Jaysin Static hopes to electrify the Midwest

Posted by reimaginejournalism on June 14, 2009

By Kari Williams

Jaysin Static’s wrestling career began two years ago at the urging of one of Mid-Missouri Wrestling Association-Southern Illinois Championship Wrestling (MMWA-SICW) mainstays—Shaft. In a relatively short time, Static has traveled across three states with hopes of learning from everyone he encounters.

“[Shaft] told me to come down to a show when I started working [with him], and it was all she wrote from there. I started coming down and watching as a fan and finally decided to get into it,” Static said.

During his time in wrestling, Static has already discovered what he considers one of the most important aspects.

“Respect. We all go out and do the same thing to put a show on for the fans. My main thing is, I’m going to respect you if you respect me. Wrestling’s been around many, many, many years, and I respect everybody and everyone that’s ever been in it because if it wasn’t for them, there wouldn’t be me. There wouldn’t be anyone else,” Static said.

Although Static works predominantly with MMWA-SICW, his journey has taken him to Heartland Championship Wrestling, Juggalo Championship Wrestling and Colisuem Championship Wrestling (CCW) based out of Indiana. While with JCW, Static had the opportunity to step in the ring with one of his childhood idols on April 25, 2008.

“I grew up watching Tracy Smothers and some of the other guys that were on the [JCW] show. Raven was on the show. He was one of the main people that inspired me to [start wrestling].

“[Tracy Smothers and I] still talk every once in a while, and he just inspires me to keep doing what I’m doing… I don’t know. I can’t put it into words. It’s really hard to explain because he just [makes me want] to push harder to get to the level of where they’ve all been,” Static said.

Static looks up to every person in the business because they put their bodies on the line every time they step in the ring. Although Phil E. Blunt has been Static’s most consistent opponent, Static could not pinpoint one wrestler he would like to step in the ring with due to the vast array of talent in the area.

“There [are] so many great, talented guys in the industry, especially here in the Midwest. I really couldn’t put it into words because there [are] great guys everywhere. LWA. High Voltage [Wrestling]. Everybody’s got great wrestlers. I don’t complain about anybody. Everybody’s great in my eyes. Anybody that wants to wrestle me, come on. I’m down for anybody,” Static said.

In addition to his eagerness to wrestle whenever the opportunity presents itself, he also has a sincere appreciation for the art.

“I never stop learning. That’s the good thing about this, you never stop learning. You learn from anybody and everybody that you step in the ring with. If it’s just a regular indy guy from down here [South Broadway] or a big name veteran like Tracy Smothers, you never stop learning. You learn from everybody,” Static said.

With that, Static leaves an open challenge to anyone willing to face him—“Midwest, watch out. Jaysin Static is back, and I’ll face anyone, anywhere, any time.”

MWR’s first show on November 14, 2009! BE THERE!

Posted by Admin on June 10, 2009

Missouri Wrestling Revival presents a wrestling show like none other in Granite City, IL on November 14, 2009.  It’s our way of giving back to Midwest pro wrestling, when we crown a 2009 Wrestling Revival Cup Champion!

It’s no secret that “The Rebel” Jeremy Wyatt is a belt collector, and in addition to those championship belts across the Midwest that he has been collecting, Wyatt was also awarded the MWR 2008 Wrestler of the Year Award and became the first ever MWR Wrestling Revival Cup Champion.  On November 14, 2009 in Granite City, IL, however, his status as Wrestling Revival Cup Champion is challenged by one of the only wrestlers in the area to legitmately be able to do so.  That challenger is Dingo.  Any true wrestling fan will not want to miss this defining moment in Midwest wrestling history!

The only other match signed at press time pits Darin Corbin and Ryan Cruz, the MWR 2008 Tag Team of the Year collectively known as the Northstar Express against one of the best young tag teams that St. Louis hasn’t had the proper pleasure of seeing in Full Throttle (Brandon Marino & Aaron Scott).  This is high impact tag team wrestling like you’ve never seen!

Also scheduled is a very special MWR Survival of the Fittest Match.  This elimination match will feature top talent from MWR coverage area promotions.  Each wrestler is looking to bring prestige to his home promotion and, of course, lift his career to another level.  Stay tuned for official participants.

Others scheduled to appear at press time:

“Serial Thriller” Shane Rich
Arya Daivari
Mike Sydal
“Canadian Sex Icon” Ryan Slade
Davey Vega
“Rockstar” Jimmy Rockwell
Mad Dog McDowell
“Homicidal” Steven Davis
“Unbreakable” Zach Thompson
“Asian Sensation” Ricky Kwong

General admission tickets will be $10.00 in advance and $12.00 at the door on the night of the event and will go on sale in August!  Stay tuned for more information in the weeks and months to come!
