3XWrestling Prepares For Major Holiday Spectacular

Holiday Havoc 3 Features All-Stars of Midwest Pro Wrestling

DES MOINES, Iowa – 3XWrestling (3XW) proudly presents its annual year-end supershow, Holiday Havoc 3, on December 30 at the Barratta’s@Forte Center in downtown Des Moines.

The stacked card of Midwest all-stars includes three major championship matches and – for the first-time ever in 3XW – a tag team flag match!

3XW’s October event, Halloween Horror 4, saw the introduction of dramatic live production changes, including an enhanced sound system, specialized lighting displays and the use of video projection equipment throughout the event. November Knockout 3: Black Friday saw live video interviews shown to the audience that further enhanced the viewing experience. Look for even more exciting production additions to the live event experience at Holiday Havoc 3.

There will also be a very special announcement at Holiday Havoc 3 about a well-known wrestling champion making his 3XW debut at our January event!

The Des Moines-based family-friendly wrestling promotion has grown from humble beginnings in July 2005 to being a leader in the Midwestern professional wrestling scene. 3XW has twice been recognized (2008, 2010) by Missouri Wrestling Revival (http://www.missouriwrestlingrevival.com) as the “Promotion of the Year” for the Midwest.

3XWrestling is also very proud to announce that they will once again be holding monthly events in Des Moines at the Baratta’s@Forte Grand Ballroom through 2012 and are in the process of scheduling more events throughout Iowa in 2012.

3XW Heavyweight Championship!

”The Iron Man” Mark Sterling vs. 3XW Heavyweight champion “The Rebel” Jeremy Wyatt

– The most-anticipated Heavyweight title rematch of the year! Wyatt won a 27-minute classic in November, only for Sterling to viciously assault Wyatt’s knee following the bout. Footage of this attack can be seen on 3XW Outside the Ring. Will Wyatt’s knee stay healthy enough to successfully defend the title over the super-dangerous Sterling again?

3XW Pure Wrestling Championship!

The Rockstar” Jimmy Rockwell vs. 3XW Pure Wrestling champion”The Anarchist” Arik Cannon

– Cannon, a national star seen throughout the world on iPPV, used under-handed means to defeat Sir Bradley Charles for the title in November and has refused to give SBC a rematch. SBC has instead given his blessing to his good friend Jimmy Rockwell to try to become a four-time Pure champion!

3XW Tag Team Championship!

Sexy & Smooth (AJ Smooth & Ryan Slade) vs. 3XW Tag Team champions American Ground & Air (“The Professional” Benjamin Sailer & Nate Bash) with Todd Countryman
– Another highly-anticipated rematch. Genesis members Sailer & Bash have used the titles as weapons two consecutive months to score falls over Sexy & Smooth in matches. Will the Board of Directors honor Sexy & Smooth’s request of a second referee at ringside?

3XW’s First-Ever Tag Team Flag Match!

The American Bulldogs (“The American Fury” Jon West & Maddog McDowell with manager Skylar Pierce) vs. The Mylan Management Agency (Domino Rivera & “The Laotian Sensation” Ricky Kwong with manager “Founder of MMA” Chad Mylan)

– 3XW’s longest-running rivalry comes to a head in 3XW’s first-ever tag team flag match! There have been incredible twists-and-turns in this feud dating back to April – who will climb the pole and capture the flag amid the chaos?

Triple Threat Match – Loser Leaves Genesis!

”Delicious” Devin Carter vs. “The Unbreakable” Zach Thompson vs. “Torturous” Tony Sly

– As ordered by 3XW Commissioner Todd Countryman, the leader of Genesis, these teammates must battle as a result of taking falls in November’s 10-Man elimination tag team match. Who will be forced to leave the supergroup?

Singles Match

Casanova vs. Sir Bradley Charles

– SBC lost the Pure Wrestling championship to underhanded veteran Arik Cannon in November. He’s hoping to earn a rematch with Cannon, but first he must contend with the incredible challenge of Genesis member Casanova, the most recognized champion in 3XW history. The winner of this match is potentially in line for either a Pure Wrestling or Heavyweight championship shot!

