During the MMWA “King of Cable” Tournament at the historic South Broadway Athletic Club in November, the Missouri Office of Athletics supervisor, Ed Moynahan, presented Awards of Excellence to a few that have made an unselfish contribution to pro wrestling.

First was wrestling promoter Tony Casta and his wife Wanda. Tony wrestled and then promoted for 28 years. When fans purchase a ticket for South Broadway wrestling, one of the first people they see is Wanda.  The MMWA at the SBAC is a tradition for many young and old, and Tony and Wanda are vital to the success that pro wrestling continues to have.

Senior Referee Jim Harris has been on the job for 27 years. Harris began his training with Rick Roberts and the Masked Executioners, and took in as much advice from former Wrestling at the Chase Referee Ed Smith. Harris has the respect and admiration from his peers, wrestlers and fans for his utmost integrity and dedication to his profession.

To many, “The Great One” Gary Jackson is St. Louis Wrestling.  The former military veteran made his mark in the Midwest and made appearances in WWE and WCW. He continues to main event cards and capture titles in exciting matches each month.  Gary Jackson is everything that a champion needs to be: hardworking, professional, and always there for the fans.

The Lumberjacks Abe and Gabe have been a staple of pro wrestling in the Midwest for the past 25 years.  They stand 6’4 and 6”3 respectively and weigh a combined 600 pounds.  They have been inducted into the Missouri Wrestling Hall of Fame and are the one the most decorated tag teams in the Midwest.

December 6th in Alton, Illinois “Yuletide Terror” The holiday show you do not want to miss.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on November 12, 2013

 photo slah_zpse13c99e3.jpg

So it is almost time for Black Friday and you are going to be on the hunt for a gift for the loved one in your life but you do not know what to get them.

How about a night together to witness the most insane, brutal and exciting night of wrestling that you will not forget?

Many of the top young stars in wrestling around the world will be in action in Alton, Illinois.

In the main event will be the reigning SLA Champion Gerald James defending his title against Mat Fitchett. Though he is the champion, James continues to be one the most underrated wrestlers in the Midwest. The man can take a beating and gives it back tenfold. Throughout the MWR Years he has been one of the biggest contributors of the HOLY SH%# moments in the squared circle. His opponent is the highly charismatic Fitchett. A high flyer that is able to match James’s no fear attitude to do whatever it takes to get the job done to gain a win. The match per James’s request will be a two out of three falls for the title. Can Fitchett pace himself to keep up with James to become champion?

With St Louis Anarchy you will always get a variety of matches from hardcore wars, tag team the way it was meant to be, some comedy and as always wrestling classic featuring the best young stars today. Nowhere else is that more showcased than in match three of the ACH and Davey Vega trilogy. Vega and ACH have each won a match against each other and this one here will determine who will have the bragging rights heading in 2014. ACH is the 2012 MWR Future Star recipient and is currently a ROH Superstar that is poised to be a huge star in the sport for years to come. Vega may not have the fanfare that ACH has but his peers can attest that he is just as good. Vega and ACH have much respect for each other and this could be a competition that will be played out for years to come in the world of pro wrestling, be there so you can were there first.

While Vega and ACH are Midwest favorites who have made a name for themselves, SLA continues to bring to you the fans matches that in the past you would only dream of. That is the case when Kyle O’Reilly meets Johnny Gurgaon. O’Reilly a student of Davey Richards and a current ROH Star will meet internet wrestling sensation Johnny Gargano. Gargano has worked hard to make his mark in prominent in companies such as Dragon Gate USA and Chikara. The current Open the Freedom Gate Champion, Johnny Gargano, is “All Heart” and has a long history to prove it. O’Reilly is a 2-time ROH Tag team Champion and the 2012 SLA Medallion tournament champion. This could main event anywhere in the world and you can see it in Alton, Illinois on December 6th.

Dingo vs. JoJo Bravo will be an entertaining joyride. Dingo long considered to be one of the best wrestlers in the country has thrilled fans with his return recently in the Midwest. If you wanted a younger, cockier version of Dingo look no further than JoJo Bravo. Though Bravo has been known for his zany demeanor, make no mistake about it, he is able to upset the Midwest superstar Dingo at Yuletide Terror!

Tag Team at its very best will be featured when the Hooligans take on Dan Walsh  and Jeremy Wyatt. The Hooligans are a former MWR Tag Team of the Year and was involved in the only tag team match that headlined a card for SLA earlier this year . They will be tested when they meet the returning former LWA (SLA) Champions Jeremy Wyatt and Dan Walsh. Though this will be the first time that Wyatt and Walsh will team up together, no two men in wrestling today are able to step up in big matches to get their hands raised. The Hooligans vs. Jeremy Wyatt and Dan Walsh could very well steal the show.

Darren Dean was showcased earlier this year as one of the top MWR Prospects in the area but the Davey Richards protégé will have to stay focused to keep up with Arik Cannon on December 6th. Cannon is a master of getting his opponents off of their game with shenanigans that leads himself to a victory. Be sure to purchase a $1.00 beer at bar and have a drink with Cannon as he hopes to celebrate the holidays with a win.

Darin Corbin is looking to rebound from losing his SLA Championship to Gerald James as he meets the flamboyant cocky Brandon Espinosa. Espinosa has been known to steal a kiss during the math, so will the mistletoe be a part of the plan to get in Corbin’s head for a win or will Espinosa be taken to school of Morality for a hard Christmas lesson?

Has Evan Gelistico bitten off more than he can handle when he meets SLA Legend Adam Raw at Yuletide Terror? Raw has come back in 2013, bigger, faster and more powerful than ever before and will meet a man that he knows very well in Gelistico. Yet that is not true, just as Raw has improved, he may have to prepare himself for a much dangerous man in Gelistico. Since Raw left Gelstico has paid his dues traveling the country honing his skills, and has become known for his mean streak. These two will not be exchanging gifts under the Christmas tree at the end of the month but you will be able to see the two collide at Yuletide Terror.

Ariya Daivari returns to the Midwest after a long hiatus on December 6th. The young star is the brother of former WWE Superstar Daivari who was also with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling as Sheik Abdul Bashir. Young Bolt Brady’s combination of speed and power was a big reason of why he was chosen as one of the 2013 MWR Top Prospects but he will need all that talent and then some if he hopes to defeat Daivari who will look to be a scrooge in the career in Brady.

Alex Castle vs. Jordan Lacey vs. Alex the Big Owl vs. Ricky Starks– All four of these men will look to end the year off with a win to catapult them into the eyes of the men at power at SLA in 2013. Jordan Lacy a former SLA Champion will most certainly have the edge going in with his experience but no one can ignore the scary power of Alex the Big Al, or the unpredictability of one half of the Day Walkers Alex Castle, or the up and comer Ricky Starks.

Also in attendance will be Angelus Layne. Layne had a great year in 2013 before an injury sidelined her late in the year. What will Layne have in store for the SLA fans in 2013?

So wrestling fans, join us with your friends for a night of partying, and action that only SLA can deliver on December 6th in Alton, Illinois.
