Missouri Wrestling Revival fans love affair with “The Latino Princess Lucy Mendez continues in 2014. Mendez has always shared a unique relationship with their fans. Since training with the 8-time NWA World Champion Harley Race, she has been a double threat as a wrestler and valet for many of the top promotions and wrestlers in the Midwest. Aligning herself with the likes of Ricky Cruz, Dan Walsh, and Brandon Espinosa she has been a huge draw for World League Wrestling, Metro Pro Wrestling, Dynamo Pro Wrestling, 3XWrestling and Proving Ground Pro while trailblazing her way to Resistance Pro Wrestling. No matter where we go, she is one of the most requested photo ops asked by the fans and this years’ MWR Fans Choice Award for MWR Best Female Wrestler victory follows up the huge 2014 MWR Sexiest Female trophy this past February. This past Monday night saw Mendez add the title as an Adam Rose‘s Rosebud on PPV from St. Louis’s Survivor Series.
Voted on as second runner-up as the MWR fans Choice Award winner goes to the two time MWR Female Wrestler of the Year Miss Natural. The daughter of Ken Patera, Heather Patera who also was trained by Harley Race continues to have another strong year as she once again added the WLW Ladies Championship to her resume. In 2014, she once again continued to travel outside of the area as well for top promotions such as SHIMMER, and All American Wrestling, while feuding with rival Stacey O’Brien. Miss Natural also appeared on WWE’s Monday Night RAW earlier this year.
One of the best kept secrets in the Midwest, very well could be the women that recently returned from Japan and that is none other than Melanie Cruise. The first lady of Proving Ground Pro combines beauty and power that leaves her fans impressed and her opponents stunned. Coming back home from Japan she won the AIWF Championship and looks to be poised for an even bigger 2015.
The third runner up is Angelus Layne. Layne is a perennial contender for the MWR Female Wrestler of the Year. 2014 looked to be the year that Layne had dreamed of as a little girl, and that day would be double sweet as she not only had the opportunity to be married to Brandon Espinosa, but also be able to win the SLA belt from Gary Jay. Wedding Crashers was the theme of the night as BOSS attacked the ceremony and Layne, causing the end of the marriage before it was even validated. In the main event, Layne could not overcome the chaos of Jays’ gang during the match while trying to pin one of the top wrestlers in 2014. Still, she has earned the respect of the MWR Fans and was named as the third runner up.

Congrats to one of the hardest working women in pro wrestling today Brittany….You know her as the lovely Santana Garrett, the daughter of former wrestler and promoter TNT Keny G. Fans around the Midwest has seen her start her career here in the Midwest under Dynamo Pro Wrestling before making an impact at Shimmer, SHINE, World League Wrestling, Metro Pro Wrestling and many of the notable promotions around the country.
Many of the top websites and magazines have already been excited about the young star as she has appeared in the pages of PWI Magazines, the cover of Ring Sirens magazine and has had two MWR Trading Cards to date.
We are excited about seeing here debut on TNA and will be watching each and every Thursday Night as Impact has just gotten red hot with the announcement of her as Brittany.
We would like to thank all fans that took the time to vote in the 2014 MWR Sexiest Female of the Year voting. This year we featured several of the top women wrestlers in the country. We are exciting and honored that they have supported MWR throughout the years and know that each of these athletes have fans wanting to have more women’s wrestling matches in 2014.
This year the fans came out in the masses to their computers to vote for who was their favorite to be named the 2014 MWR Sexiest Wrestler of the Year.
Without further ado, the female wrestler that received the most votes in one of the biggest weeks in the history of MWR is none other than former 2-time World League Wrestling Female Champion, Metro Pro Wrestling, Dynamo Pro Wrestling, Resistance Pro, 3XWrestling, Southern Illinois Championship Wrestling and StricktlyNsane ProWrestling star Lucy Mendez.
Jake Parnell found out quickly at SICW that if you do not treat Lucy Mendez with respect then she will beat it out of you.
Mendez has been a proven ratings booster in the TV market, as the former model turned wrestling star has won the hearts of fans throughout the wrestling world since her debut. It was no surprise that she would get so many votes to us because no matter where we go that she is at, fans are coming up to ask her if we could ask her if she would take a photo with them.
