All American Pro Wrestling’s Main Event 1/14/2012 DVD Review

By Brian Kelley

MWR fans I am here to review a show that we covered at the beginning of the year AAPW’S Main Event in Marion, Illinois on January 14th, 2012. For the fans that are new to the site, AAPW has been a part of the MWR family of promotions from the very start. Throughout their history the company has been a proud company who has worked with the communities in southern Illinois for fundraisers while providing exciting wrestling with stars such as the current AAPW Champion Edmund McGuire, “Serial Thriller” Shane Rich, Playboy Paul Rose, the Mississippi Madman and “Homicidal” Steven Davis.

In the spring of 2011, it was announced that AAPW would be heading to the homes via WSIL3 ABC in their area with Collision; AAPW’S version of WWE’S RAW. AAPW would also be led by Chris Hagstrom, a promoter, who like his predecessor Sean Chambers had a desire to deliver Southern Illinois with family friendly wrestling filled with action, drama and a great time.

I won’t lie to you this review will be an inside look at the show from the ring and out as I know some of the men and women involved in making the show such a success.

First we will start with a fellow friend Adam Testa. AAPW Marketing Director Testa and I have different opinions on the way we like our wrestling, yet there is one common ground that we share, the desire to work to make what we do as big as we can. Testa, Hagstrom and AAPW announcer Kevin Hunsperger went to work locally putting up posters, and working the community. The three men were active in getting the word out about the show through various markets via the web. As my friend HVW promoter TNT Keny G says, the last thing you want to do when having a promotion is to have “a secret show”.

While MWR covered AAPW with 10 reasons why you should attend AAPW’S main event, Hagstrom joined Greg DeMarco of 411mania.com and the VOC Nation for an interview, Jerome Cusson, editor-in-chief of Pro Wrestling Ponderings (prowrestlingponderings.com) sat down with Hagstrom and Testa to discuss Main Event. Kevin Hunsperger, AAPW play-by-play commentator, had been previewing all the Main Event matches on his blog, My 1-2-3 Cents.

Fans could listen in on the radio as Hagstrom and Testa were joined by former AAPW Tag Team Champion Heath Hatton for a whirlwind tour of Withers Broadcasting stations during the week on the FM dial and Testa and Hatton were interviewed by Jimmy Fish, live on 1150 AM WGGH.

Flipside, inside The Southern Illinois, delivered with a special coverage of the Main Event, including an interview with special guest “Boom Boom” Colt Cabana that was set to print the Thursday before the show.

Then, on Friday morning, Hagstrom was live with Hunsperger at “WSIL in the Morning” on WSIL-TV 3. Hunsperger was interviewed about facing “The Masterpiece” Mike Masters at Saturday’s Main Event.

So with all that hard work done by the AAPW Staff, there was no way that anyone in Southern Illinois, heck the country could not know about this event.

As the doors open, people keep piling in one after another. I was behind the curtain with my friend and AAPW Champion Edmund McGuire as we watched the fans keep coming in. McGuire turned to me with a smile and said these words to me that I will never forget Brian you have covered us when we had only 20 people and now look at this, wow”. Wow, was right as the building would fill up to standing room only as 405 fans total was ready for wrestling at the Black Diamond Harley Davidson. The building is filled with motorcycles above the ring, no not just motorcycles; Harley’s. This is a great venue for wrestling.

So with 405 fans ready for wrestling, and the emotion and excitement buzzing through the air it was up to the wrestlers to stand up and rise to the occasion.

AAPW Promoter Chris Hagstrom, Shane Rich and Kevin Hunsperger calls the action.(Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

The announcers on this DVD are AAPW Promoter, Chris Hagstrom, Kevin Hunsperger and former 3-time AAPW Champion Shane Rich.

The cover has great photos courtesy of Jason Wilkey, and the back has an easy to read match line up for this huge show. There is two disc done for this event with images of Colt Cabana on disc one and disc two features McGuire and challenger Ax Allwardt in a stare down.

Before I even put a DVD in the machine, I am impressed with the quality of the box. Now let’s see if the matches were as good on TV as I felt they were when I left the building that night.

