Three huge title matches for BLINDSIDE, August 27TH at New Midwest Wrestling.

In June, these three men (Scott Keyes, Bucky Collins and Central Illinois Champion Tyler Priegel) stole the show in an epic triple threat encounter. Both Keyes and Collins impressed the New Midwest Wrestling matchmakers so much, that we had to bring that match back home to Lanphier High School. The challengers are more focused and more prepared for this contest. And “The Dodgeball Superstar” Tyler Priegel is coming off a white hot streak, especially after gaining a pinfall victory over Ryan Phoenix at our last event. Couple all this with the fact that Hunter Matthews, who is livid over not fighting Scott Keyes, is contesting this match even happening, and you’ve got one powderkeg of a Central Illinois Championship match!

Truk Thompson is, undoubtedly the powerhouse of New Midwest Wrestling. When it comes down to it, he has ran through everyone in his way and without remorse. On Saturday August 27th, he’ll get the one opportunity that has eluded him to this point: a match for the New Midwest Wrestling Championship. Ryan Phoenix has always been a fighting champion and has made it known that he is very ready to try to chop Thompson down. Phoenix has fought men larger than him, but no one with the sheer power of Truk Thompson. Phoenix is giving up a size and strength advantage, but has proven to be very resilient in the past.

Spencer Powers and Guy Smith took exception to the fact that Derek Moss, still in his rookie year, was getting opportunities left and right. That’s when Eric Logan stepped in. Logan felt Moss was humble and ready to prove himself. After winning a No. 1 Contenders match in May, the Crew has waited and will get their opportunity against the braggarts known as Attitude Inc. With Perry Winkle at ringside, the challengers have a heavy task in front of them.

“The History of Wrestling” puts ring icons on art canvas. From Wrestling with Pop Culture website

Posted by flairwhoooooo on August 20, 2011

By Jonathan Williams.

From album covers to political propaganda, it is not uncommon for artists to utilize other creative fields to establish themselves and gain a following. While music, film and other pop culture arenas lend themselves to artistic interpretation, it’s not often that a painter turns to professional wrestling for inspiration. But in the case of the St. Louis-based artist known simply as the Icon, wrestling is the basis of his most successful painting, “The Gods of Thunder: The History of Wrestling.” After releasing the painting in May of last year, it has since been published in the January issue of WWE Magazine, featured in the WrestleMania Art show last March and shown at fanfests and other wrestling events. The Icon has had more than 200 of the 355 wrestling personalities depicted in the painting sign a framed poster reproduction, so the wrestling community is definitely aware of his work. Wrestling with Pop Culture spoke to the Icon recently about how pop culture has influenced his artistic output.

1) The Hooligans (Devin and Mason Cutter)

They dominated 2009 and became the first ever MWR Awards winner that were unanimously chosen for their MWR award winning the second ever MWR Tag team of the year award. Great matches with Zero Gravity, KC Killers and the Submission Squad has been spotlighted many times at MWR.

The current PWE Tag Team champions have no fear combining double teams in their own chaotic style.  Just like the Road Warriors of old they have no time for the fans, though they still hear many cheers during their matches out of respect from the fans.

With great matches’ lineup with tag teams the Kentucky Buffett and Tony Kozina and Kyle O’Rielly on the horizon the fans have a lot to look forward to from the number one tag team during the MWR Years.

Tim Miller strikes back !

Posted by flairwhoooooo on August 19, 2011

Tim Miller has been known to back down from no one...including the Manager of Champions Travis Cook...But Cook is no Ron Powers (Photo Credit Mike Van Hoogstraat)

Ron Powers says… Broadway had great potential at one time. However, the loony’s took over the asylum. It’s an abyss of self-absorbed egos. If anyone has an issue with this, come see me at a real show this Sat. night at East Carondelet…

You know what, Ron Powers? I do take issue with all of this! I TAKE YOUR REMARKS VERY PERSONAL. Sounds to me like you have a problem with the powers-that-be at MMWA for whatever reason(s) and if that is the case, then you have a problem with me. I’m no jabroni, idiot, loony or whatever putrid poison you wish to spew and the “asylum of egos” you wish to insult happens to be one of the most important parts of my life and means the world to me… You can bully Keith Smith, Larry Matysik, Herb Simmons and SICW all you want, however, you will NEVER – I will repeat, NEVER – pull any of this at South Broadway so long as I have anything to say about it! I will NOT be intimidated, insulted or fearful of you or anyone else for that matter – PERIOD. Keep running your mouth, Ron Powers, it’s what you do best.

This whole situation has been on my mind for a time now… I applaud Herb for addressing the split, as it has been somewhat unclear to me at times as to what is going on exactly here. Personally, I never wanted a MMWA-SICW “split” in any way, shape or form. The two separate shows with different headliners and performers is not what I envisioned when I helped to come up with the open-door policy… As Herb considers Tony a friend, I feel the same about Tony, Herb, Keith and the entire crew.

Even when I am steaming mad or in total disagreement with them, there’s nothing that I won’t do for them. Period.
Everyone has an agenda – EVERYONE – and I don’t think that it’s fair to point a finger only at Ben Simon. There’s been too much finger pointing, gossip, cold shoulders and crap attitudes and I’m guilty myself. It’s hard to have it both ways and not expect conflicts, confusion.

As for myself, my main focus has and will always be Pro Wrestling At South Broadway Athletic Club. There are those that dislike my status within the MMWA and don’t agree with my stance on any number of things, however, I will be at SBAC for a *VERY* long time to come and wrestling as we know it is a responsibility that I will *ALWAYS* uphold!

As for Ron Powers, I stand by my statement… you find the need, “BIG, BAD RON POWERS” to insult MMWA and South Broadway and I do take it personal. Let’s be honest, Ron, you are just upset that you are not a part of ST. LOUIS #1 WRESTLING SHOW! You are not Gary Jackson and it burns you up that “The Great One” is the MO & IL Heavyweight Champion and YOU ARE NOT!
