MWR June Awards

Posted by flairwhoooooo on July 19, 2009

Hello Wrestling fans as one of my idols would say….A slow month in the number of shows in June but some very exciting and important developments in the Midwest scene.

One of our own has the honor of being invited into the Ted Petty Invitational tournament in September. KC Karrington takes out the seemingly unbeatable Jeremy Wyatt, A promotion rises from the ashes to be the top dog for the month. Hadeev wrestles FIVE times and comes out the Albert J. Murray Memorial Tournament winner. Donovan Ruddick and Mark Bland is touted as the must see match of the year with a little help from a guy known as TNT. Speaking of the Future Donovan Ruddick he had words with the powerful Keith Walker at PWE after Walker rumbled with the Mississippi Madman.

The Submission Squad gains momentum going into the second half. 3XW Champion Casanova proved that he is the man to beat at 3XW. The youth of St Louis excelled at IHW as Brandon Aarons was able to defeat Gary Jay to be entered in the match, and then was awarded the victor when he outlasted Eric Allen, Billy McNeil and Adam Rich. This was just a few of the Highlights of June 2009.

The year is half way over with no clear cut winner for the year end awards. Make your way to a pro wrestling show near you and let us know what you like or did not like. Till then Thank you for taking the time to check out Missouri Wrestling Revival Awards for June.

The Promoter of High Voltage Wrestling goes above and beyond by shamelessly promoting his company which is still in its infancy. He continually posts on message boards, videos, and radio to get fans interested in his product. He and his staff will go to other events in order to scout different talent to bring in and help his promotion. There is nothing Keny G will not do to help better HVW and Midwest independent wrestling. Took over the Absolute Wrestling Radio’s broadcast then Suffered a beat down from AWR’S Mark Bland, and then had words at the live AWR airing from Six Flags. K.C. Karrington and Jeremy Wyatt went through a hellacious battle for the LWA Heavyweight Title on June 20 at LWA’s Circus Maximus VI. In a nearly 40 minute brawl, these two athletes threw everything at each other, but the desire to be champion kept both of them pushing forward. Wyatt treated Karrington as an unworthy contender but quickly realized that Karrington’s desire matched his own. Many nearfalls and narrow escapes occurred, including Wyatt inadvertently hitting himself in the head with a steel chair as it bounced off the ring ropes. Wyatt could have retained his belt after connecting with the lightning spiral, but with ref was knocked out, allowing Wyatt to have Sterling interfere on his behalf. Biggs saw the events unfolding and chased Sterling to the back before any damage could be done. Karrington then hit Wyatt with a DDT from the second rope and made his dream come true.

LWA Circus Maximus VI Arena Report

Posted by reimaginejournalism on June 28, 2009

By Kari Williams

Lethal Wresting Alliance underwent monumental changes on June 20 at Circus Maximus, including a new LWA Heavyweight Champion, the retirement of the LWA Medallion and the introduction of three new medallions. The 102 fans at the Knights of Columbus hall got their money’s worth and then some at what one could argue was the best show of the summer, thus far.

“Thee” Brandon Espinosa and Mike Sydal took on Dash Rando and Rebelucha, accompanied by Super Electro, in the opening bout. Despite never tagging together, Rando and Rebelucha worked extremely well as a team. The highflying styles of the two men meshed perfectly, creating a formidable offense. They sent Espinosa running to Sydal for comfort on more than one occasion.

Still, even with the absence of “Irresistably Flawless” Brandon Aarons, B.A.B.E.WATCH kept their opponents on edge. The one-man advantage for Rebelucha and Rando worked in their favor, as they decisively won the match with double frogsplashes followed by double pinfalls, with Rebelucha pinning Sydal and Rando pinning Espinosa.

Adam Raw announced Tim Alley as the new LWA Commissioner due to Raw vacating the position for a spot on the active roster. Alley quickly addressed the problems within the LWA—President Luke Roberts’ recent actions, the pairing of Shorty Biggs and Dorian Victor for the Tag Title match and $15 front row tickets. In his first act as commissioner, he announced the retirement of the Medallion and the introduction of the Medallion Triad. A wrestler must obtain all three medallions (Torment/Submission, Pain/Pinfall, Brutality/No Disqualification) to earn a shot at the Heavyweight Title.