Heat Hatton vs. “The Golden Boy” Greg Anthony

A grudge match between the veteran Anthony and young Hatton would start the match. The three commentators do a good job of announcing while not taking away from the in ring action. Anthony had cost Hatton the AAPW Tag team belts and had been a thorn in his side in 2011. This is a great match to start as Anthony is one of the best on the microphone. A student of the game, Anthony quickly lets the fans and us at home know that he is not the one to root for. The promo is nothing to intense, but an easy effective old school promo that has the fans rooting for Hatton off the bat.

Heath Hatton nails a beautiful dropkick. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

The match is very solid as Anthony works over the legs of Hatton, then taunts the crowd. Anthony maintains control of most the match but one mistake from the Golden Boy and Hatton capitalizes with a roll up for the victory. I do enjoy the replay of the final moments of the match as it added to the professionalism of the DVD.

Promo David Ade with Stacey O’Brien

Awesome, wasn’t expecting promos on the DVD. I am a huge fan of promos almost as much as I like the wrestling. The problem in the Midwest is that the wrestlers have very little experience at doing promos so this is great for the talent of AAPW. O’Brien put over that she has been training with Harley Race which is good and lets the fans know the history of her and Rebecca Raze.

M-Dogg 20” Matt Cross vs. Pokerface

The undefeated Pokerface sent out an open challenge to anyone to face him at the Main Event. Fans of WWE’S Tough Enough would recognize him as “M-Dogg 20” Matt Cross. Still I could tell most of the fans at AAPW didn’t recognize him but I knew at the end of the day, his skills would make them remember him.

Pokerface may not have the name but you can tell that he puts in the work as he is in top shape. Rich gives a history lesson of Cross’s words to Stone Cold Steve Austin on Tough Enough. Hagstrom hypes the show Collision. This match promises to be an exciting contest.

Photobucket

Matt Cross (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

Cross delivers some great action that has the fans laughing and Pokerface in disgust. This a great back and forth wrestling match between these two on this night. This is a wonderful matchup that the fans at home or watching on DVD cannot keep their eyes off the ring.

Photobucket

Pokerface nails some huge knees to Matt Cross on his way to victory. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

Pokerface nails a great Ghetto Blaster kick for the win. A fun match. The replay shows that Cross is nailed with a bull’s eye with that kick.

PROMO PAC with Chris Hagstrom and El Generico- El Generico puts over PAC and states he has always respected him and their matches in the past and PAC lets the fans know that it has been over two years since they last met and Generico doesn’t know him at all.

NOTE: I enjoy that the promos are done well before their match instead of right before the match.

Jay Space vs. Billy Hills vs. Justice vs. Paul Rose vs. Bull Bronson Five man free for all.

First man to score a pinfall or submission would be the winner

Photobucket

Jay Spade goes airborne. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

The Farmer is OVAH at AAPW, Paul Rose has been a very entertaining wrestler at AAPW, and Jay Spade seems out of place with these big guys in the ring, can his speed help him win this match? Also in this match is the huge Bull Bronson, though he is very raw, I am impressed with the size and potential for Bull Bronson. Last but not least is Justice, another big guy who debut recently at AAPW.

Photobucket

The Billy Hills gets double teamed from Playboy Paul Rose. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

The farmer and Paul Rose go at it in the ring while Bull takes out Justice early by injuring the arm of the newcomer. Jay Spade takes out the other three guys with a dive from the top rope to the outside. Bronson is a monster tearing up the farmer then turning his attention to Spade. Rose and Bronson seem to have an early alliance but at the end of the day a win at AAPW is vital to capture.

Justice returns and takes out all the men except Bronson. Bronson throws out  Justice then delivers a splash on Rose to pick up the win. I actually liked this match more on DVD than I did live.

Commercials ??? Kind of cool really, don’t know why I think that.

Money Makin’Jam Boyz the Mississippi Madman and KC Jackson vs. Roscoe D. Harris and Bull Bronson.