Once again we would like to thank each of you that took the time to vote for these talented women and be sure to let your favorite promotion that you would love to see your favorite come in to wrestle under the big lights above the squared circle.
In the near future MWR’s fan relations Dubray Tallman will be hunting down Lucy Mendez to present her with her very own 2014 MWR Sexiest Wrestler trophy!!
Adam Pearce made an impact and created emotions with each and every fan at the former MWR Promotion of the Year, Kansas City’s Metro Pro Wrestling . Pearce was able to have memorable moments in his career at MPW including winning the NWA World Championship from Colt Cabana. Fans around the country are shocked and sadden by the company announcing that their last show was this past Saturday night.
Since I got word late last week that the company was basically shutting down, I have wanted to write something about Chris Gough’s Metro Pro Wrestling out of Kansas City.
This past Saturday, Metro Pro presented what appears to be their final event as the promotion is now on an indefinite hiatus after their television outlet, Metro Sports, decided to go into a broadcast partnership with the University of Kansas. This new partnership represents a de facto overhaul of the programming for Metro Sports, with an obvious emphasis on KU sports, and in the process eliminates the timeslot occupied by Metro Pro Wrestling for the past three years.
It isn’t a bad thing, either. Promoter Chris Gough works for Metro Sports as Program Director. He’s got bills to pay like anyone else and has to answer to people just like anyone else, and when his bosses make a decision, he’s got to live with it like anyone else. And while it may be a blow to wrestling fans in the area or to wrestlers like me that selfishly want Metro Pro to live forever, the fact is that money talks, and that is simply the world works. It makes all the sense in the world for Metro Sports.
So rather than be bummed or focus on what “could have been”, I’m going to focus on what WAS.
Metro Pro largely did things the RIGHT way. In an independent wrestling world that has more than its fair share of scams and shitbags, Chris Gough always treated me with the same level of respect and professional courtesy that I gave him. It was a beautiful relationship that allowed me to find a nice foothold squarely in the realm of the Kansas City fans’ boos and cheers, and obviously a steady place where I could earn a wage. In the process we became friends. There are very few in wrestling that I attach that word to.
The locker room was the definition of cohesive and complete in the sense that everyone had a role. I never sensed any egos or attitudes, at least nothing major. I always had fun, and I always felt like part of a family. I’m positive everyone else that shared the Metro Pro locker room and ring feels precisely the same. The fans were passionate and vocal and everything a performer could want. And the man captaining the ship seemed to always have the proper course charted for everyone along for the ride.
I’ll personally miss Metro Pro Wrestling for a number of reasons, but most of all for the talented men and women that will undoubtedly miss it with me. I extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to Chris Gough and the entire Metro Pro family, it was great making memories with all of you.
Missouri Wrestling Revival covers many of the top stars in the country today. While many fans are very aware of the 2012 MWR Future Star Award recipient ACH, the adventures of Jake Dirden and the expert tag team philosophy of the Hooligans, there are many others that have a very bright future. In the next few days I am going to give you a list of a few of the most talented young wrestlers that will main event shows for years to come.
This is NOT a list that is in an order of importance, just a compilation of athletes that are sure to have you on your feet, either cheering or booing at a show present or future.
Combine the size of former MWR Wrestler of the Year Mark Sterling and the charisma of ACH and you have Bolt Brady. He can fly with the force of a bulldozer leaving his opponents grasping for air. The Texas native has been making his way to the Midwest working with the top companies in the area including St Louis Anarchy, Metro Pro Wrestling and Traditional Championship Wrestling.
Bolt Brady rocks Mark Sterling
Fans around the world got a sneak peak of his talents when he wrestled at the 2013 National Pro Wrestling Day. Look for Brady, the one and only “Super-charged Wrestler” , to soar to the top in years to come for.
To the top Bolt Brady goes on the attack at St Louis Anarchy
Missouri Wrestling Revival is proud to deliver to the fans one of the top young wrestlers in the world today as number one in the second series of the MWR Trading card set. That man is non-other than current Ring of Honor, St Louis Anarchy, superstar Kyle O’Reilly.

O’Reilly has worked with many of the top promotions in the country including MWR promotions St Louis Anarchy, 3XWrestling, Metro Pro Wrestling as well as EVOLVE, Dragon Gate USA, IPW, FIP, NWA, AAW, Fight Club: Pro, Chikara, ECCW.
