Tony Kozina’s not through with NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion Craig Classic.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on March 1, 2011

National Wrestling Alliance
-STREATOR, IL.

When the referee’s hand slapped the mat for the third time, NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion, Craig Classic smiled, knowing that this victory secured his trip to Japan for Zero-One for their huge upcoming show. The problem in Streator, IL. that night was that the referee failed to notice Tony Kozina’s foot on the rope.

“That match did seem to end abruptly”, said Trevor Millmaker, who watched from the second row with his sons in attendance.

After the bout, Craig Classic showered, dressed, and sped away to the airport without saying a word. Kozina, on the other hand, answered some questions from the internet and newspaper reporter on hand.

“Part of me is screaming inside as to who this ref is, and how much experience he has. And then I think, well.. it just wouldn’t have gone down that way had I simply lifted my shoulder. I wasn’t out. I was trying to conserve energy. The rope was there and hey- you throw your foot over the rope to break count and relax for a second. Never did it occur to me that the referee might not see it!”

What was to be two title shots for Kozina, turned into one shot, which ended in controversy. The night before, in Waukesha, WI., Kozina found himself in a three-way dance to determine a number one contender after it was announced that the Champion was delayed at a New Jersey airport due to the winter storm blanketing the country.

“It’s always something”, said Kozina. “I had the promoter calling me earlier in the week, saying the local wrestlers, and other midwest wrestlers were complaining because they felt they deserved the shot. Then Classic is delayed, which was true. It happens. But then I get this outcome which, to me, is unacceptable.”

When asked about his next step for a rematch with Classic, the 14 year veteran didn’t miss a beat. “I had all three NWA Midwest representatives together as soon as I came back from the ring. This match was not only about that NWA title, but a Japanese tour as well, so there was a lot at stake tonight. Bob Trobich (Executive Director, National Wrestling Alliance) will get my appeal for a rematch, plus, I was granted two title matches to begin with, so I’m shooting for two more matches with whoever the Champion is.”

As of this writing, there has been no answers regarding any future NWA title matches for Tony Kozina. Craig Classic is scheduled to take the NWA World Jr. Heavyweight title to Japan, and Puerto Rico, before returning to the U.S. in late April. For fans who witnessed the events in Streator, IL., the questions is, will it take place in the midwest?

Only time will tell.

Dubi meets the MMWA-SICW fans February 2011

Posted by flairwhoooooo on February 27, 2011

By Dubray Tallman

Hello everyone, an exciting night for me personally as our good friend promoter Herb Simmons asked for me to present Danny Boy Hawkins with a trophy. The trophy was in honor of his accomplishment of winning the Classic Wrestling Champion tournament last month at the very same building by defeating Waco, The Big Texan and followed it up with a win in the finals over “Thee” Brandon Espinosa.

I was nervous as this was to be aired on Channel 8 in St Louis so I didn’t want to mess up and make Danny Boy look bad. In all I was happy with the way it turned out as things was going great until Ron Powers went off his rocker and attacked his good friend Danny Boy.

You can find out the details by clicking here.

The MWR wrestler of the night was one of our favorite young men in the game today high flying A big thank you to Ace Hawkins for throwing out an MWR shirt prior to overcoming the odds and defeating the much bigger Waco during the night.

After his match Ace came out to meet the fan Gavin who was from Waterloo Illinois there in the front row with his family.

Danny Boy had a huge fan base at MMWA-SICW and prior to his good friend Ron Powers stabbed him in the back several of the fans took the chance to get their picture taken with the champ.

First we had Donovan who was at the matches for the very first time!

Photobucket

Dominic’s dad was a special guest for the show and had remembered us at WLW in 2010 when Brian had covered them. It was great meeting them and Dominic was so excited about having his photo while holding the belt with the Champ.

Photobucket

Christian, Kayla, Paige, and Allison was up next , this was Allison’s second time coming and she just loves Danny Boy so I was happy to get the two together along with Allison’s friends.

Photobucket

Brett & Eli Gummersheimer had their photo taken with Dave Vaughn last time but the photo did not turn out so this time they got to pose with “The Icon” Chris Hargas.

Photobucket

Last but not least I was going to pick a wrestler, when I saw that Brian was speaking to Jaysin Static questioning his actions in the ring earlier in the night against his opponent Max Archer when I got my good friend Mike Van to capture the young star putting the MWR Owner in a headlock.

I would like to thank MMWA-SICW for their friendship and support of myself and MWR as we get to meet such wonderful fans while checking out some great wrestling action.

Till next time.

Love Dubz

Missouri Wrestling Revival was on hand to witness a huge upset at All American Pro Wrestling when El Magnifico defeated Greg Anthony.

For a man of Anthony’s statue to lose to a guy in a mask and a sombrero was quite humiliating. We caught up with the Golden boy after the match, who was still feeling the embarrassment of the loss, and issued this challenge for the fan favorite El Magnifico for the next AAPW show.

Independent Hardcore Wrestling (IHW) returns to Red Bud, IL on March 5, 2011 @ The V Bar & Grill!

Posted by flairwhoooooo on February 26, 2011

IHW General Manager, Luke Roberts, and the Board of Directors have been hard at work in organizing this very special show. We don’t know much about it, but we have gotten a few announcements regarding the lineup.

IHW Illinois champion, Eric Allen, will be defending his title against arch rival, Evan Money. These two have met several times and Allen has always found a way to weasel a win, but he wasn’t able to do that on January 22 in Columbia, IL. Evan Money stepped up his game and Allen, fearing he would lose his championship, delivered a low blow to Evan getting himself disqualified. Luke Roberts announced after the match that the two would meet again, but this time, Allen would NOT be able to be disqualified and keep his title. The two will meet head-to-head on March 5 in a Street Fight.

Two-time IHW Heavyweight champion, Brandon Aarons, will be defending his title against the winner of a very special battle royal. What makes this battle royal special are the list of participants in it. We can’t give away all of them, but we will announce some of the special participants very soon. Your regular IHW favorites will be in it as well.

Check out these matches and more, March 5 for IHW’s “Return to Red Bud”!

Red Bud, IL @ The V
Bell Time: 7:00pm
1019 Veterans St.