I didn’t like it when Bull came out right after his match live but with Roscoe’s brother not there for the match I guess Harris figured he needed the stregnth of Bronson to take on the former 3-time AAPW Tag team Champions.

There is no man in the Midwest more popular than the Mississippi Madman. His tag team partner KC Jackson is a great contrast to his partner Madman. During the start of the match they discuss Kevin Hunsperger’s scary situation that will be featured on later in the night as Hunsperger takes on Mike Masters.

Photobucket

Oh my !!(Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

The Money Makin Jam Boyz dominate early and when KC Jackson gets in trouble the fans chant loudly for him to make the tag to the Madman. Good double teams until Roscoe made the mistake of throwing Jackson into the Madman thus giving them the hope they needed.

Photobucket

The Main attraction takes the wind out Harris then nails the stunner!!(Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

Bronson and Harris gets back the advantage for a moment till Jackson hits a stunner on Harris setting up the Fifth floor slam from the Madman.

This match is worth the $15.00 that AAPW is asking alone.

Disc Two

Promo Bob Fester interviews AX Allwardt and Gaylord Stevens. Wished they had some graphics to tell the fans that don’t know who these guys are. Both of these guys have always been fun giving promos.

Photobucket

Rebecca Raze inturupts the presentation of Stacey O'Brien 2011 MWR Female of the wrestler plaque from MWR'S Dubray Tallman. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

MWR’S Dubray Tallman presents Stacey O’Brien with the 2011 MWR Female Wrestler of the Year plaque….I am just glad she got in the ring and spoke instead of myself so GREAT JOB Dubray……Rebecca Raze comes to the ring to “cheer” on her rival O’Brien. Shortly after Raze attacks O’Brien looking to make a name for herself.

Stacey O’Brien vs. Rebecca Raze

Photobucket

A big boot from Rebecca Raze. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

O’Brien proved why she is the 2011 MWR Wrestler of the Year against the returning Raze. In Raze’s defense she has been out of action for quite some time and found herself in trouble at times against her former foe.

Does Raze hit this big move?? Buy the DVD to find out. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

Stacey O'Brien starts off the way she left 2011, a winner. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

Promo- David Ade with Mike Masters. Masters sends a message that there is about to be an opening for an announcer at AAPW after he is done with him. Ok, he doesn’t say that but that’s what it sounds like.

Colt Cabana vs. “3G” Eric Wayne

Photobucket

Colt Cabana plays around with "3G" Eric Wayne. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

Photobucket

Wayne looks to hit a big knee from the top rope. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

This is a match that Eric Wayne would like to win to let the world know that he is among the best in the world. Wayne seems to be really off his game due to the shenanigans of Cabana from the get go.

Photobucket

I dont know who was more surprise that Wayne won, Cabana or the fans but Wayne wins one of his biggest matches of the year. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

It would take some time for “3G” to get on the offense but when he did it appeared that he had the popular Cabana where he wanted as he hit a death valley driver for the upset win.

Promo Bob Fester interviews Edmund McGuire- McGuire promises to maintain the AAPW Championship.

The history of Hunsperger and Masters highlight reel……Great job teaching new fans why an announcer is in this match.

Kevin Hunsperger vs. Mike Masters

Photobucket

Some things in life sound better than they really are. For Keviun Hunsperger being a wrestler was a dream come true, or was it going to be a nightmare in the end? (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

AAPW built this match up perfectly as the bully Mike Masters blamed AAPW announcer Kevin Hunsperger for his losing streak in 2011. I had the feeling that Hunsperger felt he had a chance in this match, though I would disagree with him a 100%. Even though Masters had a rough 2011, he is still one of the most talented wrestlers in AAPW.

Photobucket

Mike Masters toys with Hunsperger(Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

Masters dominates Hunsperger over and over again. The fans of AAPW is behind the announcer so that is a testament to the booking of this match and the men involved. Now that the match has begun, Hunsperger comes to his senses and realizes that he is in the ring with the big boys.

Hunsperger takes a beating as the fans chant “Lets go Kevin”

Masters brings in a steel chair to the ring to finish Hunsperger. Hagstrom enters the ring to protest to the referee .