Singles Match

Ray Stryker vs. Gage Octane

– Stryker, a rookie and the most recent graduate of the 3XWrestling Academy, couldn’t draw a tougher challenge for his first singles match ever at the Forte Center. Octane is 3XW’s longest-tenured veteran, as well as a very crafty grappler and member of Genesis. Will Stryker be able to hang with the ultra-tough Octane, especially given Octane’s recent winning streak?

Doors open for Holiday Havoc 3 at 7 p.m. (6:45 p.m. for advance ticket holders) for a 7:30 p.m. start time. The Barratta’s@Forte Center is located at 615 3rd St. in beautiful downtown Des Moines.

Advance tickets for 3XW events are available at http://www.3XWrestling.com, All Play (615 3rd St.), Cup O’ Kryptonite (4521 Fleur Dr. in Des Moines), and Jay’s CD and Hobby (3315 S.E. 14th St.). Advance tickets are $12 adult general admission and $6 for kids 10 and under. Advance ticket holders get into the arena 15 minutes early to pick their seats. Tickets at the door the night of the event are $15 for adult general admission but still only $6 for kids (free for kids 3 and under).

3XW Holiday Havoc 3 is sponsored by Baratta’s, Mediacom, Godfather’s Pizza, Henry J’s Taco House, White’s Automotive, Prints Copy Center, B&B Grocery, Meat & Deli and Aspen Athletic Club.

The Monsters of the Midwest are no more as the Mississippi Madman ends Benz’s career.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on December 16, 2011

By Brian Kelley

During this past summer MWR took the time to rank the Top 30 Tag Teams in the Midwest during the MWR Years. Prior to naming the first tag team that made the list at number 30, which so happened to be the Heroes for Hire (Zach Thompson and Jimmy Rockwell) we honored some of the teams that just missed that list.
Photobucket

One of those tag teams were the Mississippi Madman and Benz, otherwise known as The Monsters of the Midwest. Everyone at MWR was high on the tag team, but was also cautious in where they were headed.
Let’s look back at what our concerns were.

A new team in 2011 features the exciting duo of the Madman and Benz. The two have all the tools to go far in the tag team division. They started the year off with a win against the exciting tag team the Full Metal Jackals which set them up for a title chance against the 2010 MWR Tag Team of the Year and current NMW Tag Team Champs Attitude Inc. The experience and skills of Attitude Inc. has been the deciding factor in the two title shots that Benz and Madman received as the champs were able to walk away with their belts. Can this young team regroup and stay strong or will the effects of coming up short tear them apart?

The article was posted on July 18th and by the time New Midwest Wrestling came to their biggest show of the year November Reign, The Monsters of the Midwest were not in a match for the NMW tag titles but in a match that would pit the two against each other in a bout with the stipulation being if Benz lost the title then he would retire.

What happened??

In May, during a huge Tag team title match against the champs Attitude Inc. The Monsters of the Midwest suffered a heart breaking loss in a tag team tornado match. While the fans were unhappy to see Attitude Inc. continue their stranglehold on the NMW Tag Team titles, the two powerful fan favorites were even more in despair over the loss.

Photobucket

Out of true emotion Benz called out the Madman stating that they should be dominating the competition but in his eyes it seemed that the Madman had lost that fire that he once had. When it was time for a rematch against the NMW Tag Team Champs, out of the blue the Madman went on a sabbatical.

Months would pass as Benz would wait for his partner to come back. Time would only anger the powerful Benz, so he called out his partner for a one on one match to bring back the fire the Madman had. When he refused, Benz demanded the NMW management to grant him his match. With emotions high, Benz let NMW management know that if they would grant him his match and if he was to lose to the Mississippi Madman then his career was over.

On November 26, the biggest night of the year had come. NMW Ryan Phoenix was set to defend the title against A1 Tom Arson in the main event. Prior to that match was what many claimed to be a double main event when The Mississippi Madman looked across the ring at his former partner Benz.

As the two bulls locked up the fans were in awe and divided on who they wanted to win. One thing was certain the fans did not want to see Benz retire. The battle looked to be even until Benz would attempt a body slam, only to crumble under the weight of 453 pounds of the Madman. Somehow Benz was able to recover before the ref counted to three.

