St. Louis area comedy rock band Superfun Yeah Yeah Rocketship has a song on today’s Art of Wrestling podcast with CM Punk!

Check it out!

http://superfun.bandcamp.com – to stream or purchase songs that we have. The first one that pops up is “Number One Contender” from Colt’s podcast.

https://soundcloud.com/ColtCabana

Short bio: Superfun Yeah Yeah Rocketship is a goofy electronic comedy rock band from St. Louis consisting of Corey Goodman and Christopher Eilers. They’ve been playing around the St. Louis area for few years and just put out their first EP together called “PLEASE STOP”

Some other wrestling related stuff we’ve done if you wanna throw any of this in: We have song called “Randy Savage” that was on Colt’s podcast with Ariya Daivari and was used as Colt’s comedy show outro music for his Edinburgh Fringe Festival shows. We wrote a couple theme songs for Colt’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival shows, we did a song for Chikara when the pigeon Sapphire was injured by Mr. Touchdown that was played on their Under The Hood pay per view and then we played a short set at the last Chikara show in Chicago.

“The Great Wojo” to enter Tragos/Thesz Hall of Fame

Posted by flairwhoooooo on December 4, 2014

WATERLOO, Iowa—One of the greatest amateur wrestlers to step foot in a wrestling ring will be inducted into the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame. The National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum will induct Greg Wojciechowski into the Tragos/Thesz Hall of Fame as a Distinguished Member.

The 2015 George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame weekend will take place July 10-11.

A native of Toledo, Ohio, Wojciechowski won Ohio state wrestling championships in 1967 and 1968. He continued wrestling at the University of Toledo, where he was three-time NCAA championship finalist (1970-1972) and an NCAA champion (1971) at heavyweight. Wojciechowski’s overall career college record was 55-2-1. He was also a 13-time national AAU champion (eight freestyle and five Greco-Roman), a two-time World team member (1970 and 1978) and a member of the 1980 Olympic freestyle team.

Known as “The Great Wojo,” Wojciechowski began his career in professional wrestling during the boycott of the 1980 Olympic Games. He won the World Wrestling Association title (Indianapolis) three times, including a series of matches against 2014 Tragos/Thesz Hall of Famer Scott Steiner during that time.

Wojciechowski would regularly offer $10,000 to anyone who could pin him in the ring. He never lost a match during any of these bouts. “The Great Wojo” retired from professional wrestling competition at the end of 1993.

“Anything associated with Dan Gable is an honor,” said Wojciechowski. “I’m proud of my amateur wrestling background and, even though it was short, my professional wrestling background.”

The National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum will continue to release honorees into the 2015 George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame.

The Class of 2015 includes three Distinguished Members (two living, one posthumous) along with recipients of the Lou Thesz Award, Jim Melby Award, Frank Gotch Award, and the George Tragos Award.

FLASH FLANAGAN PULLS OUT ALL THE STOPS TO BECOME THE CLASSIC WRESTLING CHAMPION

Posted by flairwhoooooo on December 3, 2014

 photo f_zpsb924fcd8.jpg

Heath Hatton had been a fighting champion ever since defeating the Ironman Ken Kasa on July 26th in East Carondelet, Illinois. Since that time he has been the hunted by many of the toughest men in the Midwest today, including the “The King of Chaos” Ricky Cruz, Ken Kasa, and Bull Bronson. Yet, it would be one man who has been relentless in his pursuit of the SICW title and that man is none other than Flash Flanagan.

Flanagan has a long history of calculated violence in his career as he made his way to Puerto Rico to the WWE earning a reputation as a bulldozer that has been known to put true fear in fans as well as his opponents. The first piece of business was getting under the skin of the champion Hatton when he targeted Hatton’s protégé “The Man of Tomorrow” Daniel Eads. Flanagan dished out a brutal beating on the rising young star during a match, that brought out the champion to make the save.