Photobucket

Jay Spade gives Hunsperger a vicious chair shot. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

That gives Jay Spade the chance to interfere and take the chair away from Masters and level Masters with the steel chair and giving Hunsperger the chance to steal the win.

Commercial Black Diamond Harley Davidson– Nice

AAPW Heavyweight Championship No disqualification

Edmund “Livewire” McGuire vs. “Old School Warrior” Ax Allwardt

Photobucket

Allwardt has been on the hunt to win his first ever AAPW Heavyweight Championship, but his arch enemy Edmund McGuire has stood in his way. The fans at AAPW LOVE Edmund McGuire, and rightfully so, as he is one of the nicest guys in the sport today. McGuire also has one of the most lethal superkicks in the game. If Allwardt was to get the belt on this night he would have to keep away from the finisher of Livewire.

Photobucket

Edmund McGuire throws caution to the wind. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

Photobucket

McGuire was more focus that I have ever seen him during this match.(Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

Allwardt and McGuire have met many times at AAPW, and the ussal calm McGuire showed true emotion from the start. Allwardt would receive a belt from his manager to whip the champion with. Allwardt would drop two referee but with the no DQ stipulation, then McGuire hits the third official with a superkick when Allwardt pushed the ref into the kick.

Photobucket

Allwardt uses the belt. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

Chaos ensued as the fans chanted “You suck. You suck” to Stevens and Allwardt.

I was for sure it was over when AllWardt hit his patented piledriver then goes for a chair from Chris Hagstrom who fights back, Shane Rich keeps any more damage coming to Hagstrom after he is pushed to the ground.

Back in the ring Allwardt looks to nail a pildriver on a chair but McGuire was able to fight out of it an back drop him on the chair then delivers a superkick on Allwardt.

Photobucket

Boom !!! Superkick (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

Stevens sense that his man is in trouble and enters the ring but is met with a superkick. McGuire then returns his attention to Allwardt for a second superkick for the 1-2-3.

Photobucket

Still the AAPW Champion Edmund McGuire.(Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

A testament to the wrestlers from the first match to the last to keep all 405 fans involved into the matches. The intermission went a little longer to allow the fans enough time to get autographs and photos and the down time didn’t hurt them one bit as the action in the second half delivered as well.

Positive – The wrestling was entertaining throughout the night. The stars delivered while the local talent proved that the talent in the Midwest is top notch. I have to give big props to AAPW for not trying to have a “Heel” announcer who isn’t funny at all. Hagstrom and Hunsperger deliver a serious steady call of the action while Rich gives the team a wrestlers perespective.

Downfall of the DVD– No commercial for MWR on either disc. hahahhaha

ADVICE –Buy This here

Is the Kansas City Killers better than ever with Mark Sterling, Jeremy Wyatt and Showtime Bradley Charles?

Posted by flairwhoooooo on March 5, 2012

Photobucket

Under the bright lights of the 2011 MWR Promotion of the year Metro Pro Wrestling in February Mark Sterling, Jeremy Wyatt celebrates Showtime Bradley Charles win over Tyler Cook to gain the NWA Kansas title. (Photo Cried Brian Kelley)

By Brian Kelley

“The Belt Collector” Jeremy Wyatt was moments from capturing the NWA World Heavyweight title from Adam Pearce in January in Des Moines, Iowa at 3XW. Wyatt the current NWA Central States Champion has brought honor back to the NWA by defending his title around the Midwest. Wyatt is considered by many to be the baddest man on the planet.

The Worlds fittest wrestler Mark Sterling’s name is brought up each and every time the discussion of who is the best wrestler not signed by WWE/TNA/ROH is brought up. Sterling and Wyatt have a rich history. Often they have teamed up, while other times the competitive spirit have set these two men against each other. Wyatt was able to capture the NWA Central states title that Sterling held at Metro Pro Wrestling in Lawrence, Kansas in a four way elimination match by defeating Tyler Cook.