The Madman reluctantly went after his partner working him over in the corner as he prepared him for his patented “fifth floor” choke slam. With the crowd in disbelief Benz was trapped in the grasp of the Madman and with no defense took the long ride up above the 6’5 frame of the Madman then crashing to the mat.

The ref counted 1-2 –and somehow he kicked out.

Very few have been able to withstand the Fifth Floor move ,but Benz was determined.

BOOOOOOOOOOM. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

With the heart of a champion Benz fought back to get the edge and in the middle of the ring, in an amazing display of strength was able to pick up the 453 pounds off the ground in a bodyslam. Quickly, Benz went for the pin but the Madman was still too strong to go down yet.

The Madman returned to his feet and delivered his offense on his friend and before long; he went back to his bread and butter, the Fifth Floor again. Once again Benz was helpless as the Madman took him on the ride up, then brutally down to the mat.

The ref counted 1-2 –amazingly Benz kicked out. The Madman was stunned, the crowd was in shock but Benz’s carrier was still alive, though on a thread.

The Madman nearly had to picked the mountain of a man Benz himself off the mat, and as he did, Benz showed true heart by still continuing to fight with punches. While the Madman still had the advantage he delivered a crushing blow down onto Benz then put him in the corner to deliver a running smash to crush his friend and partner.

The Madman backed up and ran full force to deliver the splash but Benz was just a millisecond faster and was able to put up the big boot.

. The Madman was hurt and down to one knee. Out of desperation Benz went to the top rope to deliver a move but as he got to the top, the Madman had caught up to him. With Benz helpless to do anything, The Madman lifted Benz from the top rope nearly ten feet high for the third and final Fifth Floor.

The ref counted 1-2-3 ……The Madman had won, Benz career was over.

In an emotional moment the Madman pleaded to Benz to still be his partner. There were tears flowing in the stands as they realized that one of their favorites at NMW was done. Benz got on the mic stated that he was a man of his word and that this historic match was his last.

While Benz went to the locker room, the fans came up to shake his hand, while his young daughter ran up to him with tears in her eyes to give him a hug, Benz in returned kissed her on the cheek before waving goodbye to the NMW fans.

Breaking news: Has NWA’S Howard T Brody and Larry Brannon signing of the NWA National Heavyweight Champion Chance Prophet vs. the Tokyo Monster Kahagas put the NWA on the map again?

Posted by flairwhoooooo on December 14, 2011

By Brian Kelley- MWR Owner and Editor

Hot news tonight coming in from Fort Lauderdale, Florida as the former High Voltage Wrestling Champion Kahagas tore the roof down in Fort Lauderdale, Fla against the NWA National Heavyweight Champion Chance Prophet for NWA Ring Warriors in a title match.

Photobucket

In the house was the former National Wrestling Alliance President Howard T. Brody, and former 3 time NWA World Tag Team Champion and now Chief Operations Officer Larry Brannon  were on hand for what one MWR correspondent in Florida called the most brutal match in the NWA since the days of Harley Race and Ric Flair, Bruiser Brody and Abdullah just to name a few.

The night was filled with Superstars as the NWA World Tag Team Champions, the Dark City Fight Club (Jon Davis and Kory Chavis), were defended their titles against two members of pro wrestling’s most heralded and often controversial stables, Degeneration X, in “Bad Ass” Billy Gunn and “X-Pac” Sean Waltman.

Photobucket

The Original Diva” Sunny” made her way to NWA Ring Warriors, as was the “Midwest Sweetheart” herself Santana G. Sunny gave the highest of compliments when she stated that Santana G was the top female talent not signed by the WWE today.

Photobucket

Santana G has worked hard to earn the respect of some of the best in the business have taken notice. From the best in the business such as MsChif, Scott Hall, X-Pac, to the greatest Diva of them all Sunny. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

Yet, at the end of the night all the fans could talk about was the brutal NWA National Heavyweight title match between the two warriors that went at it with neither of them backing down. Inside the ring Kahagas and Chance Prophet delivered chops and punches that echoed throughout the building . Outside the ring, it would only get uglier as both men would be disqualified as they went at each other with a vengeance.