The first of the three medallions, Torment, was put on the line as “Spitfire” Davey Vega returned to take on “All American” Adam Rich. Both men did their best to wear down the other for a submission victory. Vega focused his attack on the lower back, in hopes of setting up the Texas Cloverleaf.

Rich would not be deterred and did everything in his power to combat Vega. Despite Rich’s power and his ‘hulking up,’ Vega had worn down the All American more throughout the bout to force him to tap to the Texas Cloverleaf.

Alley announced that the winner of the following match would earn the Medallion of Pain. Eric Allen had to try and defeat Gorgeous Jordan, formerly XXX Jordan Lacey. Jordan addressed the crowd, saying that when he lost to Jeremy Wyatt, he said that XXX would never be in the ring again.

Lacey needed time to collect his thoughts, forget the fans and focus on the LWA title. Jordan barely gave Allen any chance for offense. Jordan’s time away from the ring did more harm than good for Allen, as the gorgeous one pummeled Allen relentlessly from bell to bell. Jordan decisively pinned Allen to become the second Medallion winner of the evening.

The Submission Squad of Pierre Abernathy and Evan Gelistico defended their LWA Tag Team titles against the Luke Roberts-assembled team of Dorian Victor and Shorty Biggs. Victor attempted to convince the fans and Biggs that he had changed, and it appeared that way when after Abernathy and Gelistico raised his hands, he attacked them.

From that point on, Biggs and Victor looked as if they would work well together. But the cohesiveness of the Submission Squad, and Roberts’ presence at ringside deterred the unlikely tandem. In the closing moments, Victor turned on Biggs, powerbombed him, and allowed Abernathy to get the pin and retain the titles.

After the match, Roberts got on the mic and told the crowd that he was proud to represent the LWA fans, Jeremy Wyatt as the Heavyweight Champion, and Victor himself. He then verbally assaulted Biggs, who attacked Roberts in retaliation and told Victor that he “will rue the day [he] crossed the Don Mega.”

Once returning from intermission, “Spoiled” Steven Kennedy battled Gary the Nightowl, with Tiffani LaFane, in a street fight for the Medallion of Brutality. The two men wasted no time in taking the fight to the outside, where they battled through the crowd and where Gary forced Kennedy to collide with the brick wall. As Kennedy and Gary made their way back to ringside, Gary pulled out a screwdriver to use on Kennedy.

However, Kennedy wrestled it away from the Nightowl and dished out the punishment. Minutes later, Gary brought a ladder into the mix, which signaled the beginning of the end. Both men threw each other into the ladder on more than one occasion, but it was Kennedy powerbombing Gary onto the ladder that sealed his fate. Kennedy walked away with the Medallion of Brutality and talked about K.C. Karrington’s match with Wyatt, saying that he will always be there for Karrington.

“The Japanese Nightmare” Kahagas made his LWA debut against Mark Sterling in an impressive bout. Sterling looked hesitant to start the match, but once it got underway, fans witnessed Sterling’s tenacity yet again and Kahagas’ athletic expertise.

The Japanese Nightmare took the fight to ringisde, and just barely escaped a Kendo Stick hit from Sterling as they battled through the crowd. Once they made their way back to the ring, Sterling dominated, but the unorthodox Kahagas would not go down easily and pulled out all the stops. That was not enough to stop Sterling, who used his wit and ring presence to secure the win by pinning Kahagas with his feet on the ropes for leverage.

K.C. Karrington had his work cut out for him in the main event, as he challenged Wyatt for the LWA Title. In a brawl that lasted nearly 40 minutes, these two athletes threw everything at each other, but the desire to be champion willed both of them on. Wyatt treated Karrington as an unworthy contender but soon realized that Karrington would not lay down for the champion.

Both men went to unbelievable lengths to prove who the better competitor was, including Karrington launching over the top rope onto a wounded Wyatt on the outside. Many nearfalls and narrow escapes occurred, one of them being Wyatt inadvertently hitting himself in the head with a steel chair as it bounced off the ring ropes.

At one point, even the referee became a victim. Wyatt could have retained his belt after connecting with the lightning spiral, but with the ref down, he resorted to having Sterling interfere on his behalf. Biggs saw the events unfolding and chased Sterling to the back before any damage could be done. Karrington then hit Wyatt with a DDT from the second rope and made his dream come true.

