MWR Trading Card #38 Stacey O’Brien

Posted by flairwhoooooo on February 17, 2011

Artwork of Stacey O'Brien is from The Promotions Rob Schamberger

In 2008 the world was in the palms of one Stacey O’Brien. O’Brien had won the World League Wrestling Women’s Championship and was honored as the  first ever MWR Female Wrestler of the Year.

Shortly after she was sustained and injury that would keep her out for over a year and a half.

Since her return the Midwest is getting heated with some very talented ladies looking to make O’Brien’s good years past her. At Metro Pro Wrestling she went up against Lucy Mendez and found out that it would not be an easy chore to get to the top as Mendez defeated her in their first encounter.

Don’t count O’Brien out just yet in 2011 she started the year off by avenging her loss to Mendez with the goal of becoming the very best once again.

Keep an eye out for Stacey O’Brein, a champion and one of the very best in the country.

Till then pick up Stacey O’Brien’s own trading card before they sell out.

The artwork of Stacey O’Brien is from the hottest comic in the Midwest, The Promotion. The promotion is drawn from none other than Rob Schamberger.

The 2010 MWR Wrestler of the year Mike Sydal, Mark Sterling vs Danny Boy and the debut of Jeremy Wyatt at MMWA-SICW this Saturday!!! Do Not miss it!!!

Posted by flairwhoooooo on February 16, 2011

By Brian Kelley

Wrestling fans, we were excited last week when our friend Herb Simmons invited us to East Carondelt Illinois for MMWA-SICW action for their special TV taping.

Photobucket

Danny Boy at one time was considered the best in the area….Some things never change as he has once again earned his way to the top. Do not miss Danny Boy vs. Mark Sterling for the very first time..with the title on the line. (Photo Credit Mike Van Hoogstraat)

Then we were told the Classic Wrestling Champion Danny Boy Hawkins would defend his title. Hawkins won the tournament last month with a tough final victory over Brandon Espinosa and to prove that he will not back down from no man his opponent is none other than……………Mark Sterling.

Photobucket

Sir Bradley Charles future is bright but here he has his hands full with Mark Sterling at Metro Pro Wrestling ..Sterling looks to make Danny Boy’s reign as the CCW Champion very short this weekend for MMWA-SICW (Photo Credit Brian Kelley) .

Sterling is considered by many to be the top wrestler in the Midwest today and will look to add the CAC Championship to his resume.

Photobucket

Mike Sydal is not only loved by the fans and the girls but here his peers show true respect for him as Sir Bradley Charles, and MWR photographer Gary Giaffoglione and “The Rockstar” Jimmy Rockwell support the Mike Sydal super hero T-shirt...Get one for yourself.

Also announced at MMWA-SICW is the return of the 2009 PWI Rookie of the Year and most recently 2010 MWR Wrestler of the Year Mike Sydal. Sydal has been seen at Ring of Honor throughout last year, so we urge you to take the chance to see this rising star live while you still can before he is called upon from the WWE.

You will also have the chance to purchase his very own MWR Trading card #37 and have him autograph them himself before they are gone!!

Look for MWR Trading cards from these Superstars that night (if there not already sold out!!)

#2 Mark Sterling-
#5 Mike Sydal
#6 Jeremy Wyatt
#12 Brandon Espinosa
#13 Dave Vaughn
#37 Mike Sydal

Oh but that is not all. The one and only Jeremy Wyatt will be live and in action for the very first time at MMWA-SICW.

Wyatt has been one half of the Missouri Wrestling Revival Match of the Year for three years in a row!!!!

True evil makes his way to MMWA-SICW this Saturday. Can MMWA-SICW handle the aggression of Jeremy Wyatt ? (Photo Credit Bill Smith)

Often hated but never underestimated, I am thrilled to find out which MMWA-SICW Superstar will have the task of meeting the Rebel.

The night of action will be taped to air on Channel 8 in Illinois (Wild World of Wrestling will continue on 981) with legend Larry Matysik calling the play by play as your favorite MMWA-SICW Stars provide a night of action that you will not forget.