Our sources state that both men were far from calling it done on this night, but they will have to wait another day to settle the score to see who truly is the best man.

Earlier this fall we saw the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Adam Pearce electrify the crowd at Metro Pro Wrestling in Kansas City against Michael Strider.

With HVW promoter TNT Keny G scouting out talent in Florida this week, MWR believes that the chances of the NWA National Heavyweight Champion Chance Prophet giving a rematch to Kahagas in the Midwest is very likely.

Should it happen at HVW, Dynamo Pro Wrestling or Metro Pro Wrestling it has the chance to be the match of the year in the Midwest in 2012.

All American Pro Wrestling is bodyslamming hunger this holiday season.

The Southern-Illinois based professional wrestling organization will be sponsoring a canned food drive at its Dec. 18 “Collision” TV taping at the Black Diamond Harley-Davidson Warehouse in Marion.

Fans who bring a canned or non-perishable food item to the show will receive $2 off the price of admission. Collected items will be donated to the Marion Ministerial Alliance.

“All American Pro Wrestling started as a way to help raise money for a family’s medical expenses after a terrible fire,” said Executive Producer Chris Hagstrom. “Giving back is something that AAPW has always done and will continue to do. But now we are finding other ways to help the community instead of just running a show to raise money. We plan on continuing to help organizations like Marion Ministerial Alliance and Midwest Animal Rescue Shelter yearround as both need the community’s assistance to continue to provide care for the entire region.”

The taping begins at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, with doors opening at 1 p.m. Tickets are a special price of $5 for adults and $3 for children.

“AAPW Collision” airs select Saturdays on WSIL-TV 3 in Southern Illinois, Southeast Missouri and Western Kentucky. Past episodes can also be viewed online at http://vimeopro.com/aapw/collision.

This is the final AAPW Collision TV Taping of season 1. The feud between “Old School Warrior” Ax Allwardt and Edmund “Livewire” McGuire has become extremely personal. There is no telling what may happen when these two are in the same building as they prepare for what could be their final encounter at AAPW Main Event.

Plus, the AAPW Tag Team title situations seems more confusing than ever. Will both champions be on hand to defend their titles? And who will it be against?

Mike Masters has made his thoughts known on Commentator Kevin Hunsperger and there are rumors of an encounter between the two at this TV taping. What could Hunsperger have done to Masters to put him in such a violent mood and can Kevin even do anything to stop it?

Come out to support AAPW as we hope to find out if Collision will be renewed for a second season. Plus find out all of the matches scheduled for AAPW Main Event. You could also win tickets to meet X-Pac at the Rumble VIP Party!

Ring of Honor Superstar Kenny King welcomes you to MWR.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on December 13, 2011

Kenny King earned a handshake from Christopher Daniels earlier in the year (Photo Credit Scott Finkelstein)

Kenny King has been featured on WWE’S Tough Enough, but that moment is sure to be far from the highlight of this young stars career. King initially trained by WWE superstars Al Snow, Bob Holly, Chavo Guerrero and Ivory. In Las Vegas, he got to train with former AWA World champion Nick Bockwinkel and Scott Casey only improving his talent at a rapid speed.

While working on a local show he would go toe to toe with Mike Mizanin, known today simply as The Miz. A short stint but a very educational one was his time at TNA that only would prepare him for where he is today.

Today he is one of the top young tag teams in ROH called The All Night Express, with Rhett Titus. The two would be able to capture a huge victory in St Louis on November 6th against the American Wolves , ROH World Champion Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards in what many fans noted to MWR was the match of the night.

We caught up with the red hot Kenny King and he had this advice to all the wrestling fans around the world.

Dubi meets the fans at SICW with the Honky Tonk Man, Lanny Poffo and Santa Clause.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on December 12, 2011

By Dubray Tallman
All photos from MWR Photographer Michael Van Hoogstraat

When most people think of Christmas time, they think of the white snow, Santa, wood fires, or even fresh baked ginger bread cookies and eggnog! All kinds of memories and emotions come to us each year when we think of the how we spent our time, what parties or events we attended, and who we were with in years gone by. These cherished memories are reason enough to plan to attend a great wrestling show, a Christmas wrestling show. The key to any successful event is being well prepared! Well folks I know a gang down in East Carondelet, IL that is prepared to give the fans a great time at every show.