May 2009 Wrestler of the Month

Jeremy Wyatt (LWA, PWP. 3XW, AAPW, PWE, DPW)

wyatt

Jeremy Wyatt once again dominated the Midwest . On May 1st in Carlisle, IA at 3XW he regained his 3XW Pure Championship from Tyler Cook when he delivered a Kansas Tumbleweed to Ricky Kwong in a four way dance, with the match stipulating that whoever got the pinfall would win the belt. At Pro Wrestling Phoenix, Wyatt defended his title against Payday Patterson and with his friends Mark Sterling, Brett Young and Joey Daniels, Wyatt created mayhem when they attacked innocent ring crew members, current and former wrestlers and whoever would get in their way. In Kansas at NWA Dynamo Pro Wrestling Shawn Shultz defended his NWA Mid America TV Title in a triple threat versus Jeremy Wyatt and Shorty Biggs. Wyatt was victorious, but pinned Shorty, so according to the previously stipulated rules Shultz retained his NWA Mid America TV Title. Wyatt was so close to becoming an NWA Champion, but a match with Shultz one on one will be a must see for all wrestling fans. At LWA, the title of the May 30th show was “The Future is Now” with the thought that Donovan Ruddick would reclaim the LWA title that was once was his. Wyatt and Ruddick fought in the ring and out. From Sam Muchnick to Harley Race to Gary Jackson. Harley Race and several friends made the reunion a success. Mark Bland

l_9c51e131ea45fc2940acd16b5d0e4831

As the host of the fan favorite wrestling/MMA show with Matt Krueger Bland provides an outlet for wrestling fans to speak their mind on the sport that they love. When Mark Bland decided to get back in the ring and offer some excitement in the Midwest with a match against any champion in a 200 mile radius, no one stepped up. Bland looked around and wanted to take on one of the best wrestlers in the Midwest and found himself what could be his death wish in Donovan Ruddick, the High Voltage Wrestling Heavyweight Champion. A Sunday phone call to HVW promoter “TNT” Keny G lit the fuse that saw an invite to AWR’s Matt Krueger to their show on May 9th. Krueger unwisely attack Ruddick with a chair and got rewarded with a one way ticket out of the arena. The aftermath has seen Mark Bland go back into training with warnings from UFC former Champions to Ruddick that Bland will knock him out. TNT Keny G responded on May 31 by taking over the AWR Radio program while Bland attended to his family for the day. What will happen in this feud? Will Bland be able to topple the giant or will he be exposed as the fraud many thinks that he is. Whatever the end results the year of 2009 looks to be anything but “bland”.

1st Runner Up- {Tie} Kari Williams, Paul Daniels
2nd Runner Up – {Tie} Harley Race, Eric Davis

Mississippi Madman was on a roll as the PWN Champion last month he won a huge Title vs. Hair match against Marek Brave. The Madman looked unstoppable going into the his title defense against the talented Danny Daniels. Daniels would stop at NOTHING and took it to the big man. Outside the ring they fought and up the bleachers and throughout the building. The Madman look to turn the momentum, but with a little distraction from a masked man Daniels was able to put the Madman through a table and get the one two three.

pwe jUNE 20TH

The next PWE event, originally scheduled to be held in Springfield, IL, on June 20th has been moved to LINCOLN, IL.

It will NOW be held at the VFW HALL located at 915 Fifth St. in Lincoln, with a start time of 3:00 PM.

The VFW on Old Jacksonville Rd was unfortunately double booked for June 20, leaving us with no alternative.

Even with a 3:00 PM start, using the Springfield venue would have prevented PWE from being able to deliver a full show due to the time restraints, (not to mention setup/teardown of ring), and we do sincerely apologize for any inconveniences.

PWE’S Debut by the numbers of attendance was a little disappointing with the star power and talent on the card to be honest. With that said they should their head up high in the fact that they provided the wrestling scene in the Midwest with some of the top stars in the sport.