We will also be having a MMWA-SICW Superstar throw out a MWR T-shirt to one of the great fans in attendance.

You will not want to miss all the hard hitting action from East Carondelt including your favorites such as Gary Jackson, Ron Powers,Brandon Espinosa, Dave Vaughn and many more.

Join myself, Dubray Tallman and Mike Van Hoogstraat for this must see event this Saturday.

Introducing FCW Superstar DT Porter

Posted by flairwhoooooo on February 15, 2011

DT Porter has never had it easy: most of his childhood he was an outcast, bullied and teased for not having as much as the other children in his neighborhood. .It wasn’t until high school that DT broke out of his shell by becoming a star in varsity sports. After high school DT joined the Navy, learning toughness, discipline and embracing a new found confidence. After serving his country, DT took to the ring with an attitude of ‘never say die.’ Once the oppressed, DT is the one now doing the enforcing. Determined to take out all of his childhood pain and torment out on the bodies of his opposition, DT lacks mercy, and will deliver great anger and furious vengeance on any who stand in his way.

For more info on DT Porter and all your FCW news click here.

The MECW Champion Bailey Mannix with his manager Lovely Leon (Photo Credit Michael R Van Hoogstraat)

Bailey Mannix has often been in the talks as one of the top wrestlers in the game today, but on this Valentines Day he has won the title as the Sexiest wrestler of 2011.

You can catch Mannix at Windy City Pro Wrestling in Chicago and he is the current MECW Champion who had a phenomenal match with Tony Kozina at IHW in 2010.

Mannix can defeat his opponents with a plethora of moves but all it would take for him to be name the first ever Sexist Wrestler in the Midwest was to have the top votes from his many fans around the country.

We would like to congratulate Bailey Mannix and thank everyone for their vote.

The Golden Cirlce: Did you know? By Greg Anthony

Posted by flairwhoooooo on February 12, 2011

I’m sure most of my readers have seen the “Did you know?” segment during WWE programming. Providing fun facts to boast about some of the companies achievements in entertainment. I thought it would be fun to do my own version providing maybe some information that might be of interest to some you. I hope I don’t get a copyright letter from WWE legal and here we go.

Did you know that “Skinning the Cat” comes from the phrase “There’s more than one way to skin a cat.”? Meaning that there is more than one way to get into the ring.

Did you know that Stan Hansen is credited with inventing the clothesline/lariat? I heard Jim Ross say this years ago and then found it true with several other sources. I’ve watched wrestling from before Hansen’s debut and have yet to see a clothesline, so if you dispute this fact find me some footage proving so and I’ll post a retraction.

What move are you going for when you shoot a guy in the corner, you charge, he moves and you end crotching yourself on the 2nd turnbuckle? No its not the dreaded Hugging Crotch Splash. Did you know it is The Monkey Flip? Whenever I asked people this early my career, I got answers like “Because its wrestling.” It wasn’t until Goldust was wrestling on Sunday Night Heat and went for a Monkey Flip got pushed off and went for it again that the psychology became clear. Thank you Goldust.

And speaking of Goldust, Montreal wasn’t the first screwjob. In the early 30s, a powerful promoting group called The Goldust Trio performed the first memorable wrestling screwjob. A promotion had put the title on a famous football star in hopes of drawing more money but it was The Goldust Trio who gave the order to have a hooker embarress him in front of a sold out crowd pinning him over and over until the ref had no choice but to give the title to the challenger.

Did you know that the late “Playboy” Buddy Rose competed in the first match in Wrestlemania history under a hood as The Executioner losing to Tito Santana?

Did you know years later, 1996, Terry Gordy would be The Executioner for a short stint in WWF aligning himself with Mankind and Paul Bearer vs The Undertaker?

Did you know at one time Ric Flair was going to put over Buddy Landel as “The Nature Boy” but Landel got fired before this came to fruition? This is according the Landel himself.

Would love some feedback on this article, so drop me an email, facebook message, text me or call me. You can myspace me but only if you want me to read it in say May or June. I promise.