At 3XWrestling the two have battled in what many have said was the greatest match in the Midwest in the past ten years, the 60-miniute Iron Man match that went into overtime. Sterling would get the victory in OT and the match went on to win the 2011 MWR Match of the Year.

Each mans desire to be the best has them once again going at it in a second IRON MAN match at 3XW during WRESTLEMANIA weekend on March 30th in Des Moines Iowa!!!!!!!

Photobucket

Even with the competitive juices at an all-time high, Wyatt and Sterling both know that when they each combine their skills they are the wrestling elite. St Louis’s promotion High Voltage Wrestling former champion Kahagas found out that the hard way as the Wyatt and Sterling formed the KC Killers with then protégé Mike Sydal to cause havoc throughout the promotion. Wyatt still boast the HVW Title to this day.

Photobucket

Jeremy Wyatt is methodical and dangerous, here he is shown chopping down the then APPW Champion the Mississippi Madman. (Photo Credit Mike Van Hoogstraat)

Down the road, the Killers would nearly cause a riot as Wyatt challenged for one of the few titles that he has yet to win the AAPW Title. The place West Frankfort, Illinois, the Champion the Mammoth Mississippi Madman . While the AAPW fans may have thought that the Madman was in for an easy night, they quickly saw how nasty “The Belt Collector” can be. By the end of the night Sterling and Wyatt had fans chasing them out to their cars in one of the most surreal moments in MWR history.

Photobucket

Wyatt would not be able to win the AAPW but Sterling sent the message to the fans and management of AAPW that they march to the beat of their own drum. (Photo Credit Mike Van Hoogstraat)

Fast forward to today.

Photobucket

The first group of the Kansas City Killers were Mark Sterling , Jeremy Wyatt and Mike Sydal. This photo was taken at High Voltage Wrestling, where Mike Sydal captured his first singles title, the HVW Livewire Championship. Sydal would go on to win the PWI Rookie of the Year as a member of this elite group. (Photo Credit Mike Van Hoogstraat)

The Kansas City Killers continue to dominate but now their former partner Mike Sydal yearns for the cheers. In February Wyatt and Sterling would celebrate as the Killers new young stud SHOWTIME Bradley Charles would defeat Tyler Cook for the NWA Kansas title much to the disgust of the Metro Pro Wrestling fans. SBC once a hometown crowd favorite and the first ever MWR Future Star Award recipient now completes the Kansas City Killers.

This past Saturday, Wyatt would add another title to his collection as he was able to smell blood from the wounded champion Bull Schmitt in their title vs. title match at the Turner Rec Center.

Photobucket

Schmitt a true powerhouse showed true heart by not tapping out to Wyatt’s crossface only to find himself losing his title when he passed out to the fearsome finisher.

Photobucket

The NWA Kansas and PWP Champ SBC and NWA Central States, High Voltage Wrestling and new Metro Pro Wrestling champion Jeremy Wyatt (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

Kansas fans can only hope that former MPW Champion Michael Strider can slow down the momentum of the Killers when he receives a title shot next month on April 7th in Kansas City at the Turner Rec Center.

Photobucket

The year is only starting and the KC Killer are everywhere. SBC showed his true colors at Pro Wrestling Phoenix when he turned his back on the fans in Council Bluffs, Iowa and laid out PWP Champion Matty Star after his match with Ryan Slade. Thanks to a title match at any time SBC was able to start the match for an easy pin on Star.

Photobucket

How will the red hot promotion AAPW contain the Killers as they enter into Collision season 2?

One blessing seems to be that they have not announced that SBC is not on his way so maybe that’s the plan of AAPW Management. Still, two KC Killers are more than enough to cause things to heat up down southern Illinois.

We wish our personal friend and AAPW Champion Edmund McGuire and AAPW the very best and give him this advice, Watch your backs, because on March 17th, Wyatt and Sterling returns.

Dynamo Pro Wrestling presents the first round of the Dynamo Tag Team tournament.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on March 5, 2012

By Brian Kelley

Missouri Wrestling Revival was on hand to cover Dynamo Pro Wrestling’s first round to determine the first ever Dynamo Pro Wrestling Tag team Champions.

