The 2016 Ryan Buckley Memorial Champion Tyson Dux + Jake Dirden Retains the PGP Franchise Champion

Posted by flairwhoooooo on January 28, 2016

The second Ryan Buckley Tournament once again featured several of the top talented wrestlers in the Midwest as they honored the fallen solider Ryan Buckley. Fans filled the Peterburg Fire Department to find out who would have the honor of being the tournament champion and see if the Proving Ground Pro Franchise Champion Jake Dirden could overcome the power of Justice Jones.

Tyson Dux would show to the fans why he is one of best technical wrestlers today when he would pick up victories against Johnny Wisdom, Craig Mitchell and Jeff Cobb on the way to making history.

Tag team titles were on the line as the Full Impact Pro Tag Team Champions and 3-time MWR Tag Team of the Year, Devin and Mason Cutter pulled out all the stops to defeat Zakk Sawyer and Mikey McFinnagin.

In a major battle of power Justice Jones unleashed his power onto Jake Dirden before losing via DQ, Though Dirden was able to retain the title, Jones sent a clear message that he was a true threat to Dirden’s championship reign.

James J Dillon to receive Lou Thesz Award

Posted by flairwhoooooo on January 26, 2016

 photo 4horsemen_zps56033e0e.jpg

WATERLOO, Iowa—One of professional wrestling’s most famous managers will be recognized by the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum. James J Dillon will receive the Lou Thesz World Heavyweight Championship Award at the 2016 George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame induction weekend on July 21-23.

Dillon is best known for his time as a manager of the Four Horsemen from 1985-89. The original Four Horsemen included Ric Flair, Tully Blanchard, Arn Anderson, and Ole Anderson. His work included stints with WCW, WWE, and NWA. He is also the author (along with Jim Melby Award winner Scott Teal) of the highly acclaimed autobiography “Wrestlers Are Like Seagulls” published by Crow Bar Press.

“I am overwhelmed. I am humbled. I am honored,” said Dillon of receiving the award.

The Lou Thesz World Heavyweight Championship Award is given to an individual in wrestling who has taken the skills of the sport into the realm of public service. The award is co-sponsored by the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum and Eblen Charities and the Eblen Center for Social Enterprise based in Asheville, North Carolina.

Lou Thesz became world heavyweight wrestling champion for the first time in 1937 when, at the age of 20, he defeated Everett Marshall. Raised in St. Louis and trained by Ed “Strangler” Lewis and George Tragos, Thesz won the title a total of six times—the last occurring in 1963 when he defeated Buddy Rogers. He is considered one of the best professional wrestlers ever—when true talent and toughness were what counted most in the ring.

“It is a great honor to be part of the Lou Thesz World Heavyweight Championship Award and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame,” said Bill Murdock, the inaugural recipient of the award and executive director of Eblen Charities. “All recipients follow Lou’s example by touching the lives of those less fortunate. This award honors Lou and the sport of wrestling. No one exemplifies the Lou Thesz World Heavyweight Championship Award more than JJ. The lives he has touched throughout the years brings a strong message of the importance of public service throughout the wrestling community.”

The Class of 2016 includes two Distinguished Members (one living and one posthumous) along with recipients of the Lou Thesz Award, Jim Melby Award, Frank Gotch Award, and the George Tragos Award.

The Dan Gable Museum will release additional inductees and award winners in the coming weeks.

A full schedule of events will be released on a later date. All-access passes to the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame induction weekend are available for $100. They can be pre-ordered by contacting the Dan Gable Museum at dgmstaff@nwhof.org or by calling (319) 233-0745.

New Breed Wrestling 2016 Update – Returns on March 26th

Posted by flairwhoooooo on January 24, 2016

From the office of New Breed Wrestling.

Our first update of the new year is upon us, and we’re starting to hear from fans asking about what might be in store this year for New Breed Wrestling. Let’s jump right in!

Our first event of the year will be our 1 year anniversary in Eldon on Saturday, March 26th. With the holiday on Sunday we’ve decided to kick things off a little earlier than normal, doors will open at 5:00 and the action will start at 6:00. As always our ticket outlet will be Rent-A-Center of Eldon, and tickets will go on sale February 2nd.

Two of the questions we’ve heard the most will be answered when The Math Magician and The Iceman will face off in a mask vs. dress match as promised by NBW Commissioner Wild Wade Chism. Also, the high flying Riegel Twins will be making their return to NBW to take on Guns and Beer.

We also have some new faces this time around as Paloma Starr will be facing Stacey O’Brien, and Mark Sterling will be coming to town to call out Trevor Murdoch. We hope to have a statement from Mr. Sterling soon.

Our second show of the year will be in Sedalia, more details are coming soon!
