RingSyders for March 20th: Download it Now!

Posted by Ben Simon on March 20, 2013

The 6th edition of RingSyders on MWR is available now.  Mikey G, and Drew Abbenhaus host big action.  Ben Simon is out this week.

UFC 158

No interview this week, but starting next week, we will have the guests of the Legends of St. Louis Wrestling card  on May 11th.

Go to the RingSyders page and download the show

Georges St-Pierre proves he is the greatest MMA welterweight in history!  HBO drives a wedge into the boxing world, maybe splitting it forever!  Just 18 days remain until WrestleMania XXIX and the card is mostly set; will Triple H have to retire?  Also, Vince McMahon challenges Dana White to a fight?  Yeah right!

First time EVER – Jeremy Wyatt vs. Kyle O’Reilly April 13, 2013

Posted by flairwhoooooo on March 19, 2013

 photo 020412_zps8806bae3.jpg

Jeremy Wyatt has been one of the top wrestlers in the world for some time now. Wyatt is in his second Metro Pro Wrestling title reign after defeating his arch rival.“The Worlds Fittest Wrestler” Mark Sterling on December 8th in a best of 2 out of 3 matches.

Since that time he has embarked on the Jeremy Wyatt vs. the World tour in 2013.

First up was the exciting and ultra-talented TJ Perkins who has impressed fans around the world  at New Japan, TNA and Ring of Honor. In a classic match between two ring technicians, Wyatt was able to capture a hard fought win against one of pro wrestling’s brightest stars.

Wyatt would then meet one of the few men that is able to match head games with “The Belt Collector”; and that would be the former 5-time NWA Worlds Champion and the 2012 MWR Wrestler of the Yea, Adam Pearce.
In a rematch of their classic 2012 battle for the NWA World Title, just a little over a year from the day, the Metro faithful would break an attendance records as the two warriors battled it out for the MPW title. In one of his biggest wins in his career, Wyatt was able to defeat the greatest NWA World Champion of this generation.

No rest for the wicked, Wyatt is once again hunted by one of another wrestling’s top young star in the world; none other than Ring of Honor Superstar Kyle O’Reilly.

O’Reilly is a protégé of the former Ring of Honor Champion of the World Davey Richards. Hard hitting, very methodical, O’Reilly is able to use his unbelievable training regimen, to dominate with the ground game after destroying his opponents with his vicious strikes.

The Metro Pro Wrestling title could very well be in the hands of the man that Pro Wrestling Illustrated ranked at #102 in 2012 when the lights go out on April 13th.

Can O’Reilly become only the 8TH man to hold onto the Metro Pro Wrestling? Or will Wyatt add another victim to resume during the Wyatt vs. The World tour in 2013.

Join MWR when history is made as Jeremy Wyatt meets Kyle O’Reilly for the very first time in Kansas City, Kansas at the Turner Rec Center on April 13th !!

Let us take a look at a classic matchup from Ring of Honor as Davey Richards meets his mentor in a match that is sure to be a taste of what is to come in less than a month!!

Metro Pro Wrestling returns to Turner Rec Center in Kansas City, KS, on Saturday, April 13, for our next television taping for Metro Sports! Doors open at 6 p.m., and bell time is 7 p.m.

Tag Team Champions Ace Hawkins and Brandon Espinosa vs. The Submission Squad

NEW MATCH: Pro Wrestling Collision has been proud of its open-door policy since our inception, allowing a number of different athletes to opportunity to compete in a COLLISION ring.

On March 23, a new tag team is set to debut, and they’re prepared to jump right into the fire. When Tag Team Champions Ace Hawkins and Brandon Espinosa announced their open contract for a title shot, these men were the first – and second, third and fourth – team to contact management regarding to opportunity.

At the next COLLISION taping, Evan Gelistico and Pierre Abernathy, collectively known with partner Gary Jay as the Submission Squad, will get their shot at capturing the Pro Wrestling Collision Tag Team Championships.

Hawkins and Espinosa won’t go down without a fight, though. Hot off the heels of their first defense against Alex Castle and Angelus Layne, they say they’re ready for the Submission Squad, as well as any other challengers waiting in the wings.

EW MATCH: Last month, “Serial Thriller” Shane Rich made his official debut at Pro Wrestling Collision, defeating “The Apex” Blake Steel. After the match, though, Rich was assaulted by Bull Bronson, who was ultimately suspended indefinitely for his actions, which included an attack on ring announcer Bob Fester.

Rich has made it clear he wants his hands on Bronson, but owner Chris Hagstrom stands by his decision to uphold the suspension. Rich will be in action, though, on March 23. He will be facing the debuting Gary Jay, a member of the Submission Squad.

Jay, along with stablemates Evan Gelistico and Pierre Abernathy, will be looking to establish themselves as threats in Pro Wrestling Collision, but Rich is fueled by aggression at this point. Jay certainly won’t have an easy task ahead of him when these two cross paths.

Tickets are on sale now at http://www.prowrestlingcollision.com. — at Boys & Girls Club of Carbondale.

The 54th anniversary of Wrestling in St. Louis continues on May 18th with Butch Reed

Posted by flairwhoooooo on March 17, 2013

 photo butchreed_1_full_zpsf2d97077.png

SICW continues to honor the history of Wrestling in St Louis, with a huge month of May. A week following the historic weekend of wrestling in Alton, Illinois, SICW returns to East Carondelet, Illinois on May 18th with special guest Butch Reed.

Reed’s bio at WWE.COM states it best.

As rugged as they came, Butch Reed started his ring career in the central states area in 1978. He became a major player in the Universal Wrestling Federation in the early 1980s, and is remembered there for his brutal rivalries with legends like “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan and The Junkyard Dog.

Reed’s tenure in WWE began in late 1986. Billed as “The Natural,” the massive grappler was a forced to be reckoned with thanks to his size and his manager — the underhanded Slick. In WWE rings, the 260-pound native of Kansas City quickly made an impact, battling the likes of Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat, and Magnificent Muraco in 1987.

From there, he moved on to WCW where he formed the dangerous team of Doom with Ron Simmons. Managed by Teddy Long, the duo defeated The Steiner Brothers for the WCW Tag Team Championships in 1989. They would hold the titles for an amazing 281 days, setting a record that stood until WCW’s demise in 2001.