In the first round of matchups it would be a tag team that has been gaining steam around the Midwest, the American Bulldogs that featured the power of Maddog McDowell and the youth and speed on Jon West. They were to meet Trent Stone and Dan Walsh, but with Stone unavailable to be there, Chris Hargas stepped up to the plate.

Walsh and Hargas were able to gel quickly as they both are gym rats who surprise their opponents with their wrestling skills. The American Bulldogs was well prepared using double teams to their advantage but in the end Hargas and Walsh was able to advance to the second round of the tournament.

In the second match the new tag team called the The Electric Unicorns (Billy McNeil & Jamie Lyte) met Adam Rich and Dice who represented the “First church of Karrington”. The speed of McNeil and Lyte would frustrate Rich and Dice with one big move after another. The monster Dice could not take it anymore and lost his cool, using a chair in front of the ref, thus causing the ref to call for a DQ victory for The Electric Unicorns.

The loss did not set well for the “First Church of Karrington” leader KC Karington who came out to verbally lash into his two minions.

The third match featured the extremely popular MsChif and Makaze with the Magic Man at ring side.

They would be taking on the powerful Alexandre Rudolph and El Sanchez.. Rudolph in 2011 has made strides  and EL Sanchez  who is new to the area seems to love his Corona’s as much as he likes to wrestle and picked up a big win prior to this night against Pete Madden.

Rudolph used his power throughout the match but with the experience of MsChif and Makaze they were able to keep from the big shots of the monster, Rudolph. During the match Rudolph and EL Sanchez used illegal tags so much that the crowd were furious and MsChif laid into referee Jeromy Robb for not seeing them distract him as they laid into Makaze.

With MsChif you always have to be prepared for the “Green Mist” and if not you can find yourself on the losing end of the match. That is exactly what happened to Rudolph, as MsChif eliminated him for enough time for Makaze to go to the top ropes to land a leg drop on El Sanchez cementing the win for MsChif.

The final match in the first round of the tournament featured the odd pairing of Sean Vincent and Jackal taking on the extremely popular Shorty Biggs and Outkast. Vincent, the cocky heel and the popular Jackal could never get on the same page and they would be no match for the teamwork of the Bumrush brothers.

So MWR fans there you have it the four teams moving into the second round of the Dynamo Tag team tournament to crown the first ever Tag champions are as follows.

Dan Walsh & Chris Hargas

Don’t miss it!!

Brandon Aarons returns March 24th IHW !!!

Posted by flairwhoooooo on March 3, 2012

For almost a year, the question on the minds of IHW fans has been – when is Brandon coming back? Well, I have the answer to that. On Saturday, March 24, 2012, former two-time IHW champion Brandon Aarons returns to the ring to participate in the 4th Annual IHW Invitational tournament! He was the winner of the very first IHW Invitational back in 2009 and would later go on to capture his first IHW championship.

Brandon rode a wave of success in IHW that would last until April 23, 2011. Brandon had just won a tag team match with Billy McNeil against Cameron Cage and K.C. Karrington. Afterward, Cage and Late Nite assaulted Brandon, injuring his leg with a steel chair. Fighting back, he drove his attackers from the ring and challenged Cage to a match and put the title on the line. Brandon fought Cage with every ounce of courage he had, but his body gave out. Cage locked on a figure-four leglock, using his manager, Mr. Late Nite for leverage, and caused Brandon to tap out. The pain was too much. He had lost the championship to the evil pair of Cage and Late Nite. Later, doctors worked hard to repair the damage Cage had inflicted on the leg, but Brandon would suffer from other health problems afterward.

Since then, fans have come to IHW shows and wondered when (and if) Brandon was going to return. Several weeks ago, IHW General Manager, Luke Roberts, got a call from Brandon and his physicians who confirmed that he was medically cleared to wrestle. No one ever thought he would return to the ring again after his brutal attack last year. Brandon told Roberts he wanted the championship back, but he had to work his way back to the top. Roberts entered him in the 4th Annual IHW Invitational tournament against his old rival, Eric Allen in the first round. If Brandon can beat Allen, he goes on to wrestle in a four-way match to determine who carries home the trophy and gets an IHW championship match.