That set up a title match in Fairmont City where Flanagan nearly cheated his way to victory, but the decision was reversed and Hatton was able to fight another day as champ. After a successful title defense back in East Carondelet, Illinois against Travis Cooks’ body guard Bull Bronson, Hatton once again was staring across the ring against Flanagan in the cold November night.

Early and often in the match the challenger Flanagan worked on Hatton arm. Just as it look as if Hatton was about to take over, one minor mistake would lead to a world of pain for the champion when Hatton accidentally took out the ref with a blind cross-body off the second rope. Hatton locked in the crippler crossface on Flanagan , but the ref was still down and didn’t see the tapout. When Hatton attempted to revive the referee, Flanagan struck with a superkick and then a ruthless blow to the head via his kendo stick. Flanagan thought he had won the belt, as the referee counted 1-2-2 and a half, before Hatton kicked out. When Flanagan attempted to use a steel chair, Hatton was a step ahead of him and reversed it for an Irish whip into the chair, then attempt a rollup to end the match, but Flanagan blocked it and held onto the ropes to end the reign of Heath Hatton as the SICW Champion.

Ricky Cruz Voted the 2014 MWR Best Wrestler by the Fans

Posted by flairwhoooooo on December 2, 2014

 photo r1_zps5f6fcec8.jpg

Ricky Cruz is one of the most calculating and talented wrestlers in the country. His skills has earned him trips around the Midwest and Puerto Rico in 2014 while capturing big wins wherever he goes. – Photo Brian Kelley

Missouri Wrestling Revival fans around the Midwest have been able to catch Ricky Cruz in action in the past three years against many of the best of the best. A perennial contender for the official MWR Wrestler of the Year award, Cruz entered the area as one of the most loved wrestlers, yet in the past year he has turned on his fans while capturing the Dynamo Pro Wrestling belt and the GWF Championship. He also teamed with former MWR Wrestler of the Year Brandon Espinosa for a bit to win the DPW Tag Team belts proving that belts and winning is a common occurrence for a man of his skils . His biggest accomplishment of 2014  very well may have not been winning a belt , but by defeating one of his arch rival the  powerhouse Ron Powers in a loser leaves match at SICW !  This Saturday in Fenton, Missouri, Ricky Cruz defends his DPW title against rising star Mike Outlaw as he continues his quest to be one of the best wrestlers ever in the MWR years.

The ladies love Evan Money Morris while the men have learned to respect him for his high flying hard hitting style that has paid dividends in NWA Central States, Dynamo Pro Wrestling and World League Wrestling. Money was once known as the “Kid” but in 2014 the kid has become a man by dominating the NWA Central States promotion. Look for Money to be a star for years to come.

Davey Vega may not be getting the headlines like he should, but his reputation among the wrestling fans is well founded. Earlier this year Vega was able to defeat former WWE NXT Star Chris Hero, former ROH World Champion Roderick Strong as well as several of the top rising stars in the Midwest including Zakk Sawyers, Bolt Brady and Christian Rose. Vega has continued his red hot 2014 by defeating the current MWR Wrestler of the Year Jake Dirden and has a golden opportunity to win the SLA Championship this Saturday in Alton, Illinois if he is able to survive and defeat SLA Champion Gary Jay in a two out three falls war in the land of Anarchy.

Pro Wrestling Phoenix fans truly respect the hard working, never quite style of Darren “Thunder” Russell. Russell started the year off feuding with the talented L-Ray and Joey Daniels led by the 2014 Best Manager Axel Greece as voted on by the fans. In May, Russell got the last laugh when he won the Greece Pit Gauntlet by defeating Joey Daniels and L-Ray. In June he carried that momentum to a win against Geek Singh. A loss against former MWR Future Star Award  Showtime Bradley Charles to start the night of the 2014 Phoenix Challenge only focused Russell during the night in the main event when he was victorious to earn a title shot at the PWP Championship. In September he won the PWP Championship when he pinned Branden Juarez in an emotional match. Russell was able to get revenge on Charles when he defeated him to retain the title as well as winning a rematch against Juarez as he still lays claim as the PWP Champion.
