Pro Wrestling Phoenix is LIVE – Saturday June 21st!
Fans, we had such an amazing celebration for our 9th Anniversary Spectacular, and we want to thank each and every one of you! We wouldn’t be here without you, and nothing feels better than filling the National Guard Armory full of excited fans! We are entering our 10th year, and we have a lot of great stuff in store for you all! Let’s start with June 21st!
Main Event 2 Out Of 3 Falls Match for the Pro Wrestling Phoenix Tag Team Championship: Jeremy Wyatt & Mark Sterling Vs. Hype Gotti & Abu Colossus
Wyatt & Sterling returned to PWP in April, and went to a 30 minute draw with Hype & Abu. Then, Wyatt & Sterling defeated Hype & Abu at our 9th Anniversary Spectacular to win the Tag Team Championship, in what has been called one of the top 5 matches in PWP history. Before that, Hype & Abu were pretty much an unstoppable force in PWP. Now, they want their re-match, and after the amazing contest they had, PWP officials were happy to oblige, however with the added stipulation that the winning team will have to score the best 2 out of 3 falls! Between these 4 men are DECADES of wrestling experience, and you can be sure that Hype & Abu are going to put EVERYTHING on the line to bring the titles back home! This will be a special treat folks and you definitely do NOT want to miss this!
PWP Heavyweight Championship: Branden Juarez Vs. Derek Cornell
Branden Juarez defied the odds in May when we defeated Matty Star in an insane TLC Match to retain his PWP Heavyweight Championship. Derek Cornell has previously been a tag team competitor in PWP, but this year is on a roll in singles matches, and defeated 3 other men in May to become #1 Contender. Cornell has risen to the top in PWP as one of the fan favorites, but strangely enough, the twisted Juarez has been receiving his fair share of cheers as well. Could it be respect from the fans? Or could it be that they just like to see him hurt people? No matter what, the only thing you can be sure of, is that this will be an excellent match! Will Cornell become the PWP Heavyweight Champion in his first ever title shot, or will Juarez continue to dominate in Pro Wrestling Phoenix?
Former Champions Collide Matty Star Vs. “Babyface” Tony Cortez
We here at PWP love giving the fans what they want, so what better way to do that then put two of the most popular men in PWP history on opposite sides of the squared circle? Cortez returned to PWP in May much to the fans delight. These two men happen to be the only two men who have EVER held the PWP Heavyweight Championship more than one time. Matty has the lead with 3 reigns, however Cortez is the longest reigning champion. This match will be built on respect and honor, and the outcome could have major ramifications in PWP!
Darren “Thunder” Russell Vs. Geek Singh
Darren “Thunder” Russell finally got some justice after he defeated Axel Greece & The Greece Pit in May. Now he is ready to move on, but he’s got a road block in the way. That road block is Geek Singh, who recently went to 4-0 in Pro Wrestling Phoenix. Singh says nothing can stand in his way as he rises to the top in PWP, but no one in recent years has captured the hearts & minds of the PWP faithful quite like Darren “Thunder” Russell. It will be interesting to see the outcome of this one!
“Showtime” Bradley Charles Vs. “Simply Ravishing” Ryan Slade
These two competitors have fought a few times this year, first when Slade stepped up to help Matty Star in February, and most recently during a Fatal 4-Way contest in May. Slade got on SBC’s bad side however when he dressed as SBC, came out to his music, and was announced as “Showtime” Ryan Slade. Throughout the match Slade mimicked SBC, who became even more frustrated. SBC said he is sick of being disrespected and ignored in PWP, and he is going to work his way back to the top. He said it starts June 21st with Ryan Slade. Be there to see it live!
What’s Next for Zac James?
On May 17th, something happened to Zac James that he never thought would happen. He was defeated by a returning “Babyface” Tony Cortez on the night of an Anniversary Spectacular, thus bringing his win loss record to 9-1. After the match, Cortez showed respect to Zac, but Zac seemed… out of it. As he walked to the back, the crowd actually clapped for him, showing him some respect as well for the first time in a long time. James seemed extremely confused by the night’s events. When reached for comment, all he said was that he will address the PWP fans on June 21st. What does Zac James have to say?
Also in action: “The Omaha Chainsaw” SM King, L-Ray w/ “Manager Supreme” Axel Greece, & more!