Come out to Red Bud, IL on Saturday, March 24, 2012 and watch Brandon Aarons step foot in the same building where he was taken out of action last year as he attempts to climb his way back to the top of the mountain!

Sir Bradley Charles becomes PWP Champ, new tag champs in a cage and WWE Star Gangrel.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on March 3, 2012

Fans, PWP had one of our best events of all time on Saturday February 18th at the Council Bluffs National Guard Armory! A near record breaking crowd was on hand to witness a night full of action and emotion. Here is what went down!

1.) Sir Bradley Charles defeated “The Passion” Zac James. Zac James came out and addressed the crowd. He explained that SBC was the holder of the Anytime Anywhere Contract, and that he was an idiot for not cashing it in yet. He explained how he had won the contract the previous year and used it to win the PWP Tag Team Championship, holding that title for over a year. SBC came out, and the match was underway. In the end, SBC was able to catch James on his shoulders and deliver the Long Kiss Good Knight to get the 1,2,3. Afterwards, SBC explained that no matter who won the PWP Heavyweight Championship Match later tonight, he would cash in his contract on March 24th.

2.) Mad Dog McDowell defeated “Unbreakable” Zach Thompson w/ “Rockstar” Jimmy Rockwell. Thompson had his Heroes For Hire teammate Jimmy Rockwell with him at ringside, however, after the referee caught him trying to cheat, he ejected him from ringside! After that, McDowell was able to land a few different brutal body slam variations and get the win, much to the delight of the crowd.

3.) Paul Daniels defeated Joey Daniels via Count Out. These brothers have been feuding ever since Joey turned his back on Paul in November. Halfway through the match, Joey tried to win with his feet on the ropes, but Paul was able to kick out! Paul nailed a Side Effect maneuver but Joey rolled out of the ring, got up and walked away, letting the 10 count run out. Afterwards, Paul said this isn’t the way he wants to win, and next month, there would be a Lumberjack Match, with the ringside surrounded by wrestlers, so that no one could escape!

4.) Hype Gotti defeated David Clark. This was an absolute surprise to almost everyone in attendance, as it was a last minute addition to the event! Both of these men had not been seen in PWP for a long time, and it was a treat to get to see them fight! Both men fought hard and after the Gotti Driver, Hype was able to get the pinfall victory. Afterwards he cut a promo explaining how PWP is home to him and he loved being back, even if only for one night. He also said that David Clark is a great competitor. We can only hope that these two men return in the future.

5.) Gangrel defeated SM King. King came out to a chorus of boos, insulting everyone in the crowd, and saying he would say whatever he wanted, and that no one could do a d*mn thing about it. Then, Gangrel’s familiar music hit, and he made his way to the ring! SM King held his own against the Vampire Warrior, but late in the match, his arms got caught in the ropes, and Gangrel went to town with strikes and chops! King nailed Gangrel with a low blow, which the referee did not see, but it wasn’t enough, as Gangrel was able to use his patented Impaler DDT and get the win! A huge celebration was had afterwards as Gangrel took pictures with the fans at ringside.

6.) Sean Cruz defeated “Rockstar” Jimmy Rockwell. Zach Thompson also made his way to the ring but the referee, smart to their antics from earlier, immediately sent Thompson to the back, much to the Hero’s dismay. What followed was a fantastic match between two great PWP competitors. Rockwell was full of smart aleck one liners anytime he gained the advantage during the match. Cruz, back from his sternum and collarbone injury, showed a renewed focus and instead of his typical flashy maneuvers, we saw a more grounded and methodical, hold for hold approach from him. This back and forth match came to a close when Cruz locked a painful looking Rings Of Saturn Crossface maneuver on Rockwell, and that was enough to make him tap out. We have definitely seen a new side of Sean Cruz and it will be interesting to see what actions he takes in the future.