PWE management spoke to MWR and felt that they were happy to get their first show on the books. They hoped to improve on several areas’ themselves and felt that the show was a learning experience. PWE wanted to thank the wrestlers for giving a 100 percent and the referee’s that step in on such short notice. Last but not least they wanted to thank the fans for the support and hope that they keep an eye our for the next PWE show.

Till then PWE has teamed up with High Voltage Wrestling to bring the PWE Tag Team Champions to Granite City, IL on May 9th to defend their titles against one of the top tag teams in the Midwest, The Hooligans. HVW returns with a great night of action and some of the top stars in the country. The HVW Champion Donovan Ruddick, The Livewire Champ Kahagas along with all your favorite wrestlers in a card named “Peace and Blood”. For more information go to High Voltage Wrestling.

I would like to thank PWE for the invite to their debut show and would like to wish them the best in 2009 and beyond. To keep up with PWE please check out their myspace at PWE.

Fresh from LWA Management

After putting up a hellacious fight a couple months ago in what was deemed a ‘fans bring the weapons’ match, Triple X Jordan Lacey came within a hair-width of becoming LWA Champion again. But like many of his title chances, he just couldn’t make it. With Nick Tyson out of the main event this Saturday, the Lwa decided to give Lacey one more chance at redemption. Upon finding out about his sudden title match, Jordan Lacey issued an unexpected statement.

“This is it for me. I’m tired of getting so close but not making it. I promise the LWA fans this…if I do not defeat Jeremy Wyatt for the LwA Championship you will NEVER SEE TRIPLE X JORDAN LACEY IN A RING AGAIN.”

Patrick Brandmeyer’s PWE predictions for tomorrow In Springfield IL

Posted by flairwhoooooo on April 3, 2009

PWE Championship Match
Al Snow Vs “Bloody” Harker Dirge

Judging by the video promos of this match, I fear that Snow may be taking Dirge a bit too lightly. However, Snow is a veteran and has seen it all…Dirge will probably give him a tougher fight than expected, but I see the former WWE titleholder coming out on top. PREDICTION: Al Snow

PWE US Championship Match
Mephisto Vs Sly
These two know each other very well, having been both tag partners and opponents in their careers. Sly has the advantage in speed and agility, but lack of size may be his downfall as I see Mephisto overpowering him in this one. WINNER: Mephisto

PWE Tag Team Championship Match
North Star Express Vs Zero Gravity

This should be an outstanding tag team matchup between two of the top duos in the Midwest wrestling scene. The Northstars seem to be the more well-rounded duo and I see them emerging victorious. WINNERS: The Northstar Express

Triple Threat Contenders Match
Arik Cannon Vs Mike Sydal Vs Kyle Rich

Triple threat matches tend to be unpredictable…the third man in the ring can often break up a certain victory by one of the other two. I give this one to Cannon due to the experience edge. WINNER: Arik Cannon

Jeremy Wyatt Vs Jason Lyte of The Hybrids

Will be interesting to see Lyte in singles competition as I’m used to seeing him in tag team action…it should be a tremendous Matchup, but Wyatt is the more seasoned singles wrestler and I see him taking this one. WINNER: Jeremy Wyatt

Mark Sterling Vs Hunter Matthews

Should be a very interesting matchup here…have been impressed with both guys in recent months. I say Sterling wins but it’ll be a close one. WINNER: Mark Sterling

Mississippi Madman Vs Issan Hadeev

Suffice it to say that it could be a long night for Issan Hadeev against the massive Madman…Hadeev will probably need every underhanded tactic in the book to deal with the Madman but I don’t know if it’ll be enough. WINNER: Mississippi Madman

Cecil Cerveza Vs Brandon Espinosa

Should be a good one…a real tossup here. Flip a coin as far as picking a winner here… WINNER: Cecil Cerveza

Matt Cage Vs Curly
Wish I could provide more insight but there are several competitors on this card that I haven’t seen that often(if at all). Interested to see what Curly has to offer though. WINNER: Matt Cage

Triple Threat Tag Team Match
Tracy Smothers & Joey Grunge Vs Sage Ramsey & Dareian Frost Vs Carnage & El Magnifico

Again, three-way matches can go in any direction…tough to bet against Smothers, but the Ramsey/Frost duo may overpower the competition. WINNERS: Tracey Smothers & Joey Grunge

Best of luck to everyone involved…hope the show goes great!