Photobucket

This edition of “Dubi Meets the Fans” was a little different for myself, instead of my boyfriend in hand I brought my awesome little helper and son Tyler Tallman. The night before we made out Christmas cards and packed up prizes for fans together and talked about how the fans would come in and get a random card with a winner of a free MWR T-shirt, a whole box of candy canes, or maybe winning a box of chocolates. Brian  going to another show in Kansas City made out a list of duties to make sure I didn’t forget one step in making a great night become history.
The fans at SICW are among  the loudest fans ever…and are always pumped for a great show. I never have a hard time in finding a fan that wants a picture with a wrestler and Austin is no exception. December 10th was Austin’s B-day and he wanted Sean Vincent, but I was unsure that I was going to get this retread Canadian to come out for the youngster. A great guy and wrestler, Ricky Cruz must have over heard my conversation and wanted to help out so he volunteered to get his picture with him and his mom Mary. After doing this Ricky must have said a few words to mean Sean Vincent, because shockingly he was out and by the ring smiling with Austin and his friend Rose before you I could give them the information where to get their picture.

Photobucket

After doing this Ricky must have said a few words to mean Sean Vincent, because shockingly he was out and by the ring smiling with Austin and his friend Rose before you I could give them the information where to get their picture.

Photobucket

Rose also took her out the opportunity and got a separate shot with this evil villain.

Photobucket

As I was finishing up with Austin, Jake and his dad came up with the winning card for the free MWR T-shirt. I then asked Jake if I could get my picture taken with him and he was more than excited to take his picture with a reindeer…heehee

Photobucket

Photobucket
Around the corner I spotted big fans of Chris Hargas. These little guys, Grant and Evan Hoffman were cute as a button and loved having their picture taken. Also spotted by these guys I met Nicole she also was excited to get her picture with Chris as well.

Photobucket

Photobucket

As I said before SICW fans are some of the loudest fans ever and some of the most noise was coming from four of the greatest fans, Kayla, Allison, Paige, and Christian. These guys were pumped to see Ricky Cruz, they couldn’t wait for him to come out, so it was no surprise who they wanted to get their picture with.

Photobucket

I was so excited in being a part of this show because not only was the room going to be filled with friends, but the card was incredible and surprises of Lanny Poffo, the Honky Tonk Man, and even Santa was there.
Yes you heard right the Honky Tonk Man was there…it was so great to see him in the ring singing and dancing for the fans, I had seen him before, but never get tired of watching him perform.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Another great surprise was Lanny Poffo, brother to the late Randy Savage. I remember Randy was the first legend that I had met at Harley Race’s WLW show in 2005. He was just as nice as Lanny was to me.

Photobucket

I was hoping to have a moment with both HTM and Lanny for promos and we wanted to give Lanny an 8×10 hand drawn from MWR artist Rob Schamberger. Rob  has done the photo as an exclusive portrait of the Macho Man for the upcoming 2011 Missouri Wrestling Revival Yearbook book in February out of respect and remembrance for his Savage’s passing earlier this year. Lanny was also nice enough to sign another 8 X 10 that we are going to send to our friend Rob Schamberger for his collection and appreciation for his contributes for MWR as he has drawn not only the stars in the world of wrestling but the local wrestlers who is reaching for their dreams to be a household name.

Lanny then went and spent time with Herb in front of the fans and had a lot of kind words of knowledge for the crowd and  you could see that everyone was happy for him being there.

Photobucket

Photobucket

And then came out Santa, giving candy to all the good boys and girls in the crowd…” How can you not Just love Santa?”

Photobucket

Photobucket

Look for a recap of this nights in ring action in the future at MWR as MMWA-SICW continues to be red hot as the Ron Powers , Ricky Cruz feud will be one that I will be keeping my eye out on in 2012.
Till then, come see us at the matches as MWR works towards our 5 years of supporting the best pro wrestling around the country.