7.) Matty Star retained the PWP Heavyweight Championship against “Simply Ravishing” Ryan Slade, who was accompanied by “Manager Supreme” Axel Greece. Fans, there are moments in PWP that are extremely hard to describe, because of the aura in the building and the moment you realize something extremely special is taking place. This match was one of those moments. This is definitely one of the best title matches in PWP history! Both of these men gave everything they had to see who would come out on top. Ryan Slade kept returning to a Crossface maneuver that many in the crowd thought would have Star tapping out for sure. At one point Matty Star nailed a disgusting German Suplex off the top rope, and at another point, Slade connected with a vicious Canadian Destroyer! Greece also got his hands dirty, grabbing at Matty’s ankles and distracting the referee. In the end though, Matty was able to connect with the Falcon Arrow off the Top Rope, which no man has kicked out of, and get the win to retain his coveted title. The crowd was on their feet cheering, but Matty had little time to celebrate as Branden Juarez made his way from the back and started beating down Matty Star! Juarez was telling anyone who would listen that he was coming for all the titles in PWP and Matty was next on the list. Sir Bradley Charles however made the save, knowing that next month the two would have a PWP Heavyweight Championship match. SBC and Juarez argued for a bit, then Juarez disappeared from whence he came. The events that followed are some of the most despicable events to ever happen inside a PWP ring, as SBC hit a disgusting low blow on Matty Star, nailed him with the Long Kiss Good Knight onto a chair, then pulled his contract out and said “CASH IT IN!”

8.) Sir Bradley Charles defeated Matty Star to become the new PWP Heavyweight Champion. SBC laid down, and 1,2,3 was all it took after that vicious maneuver, to become the new champ. He then addressed the crowd, saying that he did what any one of them would have done, and took advantage of the situation. He them picked Matty up and nailed him AGAIN with the Long Kiss Good Knight, and you could tell Star was out cold. Some members of the locker room attended to Matty, and SBC gloated with the crowd. You can be sure that we will have more word on this situation in the upcoming weeks.

SBC is red hot in 2012.

9.) “The Heartland Foundation” Vic Victory & Darren “Thunder” Russell defeated “Cheap & Dirty” Branden Juarez & Preston Maxwell in a STEEL CAGE MATCH to become the new PWP Tag Team Champions. You could feel the anxiousness in the room as the cage was being set up. The rules were simple: ESCAPE ONLY. The crowd exploded when The Heartland Foundation made their way to the ring! As soon as Cheap & Dirty got in the ring, the door was locked, and the match was underway! So many high risk maneuvers happened during this fight that it is hard to remember them all. At one point Darren Russell nailed a brutal Diamond Cutter off the top rope on Preston Maxwell. Another highlight of the match was Vic Victory doing a Moonsault OFF THE TOP OF THE CAGE onto all three men! Victory & Russell took control and smashed Juarez’s face into the cage numerous times, resulting in a bloody mess! Zac James ran out and attacked the referee, got the key from him and unlocked the door. He gave handcuff’s and a chair to Preston, but was stopped short by Chris Havius who had seen enough and threw Zac into the ring frame, and then as Branden Juarez stuck his head out to yell at him, slammed the cage door on his head, and locked it back up! Preston’s cuffs idea backfired, as Victory & Russell were able to cuff HIM to the bottom rope! This left a bloody Branden Juarez, who took Darren Russell’s stunner combo, followed by Victory’s superkick, then a pair of Hart Attack double team maneuvers WITH a chair! He was not getting up! The Heartland Foundation climbed over the top of the cage, and as their feet touched the ground, they became the new PWP Tag Team Champions! The crowd exploded and spent a lot of time after the match celebrating with the duo, getting pictures etc. This was truly an emotional moment for everyone in attendance.

PWP would like to take this time to once again thank not only our loyal fans who always come out to see us and know that we always do our best, but to thank the large amount of new fans that came out to see us for the first time. To all our fans, we love you, and PWP would not be here without you. Thanks so much to everyone who came out!

Our next live event is March 24th at the Council Bluffs National Guard Armory. Details are coming soon!
