavyweight Championship: Sir Bradley Charles defends Vs. Abu Colossus

Sir Bradley Charles shocked PWP to it’s core when he heinously cashed in his Anytime Anywhere Contract on an already beaten down Matty Star and won the PWP Heavyweight Championship, leaving Star with a concussion in the process. Now, SBC faces his first challenge as PWP Heavyweight Champion, and that is Abu Colossus! “The Big Hurt” is a former PWP Heavyweight Champion himself, and knows what it means to hold the belt. He told PWP Management that he plans on showing how it’s done, and that he will walk out of the Council Bluffs National Guard Armory the NEW PWP Heavyweight Champion. Sir Bradley Charles said he has a message for the fans, Matty Star, Abu Colossus and anyone else who will listen. Anything could happen here!

PWP Tag Team Championship: The Heartland Foundation: Vic Victory & Darren “Thunder” Russell defend Vs. The Grizzly Dogs: Buck Albright & Mad Dog McDowell

The Heartland Foundation proved not only to themselves but to the PWP fans that they are here to stay with their huge victory over Cheap & Dirty in the cage match last month. Now they have a different type of challenge: The Grizzly Dogs. While the Dogs has the size advantage over the champs, the champs have proven they can overcome any odds thrown at them. Both teams are beloved by the PWP fans, this will be a very interesting match!

Lumberjack Match: Joey Daniels Vs. Paul Daniels

These feuding siblings have been going back and forth for months, but now, Joey has nowhere to run, as the ringside will be filled with members of the PWP roster! Will Paul Daniels finally get his revenge and show his brother what respect means, or will Joey find a way to overcome not only Paul, but everyone outside the ring? Be there to find out!

The Beautiful Bodies Vs. Cheap & Dirty

In January, Branden Juarez & Preston Maxwell pinned Brian Gott & Derek Cornell to win the PWP Tag Team Championship. While their title reign was short lived, the sting of losing the titles is still very fresh in the minds of the Bodies. Now, they get their chance to avenge their loss. Gott told PWP Management that once Cheap & Dirty are out of the way, they will be coming back for the Tag Team Championship, which they feel is still rightfully theirs. Cheap & Dirty however see things differently. They feel they can regain the Tag Titles, and Juarez is telling everyone that he wants the PWP Heavyweight Championship as well, and will do anything to get it. Either way, one thing is for sure. This is going to be a fantastic match!

Plus all your favorite PWP stars, be there March 24th, you never know who will show up or what will happen at Pro Wrestling Phoenix!

Chance Prophet changes the stipulations of his 3/29 Match with Kahagas at Battle of the Belts

Posted by flairwhoooooo on March 16, 2012

By Brian Kelley

Wrestling fans in Florida on March 29th, at NWA Ring Warriors Battle of the Belts, the Tokyo Monster Kahagas is set to battle arch enemy Chance Prophet for the NWA National Championship. This will be a week prior to the Tokyo Monsters much hyped match for the NWA Worlds title in Glen Carbon, Illinois against Adam Pearce.

If Kahagas is able to capture the NWA National championship title, is the momentum on the side of the International Superstar heading into the NWA Worlds title match?

If Kahagas wins on Friday night and becomes the Champion of the World, his first defense will be in Kansas City for Metro Pro Wrestling, will he defend the title against Pearce in a rematch or will his nemesis from the Midwest Jeremy Wyatt work himself into the NWA Worlds title contention once again.

MWR will be having reporters covering the event at NWA Ring Warriors Battle of the Belts, so that we know how it all plays out on the way to the NWA Worlds title being defended in St Louis area for the first time in over 20 years.

Three All American Pro Wrestling officials launching new talk radio series, “From the Rafters,” on Monster Radio

Posted by flairwhoooooo on March 16, 2012

Three of the minds behind Southern Illinois’ All American Pro Wrestling are preparing to tackle professional wrestling on a larger scale.

Beginning Thursday, March 29, AAPW Executive Producer Chris Hagstrom, Marketing Director Adam Testa and Play-By-Play Announcer Kevin Hunsperger will be presenting a weekly talk radio show focusing on pro wrestling.

The show, From the Rafters Radio, airs locally in Southern Illinois on WGGH 1150 AM. Fans can listen worldwide at wggh.net.

The show will feature discussion and debate on everything from AAPW to WWE and will feature guest interviews in the near future.

The show is a partnership of Monster Radio, All American Pro Wrestling, My 1-2-3 Cents and the Baltimore Sun’s Ring Posts blog.

“We each have our own ventures in the wrestling industry, but AAPW has brought us together,” said Testa, who writes for Ring Posts. “We have debates and discussions about wrestling all the time, and this gives us a chance to share those thoughts and moments with a much wider audience.”

Hunsperger, who runs the My 1-2-3 Cents blog, agrees.

“I’ve been watching wrestling for nearly 30 years,” the morning news anchor at WSIL-TV 3 said. “I look forward to having a chance to discuss my passion for the business with my friends and talk about everything from indy wrestling to the WWE.”

But for the hosts, the show is more than just an outlet for them to share their thoughts on wrestling. It is also another outlet to promote All American Pro Wrestling and set it apart from the pack in terms of independent wrestling exposure.

AAPW has promoted shows in the Southern Illinois area since 2006. Last year, the promotion debuted a bi-weekly television series, “Collision,” on WSIL-TV 3, bringing the product into a five-state region.

This year, the company is also unveiling a web series called “All Access” that will be hosted at aapwrestling.com in the weeks between “Collision” airings.

“There are not many – if any – independent promotions that produce television, web and radio content on a regular basis, so this is just another step in advancing the AAPW brand and increasing awareness of our product both within the greater Southern Illinois community and beyond,” Hagstrom said.

From the Rafters airs from 7 to 8 p.m. every Thursday on WGGH 1150 AM and on Monster Radio online at wggh.net. Recordings will also be available on aapwrestling.com.

Fans can connect with the show and its hosts online at http://www.twitter.com/raftersradio and on Facebook under “From the Rafters Radio.” Details on calling into the show will be available in the coming weeks.
